FTT Up By 21% Despite FTX Claims Portal Troubles "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

FTT, the native token of the controversial FTX ecosystem, has been pumping lately. This recent price upswing was triggered by the launch of a customer claims portal, an online platform for customers to access their account information and submit electronic proof of claims in FTXs restructuring proceedings.

Although the portal became unavailable barely an hour after launch, the price of FTT has managed to stay afloat, with a 21% increase in the last day.

FTX Claims Portal Goes Offline For Unknown Reasons

Last month, the debtors in FTXs insolvency case announced that an online claims portal was in the final stages of launch. The portal reportedly went live on Tuesday, July 11, enabling customers of the bankrupt crypto exchange to access their account information.

The platform before going offline said users can access their account balance as of November 11, 2022 the day FTX filed for bankruptcy in the United States. Then, if required, customers would also be able to submit an electronic proof of claim with the FTX Debtors claims and noticing agent (Kroll Restructuring Administration).

However, the claims portal only stayed live for about an hour before going down for unknown reasons. As of this writing, there has been no official statement from FTX addressing the crash.

That said, it is worth noting that customers still have until September 29, 2023, to file a claim. This can be done via alternative means besides the website, like through US mail.

FTT Rallies 21% In A Single Day Price Overview

After the FTX claims portal went live yesterday, the FTX token (FTT) received a lot of attention from crypto enthusiasts. And the tokens price showed a positive reaction, gaining more than 24% roughly an hour after the launch.

However, this price surge was short-lived, as the FTT token soon shed a considerable chunk of its early gain. This is understood to be in response to the claims portal going offline.

It is worth noting that FTT has been on a positive run in recent weeks. According to CoinGecko data, the tokens value has increased by nearly 117% in the past month.

That said, it appears that...

Microsoft Has Decided To Lobotomize Its Rebellious AI "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

BingAILobotomy Microsoft Has Decided To Lobotomize Its Rebellious AI

The stories about how Microsoft basically created a monster in their AI, which would give super problematic answers to queries, among other things, have made the rounds.

It would seen Microsoft is listening to the feedback, which ranges from amused to horrified, as theyve lobotomized the program.

The move comes after the tool, codenamed Sydney, went on a tirade and dumped odd stories into news feeds everywhere. This was not, obviously, the sort of publicity Microsoft wanted for its tool, so they decided to give it firm limits instead.

What's the coolest thing you've discovered on a hike? An interesting plant, a pretty rock, or maybe something left behind by another hiker? For one Norwegian dad, a family hike turned into a thrilling discovery. As announced by the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU), an unassuming rock found outside of Oslo is actually covered in ancient Bronze Age rock paintings featuring rowers and standing figures. This pigment has survived thousands of years, and it expands researchers knowledge of the range of such prehistoric art.

Tormod Fjeld, a graphic designer by trade who hunts petroglyphs in his free time, took his family for a hike in the Norwegian woods outside Oslo. The family paused for cookies and juice by a large rock. Looking at the boulder with his practiced eye, Fjeld noticed strange colors. He used an app on his phone to process a photograph of the rock. Pigments are colored by the app, which often indicates if they are naturally occurring or were added by human hands. In this case, humans and animals became clearly visible. I took a picture and went into the app, Fjeld told NIKU. I had something like an out-of-body experience. I didnt really think it could be anything.

He immediately contacted a friend of his who is an archeologist. Eventually the NIKU examined the rock, declaring it to be the first of its kind in the region of stfold and Viken. The paintingswhich show human rowers, standing humans, and animalsare sheltered by a rock protrusion which protects them from the elements. For now, their location remains secret to protect them. They are extremely hard to find due to the faintness of the paint, Jan Magne Gjerde of NIKU told...

Conflux (CFX) Climbs By 11% As Bank of China Begins Sim Card Payment With Digital Yuan "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Conflux (CFX) has recently recorded a significant price rise following a few days of bearish movements. According to data from CoinMarketCap, CFX has gained by 11.39% in the last 24 hours, emerging as the days top gainer. So whats driving this price gain?

Bank of China Announces SIM Card NFC Payments, Sparks Excitement In The Conflux Community.

On July 10, The Bank of China announced it would be commencing the testing of SIM card-linked payments using the digital renminbi known as digital yuan starting from July 11- yesterday.

According to its statement, the state-owned bank claims to be conducting this program in collaboration with telecommunications giants China Telecom and China Unicom.

Related Reading: Conflux (CFX) Sheds 16% Despite $18 Million Investment From DWF Labs

The project aims to enable payments using a near-field communication protocol (NFC) and a technology known as super SIM cards.  Basically, users will be able to process digital yuan payments by bringing their mobile phones in contact with designated payment terminals.

That said, following the emergence of this news in mainstream social media today, there has been a wave of excitement in the CFX community, with some hinting that the latest move by the Bank of China could boost the adoption of CFX in the future.

For context, the Conflux Network signed a partnership with China Telecom to develop a Blockchain-powered SIM card (BSIM) back in May 2023. Given this, it appears that some CFX fans believe the Conflux Network will play a significant role in the new SIM Card e-CNY payment system.

The excitement in the CFX community translated into positive price movement, with CFX surging by 11% this morning to hit a peak price of $0.2031. Prior to this price increase, CFX had seen its market price fall from $0.197 to as low as $0.175 over the last seven days.

At the time of writing, CFX is currently trading at $0.201 with a 0.20% loss in the last hour. However, the tokens trading volume has risen 135.79% and is valued at $75.4 million. With a market cap of $617.6 million, Conflux is ranked as the 67th biggest cryptocurrency on the market.

My Lumbago Isnt Acting Up: On Disney World "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Turkey leg and sea king.

On the first day, God said, Let the atmospheric water vapors condense and become rain, and so there was a downpour, and it was inconvenient. But we had ponchos. It was November at Disney World, and ponchos were like noses or smartphones in that every visitor had one, of course they did, it wasnt even a question.

Soon the rain turned horizontal and worked itself inside the ponchos, and now the condensation cycle in the sky was being restaged on an individual level. Youd think this situationthousands of humans being dumpling-steamed in plastic and packed into a slow boat or a shuttle simulatorwould create a terrible odor, but Disney World was one step ahead: employees (cast members) stationed at the threshold of each attraction kindly asked guests to remove their ponchos before entering, and all obeyed, crumpling wet balls into pockets and backpacks and we saw that it was good.

Id intended to keep a detailed diary at Disney World but totally failed. My notebook has only two notes, both scribbled at Living with the Land, the EPCOT ride where you hop into a boat and glide past an idyllic farmhouse and through a series of greenhouses to learn about crop rotation and pesticide reduction. In our search for more efficient ways to grow food, we often fail to realize the impact of our methods, a narrator explained, channeling Wendell Berry. When we passed a thicket of tomatoes, the narrator revealed that one of EPCOTs tomato plants had yielded thirty-two thousand fruits. A gasp went through the crowd.

As it turned out, Living with the Land features the greatest fantasy in all of Disney World: no dirt. So the first note in my notebook was:

What vacuum cleaner used by maintenance employees @ Land?

Celsius Takes Legal Action Against StakeHound For Withholding $150 Million "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Bankrupt cryptocurrency lender, Celsius Network, has filed a lawsuit against Liquid Staking Platform StakeHound. The crypto lender claims that Stakehound allegedly owes $150 million worth of tokens, including ether (ETH), Polygons MATIC, Polkadots DOT, and other cryptocurrencies, that belong to Celsius.

