XRP Overtakes Bitcoin In Highest Weekly Trading Volume Following Legal Triumph "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

XRP, the native token of the Ripple network, has reportedly surpassed Bitcoin in trading volume on the weekly average. The digital asset, following a significant legal win last week, now claims 21% of all cryptocurrency trade volume over the last week. This achievement is just one of many in Ripples recent journey in the spotlight.

Ripples presence in the news lately owes to a landmark court decision in its favor. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had initially taken legal action against the firm, accusing it of selling unregistered securities.

However, a federal judge in New York has recently declared that XRP is only security when sold directly to institutional investors under specific written contracts. And when the token was sold to retail investors on crypto exchanges, it is not deemed a security.

This verdict led to major cryptocurrency exchanges relisting XRP, causing a subsequent surge in demand and trading volume.

Ripple Through The Market

Last weeks court decision catalyzed a rally for XRP, as its price experienced an approximate 65% increase. The relisting on various platforms, following the victory in court, ignited significant interest in the token and pushed trading volumes to new heights.

However, it is worth noting that XRP has experienced a 20% drop in value after reaching its recent peak. Yet, this has not seemed...

Rebellious Birds Are Now Stealing Anti-Bird Spikes and Making Nests With Them "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Rebellious Birds Are Now Stealing Anti-Bird Spikes and Making Nests With Them

If youve ever walked around in a city, you've probably seen anti-bird spikes covering statues, balconies, and sometimes even trees. While these mechanisms are intended to deter winged creatures from perching in these places, it seems like some magpies and crows have figured out a way to use them to their benefit. A group of Dutch researchers found that certain birds were using these spikes to construct nests.

For the first few minutes, I just stared at itthis strange, beautiful, weird nest, biologist Auke-Florian Hiemstra explains. He and other scientists observed several nests in Rotterdam and Antwerp that feature strips of spikes. Not only that, they discovered that magpies were even lining the tops of their nests with spikes to create a wall against predators.

Birds using manmade objects to construct nests is not a new phenomenon; however, researchers were surprised to learn that birds were tearing the plastic spikes off of buildings to bring back to their homes. Usually, thorny branches would act as protection for their eggs, but they've clearly learned that anti-bird spikes work just as well or even better to fortify their abodes.

Its actually like a joke, Hiemstra adds. Even for me as a nest researcher, these are the craziest bird nests Ive ever seen. He's not far off. Each of these guarded nests looks like something from the future. They also serve as a poignant reminder of the adaptability and resilience of nature.

Birds are now making nests from anti-bird spikes.

Thats the way the world works, friends!

Get started now!

AITA for answering a rude question with a rude question?

Im a happily married g*y man and, yesterday I and my husband were at a friends house celebrating their birthday.

At the end of the party a small group of people were sitting around the fire talking s**t when a woman, who I dont know (friend of friend type of thing), asked me and my husband straight to our faces so do you like being f**ked up the a** or is it your husband?

And before you all ask no she wasnt drunk she was the designated driver I replied do you like to f**k on all fours or on your back? She got mad and stormed off calling me a prick. At the time everyone there laughed (most were drunk) but the woman was my friend girlfriends relative of something and, now he and his girlfriend are getting some backlash.

Hes mad at me now because even though what she said was offensive I didnt need to stoop to her level. Im starting to feel bad about, the last thing I wanted was to cause trouble for my friend

So AITA?

Bitcoins Realized Cap Nears $400 Billion Despite Price Struggle At $30,000 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Despite Bitcoins current struggle to surpass the $30,000 mark, data analytics firm Glassnode earlier today reported that the assets realized capitalization has since been on an upward trajectory, nearing the $400 billion mark.

Bitcoin Realized Cap Nears $400 Billion

According to Data analytics firm Glassnode, Bitcoins Realized Cap is now inching closer to $400 billion, showing that new capital is continuously entering the market despite the years ups and downs.

Related Reading: Standard Chartered Raises Bitcoin Forecast To $120,000, Citing Miners Reduced Selling

Bitcoins Realized Cap represents the total value of all BTC at the price they were last moved or transacted, indicating the cost basis of holders. When this metric rises, it reveals that BTC is being traded at progressively higher prices, which suggests an increase in demand.

Glassnode reported that the increase in BTCs realized cap signals the consistent influx of capital into the asset throughout the year 2023. This steady inflow represents a stable investment climate surrounding Bitcoin, despite its recent price fluctuations.

Bitcoin (BTC) realised market cap.

Furthermore, Glassnodes assessment of the ascending realized cap is indicative of a broader trend in the cryptocurrency market. The data analytics firms said, It signals that coins are changing hands at higher prices on net, a phenomenon that underlines a rising demand for Bitcoin.

It is worth noting that this recorded increasing demand for Bitcoin comes at a time the asset might have flashed a hope of bul...

From Dawn to Dusk and Back Again, Stephen Wilkes Pursues Natural Drama in Remarkably Detailed Panoramas "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A panoramic photo of a Venice canal that transitions from day to night.

All images Stephen Wilkes, courtesy of Taschen, shared with permission

Whether atop a 40-foot lift truck in the center of Paris, in a small house on a far-flung island, or perched beside a Serengeti watering hole, photographer Stephen Wilkes certainly has patience on his side. Sitting in one spot for hours on end, he sets up his camera to capture a single scene over the course of a full day or more, tracking the dramatic movement of weather and the sun over expansive landscapes. Day to Nighta forthcoming book published by Taschen, highlights 60 of the artists most compelling images, from U.S. National Parks to iconic international landmarks to remote wildernesses brimming with wildlife.

