Analyst Says XRP Will Reach $100, Heres Why "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

XRP, one of the prominent cryptocurrencies in the market, has witnessed a remarkable surge in its daily burn rate, sparking speculation about its potential to go on a bull rally.

Crypto analyst and influencer 24HRSCRYPTO is one of those who have put forward an extremely optimistic outlook for the XRP cryptocurrency. The analyst says that the altcoin, which is currently trading below $1, will reach as high as $100, and has provided reasons.

24HRSCRYPTO unveiled an astonishing increase in XRPs burn rate through a series of tweets that captivated the attention of the XRP community.

The surge in XRPs daily burn rate has been a topic of great interest within the crypto community. Just a month ago, the total supply of XRP stood at 99,988,863,851. However, it has now dropped to 99,988,616,835, indicating a reduction of 247,016 XRP.

With the total supply of XRP decreasing by 247,016 over the course of just 30 days, equivalent to an average of approximately 8,233 XRP burned per day, the stage is set for a potential upward trend that could lead to a significant appreciation in XRPs value.

In comparison to the figures observed in previous months, the recent 247,016 burned XRP represents a significant increase. This development has prompted crypto enthusiasts to question the potential for further growth and whether it could drive XRPs value to unprecedented heights.

The increased burn rate and the subsequent reduction in XRPs su...

Ancient Maya City Discovered Under Jungle Forests in Mexico After 1,000 Years

Mayan City Discovered Under Jungle Forests

Thousands of miles of dense, lush jungle cover much of Central America. The jungle hides many incredible creatures and biodiversity, but it also obscures important human-made structures. Beneath the greenery, hundreds of ruins of buildings built by the ancient Maya and Olmec peoples have been discovered in recent decades using modern technology. The use of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) scanning technology to sweep digital eyes over thousands of acres quickly, these sites emerge from landscape and history. Most recently, Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) has announced the discovery of a 1,000-year-old Mayan city in the Balamk ecological reserve on the Yucatn Peninsula.

The city was discovered with LiDAR in March 2023. The images taken by the technology showed buildings as topography under the jungle cover. Lead archaeologist of the project, Ivan prajc, set about searching through the junglean incredible search covering an area larger than the European country of Luxembourg. On the high ground of a peninsula, the site spans over 123 acres with the remains of large buildings, including pyramid ruins almost 50 feet high. The site also has stairs, plazas, and many stone columns. In honor of this last feature, the team named the site Ocomtn meaning stone column in Yucatec Mayan.

The site dates to the Mayan Classical period, which lasted approximately from 250 to 1,000 CE. During this period,...

On Mexican Baroque "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Carlos Adampol Galindo, Arena Mxico por Carlos Adampol, licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons.

Each time I return to Mexico I find myself marveling at how many elements of daily life there could, in some way, be described as Baroque: our sunsets, our cuisine, our pollution, our corruption. Century after century, the country has exhibited a great tendency towards exuberance, and a natural bent for the strange and the marvelous. Theres a constant play between veiling and unveiling (even in our newscasts, one senses indirect meaning in everything), as well as a fluidity of form, in which excess triumphs, every time, over restraint.

Three hundred years of colonial rule produced an intense syncretism of indigenous and European cultures, a bold new aesthetic accompanied by many new paradoxes, and these can be glimpsed today in both lighter and darker manifestations, some playful and others barbaric.

Mexican Baroque emerged from the conquest of the New World, from the long, fraught process of negotiation and subjugation that began to unfold once the Spaniards established their rule in 1521. The European monarchs wanted as much gold as their conquistadores could plunder, while their missionaries sought to convert the pagan savages to Catholicism. The Aztecs of course had their own gods, a monumental pantheon that included the fierce and formidable Quetzalcoatl and Huitzilopochtli, yet these ancient powers proved no match for colonial rapacity.