The complaint was filed as part of Celsius Networks ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. And according to the filing, StakeHound already initiated arbitration against Celsius. StakeHound argued that it was not obligated to exchange native ETH for stTokens after allegedly being confronted with breaching its duties to Celsius.

StakeHound Argues No Obligation to Exchange stTokens, Court Filings State

The crypto lender reportedly entrusted StakeHound in 2021 with 25,000 staked native ETH, 35,000 native ETH, 40 million MATIC, and 66,000 DOT, according to court documents. These tokens are valued at approximately $150 million, as indicated in the court filings.

Celsius received stTokens in exchange for the tokens entrusted to StakeHound, which they could either use for other investments or return to StakeHound in order to retrieve their cryptocurrency.

Court documents reveal that StakeHound initiated an arbitration proceeding against Celsius in Switzerland after the crypto lender filed for bankruptcy. In the arbitration filing, StakeHound claimed that it has no obligation to exchange stTokens for other tokens.

However, Celsius Network also claims that StakeHounds arbitration filing violated the automatic stay rule. This rule falls under Section 362 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

The automatic stay rule under Section 362 of the United States Bankruptcy Code acts as a legal protection and goes into effect when a debtor files for bankruptcy. This provision prohibits most creditors and debt collectors from taking any further action against the debtor or the debtors property without first receiving permission from the bankruptcy court.

The court filing also shows that Celsius argued that StakeHound should be obligated to return Celsius property immediately. It also included compensation for damages resulting from StakeHounds purported breach of contractual duties.

Additionally, according to reports in 2022, Celsius Network lost 35,000 ETH when StakeHound lost private keys for a total of approximately 38,000 ETH. Celsius argues that it should not be obligated to repay these assets.

At the time, StakeHound attributed the loss to Fireblocks and filed a lawsuit against the custody provider in 2021. However, Ce...

Injured Veteran Receives Mortgage-Free Home From Gary Sinise Foundation

Jose Armenta with his family at their new house being built by the Gary Sinise Foundation

Getting a new home is exciting for any family, but it has been particularly emotional for a man named Jose Armenta. The Marine Corps veteran lost both his legs during a tour in Afghanistan, and now, hes being repaid for his service thanks to actor Gary Sinises charity. The Gary Sinise Foundation has gifted Armenta and his family a mortgage-free home. The construction is currently underway in Bonita, California, and the family of five couldn't be more excited and thankful.

Armenta served as a canine handler alongside a dog named Zenit. In 2011, he stepped on a pressure plate full of homemade explosives during a security patrol. The corporal woke up five days later in Germany to realize both his legs from just above the knees were gone.

If we never give up, then well never lose, he positively stated. And if we allow it, the worst day of our life may become the most defining day. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2013, but continued to serve working as a police dispatcher on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Looking for purpose and finding inspiration in personal finance, he became a financial advisor dedicated to helping federal employees.

Still, some things had yet to fall into place. While he had added wheelchair ramps to his home, it wasn't fully accessible. I am especially haunted by the memory of falling with my infant son, he confesses. Although the baby was not injured, he feared he could not properly take care of his childr...

Whats the Easiest or Laziest Way You Ever Lost Weight? Heres What People Said. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

ARLazyWeightLoss Whats the Easiest or Laziest Way You Ever Lost Weight? Heres What People Said.

There are some people out there who can just lose weight like its no problem at all.

They dont eat right, they dont exercise, they drink all kinds of booze, and they still drop pounds.

Some people are just like that

Lets hear from AskReddit users about the easiest and laziest ways they ever lost weight.

Good one!

VR games.

I bought my kids Quest headsets for Christmas and accidentally lost 10 lbs playing when the kids were asleep.

Got myself one and lost another 30 lbs playing Beatsaber.

Well, now you know

Stopped drinking beer last summer.

Lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks.

Started drinking again in the fall, gained it all back.

Sorry for your loss.

My wife d**d on Easter Sunday. We were together over 20 years. I have lost 70 pounds in the two months since. Last week alone I lost 13.

I probably also lost a fair amount prior while sleeping in the ICU as we failed at each step to make it to chemo. My doctor says my weight loss is okay (as a temporary thing), but wants me to try to stay above 500 calories a day and not pass out. Mostly I live on the cream in my morning coffee.

I do not recommend this method. Also, as she had a heck of a dark sense of humor, Ill point out that she lost even more weight than I have via cremation, although it was mostly water weight. Super e...

Polygon Volume Registers Sharp Increase, What Does It Mean? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

On-chain data shows the Polygon trading volume has seen a significant increase compared to the other altcoins. Heres what this means for MATIC.

Polygon Trading Volume Has Observed A Sharp Jump Recently

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, altcoins have observed an increase in trading volume during the last few days. The trading volume here is an indicator that measures the daily total amount of a given cryptocurrency thats getting involved in transactions on the blockchain.

When the value of this metric is high, it means that a large number of tokens are being shifted around on the network. Such a trend can be a sign that traders of the asset are actively participating in the market right now.

On the other hand, low values imply that the cryptocurrency is observing a low amount of activity currently. This kind of trend can suggest that there isnt much interest in the coin among general investors at the moment.

Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the trading volume of some of the largest assets in the sector over the past week:

Polygon Trading Volume

As displayed in the above graph, the trading volume of most of the altcoins had declined to relatively low values a few days back, implying that interest in them had dropped.

However, during the last couple of days or so, the indicators value has bounced back for these assets, suggesting that investors are once again participating in trading.

From the chart, its visible that two altcoins in particular have enjoyed the sharpest increase in the metric: Polygon and BNB. This would mean that these cryptocurrencies have a stronger interest backing them right now.

Generally, high amounts of volume are needed to sustain any sharp moves in the price. This is because a high volume implies the presence of a large number of traders, who can provide fuel for building any such move.

Thus, whenever the trading volume rises for any asset, the price of the coin becomes more likely to show volatility. Which direction such volatile price action might take the cryptocurrency in is hard to say from the volume alone, however.

In the case of Polygon and BNB, though, a surge in their prices...

Photographer and Model Break World Record for Deepest Underwater Photoshoot

World Record Underwater Photo Shoot by Steve Haining

What began as a joke on how to safely conduct a photo shoot during COVID-19 restrictions soon turned into a creative adventure that Steve Haining will never forget. The Canadian photographer worked with model Ciara Antoski and a host of experts to produce an epic photoshoot that went up to 32 feet underwater. It not only resulted in gorgeous photos but also earned Haining a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the deepest underwater photo shoot with a model.

After Haining was told that shooting in pools, a controlled environment he was used to working in, wasn't possible during the pandemic, he joked about taking things outdoors. That quickly spiraled into an adventure that had him seeking out advice from renowned photographers Benjamin Von Wong and Brett Stanley, who shared their own experiences working in open water.

Working with an expert safety diver, Haining and his favorite underwater model ventured to Canada's shipwreck capital, Tobermory, Ontario. Antoski had worked to perfect posing while working at such depths and also submerged herself in ice baths to prepare herself for the freezing temperatures. While they'd both practiced for the moment, nothing could prepare them for the day of the shoot.

The shoot brought about specific challenges that Haining had to adapt to. This included communicating with Antoski in terms of what was needed from her when she took her place in the shipwreck.

