Learn About J.C. Leyendecker, the Illustrator Who Defined Mens Style in the Early 20th Century

ARROW COLLARS - 1909

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, illustrators were celebrities. They were household names. It might sound strange today, but consider an illustrator's role in society; this was before photographs were routinely used in magazines and newspapers, so illustrators were the ones who helped define the visual culture at that time. Of the illustrators with immense cultural influence, J.C. Leyendecker was at the top.

Leyendecker had a distinctive style with exquisite attention to detail and a knack for capturing the essence of his subjects. His work for advertising and the covers of Colliers Weekly and The Saturday Evening Post made him a household name. Leyendeckers compelling characters, who were sophisticated and good-looking, also made him synonymous with style and elegance.

Read on to learn more about Leyendecker and how his work continues to influence us today.

Scientists Are Confused By The Bigger-Than-Everest Mountains Inside The Earth "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

UndergroundMountains Scientists Are Confused By The Bigger Than Everest Mountains Inside The Earth

If you think Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth, youre not alone but also, youre not entirely right, because there are peaks inside the planet that are bafflingly large.

Researchers call these huge buried ranges ultra-low velocity zones (ULVZ). Theyre located in the core-mantle boundary inside the planet, which sits around 1800 miles deep.

The mountains there can be 4.5 times the height of Everest. Thats more than 24 miles high, says University of Alabama geologist Samantha Hansen.

We found evidence for ULVZs kind of everywhere. Its its big enough, we can see it.

Scientists are able to see these peaks using seismic data from earthquakes and atomic explosions.

12,000-Year-Old Bird Bone Flutes Mimic Ancient Bird Song "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

These Ancient Bird Bone Flutes Mimic Ancient Bird Song

Researchers in Israel found a deposit of ancient bird bones clearly collected by people from 12,000 years ago. The 1,100 bones were discovered in the Hula Valley in Israel, forming a fascinating collection. Yet within these relics lay several carefully carved little surprises. Seven of these bird bones were crafted into flutes by the Natufians, a people who lived in the Levant region from 13,000 and 9,700 BCE. As described in Scientific Reports, researchers were able to identify and even replicate the bone flutes, which may have once been used to lure the birds of prey by mimicking their sounds.

The bone-crafted flutes bear the telltale mouth and finger holes of wind instruments like flutes. Interestingly, the ancient sculptors chose small bones from Eurasian teal and Eurasian coot birds. This size allowed the flutes to replicate the tones of the kestrel and the sparrowhawk, birds of prey that once lived in the region. Technically and expertly made, it is believed that the flutes were painted and worn around the neck. Additionally, they may have been hunting aidsluring the birds which the Natufians were known to eat. However, it is also possible that the flutes were purely ceremonial, but wear and tear on the artifacts indicates that they were once played. Regardless, the 12,000-year-old flutes are some of the oldest bird-mimicking instruments ever discovered.

The flutes are a particularly pivotal find for the Near East and an especially exciting opportunity for researchers. Replicas were created to hear the flute sounds. It was very moving when I played it for the first time and heard the sound that Natufians made 12,000 years ago, lead author Laurent Davin, of the French Research Center in Jerusalem, told ...

Creative Band Plays Music Using Vintage Typewriters as Musical Instruments

A group of men type on vintage typewriters to make music

Photo: Screenshot from YouTube

Mechanical typewriters may be a thing of the past, but the art world has found varied alternative uses for the antiquated devices. We've seen an artist recreate famous paintings by using only the characters found on a keyboard. We've also seen more experimental approaches like typewriters being taken apart and reassembled into movable bird sculptures. Now, this vintage tool is being utilized beyond visual arts. A band known as Boston Typewriter Orchestra creates songs using these antique machines as musical instruments.

The band recorded the song Left Blank on video and submitted it to the NPR Tiny Desk Contest. We only do desk concerts. C'mon, this is a no-brainer, they wrote in the video description. Although they didn't win, they've surely made an impression with their experimental sound. According to their Bandcamp page, Boston Typewriter Orchestra describes itself as a collective endeavor which engages in rhythmic typewriter manipulation combined with elements of performance, comedy, and satire. The outcome is a hair-raising industrial sound that might as well soundtrack a workplace thriller like Severance.

So, how does this collective use typewriters as musical instruments? While the sounds of typing may seem monotone, the band knows how to exploit the physicality of their tools. In fact, the inner mechanisms of the machines almost double as a bass, while their strong typing becomes a percussion that takes center stage. The result is something...

Ordinals, Inscriptions And BRC-20 Cant Break Bitcoin "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Roy Sheinfeld, the co-founder and CEO of Breez, a Lightning Network mobile app.

The more wonderful something is, the more passion it will arouse. Bitcoin is among the greatest wonders of the late-modern world, so Greg Foss is understandably very passionate about it. So passionate in fact, that he dropped 11 f-bombs in 31 seconds out of concern for its future (and this despite the fact that hes Canadian!).

Why is such a stalwart Bitcoin proponent so concerned? Because two guys in cheap wizard costumes did a cringey Fortnite dance? Surely the stakes must be higher.

According to some, there is a battle underway for the future and soul of Bitcoin. According to others, weve just gained a fun, nerdy and innocuous way to play with Bitcoin that makes it even funner and nerdier, though no less revolutionary.

Ordinals, inscriptions and the BRC-20 protocol are the bone(s) of contention. Ordinals allow individual sats to be identified; inscriptions allow objects like text, images and data files to be written onto them; and BRC-20 allows second-order tokens to be minted directly onto them, like an Ethereum-lite. In effect, they introduce storage as a new use case for the Bitcoin blockchain in addition to its existing and principal use as a ledger for currency transactions. These features are affecting block sizes, transaction fees and validation times, so theyre not inconsequential.

The bone of contention is what they mean for Bitcoins future. Are they pathological, like a tumor? Do they offer a competitive advantage, like chlorophyll and claws? Or are they just harmless and benign, like male nipples or that little dangly thing at the top of your throat?

What does the future hold? Source: imgflip.

AITACleanPlate Person Asks if Theyre a Jerk for Not Giving Their Sister a Clean Plate at Dinner

Oh, you already ate off of it once, so whats the big deal?

Thats what I would have said if I was in this persons positionbut as we all know, everyone is different about this kind of stuff.

So did this person act like an a**hole to their sister?

Take a look at their story and see what you think.

AITA for not giving my sister a clean plate?

At dinner last night my sister wanted a second helping, so I took her plate and got her one.

She was upset when she saw the plate and asked why I brought her a dirty plate. I said it was her plate that she was just eating off of. She said that was nasty and I should have gotten her a clean one.

I think that since she was the one just eating off of it, it cant be that dirty. My father said that was indeed ill-mannered, although said she was worse for calling me on it in front of everyone.

I think its silly to get a new plate. The only germs on it were her own.

Take a look at what Reddit users had to say about this.

This reader said theyre NTA and that this is ridiculous.

Solana (SOL) Tallies 10% Gains On Weekly Chart Will It Cross $25? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Solana (SOL) has witnessed a remarkable recovery in the past week, showcasing a string of steady gains. Presently, SOL has increased by 10% and is actively traded at $21.80, reflecting a slight uptick in the cryptos price.

While its important to note that SOL remains significantly distant from its all-time high of $260, the recent upward motion has lifted its value beyond the $20 mark, indicating promising signs of an extended bullish sentiment

Whats Behind SOL Rise?

There are several factors right now that could have influenced the rise in SOLs price. These include macroeconomic factors such as inflation and crypto regulation in different areas. In addition, Solana has experienced some success in adoption with some ecosystems adopting the token and launching cross-chain bridges.

Related Reading: XRP Next Step: Heres Why An Upward Move Could Be Likely

However, the most likely factor is the increase in DEX volume recorded this week. Blockchain analysis platform DefiLlama revealed in a report earlier in the week that Solana had experienced a spike in DEX volume. According to the report, SOLs DEX volume surged by over 80% and is ranked fifth within the crypto market. This development is likely to have boosted its price action in the past week.

Nonetheless, the Total Value Locked (TVL) has not reacted to this uptrend and has been stagnant since its decline last November following the FTX collapse. Currently, the TVL sits at around $275 million with no noticeable increase in value despite the gains of SOL in recent days.

Solana (SOL) Price Outlook And Prediction

SOL is currently trending upward and has continued its positive price action towards the weekend. However, the intermittent red candles on its weekly chart show that the bears are active this week.

Looking at the technical indicators, its relative strength index is at 50 in the neutral zone between the oversold region of 35 and the overbought region of 75. The Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) is currently in the buy zone which is a bullish signal. In addition, the histogram bars are green and signal that a bullish trend is ahead and if the bulls persist, SOL is likely to have a sustained uptrend in the coming days.

Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) Spikes 43% In A Week Heres Why "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

BONE, the governance token of Shiba Inu, has experienced a significant uptick in the past week with its price surging by double digits during this period. At the time of writing, BONE has seen an increase of 0.5% in the past 24 hours reaching $1.20. Additionally, the token has witnessed a weekly rise of more than 40% making it the best performer among the top 100 tokens.

BONE upp by 43% in the past week: Source @coingecko

This spike holds major significance as BONE has managed to be bullish despite the recent market sell-off, which has left the crypto market in a bearish state. The recent growth of BONE could be attributed to the statement of Shitoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu.

Kusama Provides Tentative Date For Shibarium Launch

Kusama had earlier in the week disclosed a potential date for the launch of Shibarium, the highly anticipated Layer-2 blockchain that would power the Shiba Inu ecosystem. According to a blog post on July 6, Kusama stated that the mainnet launch of Shibarium could be discussed and unveiled at the Blockchain Futurists Conference scheduled to take place in Toronto in August.

Related Reading:  Stellar (XLM) Sheds 13% As Bearish Sentiment Takes Over

Kusama further defined the role of the multiple token systems that would be supported by Shibarium. According to him, the Shiba Inu ecosystem would be divided into four sections with each section utilizing a unique token. SHIB would be used to govern the community, while BONE governs and support community technology (such as Shibarium gas fees), LEASH would cater to community security and provides exclusivity, and TREAT moderates and enhances community projects.

Following this disclosure, the price of BONE experienced a major uptrend due to the positive sentiments from the community. BONEs unique role in relation to Shibarium gas fees makes it a vital token within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Youd probably have to be pretty p**sed off, right?

And the woman who wrote this story now wants to know if she went too far when she did this to her husband.

Lets see what she had to say.

AITA for throwing my husbands dinner in the garbage?

We have a rather small kitchen. Theres basically only two places to stand/work while cooking.

In front of the counter or in front of the stove. I have frequently asked my husband to please stay out of the kitchen if I am in there cooking because theres just no room for two people and he will be in the way etc. He constantly ignores this request though. Last night, he came into the kitchen at kind of a critical point while I had stuff in the frying pan and was preparing stuff at the counter.

He stood in front of the stove and I was just waiting for him to move so that I could get to it. Then he said this looks like its burning, are you even gonna do anything? In exasperation, I yelled fn move!! but instead he stood there and started lecturing me to not yell at him, its his kitchen too and he has every right to be in there also etc.

By the time he finished, the stuff in the pan was well and truly burnt. so I scraped it into the trash and told him to go make his own fn dinner because it was his kitche...

He Told Everyone Why His Brother-In-Law Wasnt at His Daughters Birthday Party. Is He a Jerk? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

AITABirthdayParty He Told Everyone Why His Brother In Law Wasnt at His Daughters Birthday Party. Is He a Jerk?

Hey, the truth hurts sometimes

And it can really hurt when its about YOU and something that YOU did wrong.

Check out this guys post that he shared on Reddits Am I the A**hole? page and see if you think he was wrong for putting his brother-in-law on blast.

Start now!

AITA for telling everyone why my BIL wasnt at his daughters birthday party?

I (37M) have recently separated from my wife (37F) for a multitude of reasons but the one at the top of the list is her prioritisation of her best friend/SIL (she married the brother) in all aspects of her life. Ive drawn a hard line on having no communication, except for childcare arrangements, and so far that has been working.

She contacted me about my nieces upcoming birthday party (SILs daughter), and if I would be OK bringing our daughter (it was my week with her). The kids love playing with each other, and I didnt think it was fair for them to miss out just because I might feel awkward about it.

We went along, and everything was fine. I avoided SIL and my ex as much as possible, and mingled and socialised with the other parents. I eventually got talking to one mum, who made a comment that blew my mind. When I got to the party, I noticed that BIL wasnt there ( nieces dad). I had overheads SIL tell people he was working (which sucks, but fair enough).

You ruin my cheesecake, you will pay!

Yikes!

This woman seems pretty fired up!

But did she go too far in her response?

Check out what she had to say and YOU be the judge.

AITA for making a whole scene in the family table that my mom ruined my cheesecake?

So Im(19f) a pastry chef, I love my sweets to be on point as you can see them on pictures, nothing less or nothing more.My mom(60F) other hand keeps destroying my sweets by adding so much of everything.