There was one pivotal overlap between the two religions, however, a fortuitous convergence which helped ease the transition from the Aztec cosmology to the Catholic faith. And this was the theater of death present in both religions. Accustomed to their own...

Destiny: Connie Zweig, Meeting the Shadow on the Spiritual Path "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

A guide to rekindling spiritual inspiration after betrayal and disillusionment

Explains why we are drawn to charismatic leaders, what we unconsciously give away to them, and how to reclaim our inner spiritual authority

Explores how to recover from spiritual abuse or betrayal by a teacher or group, including breaking free of denial, projection, and dependency using psychology and shadow-work

Extends #MeToo into the spiritual domain and tells the stories of contemporary clergy and spiritual leaders who acted out their shadows in destructive ways, leaving their followers traumatized and lost

Within each of us is a spiritual longing that prompts us to unite with something greater than ourselves, to awaken to our unity with all of life. Yet, no matter the spiritual path we choose, we inevitably encounter our own shadow, those unconscious aspects of ourselves that we suppress or deny, or the shadows of our teachers and their secret desires about money, sex, and power. Meeting the shadow can derail the journey, but, according to Connie Zweig, Ph.D., we can learn to recover from loss of faith and move from spiritual naivete to spiritual maturity.

Calling on us to expand our vision of religious and spiritual lifeand our vision of awakeningto include the human shadow, Zweig examines the yearning that sets us on the spiritual path, showing how it can lead to ecstatic, transcendent experiences or to terrible suffering by projecting it onto an authoritarian teacher, priest, or guru who abuses power. She tells the stories of renowned teachersSufi poet Rumi, Hindu master Ramakrishna, and Christian saint Catherine of Sienawhose lives unfolded as they followed their spiritual yearning. And she tells the cautionary tales of contemporary teachers of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Catholicism, who acted out their shadows in devastating ways, leaving their followers traumatized and lost. She explains how meeting the shadow is a painful but inevitable stage on the path to a more mature spirituality. She describes how to use spiritual shadow-work to separate from abusive teachers, reclaim inner spiritual authority, and heal from betrayal.

With guidance for both inspired and disillusioned seekers, the author explores how to navigate the narrow path through the darkness toward the light, rekindle the flame of longing, and once again engage in fulfilling spiritual practice.

Connie Zweig, Ph.D., a retired psychotherapist and former executive editor at Jeremy P. Tarcher Publishing, is coauthor of Meeting the Shadow and Romancing the Shadow and author of the bestseller The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul and a novel, A Moth to the Flame: The Life of the Sufi Poet Rumi. She has been practicing and teaching meditation for more than 50 years.

AAVE Records 26% Weekly Gain, Looks To Break Key Resistance "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

AAVE, one of the most prominent DeFi tokens, has made a bright start to July. The coin is experiencing a price rally, jumping by more than 26% in the past week. Overall, the AAVE market seems to be enjoying much attention as shown by recent high whale activity

AAVE Aims For $90 Again Price Action

AAVE has been on a positive run in the past few weeks. Since reaching a yearly low of $50 in mid-June, the token has been on a bullish course, which has seen its value rise by over 53%.

Related Reading: Lido (LDO) Sustains Weekly Run With 16% Gain What Fuels It?

It is worth noting that the price of AAVE declined for a few days after touching the $75 mark on June 26. This fall caused the token to shed most of its price gain at the time. However, the DeFi token appears to have fully recovered from this loss, with its yearly high of $91.73 now in sight.

According to historical price data, there seems to be resistance at the $80 price zone. So the AAVE token would need to overcome this barrier in order to make its way to $90 again. If the coin fails to break this threshold, it could experience a slight retracement to find support at the $70 price level.

CoinGecko data shows that AAVE currently trades at $75.81, losing more than 2% of its value in the past 24 hours. This signals a waning buying pressure, which could hamper the tokens chance of breaking the $80 resistance zone.