Wilkes carefully selects his location and takes more than 1,500 exposures from a fixed angle to follow the gradual changes in light and the bustling activity of humans and animals. To get the scene of visitors at the Grand Canyon just right, for example, he slept in a watchtower during a 36-hour shoot. There was, of course, no artificial light, so I had to wait for the moon to light the canyon. I had only one hour of exposure to get this right, he says. When he returns to the studio, he painstakingly filters all of the images into a single composition, producing pieces akin to distilled timelapses.

Day to Night will be released next month and features panoramas taken between 2009 and 2022, many with hidden stories that Wilkes describes throughout. You can pre-order a copy on Bookshop, and see more of his work on his website.

Indigenous Singer Beautifully Covers The Beatles Blackbird in Mikmaq Language "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Indigenous Singer Beautifully Covers The Beatles Blackbird in Mikmaq Language

The Beatles have a number of hits and Blackbird is undoubtedly one of their most popular and beautiful songs. Written by Paul McCartney in 1968, the track explores themes of faith and hope. As such, its message has resonated with people all over the world. One of those people touched by the song is Emma Stevens, a member of the Eskasoni First Nation in Nova Scotia, Canada. The 16-year-old student performed a soulful cover of Blackbird, with the lyrics translated into the Mikmaq language.

The lyrics of Blackbird in Mikmaq were translated by Katani Julian, a teacher who works in language revitalization. My language is very different from other ones, she told WBUR. Theres a lot of syllables in ours. And theres a lot of long words that translate into something really easy in English.

As with any translation, there are words that don't have an exact equivalent in the other language. While a whole phrase may be needed for a single concept, it was also key to follow the rhythm of the song. I had to really do it very carefully so that I got the message, the original message, across in the Mikmaq, the teacher explains.

about the Mikmaq language. Since many young people in the local community didnt have the opportunity to learn the language, this endeavor was of utmost importance to Stevens and Julian.

Its just wonderful to hear it, the teacher says. And Mikmaq is full of emotions when its spoken. You know, when we speak to each other, theres a lot of emotions thats conveyed in the words.

SUI Surges 11% In Just 24 Hours, Is It Still Worth Buying? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

After the launch of the mainnet on May 3, the SUI token fell into a deep downtrend, which has caused the price to drop by more than 87%. Low user numbers and poor on-chain data have severely clouded the outlook. However, a few days ago, there was a surprise that gave a big boost to the SUI price.

The SUI network made waves in the crypto space by surpassing its competitor Solana in daily transactions. However, with a sudden record of 29 million transactions in 24 hours, SUI has left many crypto enthusiasts questioning the validity and sustainability of this sudden surge.

Renowned analyst and crypto whale Andrew Kang, known for his insightful commentary, has raised concerns about the authenticity of these transactions, suggesting that SUI may be artificially inflating its numbers. Kang writes today:

Sui pumping their numbers up. Chart looks good, market does not seem to be discerning about validity of transactions. Fake it til you make it.

Is SUI Still Worth Buying?

As Kang argues, the question is: Are the numbers legitimate and can drive a sustainable upward trend, or will the hype quickly die down because of fake numbers?

The recent surge in transactions can be primarily attributed to the introduction of the on-chain game, Sui 8192. Developed by the team behind the wallet provider, Ethos Wallet, this casual game has captured the attention of users with its gameplay reminiscent of the classic puzzle game 2048.

Each move within the game triggers a transaction, resulting in the state of the game being recorded on the blockchain. With the integration of a pre-approval mechanism in Ethos Wallet, players can optimize their gameplay experience by setting a token amount before each game.

Its Important to know that the SUI Foundation has allocated $5 million to further stimulate activity within the game, offering players the opportunity to earn rewards in the form of SUI tokens by competing against others or completing tasks. However, this could call into question the sustainability of this increase in transaction activity.

Perhaps the game is only experiencing a short hype at the moment because players want to grab the free tokens. Once the marketing budget is exhausted, the hype could quickly be over. SUI traders and investors should therefore be cautious.

Prior to this transaction surge, the project had been marred by negative headlines, including allegations of suspicious token movements, concerns about venture capital influence, and opaque tokenomics. These controversies have left some investors wary of the projects long-term prospects....

Lyran Planetary Grid Network Restoration "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Beloved Ones, We are heading into the cusp of all the previous months energies. A new passage whose main Lyran and Sirian frequencies are key to continue restoring the many damaged Earth structures. This Year the 8/8 Lions Portal is like nothing we have previously experienced, especially in planetary gridwork. From an individual perspective to a planetary one, everything is being transformed, and this year the focus is mainly on bringing restoration to the damaged planetary grids structures that were massively distorted to keep us uncommunicated from other dimensions, between many other non-benevolent purposes, and that are now finally being rehabilitated. Everyone can help by sending love and healing blessings to the Earth, even though not a grid worker as such, as there are many types of planetary healers, and all of them are equal to help on Earths restoration, for we all are One with it, and as ascending souls, we all have an agreement to treat Earth with the utmost respect, as she too provides for us. We are at a time when our planet is retrieving its original planetary order, and communication with other timeliness, and it is pivotal for us to support this new opening through personal clearing and alignment of our own body portals. During the Lions portal, we are going to be assisted again to continue with this planetary mission. As you know, our Planet has many structures, such as the fabrics of time and space, and many others that are being rehabilitated, which is why we are too able to restore our DNA. During the 8/8 portal, one of the most important tasks to work with that Guides invite us to do, is supporting the restoration of the original Lyran planetary grid network, built by our Forefathers and destructed eons ago. This is the first message I received yesterday to share for All, and that shall be initiated at this moment, for it is not about a specific day, as its energies are already amongst us. Our main focus at this time is on Egypt, South of France, Bermuda in the Atlantian Ocean, which is a 5D portal that helps stabilize the planetary Merkabah fields, Easter Island, which is already a massive grid complex for stabilization, and an interdimensional portal to other worlds, between many other things, as to me, personally, this is the most important gate on our planet. Lastly, Irans organic Earths gate, all important planetary ga...