One time I made a strawberry cake for my grandmas birthday and she came to it to add a whole tones of whipping cream. At the end the cake was a whole disaster,it was falling apart from too much cream and I yelled her in top of my lungs that she keeps destroying everything I make ,she put on the sad face saying she wont bother with me and my sweets anymore.

So Last weekend we were visiting my grandma(her sister too) and I made a fruit tart and a cheesecake.I put them on the fridge and warned my mom TO NOT TOUCH IT!!. When we arrived,we open the cheesecake and apparently she have put chocolate syrup all over it and the box/cheesecake itself was an ugly mess.At that point I had a breakdown and started yelling her and crying saying WHY YOU KEEP DESTROYING MY WORK,IM SO FED UP WITH YOU,she kept pushing it off saying its not beauti...

Did we Produce a Whole Generation of Brain Damaged Adults? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for CT brain scans

More and more the CT scans of the brains of young adults are showing irregularities. These deficient characteristic were not inflicted knowing but they were a product of the environment. Researchers are just now realizing that the time it takes for an adult brain to attain full development is long that had been expected. In women who tend to physically mature faster than boys due to hormonal development the age of a full developed brain is about 21 years of old. Shockingly, for young men is the age of 25. This may not seem that significant, but when one considers the early age of exposure in many kids to alcohol, drugs, and smoking these factors can definitely affect whether or not thinking and reasoning processes are affected.

Image result for video games on the child's mind

Requiem for abnormality

To think of the effects of drugs and smoking on the under developed brain is bad enough, but medical specialists have begun evaluating the effects of video games both physiologically and psychologically on the development of a growing childs brain. Studies indicate that the artificial inducement of adrenaline and brain opiates at concentrated levels due to the unusual stimulus of video games that are violent and dramatic will have lasting effects on the cognitive capabilities as well as normal emotional responses of young adults.

There have actually been advocates for using video games as a way of evaluating the capabilities of the modern combat pilot with so much electronic instrumentality to monitor it takes a certain skill set that many normal applicants might not have, but what are the downside to such behavior? Would there not be deficits in normal emotional states, lack of ability to attain intimacy on a non-sexual level, lack of empathy, the unrealistic attitude toward death and destruction though desensitization through simulated battle and violence? This they found to be true. It was found that during the Vietnam War the loss of pilots due to SAMs (Surface to Air Missiles) was due to a psychological condition known as Saturation  where the pilot was inundated with so many instrument alarms and readings that he could not effectively focus on life saving combat skills. He was shot down due to to...

The Power of Being a Heretic: The Forgotten Visionary Jane Ellen Harrison on Critical Thinking, Emotional Imagination, and How to Rehumanize the World "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

If we are to be true and worthy heretics, we need not only new heads, but new hearts, and, most of all, that new emotional imagination begotten of enlarged sympathies and a more sensitive habit of feeling.

The Power of Being a Heretic: The Forgotten Visionary Jane Ellen Harrison on Critical Thinking, Emotional Imagination, and How to Rehumanize the World

When the Inquisition persecuted Galileo for advancing the rude truth that Earth is not the center of the universe, the charge against him was heresy the same charge on which Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for her crusade for political reform. We have had many words for heretics over the epochs rebels, radicals, freethinkers but they have always been the ones to dislodge humanity from the stagnation of the status quo, to illuminate our blind spots, dismantle our unexamined biases, and jolt us out of our herd mentality. Without those devoted to seeing reality more clearly and possibility more wildly, we would still live in a world haunted by superstition and governed by dogma.

The power and dignity of this most courageous human mindset is what the pioneering classicist Jane Ellen Harrison (September 9, 1850April 15, 1928), who brought the culture of Ancient Greece to the modern world, explores in her magnificent essay Heresy and Humanity, found in Alpha and Omega (public library) the out-of-print essay collection that gave us Harrison on the art of growing older, published just as humanity was being dehumanized by its first World War.

Landscaping to Enhance Passive Solar Design "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

The role of landscaping in passive solar building design can play a crucial part in maximizing shade and solar gain. By carefully planning and positioning landscape elements, homeowners can create outdoor spaces that work in harmony with the suns natural patterns, resulting in energy-efficient buildings that are comfortable year-round.

One of the primary goals of passive solar design is to take advantage of the suns energy to heat and cool a building naturally. This is achieved by orienting the building to maximize solar gain in the winter and minimize it in the summer. Landscaping can play a significant role in this process by providing shade and directing airflow around the building.

Deciduous trees, which lose their leaves in the winter, can be strategically placed to block the suns rays during the hot summer months while allowing sunlight to penetrate and warm the building in the winter. Evergreen trees, on the other hand, can be used to create windbreaks that protect the building from cold winter winds.

In addition to trees, tall grasses and shrubs can be planted near windows to provide shade and reduce glare. Vines and climbing plants can be used to create living walls that insulate the building and help regulate temperature. Pergolas and trellises can be incorporated into the landscape to provide shade and create outdoor living spaces that are comfortable even during the hottest months of the year.

Another critical aspect of passive solar landscaping is the use of reflective surfaces. Light-colored materials, such as gravel or light-colored paving stones, can be used to reflect sunlight onto the building, increasing solar gain in the winter. Conversely, dark-colored materials can be used to absorb heat and reduce solar gain in the summer.

Water features can also play a role in passive solar landscaping. Ponds, pools, and fountains can help cool the surrounding air through evaporation, creating a more comfortable microclimate around the building. They can also be used to store heat during the day and release it at night, helping to maintain a stable temperature inside the building.

The benefits of passive solar landscaping extend beyond energy efficiency and comfort. A well-designed landscape can also increase property values, improve air quality, and support local biodiversity. Furthermore, incorporating green spaces and natural elements into the built environment can have a positive impact on mental health and well-being.

As climate change continues to impact our world, the importance of sustainable design practices, such as pas...

Think! Are you a Useful Idiot? America is full of Them "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for yuri bezmenov

Yuri Bezmenov, a defected KGB agent who arrived in Canada gave several lectures throughout the US during the Reagan Administration warning unwary Americans that the US was sliding into the socialist trap and it had progressed even further than his colleagues could have wished for. Yuri, was disturbingly correct when he said that people were so thoroughly indoctrinated that they would not believe that Communism or an overthrow of our society would either not happen of not be so bad. Even as they were being shipped to a concentration camp would they fail to realize the gravity of the situation! Today, I fear, we are in much worse shape. Just as the KGB worked on a long range outcome that would take decades to see the fruition of, we have arrived at that heart breaking summit of disinformation and lawlessness.

Clarification

Useful idiot: Definition-One who refuses to acknowledge the downfall of his or her country after years of false narratives known as asymmetric warfare of propaganda. 2) One who is too oblivious to see the danger of adverse ideology and its corrosive effects on their society? 3) The low information voter who casts a vote without even knowing how destructive his or her party really are or that they dont even care 4) Those who cannot distinguish between being ruled or governed, they live in their little bubble of reality denial.

The symptoms

How can you tell if you are a Useful Idiot or not? Do you bother to seek meaningful information on why you are being overtaxed, why you have no privacy, why your political representatives dont feel a need to honor the oath they took to defend and uphold the US Constitution? Why the cost of living is unnecessarily high thanks to legislation you never voted for, yet it was imposed anyway? Do you go about life working to make a living and the only other concerns you have are your video games, your reality TV shows, or the ballgames youve waited all week to see? Do you willingly accept whatever the mainstream media news outlets tell you as fact without batting an eye or asking an intelligent question?

Controversy Erupts as DoD Praises Transgender Army Major | A Threat to Military Readiness? "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Get $200 Off A 3-Month Emergency Supply ^^^

The Department of Defenses recent praise of a transgender Army Major has sparked controversy. Critics argue that celebrating a lifestyle choice undermines the merit-based promotion system of our military. They believe the focus should be on readiness and ensuring our forces are equipped for any challenge. Data from the RAND corporation suggests that the militarys transgender policy hampers effectiveness. Concerns are raised about political correctness taking precedence over common sense and national security. The military should prioritize the safety and security of the nation above all else. Praising an individual based on gender identity rather than abilities undermines the meritocracy that should prevail in our armed forces. It is unfortunate that the Department of Defense has chosen to endorse a lifestyle that is seen by many as divisive and detrimental to morale and performance.

I'm finally taking a vacation, if only for one day. With any luck, I will only be gone for 24 hours, and sleep in my own bed before returning to work the next day! I chose Midland because #1-the path of the eclipse passes between Midland and Odessa, which is the exact location of the airport,...

2,700-Year-Old Petroglyphs Are Discovered Under Moss in Sweden "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

2,700-Year-Old Petroglyphs Are Discovered Under Moss in Sweden

Cave art records the adventures of early humanswhether it be hunting beasts, building boats, or making handprints on the walls. It can also tell archeologists a lot about the economies and beliefs of Bronze Age communities. While this art form mainly died out after the invention of writing, a late example from 2,700 years ago has just been discovered on a farm in Sweden. Forty petroglyphs have emerged from underneath a layer of moss covering a massive boulder that was once coastal.

These glyphs were discovered and announced by the Foundation for Documentation of Bohusln's Rock Carvings, an organization whose goal is to aid the preservation and documentation of the ample glyphs in that area. The Rock Carvings in Tanum, a region of Bohusln, is even a UNESCO World Heritage site. Like the recent finds, they date to the Nordic Bronze Age (from 1700 BCE to 500 BCE) and were created by pecking and grinding the rock with tools to etch designs.

The new glyphs are located near the town of Kville, on a large granite rock that stands about 10 feet off the ground. About 2,700 years ago, higher sea levels would have lapped against the boulder, meaning the carvings were done by boat. In fact, the drawings feature 13 depictions of ships, highlighting their importance to the coastal region. Also etched into the boulder are nine horses, four wagons, and seven people. All of these carvings were filled with white chalk to ensure that they showed up in photographs.

Steve Kallman: The Secret Code of the Step Pyramid "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

We know little about the famous great sage, Imhotep, who was the Vizier, or Prime Minister, of Egypt under the Pharaoh Netjerikhet Djoser of Egypt's Third Dynasty. As well as being the Royal Architect and Royal Physician among his many titles, the man himself is somewhat of an enigma. This book is, perhaps, the most complete account of Imhotep's architectural and medical careers as revealed in the grandeur and graceful beauty of Egypt's oldest pyramid, and challenges the reader to look beyond the obvious and see the hidden Sacred Wisdom that Imhotep embedded within its architecture. In this book is the proof of Imhotep's status of Royal Physician, even though none had existed before.

His skill as an architect is clearly visible in his innovative, extensive use of stone in the Step Pyramid and its surrounding buildings. However, this book goes beyond admiring the results of Imhotep's endeavors. Rather, it goes into detail concerning the methods and hidden history of its design and construction. Gleaned from books and reports from the initial excavations and reconstruction beginning in the late 1920s to more recent discoveries, the result is the most detailed study of the Step Pyramid to date. No other book contains as much information about the Step Pyramid. More than that, it is one man's journey from a serendipitous find to an ever-expanding awareness of the Step Pyramid's many secrets hidden in plain sight in the ensuing decades following his discovery.

Through extensive research, the author has unraveled a mystery (or mysteries) confirming Imhotep's uncanny genius in creating a masterpiece within this most unique pyramid of Egypt. Numerous photographs and images depict the Step Pyramid almost in its entirety assist in illustrating and understanding the author's theory, as he provides in-depth, step-by-step supporting material to validate his claims. The ancient Egyptian connection between the physical and spiritual worlds comes into play as the author delves into anatomy, as well as the concept of duality the Magic Number 2 (among other important numbers), cubits, the language of Sacred Geometry and Ratios, and their influence on Imhotep's blueprints for the Step Pyramid. This tale will not only captivate Egyptology enthusiasts but also those with little or no interest in the relevance of this historical account as the author tries to make sense of this socket, its location and use as it relates to the structure and doorways of the Step Pyramid. The author's talent for storytelling will quickly engage readers with the accounts of how Egyptians lived, worshiped, and celebrated within the Step Pyramid's ?eb-Sed Court that eventually became a medical center. The theoretical explanations of various rooms, alcoves, and courtyards may challenge current thought, but in the end, will undoubtedly enlighten and enthrall the reader.

Lighting Fixture Uses 100% Recycled Materials To Combine Sleek With Sustainability "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Lighting Fixture Uses 100% Recycled Materials To Combine Sleek With Sustainability

AIR, Recycled Lighting by Contardi

When we think about sustainability and our homes, were often only thinking about the systems that power them. Solar panels on the roof are one example, but it's important to take a holistic approach. How can the things we use to decorate our home be eco-friendly, too? Contardi is an Italian lighting company that asked the question, What is green lighting? Hue and energy consumption aside, the company wanted to create a light that was conscious of its raw material use. That's how AIR, designed by Adam Tihany, was born.

The suspension light is sleek and functional, comprising 100% recyclable materials. Featuring a dual lampshade design, its laser-engraved cuts add both a decorative element and a way to filter the air and infuse the space with a warm glow. AIR as a design inspiration is as broad as it is elusive, Tihany explains. Invisible, equally light and heavy, and absolutely essential for life on our planet.  The result is an effortless design that appears to levitate from the ceiling.