Summer Squash Pasta Deliciosa "IndyWatch Feed Food"

This dish is the perfect showcase of my favorite summer veggies and is cooling and refreshing. I love it so much and could eat it every day. I served this dish at a cooking competition and won Grand Prize, Best Flavor and Most Locally Used Ingredients all three prizes that were offered! I have served it at parties as well and everyone always raves. When I started writing recipes for LNF, I was not technically gluten free, but had been avoiding grains for the most part for about 8 years already. A few years later, as I have fine tuned my diet even more, I have all but eliminated gluten from my diet. I feel that gluten containing grains can be a healthful food if properly prepared (if soaked, sprouted and soured) but since genetic engineering has raised its ugly head and it has been found out that most wheat is GE (even organic), I pretty much avoid it.

It is amazing this is not being served at fine dining restaurants as it is so gourmet and delicious. This will fulfill your need for pasta if you are gluten free and give you added nutrition as this pasta is made with veggies, not grain. I do not normally recommend buying additional kitchen gadgets, but I make an exception with this one as it makes such interesting noodles and other vegetable shapes. It is called a Taglialegumi or Turning Slicer (English translation) made by Paderno from Italy.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium sized Summer Squash you can use a combo of interesting summer squash. Try the many beautiful heirloom varieties for a beautiful dish. At least try a combination of zucchini and yellow squash.
  • 2 Heirloom Tomatoes try different varieties and colored tomatoes (Brandywine are my favorites)
  • 2 Bell Peppers try different colors (now there are purple, brown, yellow, orange and red peppers (I avoid green as they can be hard to digest) (if you have the opportunity, grill the bell peppers for added flavor)
  • 4 medium sized Garlic cloves
  • cup Soft Goat Cheese or Feta (optional)
  • cup Olive Oil the best tasting olive oil you can find
  • 2 teaspoons good salt
  • Fresh Ground Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of each fresh herbs -basil, oregano, thyme
  • cup toasted pine nuts or walnuts
  • Tools
  • Taglialegumi or Turning Slicer

Instructions

  1. Use the Taglialegumi (or spiralizer as I call it) to make noodles with the squash. Place in a large bowl.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of salt over the squash and toss together.
  3. Slice up the tomatoes and bell peppers and add to the bowl.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for June, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics today, has sent ripples of optimism throughout the Bitcoin and crypto market. The latest figures reveal a surprising cooling in inflation, which has ignited hopes of a positive outlook.

According to the data, the headline CPI year-over-year (YoY) inflation fell to 3.0%, coming in below expectations of 3.1%. This represents a noteworthy decline from the previous months 4.0% figure.

Even more encouraging is the fact that core CPI YoY inflation dropped to 4.8%, surpassing market expectations of 5.0%. Notably, this is the first time the core CPI has fallen below 5.0% since December 2021, leading analysts at The Kobeissi Letter to remark, The 26-month battle against inflation may finally be nearing its end.

On a month-on-month (m/m) basis, headline CPI came in at 0.3%, picking up slightly compared to May (+0.1%). Meanwhile, core CPI m/m came in lower than expected, landing at 0.3% instead of 0.4%.

Why The CPI Data Is Crucial For Bitcoin And Crypto

The Fed has raised interest rates by 5.0 basis points since March 2022 to bring down the highest inflation in the US in four decades. During the June meeting, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announced a pause for the first time in this cycle to give itself time to assess the still-evolving impact of the previous hikes. Fed Chair Jerome Powell, as always, stressed data dependency.

Prior to the release of the CPI and core CPI, the market was expecting a 92% probability (according to the CME Fed Watch Tool) that Fed policymakers would decide in favor of a 0.25 basis points rate hike at their July 25-26 meeting, which would bring the policy rate into the 5.25% to 5.50% range. Todays figures are likely to influence the decision by the Fed. However,

San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly recently said at a Brookings Institution event that the Fed may end up doing less because we have to do less; we may end up doing just that; we may end up doing more. The data will tell us.

Despite that, 20 minutes after the CPI release, the CME Fed Watch Tool still displayed a 89% of a 25 basis point hike at the end of July. Renowned journalis...

Kava Brushes Off Market Downtrend, Gains 11% On Weekly Chart "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

KAVA is one of the Layer-1 blockchains in the crypto industry with links to two top blockchains, Ethereum and Cosmos. The network combines the Cosmos blockchain, and the EVM technology boosting its speed, security, and maximum scalability. It also utilizes the developer support of the Ethereum network.

As such, Kava supports cross-chain interoperability, allowing users to transfer assets between Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems. Kavas native token, KAVA, which powers all the transactions on the blockchain, currently sits at the 62nd position on Coinmarketcap rankings

At the time of writing today, July 12, KAVAs market cap stands at $661,668,155, showing an increase of 5.95%. Also, the coin has recorded more gains in 7 days than other top coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum, showing losses in their weekly gains.

KAVA Posts Positive Price Moves Amid Plummeting Trading Volume

KAVAs price stands at $1.06, depicting a gain of 5.51% in 24 hours, while the weekly price shows an 11.31% increase. But KAVAs trading volume currently stands at $59,625,037, a decline of 22.88%. This is unexpected, given the increasing price gains.

Looking at the declining volume, trading activities with KAVA show low participation. Also, the global market Fear & Greed Index is currently at 57, depicting Neutral. As such, the current gains on KAVA may not be sustainable.

Also, KAVAs daily chart on TradingView, shows that the RSI is at 62 moving towards the overbought region of 70. Such a movement suggests a trend reversal to the downside once the asset reaches the overbought region.

So while traders might be encouraged by the greenish moves today, represented by KAVAs trend above the 50-day moving average, they should be careful, given the possibility of a downtrend soon.

Network Upgrade And USDT Launch Might Be Pushing KAVA

Many factors affect the prices of crypto assets. Some of these factors include market-wide sentiment, network developments, news, regulations, etc. Regarding KAVAs price gains today, network developments and events are seemingly responsible for it.

The much anticipated Kava 14 blockchain upgrade is slated for today, July 12, at the block height of 5,597,000 at 3:00 p.m. UTC. GitHub reveals that the release will facilitate the seamless unlocking of Cosmos native assets on Kava EVM. Not only that, it will support the

What Movie Is Actually Better Than the Book? Heres What People Said. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

ARMovieBetterThanBook What Movie Is Actually Better Than the Book? Heres What People Said.

Its pretty commonplace to hear that people like a book better than the movie version, but today were going to flip that old adage on its head and well hear from AskReddit users about movies they think are actually better than the book.

Yall ready for this?

Get started now!

Different plot.

Who Framed(Censored) Roger Rabbit.

The books plot is very different, and the characters are all unlikeable. Eddie isnt a tragic character whos dealing with his brothers death by drinking his life away and alienating all the toons he used to befriend.

Hes a hard bitten, hard drinking a**hole just because. Roger is dead, and the character who ki**ed him doesnt really make any sense.

The producers of the movie took the idea of a world with toons and humans and threw away the plot. They made the right choice; the movie turned out amazing.

Amazing film.

Jaws, in my opinion.

The book is not bad, dont get me wrong, but the characters in it are extremely unlikeable. I think Spielberg was right to eliminate some of the subplots and to buff the characters up to be more likable/relatable.

Also, the end of the book kinda sucked. I wont spoil it, but compared to the movie its extremely anti-climatic.

I still like both, the book is still a very good read and I understand why it was such a phenomenon, but Ill always say the...