Influencer Shares Secret Hack for How She Gets Perfect Selfies by Screenshotting

Woman taking selfie with greenery background

Taking the perfect selfie is not as easy as it may seem. While some experiment with filters or editing, an influencer named Liliana Madrigal has shared her secret to get amazing self-portraits. Her tip to get the best selfies? Taking a screenshot instead of an actual photo when using the front-facing camera on your iPhone.

After getting many compliments and questions about her selfies, Madrigal decided to reveal how she does it in a now-viral TikTok. I always get asked how I take my selfies so Im going to show you because I do not [use the camera], she says at the beginning of the clip.

In the video, Madrigal proceeds to take a regular selfie, but strongly dislikes the result. Ugh! The quality always comes out so bad, she exclaims. She then gives it another shot, but takes a different approach. Rather than going for the shutter, she presses the buttons on the side. What I do is I pose and instead of tapping [the camera button] to take the picture, I screenshot, Madrigal says.

Comparing the results, the influencer prefers the second one. I just like how it comes out way better because the lighting is such a difference, she says. And I dont know why our phones do this but this [screenshotting] is the way around it. As a final touch, she makes sure to crop the borders of the screenshotand voil, the perfect selfie is ready to be posted.

Some users shared that they get a similar effect from taking a video and taking a screenshot from there. Others have used the occasion to critique the iPhone's picture quality. On the other hand, some voiced their dislike at how detailed actual pictures are. As a result,...

And the woman who wrote this story on Reddits Am I the A**hole? page asked readers if she went too far when she refused to participate in her boyfriends familys Thanksgiving tradition.

Take a look at what she had to say and see what you think.

When we arrived there were several men sitting in the living room watching football. My bf introduced me to his brother, BIL, uncles and some cousins. His dad was was also there.

There is a cooler in the middle of the room and my bf grabs a beer and sits down to watch the game.

His mom and sister come in to say hi and his mom says perfect timing! We are just getting going in the kitchen! Come on lets get you a drink!

Zilliqa (ZIL) Notches 10% In Anticipation Of Network Upgrade "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The ZIL token has seen a jump in its price over the last day in anticipation of the latest Zilliqa network upgrade. According to data by CoinMarketCap, ZIL has now gained 10.13% in the last 24 hours, emerging as the top gainer of the day.

Zilliqa Network Upgrade Now Underway

According to a tweet by Zilliqas official Twitter handle, its mainnet network upgrade v9.2 has commenced today, July 5, as scheduled.  This network upgrade is expected to introduce vital improvements to the Zilliqa network, most notably increased interoperability between the Scilla the platforms customized smart contract language and the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

Related Reading: Stablecoins Volume Down Despite Crypto Market Recovery, Ratings Agency Finds

Furthermore, the upgrade will look to augment Zilliqas security and functionality by extending support for third-party EVM contracts and implementing full backward compatibility with all existing Scilla (v0.13.3) contracts.

That said, as the Zilliqa network upgrade got closer, its native token, ZIL, has experienced significant buying pressure in the last few days.

Most notably, in the early hours of today, ZIL gained by 11% moving from $0.0222 to hit a price of $0.0247 for the first time since the first week of June. Following that price gain, the ZIL token witnessed a slight price loss finding support at the $0.0237 price level and has since remained in that price zone.

At the time of writing, Zilliqa (ZIL) is exchanging hands at $0.238, with a 0.10% decrease in the last hour. However, the tokens daily trading volume is up by 189.83% and is valued at $83 million. With a total market cap value of $377 million, Zilliqa is ranked as the 93rd biggest cryptocurrency.

Zilliqas Price Analysis

Looking at ZILs hourly chart, the Relative Strength Index shows the token is descending from the overbought zone indicating the bullish run may be over.

Furthermore, Ziliqas Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is just about crossing the signal line, meaning a potential incoming bearish run is on the horizon.