The AIR light offers an alternative way for us to view ecological lighting. It doesnt relate to a specific function or solution, but its a set of characteristics that allow the product to reduce its negative impact on the planet. For AIR, this means using Green Cast, a 100% recycled and recyclable material thats made from end-of-life products and industrial processing waste. It can be indefinitely repurposed.

AIR is available in two versions: large and small. Scroll down to see it in a home and learn more on the Contradi website.

UFC Fighter Anthony Smith Reveals He Developed Blood Clot Following mRNA COVID Vaccine, Claims His Mother Died After Pfizer Booster Shot "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

UFC Light Heavyweight fighter Anthony Lionheart Smith has publicly announced his stance against COVID-19 vaccinations. Smiths declaration comes on the heels of a personal tragedy; his mother fell into a coma two weeks after receiving the Pfizer booster shot and sadly never recovered. Moreover, Smith claims he developed a blood clot shortly after his COVID-19 vaccination. Smith shared his experiences and concerns on Thursday during a conversation with Former UFC middleweight Champion Michael Bisping on Believe You Me. They were joined by Themba Gorimbo, who discussed his recent win and life growing up in Africa.
During their conversation, Bisping and Smith delved into the potential health risks associated with COVID-19 vaccines. Hes only a young man. Why do you think he had a heart attack? asked Bisping. I dont know. I mean, anytime theres a young person that has any kind of heart problems or strokes or things like that, I kind of point in one direction, said Smith, adding, It just go straight to vaccinations every time. Smith revealed, When my mom passed, right, she got sick immediately after getting her booster. She was fairly healthy, but she got sick immediately after that. So she got her booster and was in a coma in like two weeks.
Smith further linked Pfizers recent admission of increased stroke risk in people over 60 receiving their final booster to his mothers passing. It just doesnt make any sense. Like that was really weird, right? And then recently Pfizer came out and said in people over 60 on their final booster, they had to come out and say that there was a higher risk of stroke. Well, thats essentially what ended up happening to my mom, Smith said....

Designer Creates Charming LEGO Tribute to Photographer Ansel Adams "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Designer Creates Charming LEGO Tribute to Photographer Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams LEGO Idea by Nick Micheels

As one of the most famous landscape photographers of all time, Ansel Adams has inspired generations of photography lovers. This includes Nick Micheels, who transformed his love for Adams' work into an incredible idea for a LEGO set. Micheels spent one month designing the 1,104-piece set, which he then posted to the LEGO Ideas website. Called The Landscape Photographer, Micheels' idea was selected as a Staff Pick and is nearing the 10,000 votes it needs to be considered for production.

Like many of us, Micheels enjoyed playing with LEGOs during childhood, but felt he'd grown out of the hobby. However, during the pandemic, he rediscovered his passion and started designing LEGO sets, which he posts on LEGO Ideas under the name Lobster Thermidor.

Building LEGO sets is sort of therapeutic to me, and designing them is almost meditative, he tells My Modern Met. I find designing LEGO models and photography to be similar in that regardthere is something immensely satisfying about melding pre-existing shapes into recognizable forms.

Micheels himself is a photographer and has admired Adams' work since he was a child. So, it only seemed natural to translate his admiration into a LEGO tribute to the American photographer.

From Ulcers To Depression: Why You Should Eat Bananas Every Day "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

The banana is an incredibly popular fruit enjoyed worldwide. Its versatility allows it to be consumed raw, baked, or fried, making it a practical ingredient in various delicious dishes.

But the true gem of bananas lies in their collagen content. Those little white strings, known as phloem bundles, are packed with fiber and play a vital role in distributing nutrients throughout the banana, enhancing its ripeness, flavor, and overall health benefits.

In addition to phloem bundles, bananas boast numerous other remarkable qualities. They are an excellent source of energy, rich in potassium for a healthy heart, and provide essential minerals like phosphorus and magnesium. Phosphorus aids in bone and teeth strength and assists in carbohydrate digestion, while magnesium supports cellular energy production and muscle relaxation, particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing stress.

Moreover, bananas possess the ability to combat depression due to their high levels of tryptophan, a natural antidepressant that regulates serotonin levels and uplifts mood. Studies indicate that bananas do not contribute to cholesterol or obesity, while reducing the risk of heart attacks and improving muscle mass and energy levels, particularly in children.

Another notable substance found in bananas is phytoalexin, a natural antibiotic with potential anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and cardiovascular disease prevention properties. It acts as a powerful agent in preventing ulcers.

Now that you are aware of the incredible benefits, consider keeping those white strings on your banana to fully enjoy the abundance of wonderful nutrients it offers. Embrace the whole banana and reap its numerous rewards!

Bitcoin Is More Than Money, Its A Tool For Self Transformation "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Heliand, a Bitcoiner with a background in real estate and finance.

In the realm of digital currencies, Bitcoin has emerged as a groundbreaking phenomenon, revolutionizing not only the financial landscape but also the way we perceive and interact with money.

However, beyond its potential for economic empowerment, Bitcoin holds a deeper significance that transcends material gain. It can be viewed as a catalyst for personal growth and spiritual transformation, offering individuals a unique path toward self discovery and enlightenment.

In this essay, I will explore how Bitcoin can serve as a tool for this type of self transformation and become a catalyst for a profound journey of spiritual growth.

Embracing Financial Sovereignty

Bitcoin's core principle lies in decentralization and the elimination of intermediaries, offering individuals full control over their financial assets.

By embracing Bitcoin, we embark on a journey of financial sovereignty, freeing ourselves from the restrictions imposed by traditional financial systems. This newfound autonomy allows us to transcend limiting beliefs and societal expectations regarding money, enabling us to reevaluate our relationship with wealth and abundance.

As we develop a sense of self reliance and take responsibility for our financial well-being, we open the doors to self empowerment and spiritual growth.

Furthermore, financial sovereignty through Bitcoin encourages us to question the existing economic paradigm, in which financial institutions and governments exert significant control over our monetary transactions. As we challenge this centralized authority, we develop a deeper understanding of the importance of individual freedom and the potential for positive change through decentralized systems.

This realization extends beyond financial matters, encouraging us to question other aspects of our lives that may be governed by external authorities, fostering a sense of empowerment and self determination.

Fostering Trust And Collaboration

Bitcoin's underlying technology, its blockchain, relies on a network of participants who collectively validate and verify transactions. This decentralized approach fosters trust and collaboration, as each participant contributes to the overall security and integrity of the network.

Through engagement with the Bitcoin community, we develop a sense of interconnectedness, recognizing the importance of collaboration, transparency and consensus.

This realization extends beyond the realm of finance, teaching us valuable lessons about trust, cooperation and the power of collective action in our personal lives and relationships.

The Bitcoin community, consisting of developers, miners, investors and enthusiasts, demonstrates the power of collaboration and shared goals. It encourages individuals to work together towards common ob...

45% of US drinking water contaminated with 'forever chemicals' that lead to infertility, cancer, hormone issues: report "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

In a study released by the US Geological Survey (USGS) on Wednesday, harmful per- and polyfluorene alkyl substances (PFAS) are estimated to contaminate at least 45 percent of drinking water in the United States, with most of the concentration near urban areas. According to the USGS, PFAS are synthetic chemicals used in a wide array of commonly used items such as non-stick pans, fire extinguisher foam, food packaging products that are grease resistant, and more. They take a long time to break down and are commonly referred to as "forever chemicals." The study tested 716 different locations across the country and found about 75 percent of tap water in urban areas and 25 percent of rural areas with PFAS tested in the tap water. There are over 12,000 types of PFAS, and the study only tested 32 of them as not all can be detected with current tests. Areas with higher concentrations include the Great Plains, the Great Lakes, the Eastern Seaboard, and Central and Southern California.

Stellar (XLM) Sheds 13% As Bearish Sentiment Takes Over "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In the past week, Stellar (XLM) experienced a decline in price, moving from $0.1 to $0.096. This represents a decrease of -13.42% in value. Furthermore, in the past 24 hours, XLM recorded a minor drop of -0.61%. These price movements indicate a slight bearish sentiment prevailing in the crypto market, with XLM being influenced by the broader market conditions. The recent downtrend in XLMs price suggests that bears currently have the upper hand, while the scope for bullish activity appears limited.

What Could Be Responsible For The Recent Price Dip?

The Stellar ecosystem has been rife with developments in recent months, with the biggest being the launch of the Spacewalk bridge that connects the blockchain to Polkadot. The bridge was meant to enable smooth transfer of the USDC stablecoin between the two blockchains fostering increased utility and potential demand within Stellars ecosystem.

However, this has not gone to plan, as Stellars price has failed to match the positive advancements in its ecosystem. Instead, bearish sentiment has engulfed XLM, which has contributed to the recent downward price movement.

Related Reading: XRP Next Step: Heres Why An Upward Move Could Be Likely

The bearish sentiment indicates that market participants are cautious about XLM, leading to selling pressure and a lack of significant buying interest. It is important to consider the impact of market sentiment on short-term price fluctuations, as it can create challenges for price recovery and limit the potential for bullish momentum in the near term.

Whats Next For Stellar (XLM)?

Although XLM is currently experiencing a bearish sentiment, the long-term prospects for the cryptocurrency remain positive. Stellars roadmap for 2023 focuses on enhancing network utility through strategic initiatives. This includes making innovation easy and scalable through Soroban development, scaling and decentralization endeavors, and improving developer wallet tools. Stellar aims to win over builders by accelerating the growth of widely-used assets, promoting accessibility and user-friendly apps, and leveraging smart contracts for sustainable use cases in the DeFi ecosystem.

Related Reading: Circle Intervenes, Freezes $63 Million From Multichain Hack

Furthermore, Stellars focus on utility and building trust involves engaging in public policy, raising platform awareness, and maintaining high-quality wallet products. These initiatives are designed to strengthen Stellars position in the market and drive future growth. While short-term price movements may be influenced by market sentiment, the long-term success of Stellar relies on the...

Psychiatry Killed Tuva Andersson, Whose Problem Was Anxiety "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Tuva Andersson was 37 years old when she committed suicide in 2019 in her apartment where she lived alone in Sweden. Her mother, Karina Hjelm, wanted me to tell her story hoping it might prevent other tragic and unnecessary deaths. She also needed an expert report to be used for her complaint to the prosecutor about serious medical malpractice. This summary is based on my 60-page report.

Tuva Andersson
Tuva Andersson

Tuva suffered from anxiety. This should have been handled by psychosocial interventions. Instead, she was exposed to professional incompetence, gross medical negligence, malpractice, stigmatisation by a variety of fluffy, ever changing, and unspecific diagnoses, and polypharmacy which included forced treatment with a depot neuroleptic that made it impossible for her to withdraw from it.

During the last year of Tuvas life, her psychiatrists took away her hope of ever leaving psychiatry and becoming better. This is the worst thing a psychiatrist can do to a patient, as it increases the suicide risk dramatically.

Tuva ended up being at very high risk of suicide. She had nothing to live for, and yet the psychiatrists only concern was to continue to write prescriptions for drugs that harmed her. When she had difficulty concentrating and focussing or had other issues, the psychiatrists consistently ascribed this to her psychiatric illness, not to their drugs, in contrast to some alert nurses.

Tuva would likely not have died if the psychiatrists had not ignored her observations, wishes, and crucial questions. She so much wanted to come off her drugs, and she did not get the psychotherapy she requested repeatedly, which would likely have saved her life.

The gruesome story of Tuva Andersson

Tuva was artistic and played music and painted. Such people are often sensitive, and Tuva had some social difficulties.

When a van turned up for the goods, they loaded it all up and sent them away without asking for any kind of ID or manifest.

The payment card was later reported as stolen and the staff member who vouched for the customer denied even being in that day, which was a fucking lie as she never took time off. I got fired and everyone else got to keep their jobs.

PEPE Bulls Losing Steam? Fatigue Appears To Undermine Price Rally "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

PEPE, once riding the waves of a bullish surge, finds itself in a precarious position as the price correction of Bitcoin (BTC)] reverberates across the market.

Over the past 24 hours, the signs of exhaustion have become increasingly apparent, casting a shadow of doubt on PEPEs recent gains.

The critical resistance hurdle at $0.00000172 looms large, presenting an insurmountable challenge for the bullish forces that once propelled PEPEs ascent.

As the crypto realm holds its breath, all eyes are fixed on the fate of this whimsical digital asset, wondering if it can break free from the grip of resistance and soar to new heights.

PEPE Faces Bearish Pressure As Prices Experience A Slump

PEPEs price on CoinGecko currently stands at $0.00000157. Over the course of the past seven days, PEPE has experienced a slight decline of 2.5%. These recent figures have raised concerns among investors and analysts alike, as PEPEs bullish momentum appears to be waning.