Not so random acts: Science finds that being kind pays off "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

When you turn on the news or read the headlines that constantly appear on your Facebook feed, its easy to start to think that human nature is inherently evil, angry, and selfish- and rightly so. It seems that every day were given another example of people disrespecting each other, harming each other, and discriminating against each other.

While the media tends to focus on the negative aspects of humanity, science tells us that humans propensity for kindness is just as strong. University of California San Diego psychologist Michael McCullough says that being kind is often something we take for granted, but is as bred in our bones as our anger or our lust or our grief or as our desire for revenge, [1]. Not only are we hard-wired to be kind, but there is a growing body of research to suggest that being kind actually makes us feel happier and improves our health.

Kindness Pays

According to Oxford anthropologist Oliver Curry, the basic reason why people are kind is because we are social animals.

Were kind because under the right circumstances we all benefit from kindness, he says [1].

We also give kindness more value than any other trait or characteristic. In one study, psychologists put values into ten categories and then asked participants which was more important. Benevolence or kindness was rated the number one most i...

Chainlink CCIP Goes Live On Mainnet, LINK Jumps By Nearly 10% "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), designed for building cross-chain applications and services, has now launched for early access users on the Avalanche, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon blockchains.

On July 20, the Chainlink protocol will become available to developers across the four blockchains testnets and also Arbitrums Goerli. As a result of this, the price of Chainlinks native token, LINK, rallied nearly 10% to touch $7.30 following this announcement on Monday.

Chainlinks CCIP The Future Of Interoperability?

In a blog post dated July 17, Chainlink announced the launch of the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol to early access users on Avalanche, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon blockchains. While DeFi lending protocol Aave is set to integrate the protocol, it has already been adopted on the derivatives platform Synthetix.

Related Reading: Bitcoin Price Needs To Clear $30,500 For Hopes of a Fresh Rally

According to the post, CCIP is an interoperability protocol that allows developers to design their own cross-chain solutions. It also offers Simplified Token Transfers, which allows protocols to swiftly send tokens across chains through audited token pool contracts.

Chainlink claims that CCIP is a blockchain layer designed to foster a connection between enterprises and any public or private blockchain ecosystem.

The cross-chain protocol is a collaborative effort with Swift, the renowned global financial messaging network. It leverages Swifts messaging infrastructure to facilitate token transfers across various public and private blockchains.

According to Chainlinks co-founder Sergey Nazarov, CCIP is a solution that aims to connect the fragmented public blockchain landscape and the growing bank ecosystem into a single Internet of Contracts.

He also stated that such technology will be crucial to developing and maintaining a blockchain-powered society.

Plant The Seeds: Making Your Bitcoin Meetup More Family Friendly "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Tali Lindberg, a mother, the co-founder of Free Market Kids and host of Orange Hatter: Bitcoin Podcast For Busy Women.

Typically, Bitcoin meetups come in two types: BitDevs and plebs. In the former, coders gather to discuss technical developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem, and the discussions are heavy with jargon and intricate concepts. In the latter, Bitcoin enthusiasts gather to discuss current events in the Bitcoin space and offer beginner-friendly workshops. In our travels, my husband Scott and I have attended many of both types of meetings.

Yet, recently, we found ourselves at a meetup that turned the typical rulebook on its head. Allow me to take you on a journey through that evening and perhaps inspire your own Bitcoin groups to do something similar.

This Is Going To Be Different!

When Scott and I pulled up to a meetup venue in Winchester, Virginia, we were greeted by two little girls giggling at the door. They pointed at us, waved, and then scampered back inside. Scott and I smiled and thought, "This is going to be different!"

Walking in a few moments later, we were again greeted by something unusual. There was a cacophony of drum beats and loud notes banged out on a small grand piano at the front of the room, opposite the entryway. The same two girls who waved at us at the door enthusiastically announced, "Were doing a concert!"

The two of them laughed and wiggled in their seats, heads bobbing from side to side in time with their own music.

The event organizer, Gary Krause of the Shenandoah Bitcoin Club, walked toward us, holding out his hand, welcoming us to the meetup that night.

He explained that several families had RSVPd for family game night and, despite the rain, he hoped we would get a good turnout. While we chatted and waited for the guests to arrive, one of the 5-year-old girls grabbed both of my hands and pulled me to the front of the room where she danced and pirouetted on tiptoes with her hands held high above her head, forming an arc.

"Come on, follow me! You can do it!" her little voice encouraged me. The other little girl banged on the piano as the impromptu accompanist.

The first family to arrive came with a baby and a 3-year-old. The baby was immediately whisked away from mamas arms by a family friend who cooed and bounced the baby while the adults greeted each other. The babys older brother approached the little girls who had stopped performing by now and the three of them shared an instant understanding of a secret game and darted away.

One by one, more families came. More kids. More noise. More laughter. And we hadnt even started playing games yet!

I Wish These Were Real Bitcoins!

When pizzas had been delivered and we were all seated, I looked around and realized...

XRP Holdings On Bitrue Exchange Surges By 300% "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Over the last week, the XRP token has dominated the headlines following Ripples partial court victory over the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

On July 13, Judge Analisa Torres of the US District Court of the Southern District of New York ruled that XRP doesnt qualify as a security leading to a massive price surge in which the token gained by almost 90%.

However, while it may appear that XRPs positive effect on the market is waning, with most assets slipping into a bearish state, there is still a high level of interest surrounding this altcoin, proven by a recent report from prominent crypto exchange Bitrue.

Bitrue Users Accumulate $800M Worth Of XRP In Futures Market.

In the late hours of yesterday, a crypto analyst with the Twitter handle @cowboycrypto313 revealed that Bitrue had shared a report via email with its users, noting a massive increase in the notional value of the open interest of the XRP token.