According to chart data, ZIL appears to have encountered a resistance zone at the $0.0250 price mark. If the bulls are able to increase the buying pressure and push ZIL past this barrier, the token is expected to resume its upward price trajectory.

Bitcoin Humpback Wallets Reach ATH, Is BlackRock Behind The Surge? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

A recent development has caught the attention of on-chain analysts and Bitcoin enthusiasts alike. On-chain expert Axel Adler Jr, citing data from CryptoQuant, has revealed that wallets belonging to the Humpback cohort, have reached a new all-time high (ATH).

This surge has raised speculation about the involvement of institutional giants such as BlackRock or Fidelity. Remarkably, not only humpback but also shrimps are currently displaying a historical high conviction.

The Phenomenon Of Bitcoin Humpback Wallets

The term Humpback refers to a specific cohort of wallets within the cryptocurrency ecosystem that hold an impressive amount of Bitcoin, surpassing the 5,000 BTC mark. The recent surge in these wallets reaching an ATH indicates a significant level of accumulation and activity within the crypto market.

According to Axel Adler Jr, The number of wallets in the Humpback cohort with a balance of over 5,000 BTC has shown a new ATH. Is this BlackRock, Fidelity, or other giants? The mystery surrounding the identity of these major players has piqued curiosity and speculation about their motivations and impact on the market.

Bitcoin humpback whales

From the on-chain data alone, it is not possible to determine which entity commenced the accumulation of BTC. However, the temporal connection with the ETF applications is striking. Regardless of the actual entity, a whale accumulation can be interpreted as a positive sign for the price. In this vein, expert Will Clemente recently stated:

Even if Blackrock/Fidelity refile and the ETFs still get rejected by Gary, the cat is out of the bag institutions want your Bitcoin and are looking to get a piece of this market.

When you want to install a new app on your computer, where do you get it from?

Deciding which source to use is a problem that's surprisingly difficult to solve, but it's one that every computing platform struggles with.

Before the internet was widespread, new software packages were distributed on hard media, like CDs or Core, for example, you'd need to buy it physically at the store or have it mailed to you. You'd then load the disk or USB stick into your computer, and make a copy of the new software onto your local disk.

As a developer writing code, you'd have to physically hand out copies of your programs to friends and family. Or you'd work for a large corporation that had relationships with companies and computer stores, which would figure out how to get the software you wrote distributed to their clients and customers.

With the advent of always-connected computers, the landscape of software distribution forever changed. Now, instead of having to physically pick up a copy of the bits in a program, you can easily download a copy of it from the internet.

This made it much easier for new developers to write apps that anyone can download. The problem now, however, is answering the question: Where on the internet should users download the new software from?

The Hacker's App Store

The way that mobile phone ecosystems solve the problem of new application distribution is through a program on your phone called the "App Store" (or the "Google Play store" on Android).

Developers upload the latest copy of their apps to either Apple's or Google's servers. Those companies then send out a silent notification to all of the phones that have the app installed, and the app gets updated in the background on users' phones, without the users involvement.

If you're a user and you want to add a new app to your phone, in most cases you'll be able to find it in the App Store, and download it from there.

But not all software is available as a mobile phone app. Some software projects are desktop apps or tools that developers use to write new pieces of software. These applications need a distribution channel too. On desktop operating systems, we tend to call the "App Store" software by the term "package managers." They manage the packages of software that you download onto your computer.

Modern package managers consist of a central server, sometimes the app, and a client-side application which runs on the package user's computer.

If you're a developer, you've probably run into homebrew or...

Lido (LDO), a prominent player in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space, has emerged as a frontrunner in the rapidly expanding Liquidity Staking Derivatives (LSD) sector.

Amidst the turbulence caused by the highly controversial lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June, the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector has found itself in a state of uncertainty and caution.

According to data from the token tracker site Token Unlocks,  4.54 million APT tokens, valued at $36.94 million, are scheduled to be released on July 12. This upcoming token release will account for 2.17% of the total circulating supply.