For the past three weeks, PEPE had been enjoying a bullish fervor, displaying impressive price surges. The trend even persisted through the first week of July, as PEPE managed to break past the critical resistance level at $0.00000172.

However, this triumph proved to be short-lived as declining trading volumes paved the way for bearish forces to seize control, putting a halt to the buying pressure.

This Person Got a Dog Even Though It Means Their Family Can No Longer Stay at Their House. Are They Wrong? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The dogs in and youre out!

Uh ohthat doesnt sound good, does it?

It sure doesnt!

But this person must have had their reasons for doing this, right?

Check out what they had to say below so you can get all the details.

Start now!

AITA for getting a dog even though it means my family cannot stay at my house?

My younger brother is very allergic to dogs. I love them. I have wanted one all my life but we couldnt have one because it would be bad for him.

I never held this against him. I understood that it was a medical thing and that it would be stupid to risk his health just for me to get a dog.

However I have recently purchased my my own home in a different state than my family. And I got myself a dog. His name is Bradford and he is a husky. My dream dog.

I posted a pictures of Bradley on my socials and my parents saw them. They said it was irresponsible of me to get a dog because of my brother. I was like WTF? I literally live hundreds of miles away from them. Our next door neighbor had dogs when I was growing up. Its not like he will affect my brother at all.

They said that they were planning on asking if my brother could stay with me while he attended college. News to me.

I said it probably would have been a good idea to let me know they were planning on that since they do not own...

Authentic Ramones Cover Band Barely Learns Songs, Instruments "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

AMARILLO, Texas Local Ramones cover band Endless Vacation reportedly neglected to learn their instruments or songs on their setlist, according to sources who could most certainly tell.

The Ramones never bothered to tune their instruments, let alone play them correctly, and thats why I only set aside 20 minutes a month to hone my musical craft, said Endless Vacation guitarist Nick Childress as he threw away his Guitar for Dummies book that he had never even opened. The majority of their albums were played by session musicians, not the real Ramones. At least thats what I heard. Thats why I dont see why I should waste my life studying and practicing like a chump when I can focus on what really matters: Looking cool on stage. Thats what the Ramones wouldve wanted.

Endless Vacation manager Ciara Johnson-Esposito says the band allocates a large portion of their resources to non-musical endeavors.

Upwards of 80% of their budget is spent on leather jackets, sunglasses, plain t-shirts, and rare pressings of Ramones records and the other 20% is for cocaine, said Johnson-Esposito as she booked the group to open for a Clash cover band. Lets face it, the Ramones really only played two songs. A fast one and a slightly less fast one. So once you can get those two down, you can basically play them all. All you really have to do is get the gist of a Ramones song to be able to cover it. Thats the whole charm of them.

Marky Ramones former drum tech Rob Gould confirmed as much.

Oh yeah, Marky always played the wrong song live. Sometimes on accident, but usually on purpose, said Gould as he twirled a corn dog like a drumstick. Oftentimes the audience wouldnt even notice, let alone the rest of the band. Hell, most of the time Joey was singing a Beach Boys song or something and nobody was none the wiser. But nearly every classic punk band from the late 70s and early 80s was just winging it up on stage. It was just a different time.

At press time, Endless Vacation discovered that they could double their profits by becoming a Sex Pistols cover band on the side, despite not learning any of their songs either.

Every Primus Album Ranked Worst to Best "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

Welcome to the wacky and wonderful world of Les Claypool and Primus. Unless you are a bass player, there is probably little chance that you have actually worked your way through the Primus discography. Luckily, we are here to hold your hand as we wanted through the musical equivalent of Alices Adventures in Wonderland.

9. Brown Album (1998)

Is the schtick getting old or is Primus struggling to remain Primus? This is the most Frank Zappa drenched in Ketamine of all of their albums thus far. The album just kicks off with a sluggish spoken word mistake of a track and is never able to catch up with itself. I will applaud the band for leaning away from the catchy hooks into more experimental territory, unfortunately that experiment was a failure.

Why does every latter-day Primus track sound like a doctor trying to explain something to you while you are slipping under anesthesia? There is just no energy in most of these tracks with some of them sounding like a demented segment of Sesame Street. This all sounds like if Tool took themselves slightly less seriously. I know Primus isnt really the kind of band to have singles, but it is like they are actively working against having any kind of melody or hook.

There was one name that dominated the covers 90s hardcore albums and his name was Amorphous Bald Humanoid. Much like how Parker Posey was the it girl of the 90s indie movie scene, ABH was the it model for 90s hardcore.

We recently sat down with ABH to discuss the high points and the low points of his very limited career.

Amorphous Bald Humanoid: It all started when I booked the gig to be on the cover of Snapcases lookinglasself. I really wanted to get that Earth Crisis Destroy the Machines cover but that rat fucker Mike who is another bald humanoid but who has actual facial features got it.

Ever worked with anyone outside of hardcore?

I auditioned for the cover of Blink-182 Enema of the State but they said they wanted a hot human porn star and not as they said a horrific formless creature who looks like a first year art school students final project.

Things seemed to start to slow down for you in the 2000s. What do you think happened?

Seems like at that point everyone just wanted some kind of skull with splattered bullshit everywhere. Like Photoshop just threw up on every cover. I started to lose gigs.

How did that affect you?

It was rough, I had to move out of my condo in Santa Monica and into the interdimensional domain beyond human comprehension with my parents.

Anything else?

It all really came crashing down once Jane Doe left me for that skeleton guy from The Misfits.

What do you do now for work?

Im an un-sanctioned Slenderman impersonator for tourists in Times Square. Its not bad, it pays the bills. The other mascots who work there always complain about how bad the German tourists smell but luckily I cant tell since I have no actual orrifices.

Any plans to get back into the hardcore scene?

I heard Snapcase is doing some shows soon. Thought it would be great to go onstage with them and be like an in-person mascot like Eddie from Iron Maiden. I reached out to them and havent heard back I hope it works out. Finger crossed! Well, not fingers since I dont have them but you know what I mean.

Woman Shopping at Guitar Center Blissfully Unaware She Just Became Employees Muse "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

FRANKLIN, Tenn. Local Guitar Center customer Jess Haylin was unaware that a routine trip to buy equipment would lead to her becoming the muse of part-time employee Chris Carrington, confirmed unsurprised staff members.

There I was, thinking it was just another Saturday afternoon of kids being shuffled into the store by their parents and keeping customers from climbing the walls of guitars like this is some kind of rock-climbing gym, when a girlno, a goddesswalked through the door, said Carrington, while dreamily toeing an Electro-Harmonix looper pedal. As soon as I laid eyes on her, the only woman to come into the store that day, I felt a well of inspiration bubble up inside me. I just had to continue strumming the guitar that was already in my hands and write a song about her. After years of seeking, I knew she was it. Id finally found my muse.

When asked about her experience of being a muse to a man with access to thousands of instruments for sixteen hours a week, Haylin was reportedly confused.

Wait, what? You mean the guy behind the counter strumming the Taylor DLX Grand? Oh I mean, I barely spoke with him. I just came in to grab a few new cables for my studio and he rang me up at the register, said Haylin. He seemed friendly, sure, but I thought thats just how youre supposed to be when you work in sales. This same thing happened to me after I bought a hot-glue gun at Michaels. An employee there decided he needed to paint portraits of me and it became a whole ordeal with restraining orders. I knew I shouldve just ordered those cables online.

Guitar Centers Executive Director of Marketing and Brand Customer Relations Experience, Randall Kenson, cites Carrington and Haylins dynamic as a testament to the companys mission.

At Guitar Center, we believe music is the greatest unifying force in the world. Our mission is to fill the world with music. I am absolutely delighted to learn that Chris Carrington, one of our valued retail employees, was able to draw inspiration from a member of our loyal customer base, said Kenson in between writing songs about a recently hired office temp. Surely the music he creates while off the clock on instruments outside of the store will be a meaningful contribution to whatever genre of music he plays.

Upon follow-up three weeks later, Carrington reported to have written two half-finished demos and a chorus inspired by Haylin.

Religious Right vs. LGBT Rights: SCOTUS Verdict Undermines Equality "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The US Supreme Court ruled in a controversial and historic case on June 30th that a Christian web designer cannot be forced to make customized messages and websites that celebrate same-sex marriage under the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

This new ruling is among a series of controversial decisions centered around discrimination and civil rights that the Supreme Court recently made. On June 29th, the Court ruled against affirmative action in colleges and universities. A day after that, the Supreme Court struck down President Joe Bidens plans to forgive $430 billion in student loan debt, a policy that could benefit 43 million Americans.

In a 6-3 vote split among ideological lines, the conservative-majority Supreme Court ruled in favor of Lorie Smith, an evangelical Christian web and graphic designer from Colorado. The case, 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, was first filed in 2016 when Smith, owner of 303 Creative, challenged a Colorado law prohibiting businesses from discriminating against LGBTQIA+ customers.

Colorados Civil Rights Division argued that Smith could not deny her services to LGBTQIA+ customers under the states Anti-Discrimination Act. Smith used a hypothetical decision to argue that she cannot be compelled to design wedding websites for same-sex couples, as it would violate her freedom of expression and right to exercise her religious freedom.

Smith also preemptively filed her lawsuit to prevent Colorado from enforcing its Anti-Discrimination Act against her firm, as she hasn't made wedding websites for gay couples or turned down LGBTQIA+ customers. Instead, she raised her concerns on the matter as she planned to expand her business...

Indonesia's Blasphemy Epidemic "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Several human rights groups in Indonesia have called on the government to place a moratorium on blasphemy, urging them to amend the countrys laws on blasphemy and calling on the police to temporarily halt the enforcement of blasphemy-related articles to stop the abuse of religious minorities in the Muslim-majority country.

The Setara Institute for Democracy and Peace, one of Indonesias leading advocacy groups for human rights and religious freedom, released a statement, expecting the Indonesian National Police (INP) "will further contribute to strengthening Indonesia's diversity and guaranteeing protection and respect for the right to freedom of religion and belief for all citizens."

This statement, released by the Jakarta-based institute on July 2nd, came after the police and the Indonesian government marked its 77th founding anniversary, with guests including Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

In the statement signed by the groups deputy chairman, Bonar Tigor Naipospos, the Setara Institute encouraged Indonesian authorities to stop or at least implement a moratorium on the use of religious blasphemy articles."

Under laws such as the 1965 Prevention of Religious Blasphemy Law and Articles 156 and 157 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, blasphemy is prohibited in the Muslim-majority, South East Asian island nation of more than 270 million people.

Two giant hand axes have been uncovered in prehistoric sediment in England. "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Picture
The tools, which are more than 300,000-year-old, are so big they are difficult to handle.

The 300,000-year-old tools, slabs of flint chipped on both sides to create jagged edges, were found among than 800 artifacts buried on a hillside above the Medway Valley in Kent.
"We describe these tools as 'giants' when they are over 22cm long and we have two in this size range," senior archaeologist Letty Ingrey of the UCL Institute of Archeology said in a press release.
Picture
The largest of the two hand axes, which is about 12 inches long, is "one of the longest ever found in Britain," said Ingrey, who participated in the excavation.

Archaeologists think these types of tools were typically used to butcher or skin animals.
But these particular hand axes "are so big it's difficult to imagine how they could have been easily held and used," Ingrey said.
"Perhaps they fulfilled a less practical or more symbolic function than other tools, a clear demonstration of strength and skill," she said.

XRP Next Step: Heres Why An Upward Move Could Be Likely "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

XRPs price performance has been underwhelming recently, with a notable decline from its previous highs. Regulatory uncertainties surrounding Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP, have played a significant role in dampening investor sentiment.

The ongoing legal battle between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding the classification of XRP as a security has raised concerns about the assets long-term viability.

However, despite these challenges, there are reasons to remain cautiously optimistic about XRPs future.

XRP Shows Potential For A Reversal Despite Recent Declines

XRP, currently priced at $0.467053 according to CoinGecko, has experienced a marginal decline of 0.5% over the past 24 hours and a slight drop of 0.3% over the past seven days.

However, despite dropping toward the $0.46 level, which serves as the lower border of a descending price channel, there are indications that a likely upward shift may be on the horizon.

Up until a breakout to the upper border, which denotes a potential trend reversal, descending price channels are often bearish patterns. In line with this downward trend, XRP has been trading at regularly lower highs and lows.

The currency is currently experiencing a significant decline in its value, and it is approaching the lower limit of a trading channel. This decline has created an environment that holds the potential for a potential recovery to take place.

When a currency approaches the bottom border of a trading channel, it suggests that it has reached a support level, a point at which there is increased demand for the currency, which could lead to a reversal in its downward trend.

According to an XRP price report, when a cryptocurrency reaches the lower border of a descending channel, it often signifies a critical juncture where buying pressure may overcome selling pressure, leading to a reversal in the price direction.

While past performance is not indicative of future results, this development suggests that XRP may be poised for an upward movement in the foreseeable future.