Related Reading: XRP Price Retreats After Massive 80% Rally, Buy The Dips?

The notional value of open interest refers to the total value of outstanding contracts in a futures or optional market. In this context, it represents the total value of XRP on the Bitrue exchange based on what its traders have pledged to buy or sell in the future.

In this report, Bitrue states that XRP holdings in its Futures service spiked from less than $200 million to over $800 million during the weekend. Interestingly, the exchange further revealed that 88% of its users are holding a long position on this asset.

According to a chart shared by Bitrue, the notional value of open interest for XRP on its platform had been below $200 million for the majority of the last two weeks. However, following the court ruling on July 13, this index started rising, with the XRP Futures market recording a notable spike on July 16.

Cryptocurrencies and the gaming industry have a new contender in Rollbit, and it has been making headlines over the past few days thanks to a slew of improvements to its blockchain technology.

In a recent development, Rollbit disclosed its most current changes to the platforms blockchain technology, propelling it to the forefront of the market.

Notably, the company has started offering strong support for its own native cryptocurrency, Rollbit Coin (RLB), giving customers access to better ecosystem functionality and advantages.

Based on crypto market tracker Coingecko figures, this lesser-known RLB coin has skyrocketed by more than 120% in the last seven days. At the time of writing, RLB was trading at $0.1224, up 24% over the previous 24 hours.

RLB has a market valuation of $357,728,046 with a 24-hour trading volume of $15,311,290. There are 3.3 billion coins in circulation.

How to Make the 2000-Year-Old Pizza Discovered on a Pompeii Fresco "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Just last month, we featured here on Open Culture the discovery of a Pompeiian fresco purported to depict an ancient ancestor of pizza. For most of us pizza-loving millions nay, billions around the world, this was a notable curiosity but for Max Miller, it was clearly a challenge. As the creator of the hit Youtube channel Tasting History, each of whose episodes involves faithful re-creation of dishes from eras past, he couldnt possibly have ignored this development. But it also poses even stiffer difficulties than most of his culinary projects, providing him not a recipe to work with but a picture, and not a particularly detailed picture at that.

The frescos genre is xenia, which, Miller explains in the video above, comes from the Greek word that referred to a sort of social contract between hosts and guests. The ancient Roman architect Vitruvius (he whose work inspired Leonardos Vitruvian Man) described how the Greeks, after becoming wealthy, began providing dining rooms, chambers, and storerooms of provisions for their guests.

BTC Price Analysis: Why Is Bitcoin Down Today? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Bitcoin price has fallen to the lower end of its almost one-month trading range between $29,800 and $31,300. Already yesterday, BTC briefly fell to as low as $29,704, only to recover to $30,306 within a few hours. At press time, BTC was again moving towards the $30,000 mark, and another fall and liquidity grab seems likely.

While this week the macro data releases are pretty quiet, its worth taking a look at whats happening in the Bitcoin market itself.

Why Is Bitcoin Down Today?

Swissblock Insights observed a peculiar calm in the market when Bitcoin reached a new yearly high of $31.840 last week. However, the momentum quickly faded, and selling pressure increased, causing BTC to drop to the low $30ks. They highlight the narrow Bollinger Bands, stating, The Bollinger Bands are very narrow, with only a 4.2% value difference separating the upper and lower bands. A move is brewing.

Moreover, the analysts emphasize the need for a significant catalyst to inject life into the current lackluster scenario:

Volatility is expected to appear on the scene, although, in the short term, we are in no mans land; liquidity remains low, open interest is still flat and shorts are nowhere to be seen. Theres no command in the direction we are going, and only a significant catalyst can spice things up in this dull scenario we are in.

According to the analysts, a breakdown of the $29.650 support level would invalidate a long setup. On the other hand, a bullish leg up $31.500 could reignite momentum and surge the price to $33,000. But for this to happen, spot demand needs to reignite strongly and longs need to enter the market, otherwise momentum will continue to fading.

Glassnode, an on-chain data provider, further illuminates the current state of the Bitcoin market. Despite the temporary yearly high, they describe the market as extremely quiet, also pointing to the Bollinger Bands. This compression in volatility signals a market reminiscent of the calm observed in early January, as NewsBTC reported yesterday.

Furthermore, Glassnodes analysis reveals a slow but steady inflow of capital into Bitcoin. The Realized Cap currently sits just shy at $396 billion. After hitting a cycle low at $380 billion, the metric indicates that a slow but steady stream of capital is entering the market throughout 2023.

How to Spot Bullshit: A Manual by Princeton Philosopher Harry Frankfurt (RIP) "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Note: Over the weekend, the Princeton philosopher Harry Frankfurt passed away at the age of 94. After a long career, he became the author of the surprise bestselling book, On Bullshit, which we featured in 2016. Please revisit our original post below.

We live in an age of truthiness. Comedian Stephen Colbert coined the word to describe the Bush administrations tendency to fudge the facts in its favor.

Ten years after the American Dialect Society named it Word of the Year, former president Bushs calendar is packed with such leisure activities as golf and painting portraits of world leaders, but truthiness remains on active duty.

Its particularly germane in this election year, though politicians are far from its only practitioners.

Her Half-Sister Claimed To Be Homeless As A Kid, So She Exposed Her Lies. Was She Wrong? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

AITAHalfSister Her Half Sister Claimed To Be Homeless As A Kid, So She Exposed Her Lies. Was She Wrong?

Why do some people feel the need to lie all the time?

It drives me insane!

And this woman seems pretty fed up with the lies her half-sister has been spewing about their childhood.

Was she a jerk for exposing those lies?

Take a look at her story and see what you think.

Start now!

AITA for exposing my half-sisters lies about our childhood?

I (24F) have a half-sister (27F), well call her Taylor.