For investors familiar with the APT market, this is quite normal, as the Aptos Network is programmed to unlock new tokens on the 12th of each month.

These tokens are released to the Aptos Foundation as well as its user community to support ecosystem projects, provide grants, and push other community growth initiatives.

However, while APT is currently gaining, the effects of token release on the market are unpredictable, as seen in previous times. In January, APT witnessed a jump of over 50% following the scheduled unlock but fell by 13% in February after the same event occurred.

Following the launch of the Aptos Mainnet in October 2022, the total supply of APT tokens stood at 1 billion. Of this amount, data from Token Unlocks shows that 166.35 million APT tokens have been unlocked so far, representing only 17% of the total supply.

APT Price Analysis

On Saturday, October 19, 2022, the Aptos (APT) token made an impressive debut in the crypto market, reaching a market price of $100.

However, this was followed by a sharp downturn as the price plunged to the $3.5 level. Over the next three months, APT gradually recovered and climbed to the $20.00 price zone, where it was resisted.

Since then, the token has experienced an overall bearish trend losing over 58% of its value to date.

Aptos

Looking at the APT hourly chart, the tokens current price movement suggests it has encountered a resistance zone at the price level of $8.33.

If APT is able to break through this barrier, it will continue its bullish momentum and possibly trade as high as $8.82, which appears to be the next resistance zone.

A 3D Animation Reveals What Paris Looked Like When It Was a Roman Town "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The standard tour of Paris feels like a journey back through time: the Eiffel Tower stands for the eighteen-eighties, the Arc de Triomphe for the turn of the nineteenth century, Les Invalides for the turn of the eighteenth century, Notre-Dame for the mid-fourteenth century, Sainte-Chapelle for the mid-thirteenth century, and so on. But of course, this is much too simple a way of seeing it, since so many of Frances historical landmarks have been repeatedly expanded, renovated, or modified over the centuries. (The Louvre, for example, boggles the mind with not just its sheer scale, but also the span of eras embodied by its construction.)

Paris history also goes much deeper than many tourists imagine. To discover it, they must go deeper in a literal sense, down into the Crypte Archeologique de lle de la Cit. Conveniently located right next to Notre-Dame, this underground museum contains artifacts of the city as it was 2,000 years ago, when it was a relatively modest Gallo-Roman town called Lutetia, or in French, Lutce.

Stablecoins Volume Down Despite Crypto Market Recovery, Ratings Agency Finds "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Stablecoins, the digital assets designed to maintain a stable value, have long been viewed as a potential bridge between the cryptocurrency world and the traditional financial industry. However, recent developments have cast a shadow of uncertainty over their perceived stability.

As global policymakers continue to grapple with concerns about the crypto sectors impact on the established financial system, a surprising twist occurred when stress in the US banking industry reverberated throughout the stablecoin market.

According to Fitch Ratings, the tightening of financial conditions, culminating in the high-profile failures of several banks, notably including the collapse of the esteemed Silicon Valley Bank, had a profound impact on stablecoins.

Stablecoins: Market Shakeup

For instance, Fitch Ratings reports that the market capitalization of USD Coin (USDC), a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar at a 1:1 ratio, experienced a sharp decline of over 25% in the first quarter. Although the coins value remains depressed, Fitch noted that it managed to recover its peg soon after.

According to data from The Block, the total supply of stablecoins has decreased from $138 billion at the beginning of the year to $124 billion as of July 3. This decline in supply further underscores the challenges faced by stablecoins and their struggle to maintain stability amidst market turbulence.

Significant volatility, shaken investor confidence, and temporary but sharp de-pegging occurred in the stablecoin market in March as shockwaves spread from traditional finance, Fitch wrote.

Tether Bucks Trend

In contrast to USDC, Tether, another prominent stablecoin, observed a 12% increase in its market capitalization during the same period. Notably, Tether captured approximately 72% of USDCs redemption volume, indicating a growing preference for Tether among investors.