'Quran Sanctity Day': The Pakistani Government's Fight Against Desecration "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

In response to an incident in Sweden where an Iraqi refugee desecrated the Quran, the Pakistani government declared July 7th as Yaum-i-Taqaddus-i-Quran, or the day for the protection of the Qurans sanctity, to convey their outrage over the issue.

The Pakistani Parliament also held a joint session on July 6th to express their shock and grief over this latest Quran-burning incident in Sweden through the countrys highest representative body. The legislature also planned to adopt a resolution condemning the burning of the Quran.

These decisions were made after the federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, met to discuss the issue. The government also decided to hold rallies that would be held across Pakistan on July 7th to protest the incident that occurred in Stockholm, Swedens capital, in June.

The prime minister appealed to everyone in Pakistan, including all political parties, to participate in the demonstrations to send a message of unity to mischievous minds.

Radical Islam Unveiled: Germanys Stunning Action Against Islamic Center "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Federal Administrative Court of Germany upheld a ruling that the Islamic Center in Hamburg, also known as the Blue Mosque, is an "extremist Islamic organization for its activities, such as supporting the Iranian government.

On June 30th, the Administrative Court of Hamburg upheld the classification of the Islamic Centers activities by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany as "Islamic extremism, even after the center filed a complaint against this categorization.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution identified the activities of the Blue Mosque, one of the oldest and biggest Shia mosques in Germany, as falling under the classification of "extremist Islamist organizations as early as 2018 and 2019.

The Administrative Court began hearing the complaint filed by the Islamic Center of Hamburg and conducted oral hearings last April and May. While German intelligence officials in Hamburg published documents showing the links between the Blue Mosque and the Islamic Republic as well as other Islamist groups such as Lebanons Hezbollah, the courts decision did not confirm these findings that the Islamic Center acted as an extension of the Iranian regime in Europe.

The courts ruling also acknowledges a partial acceptance of the complaint filed by the Islamic Center of Hamburg, leading to the prohibition of the release of specific sections of the report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Const...

Mob Justice Unleashed: Bangladesh in Turmoil over Alleged Blasphemous Post "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Around 2,500 people were arrested in Bangladesh on June 4th after an allegedly blasphemous Facebook post defaming the Prophet Muhammad sparked street violence in the Muslim-majority, South Asian nation.

Most of those arrested for participating in the violence in the countrys capital Dhaka were unidentified. Bangladeshi authorities also arrested a man named Mohammad Sohel for making the reportedly blasphemous social media post.

Authorities reported that they tried to rescue Sohel from the mob of 2,500 Muslims trying to lynch him in the violence-stricken area of Kafrul in Dhaka. Sohel was sent to the state-run Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Sohel, accused of violating Bangladeshs strict Digital Security Act, maintained his innocence and insisted that he knew nothing about the blasphemous Facebook post, adding that his account was hacked.

Sohel has been accused in the case. There is evidence indicating his involvement in insulting the prophet, Mohammad Abdul Baten, the police officer in charge of the Kafrul police station, said regarding the incident.

Baten also added that the 2,500 arrested were charged with blocking the police from performing their duties, assaulting the authorities, and destroying public property. Around 12 policemen were injured during the violence triggered by the allegedly blasphemous Facebook post.

The clash erupted after Bangladeshi police tried to block the mob, who were attempting to lynch Sohel in reaction to the Facebook post, from attacking him. Baten did not provide further details about the Facebook post that incited the violence.

Another case was also opened in relation to this incident, where 28 people were charged with attacking the police. Their identities were not immediately disclosed to the public.

On June 19, an arrest was issued to Dayal Hari Das Joni over a photoshopped image he allegedly posted on Facebook, which hurt the sentiment of Muslims. A large rally followed where protesters demanded the hanging of the blasphemer.

4-Year-Old Child Sacrificed in Tantric Rituals in India "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A four-year-old boy was found dead in India, with his body containing injuries sustained from what authorities believe was a human sacrifice ritual.

The boy was identified as Satyendra. He was murdered in a village in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, according to an announcement by the Indian authorities on June 14th. Four people were arrested in the incident, including the boys stepmother and a man described as an occultist.

Indian police said that the boys stepmother was told that she would need to sacrifice him so that she could bear her own child. Satyendras body was discovered at a pond in Rehsi village under the limits of the Jamo police station on June 10th. Injuries were found on his eyes, ears, and right elbow. Authorities believe these injuries were caused while performing tantric or occult rituals.

Elamaran G, police superintendent of the Amethi district, said Satyendra went outside to play on June 9th but did not return home that day. At around 3 am on June 10th, his father, Jitendra Prajapati, filed a missing complaint to the authorities to find him.

Hours later, a villager [named] Dhan Bahadur informed the boys father that Satyendras body was found floating in a nearby pond, Elamaran G said. Based on suspicion, Jitendra lodged a complaint against his wife Renu Prajapati (30 years old), father-in-law Mangru Prajapati (55 years old), mother-in-law Prema Devi (53 years old), and the occultist Dayaram Yadav (65 years old).

Religious Favoritism? SCOTUS Backs Christian's Fight for Religious Rights "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Several religious groups in the United States are celebrating after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Christian who sued his former employer for alleged religious discrimination after forcing him to work on Sundays, which was against his religious beliefs.

In Groff v. DeJoy, the conservative-majority Supreme Court unanimously sided with Gerald Groff, a former mail carrier from Pennsylvania and a devout evangelical Christian. He was hired by the United States Postal Service (USPS) to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. However, he refused to work Sunday shifts, citing his belief that Sundays should be considered rest days.

While the USPS management initially accommodated his religious beliefs in their four-person post office, he was later required to work Sunday shifts after a co-worker was injured and a replacement couldnt be found. Groff refused and completely skipped those Sunday shifts, forcing other co-workers to cover for him. Groff was later disciplined, resigned, and sued USPS for refusing to provide reasonable accommodations for his Christian beliefs.

The new ruling clarified that employers must do more than the bare minimum to accommodate the religious beliefs of their employees, in contrast to Trans World Airlines v. Hardison in 1997, where the Supreme Court previously ruled that employers only need to suffer minimal hardship to deny their employees requests for religious observance, which became known as the controversial de minimus standard.

Although Groff v. DeJoy did not wholly overturn Trans World Airlines v. Hardison, the Supreme...

Stoned to Death for Blasphemy: Nigeria's Rising Intolerance "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

In northwestern Nigeria, an angry mob killed a man after accusing him of blasphemy on June 25th, triggering outrage from human rights groups who raised concerns about the growing threat against religious freedom in the region.

Ahmad Rufai, a police spokesperson, released a statement on the night of June 25th, stating that a butcher named Usman Buda was stoned to death in the Gwandu district of Sokoto state because he allegedly blasphemed the Holy Prophet, Muhammad while arguing with a fellow trader in the marketplace.

He added that a police team was deployed in the area, but when they arrived, the mob escaped the scene and left the victim unconscious. Rufai added that Buda was declared dead at the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.

Videos appearing to be from the scene where Buda was killed were shared on social media by the residents, which showed a large crowd, including some children that threw stones and cursed at him.

Many activists and religious groups said Budas murder was the latest attack against religious freedom in northern Nigeria, a region predominantly populated by Muslims. Blasphemy carries the death penalty under Islamic law in the region.

The states governor, Ahmed Aliyu, said that residents should not take the law into their own hands. However, he added that his government w...

Nun Sexting Scandal: Accused Priest Refuses to Cooperate "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

An American priest has been suspended from his duties as a clergy member for being involved in a sex scandal with a nun. He refuses to cooperate with the churchs investigation on the issue.

The priest, 38-year-old Father Phillip Johnson, has also lawyered up after he was accused, along with 43-year-old Rev. Mother Superior Teresa Agnes Gerlach, fired after the news of the sex scandal broke out.

He would neither confirm or deny his involvement, Fort Worth Bishop Michael Olson told church members in a video meant to address the growing issue.

The superior informed me that the priest, on the advice of his own canonical counsel, refused to participate in the investigation, Olson added.

While Gerlach admitted that she and Johnson had a long-distance sexting relationship over email and video call, she insisted that she has not broken her chastity vow as a nun and claimed that she was unfairly removed from the diocese she used to preside over in Arlington, Texas.

Now, Gerlach is suing the church for $1 million for alleged defamation and illegal confiscation of her phone and laptop. She also suffered from health problems, which caused her to become wheelchair-bound and need a feeding tube.

In a shocking 40-minute recording played during a court hearing on June 27th, Gerlach admitted that she and Johnson were sexting. She also confessed that he and I were writing often to each other. And we just got very close, and thats when it happened.

She revealed that she sent emails to Johnson and then indicated that just twice, on the phone, they committed an unspecified sexual sin on video chat.

And today were going to hear from folks on AskReddit about things that are normal in their countries but weird everywhere else.

New York City Paid Up to $14,050 Per COVID-19 Vaccination Administered: Audit "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

By Zachary Stieber,
New York City health officials regularly overpaid a contractor to administer COVID-19 tests and vaccines, paying as much as $14,050 for a single COVID-19 vaccination, an audit shows. Officials let Executive Medical Services, a contractor awarded a contract early in the COVID-19 pandemic, to set its own staffing levels, leading to uncontrolled costs, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander found. That led to exorbitant costs and low efficiency, with an analysis of invoices showing that only one vaccination was administered for every two billed hours. Emergency contracting allows the City to stand up vital services in times of crisis, but demands heightened vigilance to safeguard the fiscal interests of the City. Our audit reveals significant weaknesses in the control mechanisms that impact past, present, and potentially future emergencies. By addressing these challenges head-on, agencies can better spend New York Citys taxpayer dollars wisely and efficiently, even in crises, Lander, a Democrat, said in a statement. A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Health Services, which paid Executive Medical Services, told The Epoch Times via email that it monitored staffing levels on an ongoing basis, and that the numbers from the auditors do not reflect the complexity of running these sites. The spokesperson also said that many of the sites were at schools, where vaccination and tests were required to be provided to students returning to in-person learning. Executive Medical Services, also known as Affiliated Physicians, didnt respond to a request for comment.

Contract

The agency originally agreed to pay Executive Medical Services up to $500,000. After six amendments to the contract, stretching it through the end of 2022, the agency paid the contractor some $390 million. The contract paid Executive Medical Services to create long-term and temporary, or popup, sites for COVID-19 testing or vaccination. Out of 302 sites, 267 were temporary. Landers office investigated to see whether the Department of Health made sure payments to the contractor were legal, that staffing levels were reasonably aligned with demand, and whether sites were established equitably under the contract...

Effectiveness of aromatherapy on anxiety and sleep quality among adult patients admitted into intensive care units. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Intensive Crit Care Nurs. 2023 Jun ;76:103396. Epub 2023 Feb 2. PMID: 36738535 Abstract Title:  Effectiveness of aromatherapy on anxiety and sleep quality among adult patients admitted into intensive care units: A systematic review. Abstract:  PURPOSE: This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of aromatherapy on anxiety and sleep quality among adult patients admitted to an intensive care unit.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic search for published and unpublished studies across nine databases and sources were conducted. Randomised Controlled Trials and Controlled Clinical Trials, which assessed the effectiveness of aromatherapy on anxiety and sleep quality among intensive care unit patients, were included in this review. Only studies that used aromatherapy as a single intervention were included. Narrative synthesis was conducted across all outcomes due to high heterogeneity across studies.RESULTS: A total of 26 studies involving 2176 participants across six countries were included in this review. Most studies had an overall high risk of bias. Publication bias was detected in the studies. Findings have shown that aromatherapy may be effective in reducing anxiety based on the low GRADE certainty of evidence, and improving sleep quality based on the very low GRADE certainty of evidence. Inconsistencies in findings were also observed.CONCLUSION: Aromatherapy might be beneficial on anxiety and sleep quality among intensive care unit patients, however, the level of evidence is very low, based on the low quality of studies. Considerations can be made to incorporate aromatherapy into existing interventions that improve anxiety and sleep quality in the intensive care unit. Due to inconsistencies in findings, further research can be done to investigate and strengthen these evidence.IMPLICATION FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE: This review has demonstrated that aromatherapy may have benefits on anxiety and sleep quality. Despite uncertain evidence, aromatherapy may still be considered as a complementary or alternative option to improve anxiety and sleep quality among intensive care patients as it is relatively safe, cost-effective and easy to implement (Buckle, 2014). However, proper training by a professional clinical aromatherapist is needed to ensure there is screening of patients for suitability, proper technique for administering aromatherapy, safe handling of essential oils and monitoring for adverse events (Farrar&Farrar, 2020).

AITARemindedEx Is She Wrong for Not Reminding Her Ex That He Was Supposed to Visit Their Daughter?

If you get a bunch of grief for NOT reminding your ex to visit their own child, then Id say that theres probably a big problem going on there

And a woman took to Reddits Am I the A**hole? page to see what the readers there thought about her situation.

Take a look and see what you think!

AITA for not reminding my ex he was supposed to come over to see our daughter?

I (26F) have a 7 year old daughter. My ex (28M) wasnt involved in her life by his own choosing. Back in December, he reached out.