My dad had weekend visitation with Taylor at our house until I was 8, and it was the worst. She bullied me really badly any time I saw her, to the point that I would scream every time my dad even mentioned her coming over. Even if we were kept apart, she would break my things, upset my pets, and tell lies about me. Every week her mom would end up in the kitchen screaming at my parents.

Taylors mom d**d when she was 11. Her mom didnt have any family able to take her in, and nor did my dad. My dad was the only one who could get custody. When I was told about this, I freaked out. Screaming, crying for hours, calling my grandparents and demanding to live with them, all of it.

My mom wasnt willing to have Taylor in the house on that basis, and Im pretty sure she said she would move out if my dad pushed the issue. Taylor ended up being sent to boarding school the next year, and she would go to stay with other members of my dads family during breaks.

Elon Musk Fires Another Tweet But Did It Lift Dogecoin Price? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Elon Musk has consistently proven to be a pivotal figure in cryptocurrencies, particularly Dogecoin (DOGE), his crypto of choice. His influence on DOGE has been nothing short of remarkable, with any mention or action from him causing significant fluctuations in its price.

In the digital currency landscape, where DOGE has struggled to keep pace with its counterparts despite the recent positive sentiment surrounding cryptocurrencies, any movement on the meme coin carries a heightened significance.

Enthusiasts eagerly await every word uttered by Musk, recognizing the potential impact his statements can have on the price and overall market sentiment.

Given this context, what did Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX top honcho and Twitter owner, say this time, and how did it reverberate within the DOGE community?

Elon Musk Doges Preference Boosts Dogecoin Price

Musk recently responded to a question on a popular social media platform. The question was about his preference between cats and dogs, and the enigmatic billionaire, promptly answered, Doges. This seemingly innocuous response had an immediate impact on the price of the meme coin.

Following Musks endorsement, Dogecoin experienced a surge in its price on Monday, with a notable 3% gain. Its trading value climbed from $0.07 to $0.073, reflecting the enthusiastic market response to Musks statement.

The sudden price increase further solidified the significance of Musks influence on Dogecoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.

However, as of the time of writing, the initial excitement has subsided, and DOGEs price on Coingecko has adjusted to $0.070024. Despite the slight dip from the peak, the meme coin still managed to record a modest increase of 0.5% within the last 24 hours.

Over seven days, Dogecoin showcased a more promising rally, with a substantial gain of 8.2%.

  • Quran Burning Sparks Global Response: UN Makes Shocking Move

https://www.atheistrepublic.com/news/quran-burning-sparks-global-response-un-makes-shocking-move

Location: Global

In an unprecedented move, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), prompted by Pakistan on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, has adopted a resolution condemning incidents of Quran burning as acts of religious hatred. This resolution was passed despite objections from multiple Western nations, primarily due to concerns around freedom of speech and expression. As Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, accused the West of "lip service" to their commitment to preventing religious hatred, critics of the resolution are voicing concerns about the potential for this legislation to stifle free speech. These critics argue that, as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Trk said, "every national limit on the greater right of free speech and free expression of opinion must be so formulated so that its only task, its only outcome, can be the protection of the individual and not the protection of religious doctrines from critical analysis." It remains to be seen how this landmark resolution will impact global conversations about the balance between respect for religious sentiments and the preservation of free speech.

AITAPickingUpWife He Picked Up His Wife Ten Minutes Late From the Airport. Is He a Jerk?

Is ten minutes a big deal?

I would think not, but this guy picking up his wife ten minutes late at the airport sure seemed to stir up all kinds of drama.

Was he an a**hole?

Get a load of his story below and see what you think.

AITA for picking my wife up from the airport 10 minutes late?

Heres what happened:

My wife was due to fly in to one of the most popular airports in the world last night at around 9pm. Her landing time was 8:50pm, no checked luggage, so I told her Id be there at 9pm.

At about 8:05pm, she apparently started calling my phone but unfortunately I didnt see/hear the calls until 8:15pm. This is because, like her, I keep my iPhone with the little silent switch on at all times so that it just vibrates. I didnt hear the vibration because I had my gaming headset on and was gaming/talking with friends. Keep in mind, I wasnt expecting ANY calls from her until after she landed

When I finally realized she was calling me (I looked at my phone by chance) I picked up and she told me that her plane had landed early (in this airport?! Unheard of!) and she told me to leave now. I just said Ok Ill see you soon, and hung up. This is where the AITA comes in:

I thought it was fine to finish my online match and left the house 10 minutes later. I drove to the airport and there was a ton of traffic (as usual and as expected) and I didnt pull up to where her and her friend were waiting until about 9:05. As fate would have it, that was p...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen Ate Psychedelic Mushrooms on Diplomatic Trip "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The United States Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, recently had an unconventional culinary experience during her visit to China, as reported by the New York Post. Yellen, who is known for her prudent and calculated approach to financial policy, surprised many by partaking in a meal that included psychedelic mushrooms.

The incident took place at a private dinner in Beijing, where Yellen was attending a series of high-level economic talks. The dinner was hosted by Liu He, the Vice Premier of the Peoples Republic of China, and was attended by a select group of dignitaries and officials. The menu for the evening was meticulously curated to showcase the diversity and richness of Chinese cuisine. However, one particular dish stood out a delicacy made from psychedelic mushrooms.

Psychedelic mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms, contain a naturally occurring psychoactive compound called psilocybin. Consumption of these mushrooms can lead to altered perception, mood changes, and a distorted sense of time. However, its important to note that the effects can vary greatly depending on the species of mushroom, the amount consumed, and the individuals personal tolerance.

The Treasury Department, in response to the news, clarified that Secretary Yellen was unaware of the nature of the mushrooms served at the dinner. They stated that Yellen did not experience any psychedelic effects, suggesting that the mushrooms served might have been a variety with low psilocybin content or prepared in a way that minimized their psychoactive properties.