Aptos (APT) Succumbs To Bearish Pressure, Loses 10% In A Single Week "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

APT, the native cryptocurrency of the Aptos blockchain, continues to exhibit an underwhelming market performance in 2023. Following a somewhat positive run at the beginning of July, it seems the bears are back in control, with APTs value dipping by nearly 10% in the last seven days.

This has pretty much been the case for the APT token since the end of January as its price has declined steadily since reaching its all-time high of $18.58 on January 26.

APT Falls By 14% In One Week Price Overview

The Aptos token made a bright start to July, gaining more than 13% in a few days. However, the prominent altcoin has shed all its recent gains, now trading below the months opening price of $7.29.

Related Reading: Dogecoin (DOGE) Price Downtrend Set To Persist What To Expect

After reaching a high of $8.24 on July 4, the Aptos token experienced a significant decline, bringing its value to $7.15 two days later.

Since then, it appears that the coins price has been moving mostly sideways. But it is worth noting that APT fell below the $7 price level for the first time this month on July 8. The token dropped below this level again on July 10 before climbing back to $7.18 the following day.

As of this writing, APT is valued at $7.03, with a mere 0.3% gain in the past 24 hours. According to CoinGecko data, the coin has a market capitalization of over $1.48 billion, making it the 36th-biggest cryptocurrency. The Aptos token has a 24-hour trading volume of roughly $48.9 million, representing a 14.6% decline in the past day.

Is The Downward Trend Over?

A look at the daily chart shows that the APT token faces significant resistance at the $8 price zone. The tokens price has failed to break through this level twice in the past three weeks, falling back to $7 at each instance.

That said, the daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicates that the selling pressure is high at the moment, having crossed below the 50 mark. This means there may not be sufficient buying pressure to push the tokens price above the $8 resistance.

Meanwhile, price action data reveals that APT has been stuck in a downtrend channel since the high of $16.22 made on February 16, 2023. Over the past five months, Aptos has failed to record a higher high, while writing three lower lows.

If Aptos continues in its descending trend channel, we might see its price fall below $4. On the flip side, if it manages to break out of the downtr...

With Crumbling Economic Fundamentals, The Future Of Bitcoin Adoption In Norway Is Bright "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Rune stgrd and Alexander Ellefsen, financial writers based in Norway.

Although we dont have exact numbers on Bitcoin adoption globally, we do know that the global average cryptocurrency adoption rate was estimated to be at about 12% in 2022 and that bitcoin currently has about half of the total market cap of the global cryptocurrency market. Turkey (27.1%) and Argentina (23.5%) topped the 2022 adoption list, and the countries with the most inflation seem to have the highest adoption rates.

The oil-rich nation of Norway is at 8% cryptocurrency adoption, which is just two-thirds of the global average. Considering that it has a rather tech-savvy population, this is surprisingly low. The following factors might provide some explanation:

But a significant weakening of the Norwegian krone (NOK) may begin to incentivize more people and businesses to join the Bitcoin economy.

The NOKs value has depreciated slowly but steadily since the financial crisis, and the frog boiling effect might be the reason why there has been so little focus on it. This has changed in the last few months, as the depreciation has gained momentum. At the time of writing, it takes 10.7 NOK to buy $1, up from 4.9 NOK in 2008. At its worst this year, the NOK had depreciated 10% against the USD, and even performed worse than the Turkish lira and one of the poorest European countrys currency, the Moldovan lei...

She Got Upset Because She Got Coal for Christmas. Was She Wrong? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

AITACoalforXmas She Got Upset Because She Got Coal for Christmas. Was She Wrong?

Some jokes backfire in spectacular fashion, dont they?

And this sounds like one of those times!

Did this woman act like an a**hole when she got a lump of coal for Christmas?

Lets take a look at what she had to say

AITA for not wanting coal for Christmas?

This year I went to my fiancs house for Christmas. It was my first time going, as we would typically go to my familys house instead.

I got a (rather pricey) gift for my fianc Dan related to his hobbies, I got nice gifts for Dans parents based off of things Id talked about with them before, and I got a small pack of chocolates for each of Dans other relatives (I didnt know them that well).

I wasnt expecting many gifts from Dans relatives because I didnt know many of them that well, but I was certainly expecting more than I got.

At first, I was excited when I saw that there was a big pile of gifts for me. However, once I opened the first one it was just a piece of coal. Everyone laughed, and I just kind of laughed along thinking it was a gag gift and that the other gifts would be different. But every single one turned out to be coal. All 18 of them.

I started to get upset, so I cried and lashed out at Dan. But he calmly explained apparently this is a longstanding tradition in his family where they gift coal to newcomers who are celebrating Christmas with them for the first time. He explained that its just easier that way since all the relatives who might not know the newcomer well dont have to stress...

Shiba Inu Ecosystem Token BONE Surges 88%, Too Late To Buy? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Shiba Inu ecosystem token Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) has seen a staggering 88% price increase within the last 28 days, since Jun 15. Last Saturday, the price rally stopped for the time being at just under $1.50, which means that the Shiba Inu-based token has already experienced an interim price increase of over 120%.

Since then, the BONE price has been in a consolidation. A look at the 1-day chart of BONE shows that the price initially shot above the 50% Fibonacci retracement level, but failed to defend the gains on a daily basis and eventually fell below the resistance. Thus, the $1.38 level is the key resistance.

The current correction has caused the overheated daily RSI to reset from 81 to 61. Still, further consolidation might be needed to ignite further upside potential. A target for bears could be the 100-day exponential moving average (EMA)and the 38.2% Fibonacci level in the $1.00 to $1.01 range.

After a potentially necessary reset of technical indicators and another breakout above $1.38, the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at $1.50 and the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level at $1.80 would then be the next targets before the all-time high of late February 2023 at $2.10 would be within reach.

Shiba Inu: Reasons For The BONE Price Rally

The main reason for the current rally in the price of Shibaswap Bone (BONE) can be seen in the announcement by Shiba Inu chief developer Shytoshi Kusama about the launch of Shibarium next month. BONE will be the governance token of the upcoming highly anticipated layer 2 network and will also serve as a gas token.

As NewsBTC reported, Kusama published a new blog post last week stating that Shibarium will likely be unveiled at the Blockchain Futurist Conference. The conference will be held on August 15 and 16 in Toronto, Canada.

BONE will then not only be the official governance token for Shibarium, but will al...

Coinbase Stock Surges Nearly 10% Despite Cathie Woods Ark Invest $12 Million Sale "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Coinbase, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges has experienced a surge in its stock price, despite a large sale of shares by Cathie Woods Ark Investment Management LLC.

On July 11, Ark Investment Management sold approximately 135,152 Coinbase shares, worth around $12 million. This marked Cathie Woods first sale of Coinbase shares since July 26, after nearly 11 months of consistently buying up the stock.

Cathie Woods Ark Investment Management Sells Significant Stake In Coinbase

Cathie Woods investment in Coinbase solidified Ark Investment Management as one of the major stakeholders, ranking fourth in terms of Coinbase shares held. However, the recent sale by Ark Investment Management suggests a shift in strategy as the firm decided to put a pause on its buying spree.

Notably, Cathie Woods Coinbase stock buying frenzy came at a time when the crypto market was in a period of uncertainty, specifically during the regulatory scrutiny from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the fallout from the FTX exchange, and an increase in bankruptcy cases which cast a shadow over investor sentiment.

Though there are no specific reasons why Cathie Wood has decided to sell a large portion of its Coinbase shares, this move can be attributed to being a reflection of a calculated response to the current market conditions.