It took some time, talking and a little therapy. Hes been back in our daughters life for about 4 months now. We are working with the courts to establish paternity and for him to get custody. In the meantime, Ive let him visit her at my place. Hes taken her on day trips. Since getting a bigger apartment, hes had her spend the night.

He was supposed to visit her Wednesday, have dinner with us and watch a movie. We try to do things the three of us, per the therapists recommendation so she can see us get along. My ex said hed be over around 6:00.

He didnt show up. By 6:30, my daughter was hungry, so I fed her. I tried to put off the movie, but eventually let her watch it. She was disappointed about her dad not showing up. I put her to bed at 9.

11:30, my ex calls, freaking out. He said he forgot we were supposed to have dinner. He only remembered because his girlfriend came home from work and ask...

Circle Intervenes, Freezes $63 Million From Multichain Hack "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Circle, the official issuer of USDC, the second largest stablecoin by circulating supply, has frozen $63 million from the Multichain hack. Compiled Etherscan data on July 7 shows that the stablecoin issuer froze $27.65 million, $30.1 million, and $5.5 million in three transactions, hampering the hackers cash-out efforts.

Multichain Hacked, Circle Intervenes

Multichain, a cross-chain protocol router, was hacked on July 7, resulting in the loss of over $126 million worth of various tokens. The exploit came after the attacker illegally accessed Multichains Multi-Party Computation (MPC) address, which stores funds locked between blockchains.

Subsequently, the hacker withdrew funds from the address and moved them to an externally controlled wallet. The Fantom Bridge was adversely affected by this outflow as the hacker withdrew various tokens, including wBTC, USDC, and USDT. There were a handful of other altcoins that the hacker stole.

Funds were also stripped from the Moonriver Bridge, with observers noting that at least $6.8 million worth of various coins, including USDC, were moved to an external address. It is also reported that an address associated with Multichain connecting with Dogecoin also lost over $600,000.

The stolen USDC has now been frozen and cannot be moved, a relief for the community. However, it is not clear whether Circle will reverse funds to Multichain. In the past, Tether Holdings and Circle, the centralized issuers of the worlds most liquid stablecoins, have intervened to prevent bad actors from cashing out.

Hack Compounding Multichains Woes, Bitcoin Firm

Peckshield, a blockchain security firm, was the first to pick out the unusual transfers of over $118 million worth of assets from Multichains Fantom and Moonriver bridges. The firm went on to tag the team behind the cross-chain protocol, who immediately acted.

In response to the hack, Multichain said the outflow was abnormal and halted all activity while recommending users pause their protocol and revoke all contracts approval.

Although the Multichain team had assured the community that the private keys controlling asset movements through the bridge are secure and stored on-chain, their technology appears to have flaws, resulting in the hack. The hack marks what has also been a tumultuous past few weeks. Besides delayed transactions and what the team described as multiple issues, the founder is miss...

PMID: 36651329 Abstract Title:  Effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascene and lavender on pain and anxiety of burn patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Abstract:  Pain and anxiety were considered the most common complications of treatment procedures in burn patients. Non-pharmacological drugs, including aromatherapy, can decrease these issues. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to summarise the effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascene (RD) and lavender on the pain and anxiety of burn patients. A systematic search was performed on international electronic databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science, as well as on Iranian electronic databases such as Iranmedex and Scientific Information Database (SID) with keywords extracted from Medical Subject Headings such as "Burns", "Pain", "Pain management", "Anxiety", and "Aromatherapy" were performed from the earliest to November 1, 2022. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal checklist assessed the quality of randomised control trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental studies. STATA v.14 software was used to estimate pooled effect size. Heterogeneity was assessed with Ivalue. Random effect model and inverse-variance method using sample size, mean, and standard deviation changes were applied to determine standard mean differences (SMD). The confidence interval of 95% was considered to determine the confidence level. A total of 586 burn patients participated in six studies, including three RCT studies and three quasi-experimental studies. The results based on RCT studies showed RD significantly decreased the dressing pain average when compared to the control group (SMD: -1.61, 95%CI: -2.32 to -0.99, Z = 5.09, I: 66.2%, P

PMID:  Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2023 ;2023:4926151. Epub 2023 Apr 10. PMID: 37078068 Abstract Title:  Effect ofExtract on Rat Model Alzheimer's Disease: A Histopathological, Behavioral, Enzyme Activities, and Oxidative Stress Study. Abstract:  The purpose of the current study is to investigate the effect of aquaticextract against the oxidative damage induced by aluminum chloride intoxication in Alzheimer's model of Wister rats. Rats were divided randomly into seven groups (=10). Control group received no treatment, sham group received distilled water orally, aluminum group (AL) was administered AlCl(100mg/kg) orally, extract 1 and 2 groups were treated with only aqueousextract (DRE) (500 and 1000mg/kg), and treatment 1 and 2 groups received aqueousextract (500 and 1000mg/kg) and AlCl(100mg/kg) orally. The brain tissues were sampled for histopathological examination, and biochemical analysis was conducted for estimating the enzyme activities of acetylcholinesterase and catalase (CAT), the levels of GSH and MDA, and ferric reducing antioxidant power. According to the results of behavioral tests, AL administration showed a reduction in spatial memory and remarkably increased the time needed for reaching the invisible platform. The administration of Al-induced oxidative stress and an increase of the enzyme activity of AChE. Al administration increased AChE level from 1.1760.173 to 3.620.348, which was a significant rise. However, treating with the extract at the dose of 1000mg/kg downregulated it to 1.560.303. Administration of theextract caused an increased level of catalase and glutathione levels in treatment groups, attenuated MDA level, and regulated AChE activity. Our results illustrate that administration ofextract has a protective effect against the oxidative damage induced by AlClintoxication in Alzheimer's model.

Rosa gallica and its active compound, cyanidin-3,5-O-diglucoside, improve skin hydration. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Biofactors. 2023 Mar ;49(2):415-427. Epub 2022 Dec 27. PMID: 36573713 Abstract Title:  Rosa gallica and its active compound, cyanidin-3,5-O-diglucoside, improve skin hydration via the GLK signaling pathway. Abstract:  Rosa gallica has been previously reported to display anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-skin wrinkle activities. However, the effect of Rosa gallica on skin hydration and its active components are largely unknown. Herein, we aimed to investigate the skin hydration effect of rose petal extract (RPE) in humans and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism. A double-blinded clinical study was performed to investigate the effect of RPE on skin hydration. Stratum corneum moisture analysis demonstrated that RPE treatment significantly improved hydration levels in human skin. Furthermore, HAS2 and hyaluronic acid levels were notably increased by RPE in keratinocytes and 3D human skin equivalent model. By comparing the modulatory effect on HAS2 expression, cyanidin-3,5-O-diglucoside (CDG) was identified as the most potent compound in RPE likely responsible for skin hydration. The kinase activity of GLK, an upstream regulator of MAPK signaling, was increased by CDG in a dose-dependent manner. Importantly, silencing GLK reversed CDG-mediated HAS2 upregulation, further supporting the involvement of GLK in the CDG-mediated effects. Binding of CDG to GLK was confirmed by pull-down assay and computer modeling. These findings suggest that RPE and its active component CDG increases skin hydration by upregulating HAS2 expression through modulating the GLK-MAP2K-MAPK signaling pathway.

Rosa canina L. improves learning and memory-associated cognitive impairment. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  J Ethnopharmacol. 2023 Sep 15 ;313:116541. Epub 2023 Apr 23. PMID: 37088237 Abstract Title:  Rosa canina L. improves learning and memory-associated cognitive impairment by regulating glucose levels and reducing hippocampal insulin resistance in high-fat diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Abstract:  ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Recent studies claim that Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) overlap in several common pathological pathways which from neuronal damage to impaired memory performance. It is known that the use of Rosa canina L. (R. canina) as medicine in folk medicine dates back to ancient times and is used in the treatment of nervous diseases in Persian medicine. However, the effect of R. canina on diabetes-related cognitive decline and memory impairment has not yet been studied.AIM OF THE STUDY: We evaluated the impact of T2DM on AD-like alterations and examined the molecular mechanism of a possible effect of R. canina on cognitive alterations in diabetic rats.MATERIALS&METHODS: R. canina ethanol extract was obtained by maceration method. This study was performed with male Sprague-Dawley rats fed with a high-fat diet (HFD) for 8 weeks, low-dose streptozotocin (STZ; 35 mg/kg IP) injection for 4 weeks, and R. canina (250 mg/kg; per oral) and metformin (400 mg/kg; per oral) administration for 4 weeks. The weight and blood glucose of rats were measured weekly. To evaluate glucose tolerance area under the curve (AUC) was calculated by performing an oral glucose tolerance test. Then the rats were subjected to behavioural tests, and their hippocampus and cortex tissues were obtained for biochemical and morphological analyses.RESULTS: R. canina could manage glucose responsiveness by reducing post-prandial blood glucose levels, preventing weight loss, and raising serum insulin levels in T2DM-induced rats. Behavioural tests showed that R. canina significantly improves diabetes-related cognitive decline in recall and long-term memory. Treatment with R. canina significantly reversed HFD/STZ-induced increases in insulin, amyloid-, amyloid precursor protein levels, and acetylcholinesterase activity in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. Furthermore, histological analyzes revealed the protection of R. canina against neuronal disruption in the cortical and hippocampal CA3 region caused by chronic hyperglycemia.CONCLUSION: Analyzed collectively, these results suggest that R. canina can correct T2DM-related cognitive decline may be attributed to insulin pathway modulation, prevention of amyloid deposition, and increased cholinergic transmission.

Pingyin rose essential oil restores intestinal barrier integrity in DSS-induced colitis. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Food Res Int. 2023 Feb ;164:112362. Epub 2022 Dec 28. PMID: 36737950 Abstract Title:  Pingyin Rose Essential Oil Restores Intestinal Barrier Integrity in DSS-induced Mice Colitis Model. Abstract:  Rosa rugosa cv. Plena is a 'drug homologous food' in China with a long history. Pingyin rose essential oil (PREO) is a mixture of compounds extracted from blooming R. rugosa cv. Plena. With its elegant smell and excellent effects on oxidative stress and inflammation alleviation, PREO is wildly used in the food industry as a popular additive. We aimed to decipher if the PREO could alleviate and restore dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced barrier integrity damages. The results showed that a 7-day PREO (15 L/kg) treatment alleviated the colitis symptoms by improving disease activity index (DAI) scores through weight loss, occult blood, and colon shortening. The expression of tight junction proteins and the enzyme activities of superoxide dismutases (SOD), and catalase (CAT) increased while nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) production decreased in PREO-treated C57BL6 female mice. PREO treatment inhibited the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor (TNF-), interleukin (IL)-1, and IL-6. Further, PREO modulated the composition of the gut microbiota and Spearman's correlation analysis revealed a positive effect. The transcriptome analysis and western blot results indicated that PREO might ameliorate intestinal barrier dysfunction in this study via the TLR4-NF-kB signaling pathway. We hypothesized that PREO has preventive potential against gut disorders and could serve as a functional food additive.

Ethanol extract of Rosa laevigata fruit inhibits inflammatory responses. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Molecules. 2023 Mar 20 ;28(6). Epub 2023 Mar 20. PMID: 36985786 Abstract Title:  Ethanol Extract of. Fruit Inhibits Inflammatory Responses through NF-B/MAPK Signaling Pathways via AMPK Activation in RAW 264.7 Macrophages. Abstract:  The fruit of. (FR), a traditional Chinese herb utilized for the treatment of a variety diseases, has notably diverse pharmacological activities including hepatoprotective, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Despite ongoing research on illustrating the underlying anti-inflammatory mechanism of FR, the principal mechanism remained inadequately understood. In this study, we investigated in depth the molecular mechanism of the anti-inflammatory actions of the ethanol extract of FR (EFR) and its potential targets using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages in vitro. We showed that EFR effectively ameliorated the overproduction of inflammatory mediators and cytokines, as well as the expression of related genes. It was further demonstrated that LPS-induced activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-B) and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) were significantly inhibited by pretreatment with EFR, accompanied by a concomitant decrease in the nuclear translocation of the p65 subunit of NF-B and activator protein 1 (AP-1). In addition, EFR pretreatment potently prevented LPS-induced decreased phosphorylation of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Our data also revealed that the activation of AMPK and subsequent inhibition of the mammalian target of the rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway was probably responsible for the inhibitory effect of EFR on LPS-induced inflammatory responses, evidenced by reverse changes observed under the condition of AMPK inactivation following co-treatment with the AMPK-specific inhibitor Compound C. Finally, the main components with an anti-inflammatory effect in EFR were identified as madecassic acid, ellagic acid, quinic acid, and procyanidin C1 by LC-MS and testified based on the inhibition of NO production and inflammatory mediator expression. Taken together, our results indicated that EFR was able to ameliorate inflammatory responses via the suppression of MAPKs/NF-B signaling pathways following AMPK activation, suggesting the therapeutic potential of EFR for inflammatory diseases.