This incident has sparked a flurry of discussions and debates on social media, with some expressing amusement at the unexpected turn of events, while others raising concerns about the potential implications. However, its important to remember that the consumption of psychedelic mushrooms is not illegal in China, unlike in the United States where they are classified as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act.

The use of psychedelic substances has been a topic of growing interest in recent years, both in the context of recreational use and potential therapeutic applications. Research has suggested that psilocybin, the active compound in psychedelic mushrooms, could have potential benefits in treating a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, these studies are still in their early stages, and further research is needed to fully understand the potential risks and benefits.

In the United States, there has been a growing movement towards the decriminalization of psychedelic substances. Several cities, including Denver, Colorado, and Oakland, California, have already decriminalized the possession and use of psychedelic mushrooms. However, at the federal level, these substances remain illegal.

This incident involving Secretary Yellen highli...

AI Detectors Think Think The US Constitution Was Written By AI "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

AI writing detectors are flagging the U.S. Constitution, one of Americas most significant legal documents, as a piece of AI-generated text. This intriguing controversy raises many questions, most importantly: How could a document, written centuries before the advent of AI, be mistaken as AI-generated?

AI writing detectors, such as ChatGPT, are designed to identify text produced by AI models. When these detectors analyze the U.S. Constitution, they often conclude that it was likely written by an AI. This is, of course, impossible unless James Madison, one of the key drafters of the Constitution, had access to time travel and chatGPT. So, what is the reason behind these false positives?

The use of AI writing tools, particularly generative AI like ChatGPT, has stirred up a whirlwind in the educational sector. Theres a growing concern that these tools could disrupt traditional teaching methods, particularly the use of essays to assess a students understanding of a topic. In response, educators are turning to AI writing detectors, such as GPTZero, ZeroGPT, and OpenAIs Text Classifier, in an attempt to maintain the status quo. However, these tools have proven to be unreliable due to their propensity for false positives.

For instance, when GPTZero is fed a section of the U.S. Constitution, it declares that the text is likely to be written entirely by AI. Similar results have been observed with other AI detectors, leading to a wave of confusion and humor about the possibility of the founding fathers being robots. Even religious texts, like sections from The Bible, have been flagged as AI-generated.

To comprehend why these tools make such glaring errors, we need to delve into the underlying principles of AI detection. AI writing detectors use AI models that have been trained on a vast body of text, along with a set of rules to determine if the writing is human or AI-generated. For example, GPTZero uses a neural network trained on a diverse corpus of human-written and AI-generated text. It then uses properties like perplexity and burstiness to evaluate the text.

Perplexity, in the context of machine learning, measures how much a piece of text deviates from what an AI model has learned during its training. The idea is that AI models like ChatGPT, when generating text, will naturally gravitate towards what they know best, which comes from their training data. The closer the output is to the training data, the lower the perplexity rating. However, humans can also write with low perplexity, especially when imitating a formal style used in law or certain types of academic writing.

In other words, just because something sounds generic, doesnt mean it comes from AI, and that seems to be how these programs are judging things.

This phenomenon underscores the limitations of AI writing detectors and the need for a more...

And this dad shared his story on the page to ask readers if hes acting like an a**hole in regard to his son.

Lets see whats going on here!

AITA for telling my son hes not going on his senior class trip if he doesnt show up to his brothers graduation?

My three kids all have graduations this week.

One high school, one elementary and one preschool.

My high school son Liam said he has zero interest in going to his younger brothers graduation because its lame. I said his brothers are going to his and its more work for them to go than for him to go to theirs.

Yesterday he said hes still not going. I said okay then youre not going on your senior trip to the Bahamas next week. He walked away without saying a word and went to his moms. His mom then texted me about my being petty. I told her to mind her business. This has nothing to do with her. This is between our son and my other sons (half brothers to Liam).

I texted him information about the graduations and havent heard back. If he doesnt show up then Ill cancel his little school trip. He can go to his mom and shell...

Climate Activists Crash Hamptons Museum Gala With Calls to Tax the Rich "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Climate activists made a splash in the overcast Hamptons last weekend when they gathered outside the Parrish Art Museum to denounce alleged financiers of our environmental downfall. Moving to Chicago, for this native New Yorker, was confusing at times. How come the trains stop running at 1am? Why is the pizza so thick? Must we call them speed humps? A cool plunge in the lake is never far away and people put trash in alleyways instead of piling it on steamy sidewalks. Best of all, the galleries stay open throughout August, and the museums and nonprofit art spaces deliver some of their best exhibitions of the year. Dont believe me? Dorte Mandrup Reveals Plans for Canadas Long-Awaited Inuit Cultural Heritage Centre

Dorte Mandrup - Nunavut - Inuit Heritage Centre

Image: MIR

In 1993, Nunavut Agreement gave the Inuit a large swath of land in Canada's largest Aboriginal land claim settlement. After 30 years, a heritage center honoring Inuit culture is finally taking shape. While the agreement had always called for a heritage center, it's only now that this important space to preserve artifacts and traditions is moving forward. In an exciting development, the Danish architecture studio Dorte Mandrup won the international competition to design the center.

The firm was selected due to its ability to take inspiration from Inuit culture and the natural environment. In fact, the design recalls the manner in which snowdrifts are shaped by wind. These stunning patterns, called kalutoqaniq in Inuit, have long been a natural wayfinding system for the Indigenous people inhabiting the area. By incorporating the concept into the design, Dorte Mandrup has created a structure that pays homage to the Inuit and, at the same time, blends effortlessly into the environment.

The Inuit Heritage Centre will be situated on the northern of Iqaluitthe capital of the Nunavut territory. According to an official statement, it's designed to promote greater awareness of Inuit culture and support cultural healing and reconciliation between Inuit and non-Inuit by offering a place where Inuit can reconnect with their collective past through objects, stories, and activities.