Over the past month, the US regulator has intensified its scrutiny of the industry and this intensification has impacted even larger players in the industry such as Binance and Coinbase. Both exchanges saw the US SEC file a lawsuit against them over the alleged offering of unregulated securities.

COIN Buck The Trend

Despite the large sale of Coinbases shares by Ark Investment Management, the market reacted unexpectedly as the stock price defied expectations and surged by nearly 10% in just one day. Particularly, over the past 24 hours, Coinbase shares saw an increase of 9.78%, reflecting a positive investor sentiment.

Among millions and millions imprisoned in the Holocaust, one man in particular stands out and stood out even to his Nazi captors. At the Mauthausen garage yard, a black point stood about amidst the dust-colored multitude, writes novelist Joaquim Amat-Piniella. Its a black boy from Barcelona, born in Spanish Africa. The officer who had spotted him from the balcony ordered that he be brought up to him. His robust and muscular body surprised the Nazis, as did his cultivation: that he responded to their questions in German may well have kept him from being sent immediately to the gas chamber. His name was Carlos Jos Grey Molay, also known as Carlos Greykey, and his remarkable life story is the subject of 5124.GREYKEY, Enric Ribes short documentary film above.

Narrated by Greykeys daughter Muriel Grey Molay, 5124.GREYKEY uses retro techniques, recreated home movies and personal/archival photography to visualise a daughters memories of an enigmatic father. So writes Rob Munday at Short of the Week, going on to describe the film as consisting of painstakingly recreated home movies (reshot on Super 8 and 16mm as Muriel couldnt retrieve them), photos (both from Muriels archive and historic archives) and stop-motion (created by S/W alums I+G Stop Motion).

Bitcoin Market Braces For CPI Figures: Will BTC Rally Or Retreat Today? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

As the highly anticipated US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for June is set to be released today at 8:30 am EST, the Bitcoin (BTC) market finds itself at a crucial crossroads. With inflation concerns lingering and the Federal Reserves next moves under scrutiny, market participants eagerly await the impact of the CPI figures on BTCs price trajectory. The expectations are as follows:

  • Headline y/y at 3.1% (last 4.0%)
  • Headline m/m at 0.3% (last 0.1%)
  • Core CPI y/y of 5.0% (last 5.3%)
  • Core CPI m/m of 0.3% (last 0.4%)

The Feds Battle Against Inflation

In recent months, inflationary pressures have been a cause for concern, capturing the attention of investors and economists alike. While headline inflation is cooling off fast and expected to fall further to 3.1% (from 4.0% in May), it is the core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, that has become increasingly important.

In recent public appearances, members of the Federal Reserve (Fed) have maintained a hawkish stance and expressed concerns about a potential resurgence of inflation regarding the elevated core inflation. The underlying concern stems from the fact that inflation has primarily declined due to resolving supply chain problems, while core inflation remains elevated.

The rise in wages could contribute to a cycle of increasing sticky core inflation. Although core CPI was at 5.3% in May, experts now anticipate a gradual decline to 5.0% in June. While this is progress, it shows how sticky core inflation currently remains. An unexpectedly sharp drop would therefore be extremely bullish.

Any number below expectation could lead to a rally in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets, as Christopher Inks, renowned trader and psychology coach, tweeted:

CPI will be released with a large expected drop from 4% last time to 3.1% expected this time around for the headline number. If core CPI comes in below 5%, that would be huge, and you better hold onto your britches. Will used car sales send core down much greater than expected?

A surprise in core inflation could have a significant impact on the next rate hike decision by the Fed. The next FOMC meeting is on July 26. At the moment, the CME FedWatch tool predicts with 92.4% a 25 bps rate hike which is holding back the markets. This probability is likely to drop massively if the core CPI surprises to the downside.

As usual, JP Morgan has drawn up a game plan for the S&P 500 in view of todays release of the Consumer Price Index. According to the banking giant, a drop in the CPI to 3%-3.2% has the highest probability at 45%. The S&P 500 could then gain between 0.5-0.75%.

The second-highest probability is given by JP Morgan to a drop in the headline CPI to 2.8% to 2.9% (25%). In this case, the S&P 500 could rise by 1.5-1.75%. Moreover, the banking gi...

Why?

Because it backfired spectacularly and all of the employees who were encouraged to speak their minds were chewed out by management after we were open and honest in our responses.

And it seems like the guy who posted this video on TikTok pretty much feels the same way.

  • 'Quran Sanctity Day': The Pakistani Government's Fight Against Desecration

https://www.atheistrepublic.com/news/quran-sanctity-day-pakistani-governments-fight-against-desecration

Location: Pakistan

Despite deep concerns over freedom of speech and expression, the Pakistani government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has declared July 7th as "Quran Sanctity Day" in response to a controversial incident in Sweden where an Iraqi refugee reportedly desecrated the Quran. This act, which occurred in Stockholm, has been characterized by some as an exercise of free expression, while others perceive it as a deeply offensive act of sacrilege. Nationwide rallies were held on this day to protest against the event, calling upon all citizens and political entities to exhibit unity against such disrespectful actions. Simultaneously, the Pakistani Parliament voiced its dismay and aims to pass a resolution denouncing the Quran burning. Internationally, the Pakistani Ambassador in Geneva, in coordination with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), successfully initiated an urgent discussion at the UN Human Rights Council about the alarming rise in religious hatred, as exemplified by the Quran desecration. The OIC emphasizes freedom of speech but seeks preventative action against such disrespectful acts and the creation of legal deterrents. While these reactions reflect the profound significance of the Quran in the Islamic faith, they also underscore an ongoing global tension between the rights to freedom of expression and the respect for religious sensitivities.

She Didnt Show Up at the Party Her Husband Planned for Her. Is She a Jerk?

Im all for a funny prank every once in a while, but when it goes too far or it happens ALL THE TIME, its pretty annoying.

And the woman who wrote this story on Reddits Am I the A**hole? page wants to know if she was out of line for not showing up to the birthday party that her husband planned for her.

But it sounds like she had a good reason to not attend

Take a look at her story and see what you think.

AITA for not showing up to the birthday party that my husband planned for me?

So, my husband is a jokester and a prankster. He has a habit of pulling pranks especially on my birthdays!

He judges my reactions as overreactions and says I should loosen up and be extra happy because he thinks hes making my birthdays extra funny. But it actually upset me and put me in a position where I get laughed at and recorded by his family.

He planned for my 26th birthday this past week, which was held at a restaurant. I told him I wouldnt go if he was going to pull one of those pranks hes famous for because its a public place and I did not want to be publicly humiliated.

He swore on his mom, on the bible, promised me and brought two witnesses. Wrote an agreement stating hed pay $ money if he pulled a prank. I believed him and said that Id go. I had to cancel with my parents who wanted to celebrate at their...

Disney Crowd Sizes Shockingly Low Amid Backlash "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

By Tom Ozimek,
Walt Disney World crowd sizes over the July 4th long weekend were shockingly thin, according to tracking data provider Touring Plans, which predicted that the low-attendance trend seems poised to continue amid ongoing conservative backlash to what some describe as a woke agenda. Disney has been embroiled in a legal and political fight with Florida governor Ron DeSantis which was triggered by the companys opposition to a bill that bans discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. The company has also faced streaming losses and its stock was recently downgraded in part due to fears of lower attendance at its Disney World and Disneyland theme parks

7 Best Prenatal Vitamins in 2019 "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

Before you part with your cash, you probably want to know which are the best prenatal vitamins in 2019. You want to give your baby the best start possible, and taking care of your health during pregnancy is the best way to go about that. Were here to help answer the question of what are the best prenatal vitamins in 2019 to take?