Despite Tethers positive performance, the top 10 stablecoins...

How Much of What You See Is Actually a Hallucination?: An Animated TED-Ed Lesson "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

All of us have, at one time or another, been accused of not seeing whats right in front of us. But as a close examination of our biological visual system reveals, none of us can see whats right in front of us. Our eyes have blind spots where the optic nerve blocks part of the retina, says the narrator of the new animated TED-Ed video above. When the visual cortex processes light into coherent images, it fills in these blind spots with information from the surrounding area. Occasionally we might notice a glitch, but most of the time, were none the wiser. This absence of genuine information in the very center of our vision has long circulated in the standard set of fascinating facts.

Whats less well known is that these same neurological processes have made the blind see or rather, theyve induced in the blind an experience subjectively indistinguishable from seeing. Its just that the things they see dont exist in reality.

Whats Next For Bitcoin Price? Bulls Arent Running Out Of Steam Yet "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

After Bitcoin reached a new yearly high at $31,413, the buy side has so far failed to initiate a trend-following move north. Although the bulls fended off a sell-off last Friday in the wake of the SECs perceived concerns over a Bitcoin spot ETF approval, the momentum seems to be increasingly flattening, or isnt it?

Whats Next For The Bitcoin Price?

As the market awaits an approval from the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), investors are seemingly exercising caution. While open interest in the Bitcoin futures market continues to rise, activity in the spot market has recently declined.

This shift indicates that price action in recent days has been primarily influenced by futures traders. Analyst @52Skew noted on Twitter, $BTC Spot CVDs & Delta: Quite a bit of spot still being dumped on the market + no limit chasing today from coinbase buyers. Spot bid liquidity $30.5K.

This observation underscores the reluctance of investors in the spot market who may be waiting for a decisive move by the SEC. However, it should be noted that US markets were closed yesterday for the 4th of July holiday. Most recently, huge spot buying volume came from Coinbase, pushing the market up. So today will be interesting to watch if yesterdays retracement is bought today by US investors.

Bitcoin dominance, which had risen to resistance at 52.15%, has now consolidated somewhat, dropping to 51.25%. This consolidation, combined with the entry of investors into the altcoin sector, reinforces the prevailing wait-and-see attitude among investors.

Analyzing the Bitcoin price, it is clear that the market is currently facing strong resistance in the $31,300 to $31,416 range. The support area at $30,700 is currently proving to be a critical mark to watch. Holding above this support could give buyers the opportunity to launch a renewed offense.

Optimism (OP), a prominent Layer 2 network, is experiencing a noticeable decline in network activity as the hype surrounding meme coins takes a dip. Once bustling with vibrant transactions and a fervent community, Optimism now faces a subdued atmosphere as users shift their attention away from these speculative assets.

The decrease in meme coin fervor has had a direct impact on the overall engagement within the Optimism network, prompting questions about its long-term viability and adaptability in an ever-changing crypto landscape.

Can the Layer 2 network adapt to evolving market trends and sustain its relevance in the face of shifting investor preferences?

Declining OP Price And Network Activity Raise Concerns

The price of OP on CoinGecko is currently at $1.29, indicating a 4.3% decline in the past 24 hours. However, despite this recent downturn, the coin has managed to sustain a seven-day rally of 1.5%, suggesting potential resilience and market support.

Nevertheless, Optimism, the Layer 2 network housing decentralized exchanges (DEXes), has witnessed a significant decrease in daily on-chain transaction volume, leading to a concerning 59% decline over the past week.

A new OP price report reveals a decline in network activity on the OP Mainnet since mid-June. The number of unique wallet addresses involved in daily on-chain transactions has exhibited a downward trend during this period.

Is He a Jerk for Buying Pets for His Kids Without His Ex Wifes Approval?

Being split up with someone and having kids requires a lot of patience and a lot of compromise.