Adorable Baby Otter Has to Cuddle Her Orange Cat Friend to Take a Nap

Baby otter cuddling with orange cat

Sometimes all you need is a little cuddle to sleep comfortably. Thats why so many people still sleep with a stuffed animal. This is no different for certain animals. An otter named Sakura is a big cuddler during naps, but its not a plushie that she loves snuggling up next to. She always cuddles her best friend, an orange cat named Mochi. They adorably take naps together with Sakura wrapping her arms around her feline buddy to fall sleep.

The YouTube account ma ko has documented Mochi and Sakura's unlikely friendship. In a now-viral video, we can see them getting ready to sleep, with the otter hugging the cat and letting out a big yawn. It's as if the cat's soft fur doubles as a pillow, and it looks like Sakura loves playing the little spoon. Mochi doesn't seem to mind the additional warmth Sakura provides, and they doze off together.

As adorable as their naps together are, theyre more than just cute little interactions. There are many odd couplings that love to play and run around together, but the fact that Sakura and Mochi love to snuggle side by side signifies they feel safe around one another. On top of their bedtime snuggles, ma ko has also shared a cute video of Sakura looking for Mochi around the house, and looking joyful once she spots her kitty friend.

Pervocrary or pervertocracy, a straight forward definition is a rule by perverts. A destructive and dehumanising form of government now dominant the western world. This is not something arisign from the grass roots. The common people are not fascinated by acts of perversion; abuse, rape, pedophilia, human sacrifice or occultism. People of this kind were hunted down and hung or slaughtered by a mob in the old days.

the top down as a control mechanism. All kinds of embarrashing private weaknesses and perversions are being used to control the politicials to vote favorably for the usuru cabal. In fact such data is actively created and thoroughly documented by operatives like Jeff Eppstein and the like. Politicians are invited in private parties and led into compromising situations, photographed and filmed.

The word pervocrary is painfully depicting of the modern state of democracy. It is right spot on the dirty little secrets of the corrupt perverts dominating the governance of people internationally. Bulbous, biomorphic sculptures in lavender, tangerine, and blush pink rove throughout the airy Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. The largest solo exhibition to date of Barcelona-born artist Eva Fbregas, Devouring Lovers brings massive, bulging works to the industrial hall, juxtaposing the cold iron structures with soft, pudgy forms. Inviting in color and grotesque in shape, the organic, monstrous sculptures appear alive, as if they could grow and swallow up the remaining space, viewers and all.

In a recent interview, Fbregas shares that the interactions between space and the body continually inform her thinking and how she conceptualizes a piece. Its about the architecture. Its about those masses that you put inside the architecture. Its about the humans moving around the architecture, she says. For me, my sculptures are not just themselves, its all the things that happen in the same space that affect that installation.

Devouring Lovers is on view through January 14, 2024. You can find more from Fbregas on Instagram.

Wildlife Photographer Documents Magical Moment When He Locks Eyes With an Animal

Shaaz Jung Photo of a Leopard Looking at the Camera

As a celebrated wildlife photographer, Shaaz Jung knows more about animals than most. But his relationship with wildlife didn't just begin with his photography. Raised in the jungles of South India, Jung grew up understanding the special feeling that occurs when you first lock eyes with an animal in its native environment. And now, in his series Jungle is Watching, Jung is capturing that moment on film.

That moment, when your eyes lock, and you finally see what's been watching you, is exhilarating, he tells My Modern Met. On most days, I look around and see nothing, but every once in a while, I see a leaf move to reveal a pair of eyes. It epitomizes the true nature of the dense jungle where you may not always see them, but theyre always seeing you.

From the calm gaze of a leopard peering around a tree to the little round pupils of a chameleon peeping up from the ground, Jung's images show the beautiful connection between him and the animals he photographs. Above all, Jung hopes that these images demonstrate the power of patience and of respect.

Fully cognizant that he is simply a visitor in the homes of these animals, Jung takes his role as a silent observer quite seriously. This recognition of and respect for the natural environment is most certainly one of the key elements in Jung's success as a wildlife photographer. And it's why he's able to photograph these animals in such a natural, easy manner.

It's his hope that Jungle is Watching will encourage others to follow his lead. I hope this series inspires people to respect nature by silently observing the hidden beauty that lives amongst us.

As a wildlife photographer, Shaaz Jung has an incredible ability to connect with animals.

The Final Dead Show: Part One "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

John Mayer looking good.

Walking into a Dead & Company show is more or less how you imagine it would be: there are nearly forty thousand people converging on a baseball stadium wearing some of the worst outfits you have ever seen in your life. This is really a lot of different types of white people, huh? a first-time attendee said as we walked into the show at San Franciscos Oracle Park (formerly AT&T Park, SBC Global Park, and PacBell Park.) On the street, a white guy with dreadlocks offered us mushrooms. Another white guy with dreadlocks held up a sign that said, Cash, grass, or assIll take it all. A friend, stunned by the famous Northern California fog, bought an ugly tie-dye sweatshirt at a makeshift stand outside the stadium for seventy-eight dollars.

It was the first night of a three-night run of the final shows for this iteration of the Grateful Deadthe last tour ever, the last shows ever, though, as everyone knows, the Grateful Dead has been ending for nearly twenty years. When Jerry Garcia died in 1995, everyone thought that was the end. In 2015, many of the original band members played a tour that was literally called Fare Thee Well. And yet, miraculously, it continued. But this time: Bob Weir is seventy-five, and John Mayer, the get on to. At the very least, this is probably the last time theyll ever sell out huge stadiums. So this was a major event that I had flown out from New York to see with five friends. I had been hearing for days that SFO was like Bonnaroo for Deadheads. On another friends flight in, the pilot told them they were flying over a wildfire in Colorado. Wow, its literally Fire on the Mountain,  someone behind her said.