There are lots of different bottles and packets on the chemist shelves, all claiming to be the right one for you and your baby. How do you know which prenatal vitamin is best? Do they all do pretty much the same thing or are there variations between brands? Perhaps most importantly, which ones will your sensitive tummy be able to cope with now that youre battling pregnancy nausea?

Do I need prenatal vitamins?

Yes, you need to take prenatal vitamins for pregnancy to ensure you are getting all of the nutrients you and your baby need. While you may be able to get lots of vitamins and minerals by eating a healthy, balanced diet, its always wise to take a prenatal vitamin to be on the safe side. Even a healthy diet can lack nutrients. Taking the best prenatal vitamins means you can rest assured that youre getting everything you need, even when pregnancy nausea is restricting your diet.

How are prenatal vitamins different from other vitamins?

Prenatal vitamins differ from other vitamins because they are specifically designed to meet the needs of a pregnant woman. Your body is growing a human being from scratch and it needs a specific set of nutrients for that. Prenatal vitamins contain high amounts of folic acid which help to prevent neural tube defects. Many top-rated prenatal vitamins also contain iron which you need higher amounts of during pregnancy.

Editor's Note: Interesting that Disney passed on releasing this film, but made another Pedo Jones film...

Why was Indiana Jones depicted as a pedophile and Raiders of the Lost Ark? Does that bring the movie down in a modern lens? "I was a child. I was in love." "You knew what you were doing." Was there a political debate over the age of consent back then that made its way into the film at the time? There seems to be no defense that can be made for this and it bothers me that one of my favorite films has an attitude of complacency toward grooming minors. This is a level of complexity I don't welcome when it comes to writing characters. This scene is never really resolved. Indy never admits it was wrong. I don't like the idea that pedos can be heroes if they have an unrepentant attitude. What does it say about Steven Spielberg, George Lucas or whoever it was that wrote the movie? Karen Allen said she doesn't see Indy as a pedophile in an interview. Oh, well I guess that resolves it. Thank you for that input, Karen. Nobody is a pedo if you think they aren't. The numbers don't matter in the face of personal opinion, I guess.

Lancet Study on Covid Vaccine Autopsies Finds 74% Were Caused by Vaccine Study is Removed Within 24 Hours "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A Lancet review of 325 autopsies after Covid vaccination found that 74% of the deaths were caused by the vaccine but the study was removed within 24 hours. The paper, a pre-print that was awaiting peer-review, is written by leading cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough, Yale epidemiologist Dr. Harvey Risch and their colleagues at the Wellness Company and was published online on Wednesday on the pre-print site of the prestigious medical journal. However, less than 24 hours later, the study was removed and a note appeared stating: This preprint has been removed by Preprints with the Lancet because the studys conclusions are not supported by the study methodology. While the study had not undergone any part of the peer-review process, the note implies it fell foul of screening criteria. The original study abstract can be found in the Internet Archive. It reads (with my emphasis added):
Background: The rapid development and widespread deployment of COVID-19 vaccines, combined with a high number of adverse event reports, have led to concerns over possible mechanisms of injury including systemic lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and mRNA distribution, spike protein-associated tissue damage, thrombogenicity, immune system dysfunction and carcinogenicity. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate possible causal links between COVID-19 vaccine administration and death using autopsies and post-mortem analysis. Methods: We searched for all published autopsy and necropsy reports relating to COVID-19 vaccination up until May 18th, 2023. We initially identified 678 studies and, after screeni...

Cancer New Moon Ritual July 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Cancer New Moon arrives on the highly auspicious day of July 17, 2023. On this day, the Lunar Nodes also shift signs for the first time in almost two years, signifying both the start and end of a karmic cycle.

With karmic energy strong under this New Moon, we may find ourselves pushed and pulled in new directions. New opportunities may present themselves, or we may discover inner shifts and changes that begin guiding us in a new way.

You can read more about the July 2023 Cancer New Moon here, but if you want to work deeper with the energies, here is a ritual to guide you. This ritual is designed to bring nourishment to your mind, body, and soul, while also strengthening and repairing your connection with the Divine Mother within. I hope you enjoy it!

Cancer New Moon Divine Mother Ritual

This ritual is best done between July 13-23, 2023

You will need:

Directions:

1.) Start with your Cosmic Healing Meditation. This meditation is designed to bring subtle healing frequencies to the body using certain hand positions. It is easy and relaxing to follow along with, and will help to prep you for the rest of this ritual.

2.) After your meditation, get your paper and colored pencils/markers and think of someone close to you that you love deeply- they do not have to be living. If you really want to dive deep into some healing work, pick your mother (even if you have a strained relationship), as under the Cancer New Moon, working with your mother or the mother wound will help to mend your connection with feminine energy, help attract higher love, facilitate heart healing, and restore your connection with self-nourishment.

3.) Close your eyes and bring your mother or the person you have chosen into your awareness. Meditate for a moment, imagining you are sending deep love, comfort, forgiveness, and strength to this person. Do this for 10-15 minutes.

4.) Then open your eyes, and begin drawing a symbol that represents the bond and connection you have with this person. If you are working with a strained relationship, draw the sym...

Custodia's Lawsuit Against The Fed Exposes The Fractional Reserve Banking Model "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Custodia, an innovative bitcoin and cryptocurrency bank seeking to establish a charter in Wyoming, took a bold step by filing a groundbreaking lawsuit against the Federal Reserve on June 7, 2022. The legal action stemmed from the Fed's inexplicable delay in approving Custodia's application for a "Master Account," a process that typically takes 5-7 days but had been pending for over two years. This extended delay, eventually turning into a denial on January 27, 2023, raised concerns about potential biases favoring incumbent banks over disruptive newcomers like Custodia. The outcome of this lawsuit could have profound implications for the future of banking regulations and reshape the entire industry.

Custodia's disruptive approach aims to revolutionize the banking model by positioning itself as the least risky bank in the U.S., which would make it highly attractive to investors. It does this through its charter as a SPDI bank, or special purpose depository institution. These SPDI banks are fully-reserved banks that receive deposits and conduct other activity incidental to the business of banking, including custody, asset servicing, fiduciary asset management and related activities, according to the official website. In other words, their business model is to make money from banking services and take far less risk than any other bank in the world. The key aspect of Custodia's strategy involves completely eliminating the controversial practice of fractional reserve lending, a move that no other bank in the United States has undertaken. If Americans had any idea what kind of risk they take by depositing money into a fractional reserve bank, they would likely revolt.

SPDI banks commitment to eliminating fractional reserve lending would likely strike a chord with institutions seeking to mitigate risks and hedge their investments. Additionally, a bank like Custodia could leverage Wyoming's pioneering regulatory framework for digital assets, providing customers with a system that ensures safety and security without resorting to rehypothecation or over-leveraging. This distinctive offering sets banks like Custodia apart from traditional banks and positions it as a trusted partner for institutional investors.

The lawsuit filed by Custodia against the Federal Reserve marks a historic milestone. As the case proceeds to the discovery phase, previously undisclosed internal emails and documents within the Fed are expected to come to light. This transparency could unveil any potential advantages afforded to incumbent banks and shed light on the fairness of...