And, if youve ever had to spend time in that situation, you know that feelings can be hurt easily and things can get UGLY.

But is this guy an a**hole for getting pets for his kids without the approval of his ex?

Check out his story and see what you think.

AITA for buying my kids pets without the approval of my ex?

Im divorced (6years) and remarried (2years). I have two sons with my ex, 11m and 13m.

My wife has one son, 9m. My kids mom lives less than a mile away. Its close enough for the kids to walk over, but far enough to be separate space. My boys move back and forth between their moms and my house usually once a week. Were flexible especially during the summer because of travel, kid activities, etc. My wifes son lives with us full time.

My wife and I have been talking with the kids about getting a pet that they would personally be responsible for at our house. This has been going on since December and we told the kids we would pull the trigger on the pets when all of our summer travel was done.

Since then, the kids have been excited about the prospect of having their own pets. We asked them to research their chosen pet, determine what its needs were and what kind of common health problems that kind of pet could have and how to avoid them. The kids all presented their reports and did an a...

Uh ohthat doesnt sound too good, does it?

In fact, it sounds like theres some major drama going on here.

Lets get all the facts below so we can see what the heck is going on here.

AITA for not changing my cats name?

So I recently adopted a wonderful sweetie of a shelter cat named Millie. Thats the name that the shelter gave her, I thought it it suited her and she responds to it, so I didnt change it.

The other week, my pregnant cousin Carrie (who Im moderately close to) posted a list of potential baby names on her social media and Millie was on the list. I commented to remind her of my cats name, and she DMed me to ask me to change Millies name because she and her fianc really liked that name for their daughter.

I refused because my cat had her name first, and Carrie called me selfish for valuing a stupid cat over her daughter. I told her that my cat is not stupid, and that I wouldnt mind if her baby shared a name with my cat, but if it was an issue for her, she could choose a different name. She again called me selfish and said she had to go.

I was feeling a bit conflicted, so I went to my sister (a mother herself so I hoped shed offer some perspective) and she said that she understands where I was coming from, but that babies should come before pets. She said that it would be really kind of me to change my cats name, and that she knows how important a couples dream...

On July Fourth, Remember Why Economic Liberty Matters for America "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by Samuel Gregg , Ive often thought there is something providential about the Declaration of Independence being drafted and promulgated throughout the American Colonies the same year that Adam Smiths book The Wealth of Nations was published. After all, both texts were revolutionary, and both were fundamentally concerned with protecting and promoting liberty. The Declaration of Independence was very much concerned with political liberty, while The Wealth of Nations was focused on economic freedom. But, as was well understood at the time, economic liberty and political freedom not only reinforce each other; the absence of one tends to weaken the other. Its not coincidental, for example, that the declaration lists several ways the Continental Congress believed Britain had violated the colonists economic liberties.
Most of us know about the charge of taxation without representation. But we should remember that the declaration also accused King George III and the British Parliament of cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world. Here, the declaration refers to what were known as the Coercive Acts, one of which was the Boston Port Act. Passed by the British Parliament on March 31, 1774, this measure closed Boston Harbor to imports and forbade exports following the Boston Tea Party in 1773. That famous event responded to the British Parliaments effort to provide the East India Co. with tax privileges that made it harder for colonial importers in the competition to bring tea to the colonies. Its important to recognize that American colonists already were trading extensively through the world by the 1760s. Moreover, they were doing so far beyond the confines of Britains extensive world empire. Rather than being economically closed to the rest of the world, America...

U.S. Ruling Gives Sackler Family, Owners Of Purdue Pharma, Immunity From Opioid Lawsuits "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by  Dr. Rath Health Foundation,

The Sackler family, the wealthy owners of Purdue Pharma, will be shielded from future lawsuits related to the opioid epidemic under a plan approved by a U.S. federal appeals court.