I got out but its hard because I make a good salary now and my family expects me to share it. I still have student loans and bills to pay but they seem to think Im rolling in money. I also bought an apartment in 2019 and when my parents found out they called me selfish and wanted me to pay for their expenses.

I have loaned money to my parents (about $800) and they forgot they borrowed money and claims I forgot that I gave it as a gift and said they didnt need to repay.

My sister and I use to have a good relationship but once I left for college and did better our relationship got more strained. She got married and I came back a few days before the wedding to help her set everything up. We went to the grocery store and she bought $1700 worth of groceries as we were cooking it for the wedding.

Her card was denied and she tried a few but they were all denied. We stepped aside and she called the credit card company to f...

This review identified the efficacy of music therapy among adult patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).We searched the PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library databases. Only randomized controlled studies reported in English of patients with CRC were included. Two reviewers independently extracted data on patients and intervention measurements. The main outcomes included pain, anxiety, quality of life, mood, nausea, vomiting, vital signs.A total of 147 articles were identified from the search. A total of 10 studies were included in the review. Nine out of the ten studies (90%) showed statistically and clinically significant improvements across the outcome variables. Only one study (10%) found no significant positive effect from music therapy in any of the measured outcomes. Among the seven studies measuring pain as an outcome, four studies (57%) demonstrated that music therapy reduced pain. Three studies (75%) showed that MT reduced anxiety. This systemic review indicates that music therapy might help reduce pain and anxiety for cancer patients, including those with colorectal cancer, who are receiving treatment in palliative care, inpatient care and outpatient care settings.

GM Children: Film Unveils 'Monstrous' Child Deformities "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published August 25, 2018.

The shocking film "Genetically Modified Children" unveils the horrors of decades of chemical-intensive agricultural practices in Argentina, where the majority of crops are genetically modified (GM) and routinely doused in dangerous agrochemicals, and the chokehold big tobacco companies such as Philip Morris and chemical and seed giants have on poverty-stricken farmers desperate to earn a living.

The film, produced by Juliette Igier and Stephanie Lebrun, shows the devastating health effects the region's agricultural sector is having on children,1 an increasing number of whom are being born with monstrous physical deformities. Some of the children's cases are so severe that, without a medical intervention, will result in death before the age of 5.

The film begins with the crew traveling from North Argentina in the Province of Misiones to the Brazilian frontier, an agricultural region that was one of the nation's first to begin growing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the mid-'90s.

Featured in the film is Ricardo Rivero, regional head of the local electricity company. He learned that the reason families cannot pay their bills is because often they are taking care of a sick or handicapped child, and receiving no assistance from the Argentinian government.

The film shows them visiting the humble home of a tobacco farmer where they meet Lucas Texeira, a 5-year-old boy with an incurable genetic skin disease. The family believes it was caused by the mother's exposure to Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller early on in her pregnancy. No one told her it was toxic, she says.

The genetic mutation that caused her son's condition left him with no pores in his skin, which means he doesn't perspire. The heat from his body stays inside, causing him severe and painful itching that leads to frequent crying spells. Mr. Texeira expresses his sadness over Lucas' condition, as well as his fears that he could have another child in the future with a similar deformity.

Agrochemicals Lead to Rise in Birth Defects, Deformities

Like many families in rural Argentina, the Texeiras have grown GM tobacco on their land for years, using a number of various agrochemicals required to produce a crop that's certifiable by Philip Morris, an American multinational cigarette and tobacco manufacturing company (a division of Altria Company since 2003).

Philip Morris provides farmers GM burley tobacco seeds for the manufacturer of light tobacco cigarettes. Each year, Argentinian farme...

Why Do Vaccines Keep Failing to Live Up to Their Promises? "IndyWatch Feed Health"

In October 2019, my relatives decided to go on a trip to China in December, and for reasons I can't explain, I began to have a strong feeling something terrible was going to happen there. When they got back shortly before Christmas, however, nothing had happened. I wasn't sure what to make of it until a coworker who spent a lot of time on anonymous message boards asked if they'd gotten "that virus in China."

I looked it up and quickly realized something concerning was happening in China. However, rather than it being mentioned in the media (which always sensationalizes every infectious disease), its (real) danger was being censored, and both the media and the Democrat party were actively attacking anyone who suggested it could be a problem.

At the end of 2019, I had a flash of everything that would happen over the next three years, and my experience since then has been the surreal experience of watching that nightmare manifest into reality and despite my best efforts being powerless to stop it. The best analogy I found for the experience was being a grain of sand near the seashore that was powerless against the ocean's waves that were moving me all over the place.

Similarly, when the much-heralded NEJM study on Pfizer's vaccine came out, after spending thirty minutes going through the study, I saw exactly what was going to happen with the vaccine over the next few years.

I told many of my colleagues, almost all of whom despite the correct but highly unorthodox predictions about the course of the pandemic I'd already provided over the last year thought I was crazy or did not understand vaccinology and did not listen to me. Many have since apologized to me because my predictions (which were heretical then) subsequently came true, and much of the collective hypnosis around the vaccines has broken.

The reason I was able to make these predictions had nothing to do with me being a clairvoyant; rather, they were a result of me using already established principles or precedents and taking them to their logical conclusion. In turn, a lot of my work over the last year and a half has been to try to bring awareness to those principles so the disaster we witnessed over the past three years (and others that preceded it) cannot continue to repeat.

The Lead-up to COVID-19

In 2015, a coordinated campaign kicked off to mandate vaccines across America, initially justified by a small measles outbreak that occurred in California at the end of 2014. No one died, but the media started a hysterical campaign about it, and before long SB277, a bill mandating vaccines in California, was proposed.

It provoked mass political p...

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Interviewed by Bill Maher "IndyWatch Feed Health"

June 26, 2023, Bill Maher, host of the Club Random Podcast, interviewed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 2024 presidential candidate for the Democratic Party (video above).

They discussed the Kennedy familys political history, legacy medias fierce opposition to his bid for the presidency, ideological changes within the Democratic Party, the tragic assassination of his father mere minutes after winning Californias Democratic Primary in 1968,1 and why the claim that vaccines are safe and effective is false.

Regulatory Capture Is a Threat to Public Health

Kennedy highlights the link between regulatory capture by Big Pharma and the lack of vaccine safety studies. He points out that in his career as an environmental lawyer, he spent a great deal of time suing the Environmental Protection Agency over its approval of toxic chemicals, so he was well aware of the kinds of conflicts of interest present.

Thus, when he was dragged into the vaccine safety issue, the realization that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were also compromised by industry came as no great surprise. As he told me when I interviewed him back in March 2023:

I've been an environmental attorney and advocate for 40 years, and I saw the impact of agency capture. That's why I was able to recognize it so easily when I saw it in the pharmaceutical industry. All these agencies are captured. The pharmaceutical industry owns the National Institutes of Health ... CDC, FDA. The coal and oil industry and the pesticide industry own the EPA.

Kennedy also points out the importance of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) of 1986, which granted vaccine makers immunity from liability when children were injured by their vaccines.

This law was passed because vaccine makers admitted vaccines were unavoidably unsafe, and they could not afford to make vaccines if people were allowed to sue them for damages. So, the government created a federal vaccine court to adjudicate these cases and pay out damages.

Importantly, vaccine makers were given blanket immunity no matter how grievous the injury, no matter ho...

Elderberry diet improves gut-brain axis dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and cognitive impairment in a model of irritable bowel syndrome. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Metab Brain Dis. 2023 Jun ;38(5):1555-1572. Epub 2023 Mar 6. PMID: 36877342 Abstract Title:  Elderberry diet improves gut-brain axis dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and cognitive impairment in the rat model of irritable bowel syndrome. Abstract:  Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is related to a problem in the gut-brain axis. This experimental research aimed to shed light on the potential therapeutic application of elderberry (EB), which can work on the axis and get better the IBS symptoms. There were three groups (36 Sprague-Dawley rats) in this experiment, including control, IBS, and IBS with EB diet (IBS+EB). Making use of intracolonic instillation of 1 ml of 4% acetic acid for 30 s, IBS was induced. 7 days later, the EB extract (2%) was added to the diets of all animals for 8 weeks. Some histological, behavioral, and stereological techniques were used to detect the effects of EB on the gut and brain tissues. The findings showed that the EB diet improved locomotion and decreased anxiety-like behavior in the rat models of IBS. Moreover, the diet dropped the expression of TNF-and increased mucosal layer thickness and the number of goblet and mast cells in colon tissue samples. In the hippocampal samples, administration of EB prevented astrogliosis and astrocyte reactivity. Although hippocampal and cortical neurons decreased markedly in the IBS group, EB prevented the drop in the number of neurons. Although lots of research is needed to elucidate the effectiveness of EB in IBS and its exact molecular mechanism, the result of this study showed that EB as an antioxidant and immune-modulatory agent could be a promising research target to prevent the impairment in the gut-brain axis, and could ameliorative classic IBS symptoms.

Are Teslas EV Competitors All Adopting Musks Charging Stations by Force so the Government Can Track All EVs? "IndyWatch Feed Health"

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to announce today that they are adopting Teslas North American Charging Standard (NACS), allowing their Electric Vehicles (EVs) to be charged at Teslas charging stations.

Mercedes joins Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo and Polestar in recent days who have all announced that they are turning to the North American Charging Standard that Tesla has developed.

Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to adopt Teslas North American Charging Standard (NACS). Starting in 2024 Mercedes EVs will gain access to Teslas Supercharger network in North America.

Mercedes joins Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo and Polestar in turning to the North American Charging Standard. This leaves Volkswagen, BMW, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Stellantis and Tatas Jaguar Land Rover as North Americas major automakers not yet offering NACS compatibility. Several states, including Texas and Kentucky, are even mandating charging stations funded with the states cash must use NACS.

As TechCrunchs Tim De Chant wrote, NACS is quickly gaining momentum as automakers rush to offer compatibility to Teslas charging network. (Full article.)

This sudden change in the automotive industry to adopt Teslas charging standard has happened very quickly.

How did the North American electric vehicle market finally decide on a charging port?

Gradually, then suddenly, to paraphrase Ernest Hemingway.

The war isnt over yet, but with Electrify America announcing this week that it would add Teslas North American Charging Standard (NACS) plugs, its close. Electrify Americas decision is particularly important because its both the largest non-Tesla, fast-charging network and because its owned by Volkswagen, a notable holdout.

The shift in momentum was particularly swift. In late 2021, when the government mandated that EV chargers be equipped with CCS to receive federal money, it seemed like Teslas NACS was living on borrowed time. The automaker already sells EVs in Europe with an EU-mandated connector thats similar to North Americas CCS, so it wasnt such a leap to imagine a similar thing happening in the U.S.

But then Tesla cut a slew of deals with competitors. The first of them breathed new life into NACS, and then subsequent deals tipped it toward becoming the...

NYCTrashRobots Heres How Trash Collecting Robots Fared When Set Loose On The Streets Of New York City

At this point, I think its safe to say that AI and robots are part of our collective future, whether were keen on the idea or not.

Theyre eventually going to show up everywhere including public spaces like our neighborhoods.

Scientists and engineers wanted to find out how people would react to finding a robot suddenly doing something inane, like collecting neighborhood trash, and so they set a few loose in the not-always-hospitable streets of New York City.