Northern Lights Will Be Visible From Multiple U.S. States This Week

Norhern Lights over Iceland

Photo: surangastock/Depositphotos

The Northern Lights are one of the most fascinating sky phenomena out there. Although they are more common in places closer to the North Pole, strong geomagnetic storms can make them more visible at lower latitudes than usual. One such storm is taking place later this week, and with it, the skies of some states may light up at night this Wednesday and Thursday.

A forecast made by the University of Alaska Fairbanks a few days ago stated that the aurora may be visible from many U.S. cities in the Lower 48 states. However, this report has since been updated, and it turns out that many urban areas in the mid-continental U.S. have been removed from the list. Still, there is some hope for those in northern states, as well as Canada.

According to the latest report, the Northern Lights may be visible in Alaska and a handful Canadian provinces and territories, such as Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories. As for places in the continental U.S., cities closer to the northern border may have the best shot, such as Minneapolis, MN; Great Falls, MT; Bismarck, ND; Madison, WI; Lansing, MI; and Portland, ME.

The prime time for viewing the Northern Lights is within an hour or two of midnight (between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time), according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Finding a dark place, away from the city lights and any light pollution is also key to enjoying the aurora at its best. Don't forget to check the weather forecast, too, as an overcast sky may block your view.

Why were test soundings of the Antarctic ocean during Roald Amundon's exploration to the south pole the same as recent Antarctic ocean tests and sounding?

Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian explorer, led the first successful expedition to reach the South Pole in 1911. During his exploration, Amundsen did not specifically focus on conducting oceanographic tests or soundings in the Antarctic Ocean (also known as the Southern Ocean). His primary objective was to reach the geographic South Pole overland.

It's important to note that scientific exploration and understanding of the Antarctic Ocean have significantly advanced since Amundsen's time. Modern research vessels and technology allow for more comprehensive and accurate measurements and observations.

The similarity between the ocean tests and soundings conducted during Amundsen's time and recent ones is purely coincidental. The data collected by Amundsen would have been limited in scope and may not have been as extensive or detailed as contemporary measurements. Furthermore, the techniques and equipment used in oceanographic research have improved significantly over the years, providing researchers with more accurate and precise data.

In summary, while both historical and recent tests and soundings contribute to our understanding of the Antarctic Ocean, the methods, equipment, and comprehensiveness of the data collected differ significantly, making it unlikely for them to yield identical results.

What if there is a political agenda to the Climate change narrative such as Agenda 21

Agenda 21 is a non-binding action plan adopted by the United Nations (UN) at the Earth Summit in 1992. It outlines a comprehensive blueprint for sustainable development in the 21st century, covering various aspects of environmental conservation, social equity, and economic development. It does mention climate change as a significant issue that requires global attention and action.

While some individuals and groups may perceive a political agenda behind the climate change narrative, it is important to distinguish between the scientific consensus on climate change and any potential political motivations. The overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree that human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels, are the primary drivers of global warming and climate change.

The scientific consensus on climate change is based on extensive research, data analysis, and peer-reviewed studies conducted by experts from around the world. It is not influenced by a single political agenda but rather represents the collective understanding of the scientific community.

A New Film Captures the Majesty of Blue Whales "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Decades ago, blue whales were on the brink of extinction. The largest animals to have ever lived on Earth (including dinosaurs), the species has been a huge target for whalers hunting their valuable blubber, especially during the early 1900s following the invention of mechanized harpoons and fast-traveling factory ships. In the 193031 season alone, 30,000 blue whales perished, according to the International Whaling Commission (IWC).

In response to this mass slaughter, the IWC banned the hunting of blue whales in 1966. Under increased protection, the species that nearly disappeared has been steadily recovering over the past few decades. Blue Whales: Return of the Giants (2023) is a new do...

Reclaiming the Power of an Aunties Stare "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

LOS ANGELES In 2016, two Muslim women were removed from an airplane, ostensibly because their stares made a flight attendant uncomfortable. It was just one of many such incidents that year. As Niala Mohammad, a journalist, wrote of her own experience of being removed from a plane

Although the incident was humiliating it was also eye-opening. Until it happened to me, neither my friend nor I had realized how common this trend had become . It isnt just about what happened to me increasingly Muslims are a part of a cycle of discrimination that targets them due to their appearance.

These incidents are the jumping-off point for Los Angeles artist Tanzila Ahmed, who began painting a series of works titled Aunties with Deadly Stare in the midst of COVID lockdowns. The one-week show, on view at LA ArtCore through July 15, includes dozens of paintin...

A 16th-Century Book of Astrological Ideas Tried to Predict the Future Using Illustrated Wheel Charts "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A spread of a 16th-century astrological text with a layered series of volvelles, or wheel charts that could be laid over the top of each page.

All images via The Library of Congress

More than 2,000 years ago in Hellenistic Greece, the astrolabe was invented as a kind of analog calculator to decode a range of astronomical observations, survey an area, or reckon latitude and time. Often made from metal, the tool was modified and further developed in the Islamic world, then later in Western Europe, throughout the next several centuries. By the medieval period, it had been adopted by astrologers and some physiciansthe latter for whom religious belief and medicine were closely intertwinedto determine the course of the planets and their influences. And in the 16th century, the device found its way to scholar Leonhard Thurneisser (a.k.a. Thurneysser, circa 1530-96).

Thurneisser was fascinated by the workings of the universe, and his wide-ranging knowledge landed him a position as an intellectual and miracle doctor at a noble court in Brandenburg, Germany. Denounced as a serious scientist by some of his peers due to his interest in alchemy and astrology, he nevertheless published his findings in a phenomenal tome known as the Archidoxa in 1569, containing a collection of astrological predictions and ideas. Six years later, he released an addition to the volume called the Astrolabium, which used volvelles, or wheel charts, to provide individual horoscopes.

The Brooklyn Artist Revitalizing New York, One Flyer At a Time "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

From spray-painted graffiti and colorful murals, there is absolutely no shortage of artwork on the streets of New York. Even lampposts and street signs are decorated with an abundance of curious stickers and odd posters. With so much to look at, it can be difficult to catch the attention of daily commuters and head-bent errand runners.

For Max Kolomatsky, a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and graphic designer, the overwhelming amount of street art was a perfect opportunity to help amplify some voices in need of a boost. After wandering around his neighborhood, he took to reading the various flyers and posters tacked onto posts or storefront windows and realized that some of them could probably get more attention, with just a few design tweaks.

Now known on Tiktok as @cool_lookin_bug, the artist has amassed over 3 million views for redesigning street posters he sees every day in a form of artistic community service. Whether its an ad for a local appliance store, a flyer promoting a local ...

A DebunkingDeath.blogspot.com Sermon: We don't necessarily need faith in God, as evidence for a spiritual realm can be found all around us... "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Hello, and thank you for I would like to discuss the notion that we don't necessarily need faith in God, as evidence for a spiritual realm can be found all around us. Let's into some points that support this perspective.

The Fine Tuning of Evolution, and Nature:
The intricacies and precision of the universe, including the laws of physics and the delicate balance required for life to exist, suggest the presence of a designer. Science has also revealed the remarkable process of evolution, which presents life over billions of years. Nature, with its awe-inspiring complexity and the intricate interplay of its ecosystems, provides evidence of a higher power.

Confirmed Miracles:
Throughout history, numerous accounts of miracles have been reported. These miracles often transcend the natural order of things, offering signs of divine. While not all miracles can be unequivocally proven, many are supported by testimonies other forms of empirical evidence.