In line, everyone checked out the scene, craning their necks to see how good other peoples tie-dyes were. One guy was wearing a cape.

Is that Andy Cohen? someone asked.

Traveling Artist Creatively Documents His Adventures in Visually Exciting Sketchbooks

Creative Travel Sketchbooks by Jose Naranja

By drawing in sketchbooks, artists can collect their ideas and record their creative process. For Jos Naranja, his archive of Moleskine notebooks also serve another purpose. Since 2005, the Spanish artist has been documenting his travels with eclectic entries of hand-written notes, watercolor drawings, and additional ephemera that he picks up at each destination.

These small journals offer an intimate view of Naranja's journeys around the world. He includes sketches of many different subjects, ranging from architecture to maps to prints. Mike Pence Squirms As Tucker Carlson Dismantles Neocon Talking Points On Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Tucker Carlson asks Pence why he is more concerned with supplying Ukraine with tanks than the wellbeing of American cities Pences response? American cities arent my concern.
Tucker Carlson utterly dismantled the necon talking points of Trumps former Vice President Mike Pence, during an on-stage interview before a large audience of the FAMiLY Leadership Summit in Iowa on Friday. Rather than respond to Carlsons criticisms about why tens of billions of taxpayer dollars are being spent on far-away Ukraine (which Carlson note is a country most people cant find on a map) rather than focusing on protecting and restoring American cities in decline, a visibly irritated Pence instead vaguely said he could do both. Watch Pence squirm below, as the crowd loudly cheered Carlsons question https://twitter.com/jacksonhinklle/status/1679913626172260355?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1679913626172260355%7Ctwgr%5E29ad2470b0aaf370968acf913239d9f60db0071d%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.zerohedge.com%2Fpolitical%2Fwatch-mike-pence-squirms-carlson-dismantles-neocon-talking-points-ukraine
Pence certainly didnt bring the crown over to his side, which didnt so much as clap during his pat, scripted answer. He also didnt win any friends in bluntly stating (revealingly) that American cities arent my concern. Reporters with The National Review even noticed audible boos during Pences attempt at...

Delightful Wooden Nesting Dolls by Salakauppa Playfully Reimagine Traditional Designs "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Nesting dolls shaped like bears.

The Bears (polar bear, brown bear, panda, moon bear, and Misha) (2014), linden, paint, and lacquer, 210 x 120 millimeters. All designs by Aamu Song / COMPANY, produced in Semenov, Russia. Images Salakauppa, shared with permission

A saltwater food chain, a collection of vegetables, and an acorn maturing through its development stages are just a few of Helsinki-based studio COMPANYs custom nesting dolls. The brainchild of Aamu Song and Johan Olin, COMPANY opened Salakauppasala means secret and kauppa means shop in Finnisha little over 15 years ago to showcase a contemporary take on traditional matryoshkas. Using linden wood, which is soft and easily worked, each doll is designed by Song, then produced by expert craftspeople in Semenov, Russia, who meticulously turn the pieces on a lathe.

The decorative toys date back to the late 19th century when the first set was conceived by folk artist Sergey Malyutin with the assistance of a wood carver named Vasily Zvyozdochkin. The basic design consists of a set of pieces that decrease in size, fitting into one another, and traditionally depict a mother doll whose children, including a baby, fit inside. Song and Olin playfully reimagine the possibilities of matryoshka sets by portraying a diverse range of families, flora, and fauna, emphasizing the joy of discovery as each set is opened to reveal its inner dwellers.

Located for more than a decade in a kiosk in central Helsinki, Salakauppa just relocated to a new storefront, which they describe as a home and temple for their ongoing Secr...

Almost lost the BX25D to the lake. "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

LOL was mowing along sideways on the West slope of what we now call Maple Hill, its a slope that is just on the safe side of the line to mow sideways across. I had my R14 tires on the little tractor which are great dry ground traction tires. A little down pour came down and I just kept mowing through it, it was at most going to be a 10 minute rain with blue skies to the west behind the clouds.

Got to the end of the strip I was mowing and the R14s had collected enough surface mud to...

Bitcoin Miners Selling Again, Will Price Crash Again? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

On-chain data shows that Bitcoin miners may have once again been participating in selling recently, something that could lead to the asset declining.

Bitcoin Miner Reserve Has Been Declining In The Last Two Weeks

As pointed out by an analyst in a CryptoQuant post, the BTC miner reserve has been observing outflows recently. The miner reserve here refers to the total amount of Bitcoin that the miners as a whole are holding in their wallets right now.

When the value of this metric goes up, it means that these chain validators are transferring coins into their addresses currently. This kind of trend can be a sign that the miners are accumulating, and hence, can be bullish for the price of the asset.

On the other hand, the indicator trending down suggests the miners are taking BTC out of their wallets at the moment. Generally, these investors withdraw coins from their reserve for selling-related purposes, so such a trend can have bearish consequences for the cryptocurrencys value.

In the context of the current discussion, the miner reserve itself isnt of interest, but rather its rate of change (ROC) is. This metric keeps track of the percentage changes in the miner reserve over a specific period. Here, the relevant period is the 14-day one.

Now, below is a chart that shows the trend in the 14-day ROC of the Bitcoin miner reserves over the last few months:

Bitcoin miner reserve ROC

As shown in the above graph, the 14-day ROC of the miner reserve had been green last month as Bitcoin had rallied above the $30,000 level. These positive values of the indicator imply that the miner reserve had been rapidly going up.

The timing of these positive ROC values could suggest that the accumulation from the miners might have provided support for the surge in the cryptocurrencys price.

In the first week of this month, though, the metric turned negative, implying that the miner reserve started to decline. The miners look to have continued to withdraw coins from their wallets since then, as the indicators value has remained red.

The Bitcoin price has been struggling in this period, as it hasnt been able to mount up any significant moves. It would appear that this selling...