Myricetin: a potential plant-derived anticancer bioactive compound. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Naunyn Schmiedebergs Arch Pharmacol. 2023 Apr 21. Epub 2023 Apr 21. PMID: 37083713 Abstract Title:  Myricetin: a potential plant-derived anticancer bioactive compound-an updated overview. Abstract:  The globe is currently confronting a global fight against the deadliest cancer sickness. Chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, surgery, and radiation therapy are among cancer treatment options. Still, these treatments can induce patient side effects, including recurrence, multidrug resistance, fever, and weakness. As a result, the scientific community is always working on natural phytochemical substances. Numerous phytochemical compounds, including taxol analogues, vinca alkaloids such as vincristine and vinblastine, and podophyllotoxin analogues, are currently undergoing testing and have shown promising results against a number of the deadliest diseases, as well as considerable advantages due to their safety and low cost. According to research, secondary plant metabolites such as myricetin, a flavonoid in berries, herbs, and walnuts, have emerged as valuable bio-agents for cancer prevention. Myricetin and its derivatives have antiinflammatory, anticancer, apoptosis-inducing, and anticarcinogenic properties and can prevent cancer cell proliferation. Multiple studies have found that myricetin has anticancer characteristics in various malignancies, including colon, breast, prostate, bladder, and pancreatic cancers. Current knowledge of the anticancer effects of myricetin reveals its promise as a potentially bioactive chemical produced from plants for the prevention and treatment of cancer. This review aimed to study the numerous bioactivities, mode of action, and modification of several cellular processes that myricetin possesses to impede the spread of cancer cells. This review also addresses the challenges and future prospects of using myricetin as a anticancer drug.

results revealed the therapeutic efficacy of myricetin in experimental Alzheimer's disease. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Phytomedicine. 2023 Jul ;115:154801. Epub 2023 Apr 6. PMID: 37086707 Abstract Title:  Myricetin improves pathological changes in 3Tg-AD mice by regulating the mitochondria-NLRP3 inflammasome-microglia channel by targeting P38 MAPK signaling pathway. Abstract:  BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease (AD) represents the common neurodegenerative disease featured by the manifestations of cognitive impairment and memory loss. AD could be alleviated with medication and improving quality of life. Clinical treatment of AD is mainly aimed at improving the cognitive function of patients. Donepezil, memantine and galantamine are commonly used drug. But they could only relieve AD, not cure it. Therefore, new treatment strategies focusing on AD pathogenesis are of great significance and value. Myricetin (Myr) is a natural flavonoid extracted from Myrica rubra. And it shows different bioactivities, such as anti-inflammation, antioxidation as well as central nervous system (CNS) activities. Nonetheless, its associated mechanism in treating AD remains unknown.PURPOSE: Here we focused on investigating Myr's effect on treating AD and exploring if its protection on the nervous system activity was associated with specifically inhibiting P38 MAPK signaling pathway while regulating mitochondria-NLRP3 inflammasome-microglia.STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: This work utilized triple transgenic mice (3  Tg-AD) as AD models and Awas used to induce BV2 cells to build an in vitro AD model. Behavioristics, pathology and related inflammatory factors were examined. Molecular mechanisms are investigated by western-blot, immunofluorescence staining, CETSA, molecular docking, network pharmacology.RESULTS: According to our findings, Myr could remarkably improve memory loss, spatial learning ability, Aplaque deposition, neuronal and synaptic damage in 3  Tg-AD mice through specifically inhibiting P38 MAPK pathway activation while restraining microglial hyperactivation. Furthermore, Myr promoted the transformation of microglial phenotype, restored the mitochondrial fission-fusion balance, facilitated mitochondrial biogenesis, and restrained NLRP3 inflammasome activation and neuroinflammation. For the in-vitro experiments, P38 agonist dehydrocorydaline (DHC) was utilized to confirm the key regulatory role of P38 MAPK signaling pathway on the mitochondria-NLRP3 inflammasome-microglia channel.CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed the therapeutic efficacy of Myr in experimental AD, and implied that the associated mechanism is possibly associated with inhibiting tmitochondrial dysfunction, activating NLRP3 inflammasome, and neuroinflammation which was mediated by P38 MAPK pathway. Myr is the drug candidate in AD therapy via targeting P38 MAPK pathway.

Quercetin protects against levetiracetam induced gonadotoxicity. "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

PMID:  Toxicology. 2023 Jun 1 ;491:153518. Epub 2023 Apr 23. PMID: 37098359 Abstract Title:  Quercetin protects against levetiracetam induced gonadotoxicity in rats. Abstract:  The purpose of this study was to determine whether quercetin may counteract the negative effects of levetiracetam on rat reproductive capabilities by examining its influence on a few reproductive parameters following levetiracetam administration. Twenty (20) experimental rats were employed, with five (n = 5) animals per treatment group. Rats in group 1 received saline (10 mL/kg, p.o.) which served as control. Quercetin (20 mg/kg, p.o./day) was given to groups 2 and 4 for 28 days starting from 29 to 56 days, respectively. However, animals in groups 3-4 received LEV (300 mg/kg) once daily for 56 days with a 30-minute break in between treatments. All rats had their serum sex hormone levels, sperm characteristics, testicular antioxidant capability, and levels of oxido-inflammatory/apoptotic mediators evaluated. Additionally, the expression of proteins associated to BTB, autophagy, stress response was examined in rat testes. LEV increased sperm morphological defects and decreased sperm motility, sperm viability, sperm count body weight and testes weight, MDA and 8OHdG levels in the testis of LEV-treated rats were elevated, while antioxidant enzyme expression was concurrently decreased. Additionally, it reduced the levels of serum gonadotropins, testosterone, mitochondrial membrane potential, and cytochrome C liberation into the cytosol from the mitochondria. Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 activity increased. While Bcl-2, Cx-43, Nrf2, HO-1, mTOR, and Atg-7 levels were lowered, NOX-1, TNF-, NF-k, IL-1, and tDFI levels increased. Histopathological scoring provided further support for the decreased spermatogenesis. In contrast to all of these gonadotoxic effects of LEV, improvements in LEV-induced gonadal damage were seen through upregulation of Nrf2/ HO-1, Cx-43/NOX-1, mTOR/Atg-7 expression and attenuation of hypogonadism, poor sperm quality, mitochondria-mediated apoptosis, and oxidative inflammation due to quercetin post-treatment. The modulation of Nrf2/HO-1, /mTOR/Atg-7 and Cx-43/NOX-1 levels and the inhibition of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis and oxido-inflammation in LEV-induced gonadotoxicity in rats suggest that quercetin may hold promise as a possible therapeutic treatment.

Analysts Puts Bitcoin At $125,000 By 2024, How Is This Possible? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Matrixport, a crypto financial services platform, has always been bullish on Bitcoin, especially in 2023. So its latest prediction for the digital asset comes as no surprise to investors. This time around, Matrixport analysts have predicted that the price of BTC will push forward to as high as $125,000 by the end of 2024.

A 310% Increase For Bitcoin?

The current forecast by Matrixport analysts for Bitcoin will see the cryptocurrency rally as high as 310% if it does come to pass. This prediction, however, was not just thrown around without expected catalysts that would trigger such a rally, which is outlined in the report.

For BTC to reach as high as $125,000 by the end of 2024, Matrixport expects that the potential approval of the Bitcoin Spot ETFs filed by investing giants such as BlackRock and Fidelity Investments, among others, could be the push it needs.

2024 is important for these Bitcoin Spot ETF filings because the final date for a decision from the United States Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) is in 2024. This is because the SEC gets three opportunities to postpone its decision, which it likely will. So a decision on whether or not investors will be able to trade a Spot BTC ETF is expected in February 2024 at the latest, as outlined in this Bitcoinist report.

With the potential approval of the BlackRock Bitcoin ETF and other institutional providers, the demand for Bitcoin could continue to support prices into our $45,000 year-end target, Matrixport says in the report. There is no obvious indication of what will drive the next bull market, but the data indicates that Bitcoin could continue to rally into the 2024 halving.

Bitcoin (BTC) price chart from TradingView.com

Multiple Bullish Catalysts For BTC In 2024

As Matrixport mentions in its report, the Bitcoin Spot ETF filings are not the only bullish events that could drive a bull market in 2024. Another important event is the BTC halving event which is less than a year away now. This event will see the block rewards for the blockchain cut down in half from 6.25 BTC per mined block to 3.125 BTC per mined block.

French Cops Can Now Secretly Activate Phone Cameras, Microphones And GPS To Spy On Citizens "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge.

Cops in France have been granted the authority to remotely activate a suspects cellphone camera, microphone, and GPS, after the passage of a provision in a wider justice reform bill on Wednesday night.

The bill allows the geolocation of crime suspects, covering other devices like laptops, cars and connected devices, just as it could be remotely activated to record sound and images of people suspected of terror offences, as well as delinquency and organised crime. Peoples Gazette

According to the French digital rights advocacy group, La Quadrature du Net, the provisions raise serious concerns over infringements of fundamental liberties, and violate the right to security, right to a private life and to private correspondence and the right to come and go freely.

The group called it part of a slide into heavy-handed security.

Lawmakers defended the move  with Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti insisting that the bill would only apply to dozens of cases a year, while members of parliament inserted an amendment that only allows the remote spying when justified by the nature and seriousness of the crime and for a strictly proportional duration after a judge has approved the surveillance.

Lawmakers also insisted that sensitive professions, such as journalists, judges, lawyers, doctors, and MPs would not be legitimate targets, Peoples Gazette reports.

Last month, the Senate gave the green light to the provision of the justice bill, which would allow law enforcement to secretly activate cameras and microphones on a suspects...

Ripple Head Of Policy Calls For UK To Join Global Trend Of CBDC Adoption "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In an interview with the Digital Pound Foundation, Ripple Head of Policy Susan Friedman shared her positive outlook on Londons potential as a crypto hub, highlighting its dedication to developing ecosystems for crypto assets and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).

Ripple Advocates For Encouraging CBDC Ecosystem Development

Friedman noted that Ripples goal is to advocate for global policy frameworks that encourage ecosystem development for crypto assets, including CBDCs.

She expressed excitement for what is happening in the UK, as London and the government have taken a proactive approach to fintech and CBDCs. She cited the work of the Bank of England with the digital pound and the governments consideration of all viewpoints when implementing a CBDC.

According to Friedman, digital currencies and CBDCs are a natural evolution of how individuals and countries exchange value, given that current currencies were created in a less globalized world.

She also believes CBDCs can offer the same protection as fiat and that most countries looking to implement CBDCs are exploring CBDs to solve specific domestic challenges. Ultimately, she believes all countries must develop a strategy to implement CBDCs to efficiently interact with the global market.

Ripples head of policy also sees CBDCs and cryptocurrencies as encouraging financial inclusion, increasing access to financial services for under and unbanked populations, and increasing the speed and efficiency of payments. She believes that digital currencies can also help reduce energy use and environmental resources by reducing the printing of paper money and minting coins.

However, Friedman acknowledged that central banks globally are struggling to encourage this technology while maintaining financial stability and control of their monetary systems. She believes that there can be interoperability between these currencies in a way that maintains financial stability for all countries.

In conclusion, Friedmans positive outlook on Londons potential as a crypto hub reflects Ripples dedication to advocating for global policy frameworks that encourage ecosystem development for crypto assets and CBDCs.

Her insights into the comparable security and protections of CBDCs and their potential to encourage financial inclusion and reduce energy use highlight the benefits of this technology.

As countries worldwide explore the implementation of CBDCs, interoperability and maintaining financial stability will be critical factors to consider.

A Son Died, His Parents Tried to Sue. How U.S. Courts Protect Big Pharma "IndyWatch Feed Health"

From Reuters: Nicholas England, a healthy 22-year-old from Virginia, shot himself in the head in 2017, less than two weeks after he started taking an allergy medicine that had been linked for years to episodes of depression and suicidal thinking.

His parents soon started exploring a lawsuit against Merck, the developer of the blockbuster asthma and allergy drug, Singulair, along with the history of mental-health problems, they said.

The Englands were shocked to learn from legal advisers that they had no case. Like countless other potential plaintiffs, they had run into one of Corporate Americas most effective liability shields: the legal doctrine of preemption, the principle that federal law supersedes state law.

Armed with U.S. Supreme Court rulings on preemption starting in the 1990s, companies increasingly argue that federally regulated products or services should be immune from lawsuits alleging state-law violations. In a new reading of an old constitutional principle, judges have held that federal law, including the decisions of U.S. regulatory agencies, should preempt, or override, state statutes that seek to hold companies accountable for harming consumers.

State laws historically have provided the legal basis for some of the most common lawsuits against U.S. companies alleging injuries, deaths or illnesses caused by negligence or defective products.

These legal dynamics left the England family with no legal remedy at all. A pair of U.S. Supreme Court rulings, in 2011 and 2013, essentially barred lawsuits against generic drugmakers based on state laws that enabled claims over design defects or a failure to warn consumers of potential dangers. The courts reasoning: Such claims were preempted by federal regulations preventing generic drugmakers, when copying name-brand drugs, from changing the formulation or the warning label.

That meant Merck had written the warning label, with federal approval, on the generic couldnt sue Merck, either, because their son had never taken

The emotion of losing your child is so difficult on its own, said Jennifer England, Nicholass mother. It is very frustrating to realize thats a loophole. Im a small person in southwestern Virginia, and thats a loophole there to protect companies much bigger than we could fight.'

The potential use of honey as a neuroprotective agent for the management of neurodegenerative diseases. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Nutrients. 2023 Mar 23 ;15(7). Epub 2023 Mar 23. PMID: 37049399 Abstract Title:  The Potential Use of Honey as a Neuroprotective Agent for the Management of Neurodegenerative Diseases. Abstract:  As the global population ages, there is an increasing research on managing neurodegenerative diseases that mainly affect the elderly. Honey is one of the natural products and functional foods widely studied for its neuroprotective properties. This review investigates honey's effectiveness as a neuroprotective agent through in vitro, in vivo, and clinical research. The articles were browsed from three databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus) between the years of 2012 and 2022 using the keywords "honey" crossed with "neurodegenerative". Out of the 16 articles, six in vitro, eight in vivo, one combination study, and one clinical intervention were compiled. Among the various types of honey studied, the Tualang and Thyme honey exhibited the highest antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticholinesterase activity, leading to the prevention and management of multiple neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. The neuroprotective properties of honey are primarily attributed to its high polyphenol content, with quercetin and gallic acid being the most prominent. This review compiled considerable evidence of the anti-neurodegenerative properties of honey presented by in vitro and in vivo studies. However, more clinical intervention studies are required to support these findings further.