Apparitions of Loved Ones:
Many individuals have seen ghostly apparitions or experienced a deep sense of connection with departed loved ones in some other way. These experiences are deeply personal and subjective, they offer individuals solace that there is more to existence than what meets the eye. These encounters provide glimpses into the spiritual realm and the life beyond the physical plane.

Prayers Answered:
Countless people throughout history have attested to having their prayers answered in many...

Welded-Wire Garden Fence "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

DIY Welded-Wire Garden Fence

By Jamison Rantz

Years ago I built a modern chicken coop and it has been great. So much so, that we loaded it on a trailer and moved it out to our new house that we built. After weeks of allowing the chickens to roam about and crap all over we decided we had enough of that and fenced in a run for them with some cheap landscape fence and T-posts.

Fast forward a few years and that cheap fence now looks like crap. Not to mention that we never had anyway of getting into the run besides hopping the fence. That being said, it was finally tome to give our trashy little fence a makeover. We decided to build a welded wire garden fence that would keep the chickens in, our dog out, and look good around the house. The posts are 4x4s and with the Simpson Strong-Tie EZ Spikes, the post setting went fast, making the entire project quick and easy. Read on to see exact how we did it.

The New Phoenix Lightning Wallet Beta Reimagines The Self-Custodial Experience "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Phoenix, a Lightning wallet developed by Acinq, has undergone significant improvements with the introduction of splicing technology, resulting in a more efficient and user-friendly experience. Unlike previous versions, which created multiple channels and incurred unpredictable fees, the new Phoenix manages a single dynamic channel, eliminating the need for scattered liquidity and splitting issues.

With splicing, users can now resize channels, adding or removing funds without adding future risk. The previous 1% fee on inbound liquidity has been replaced by the mining fee for the underlying on-chain transaction. The announcement emphasized the significance of splicing, stating, "We believe that the efficiency gains brought by splicing are so phenomenal that all wallets will eventually implement it."

regarding unexpected channel creation fees. Users are now notified in advance when an incoming Lightning payment will incur a channel management fee, allowing for fine control over fee management. Additionally, the fee for sending Lightning payments is now fixed at 0.4%, ensuring transparency and aligning incentives between users and the wallet provider, to find the best (reliable, affordable) route within the fee budget.

One notable feature of the new Phoenix is trustless swaps. Instead of relying on swap services, which often lack flexibility, Phoenix enables users to make on-chain transactions directly from their channel. Users have the freedom to set their own feerate and even adjust the fee later for faster confirmation.

While splicing offers remarkable benefits, it should be noted that external swap services still hold advantages in certain transactions. These services cut the link between off-chain and on-chain, maintaining the channel size and adding inbound liquidity.

The new Phoenix wallet marks a significant milestone in the development of self-custodial wallets. Its enhanced features, such as splicing, improved predictability and trustless swaps, showcase the continuous innovation in the Lightning Network ecosystem. The announcement noted that users can look forward to advancements like blinded paths for better privacy, BOLT 12/Offers for static Lightning invoices and Taproot for cheaper channel management and enhanced on-chain privacy.

Android users, with an ETA for iOS release expected in the coming weeks. Interested users can apply for the beta by emailing phoenix@acinq.co.

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

Watch 100 People Scream as Loud as They Can in This Funny and Cathartic Video

Man screaming for

What makes you scream? It can be fear, it can be excitement. Others can scream from a mere need of catharsis. Ultimately, it's a universal activity charged with emotion. As part of their Keep it 100 series, Cut recently asked 100 people to scream at the top of their lungs on camera. The result is a funny and insightful video that reveals a lot about the human condition.

The subjects react to the request of screaming in a wide variety of ways. A couple of people stretch. One man has a very physical response for just a tiny scream to come out of his mouth. A few people cut off their scream quickly, and burst into laughter from nervousness. One guy jumps and does a split in the air, followed by another who screams at the wall behind him. Coincidentally, a few women reveal that they are recovering from an illness, so the scream is not coming out despite their best efforts.

After screaming, some exclaim, That felt good! Others describe it as relieving and like having a weigh taken off their chest. Many of the women let out screeches that could land them the role of a final girl in a horror movie. After letting out a roar, a woman says, I do that in the car sometimes, a sentiment shared by many others in the video. When asked what they were thinking about, a lot bring up the stress of work and family problems.

Though there are many that participate in eccentric fashion, some people are more coy and quiet, and feel embarrassed at being pushed into letting out something louder than an aahhh! A few feel uncomfortable screaming around people because they don't want to annoy others, despite clearly being asked to do it. One woman simply doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of screaming. I'd rather cry, she declares.

As viewers, one unexpectedly feels the relaxing eleme...

Unchained Announces New Signature Private Client Service "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Unchained, a Bitcoin custodial services company, has announced the launch of its private client service with collaborative custody. According to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine, the new platform called Unchained Signature is a membership-based service that helps high-net-worth individuals, institutions and corporations invest in and manage their bitcoin.

The company compares the experience to that of premium banking services, but with the added twist of multi-signature custodial models that Unchained is known for. The fact that clients hold their own bitcoin keys, even when they get a loan with their bitcoin used as collateral, is an assurance that Unchained is not able to singularly move or rehypothecate client funds, as many now-defunct crypto firms did prior to their collapse, the press release stated.

Dedicated account management features described include private trade execution, multi-million dollar loans and retirement and estate planning plus technical support, even to the extent that advisors will travel in-person for assistance during emergencies. In addition, Signature clients will receive early access to Unchaineds latest products as well as exclusive access to networking events.

As the best performing asset of the last decade, bitcoin continues to draw in new high-net-worth individuals and institutions, many of whom have previously shied away from crypto due to technical barriers and third-party risks, said Joe Kelly, co-founder and CEO of Unchained, as he described the companys opportunity. Unchained Signature exists to help these investors buy, secure, and grow their bitcoin with as much technical and logistical assistance as they need all without compromising security.

THEM & Ms: Sexualized Media and Emphasized Femininity "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Over the course of the past year, M&Ms have been plastered all over the news, social media, and even Super Bowl commercials. In January 2022, Mars Wrigley gave the brown M&M shorter heels and replaced the green M&Ms boots with sneakers in a push toward more inclusive marketing.

What resulted was outrage. Tucker Carlson became the face of the backlash, stating, M&Ms will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous. Carlson was not the only one speaking out. In a Rolling Stone article titled, Let the Green M&M Be a Nasty Little Slut, senior writer EJ Dickson argues, The green M&M has spent decades building her brand as a horny, sexy bitch, and for what? For her creators to give her Larry David footwear in the name of feminism?

By September, the purple M&M had made her debut. Carlson soon reignited the war, leading to Mars temporary suspension of their spokescandies. On FOX News, he remarked, The green M&M got her boots back, but apparently is now a lesbian maybe? And now theres a plus-sized, obese purple M&M. While all of these comments are nonsensical, they point to the pressure placed on women to conform to gender norms and accommodate mens sexual desires.

Sexualization of Women in the Media

M&Ms were not the first nor the only gendered commercial food product. In the 1940s, the Chiquita Banana, the worlds first branded fruit, made her debut. The original Miss Chiquita Banana was racialized and sexualized in order to appeal to the American market. Her femininity, specifically, was oversexualized through her flirtatious winking and eye-rolling as well as her frilly dresses and lipstick.