Purdue Pharma, an American drug company, is seen by many observers as having been largely responsible for the rise of the devastating opioid drug crisis in the United States. After introducing OxyContin, a powerful opioid painkiller, in 1996, the company proceeded to market it aggressively claiming that it was supposedly less addictive, less subject to abuse, and less likely to cause narcotic side effects. Seduced by Purdue Pharmas deceptive marketing, American doctors subsequently wrote huge numbers of prescriptions for the drug. Tragically, between 1999 and 2020, around 263,000 Americans are believed to have lost their lives as a result of overdoses related to prescription opioid drugs. Court filings suggest members of the notorious Sackler family, who own Purdue Pharma, directed efforts to mislead doctors and patients about the dangers of OxyContin. Now, however, in exchange for $6 billion that will apparently go towards funding treatments for addiction, the Sacklers have been given immunity from future opioid epidemic-related lawsuits. This will still reportedly leave them with a collective fortune worth billions. Not surprisingly, therefore, the outcome has left a sour taste in the mouths of many, with campaigners continuing to call for criminal charges to be brought against the family. With Americas deadly opioid epidemic showing no sign of abating, senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders recently called for the U.S. Senate to hold drug companies to account. In a letter sent to senator Lamar Alexander, chairman of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, Sanders requested a hearing focusing on the role of pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors in precipitatin...

How People Change: Psychoanalyst Allen Wheelis on the Essence of Freedom and the Two Elements of Self-Transcendence "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

We create ourselves. The sequence is suffering, insight, will, action, change.

How People Change: Psychoanalyst Allen Wheelis on the Essence of Freedom and the Two Elements of Self-Transcendence

All that you touch you Change. All that you Change Changes you. The only lasting truth is Change, Octavia Butler wrote in her poetic insistence that God is Change. And yet, dragged by the momentum of our lives, we ossify into identities and habit-loops, harder and harder to reconfigure, more and more haunted by the paradox of personal transformation. If we are not careful enough, not courageous enough, we may cease believing that change is possible, thus relinquishing the deepest meaning of faith and of freedom; we may forget what Virginia Woolf well knew: that a self that goes on changing is a self that goes on living.

How to remember this redemptive truth and live it is what the psychoanalyst Allen Wheelis (October 23, 1915June 14, 2007) explores in his 1973 book How People Change (public library) a field guide to navigating the landscape of the psyche when the theories with which we have mapped the soul dont help.

Wheelis captures the universal undertow of our aching longing for change:

Sometimes we suffer desperately, would do anything, try anything, but are lost, see no way. We cast about, distract ourselves, search, but find no connection between the misery we feel and the way we live. The pain comes from nowhere, gives no clue. We are bored, nothing has meaning; we become depressed. What to do? How to live? Something is wrong but we cannot imagine another way to live which would free us.

Photography, like other forms of visual art, has a variety of effects that allow you to express your creativity. One of the most popular is called bokeh. This effect refers to the aesthetic quality of the out-of-focus areas of an image, most commonly in the form of circles that dot a composition.

One of the easiest ways to imagine bokeh is by seeing city lights from far away. In the distance, they look fuzzy, like baubles of brightness. But the elements in the foreground are sharp and in focus. This juxtaposition is an eye-pleasing one and makes a scene feel cozy.

Now that you have a brief introduction to the bokeh effect, learn about its different types and how to achieve it in your photography.

Frederick Douglasss Fiery 1852 Speech, The Meaning of July 4th for the Negro, Read by James Earl Jones "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Every year on this day, Frederick Douglasss fiery, uncompromising 1852 speech, The Meaning of July 4th for the Negro, gets a new hearing, and takes on added resonance in the context of contemporary politics. It has never ceased to speak directly to those for whom the celebrations can seem like a hollow mockery of freedom and independence. The American holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independencenext to the Constitution, the U.S.A.s most cherished founding document, and a text, for all its rhetorical elegance, which cannot escape the irony that it was written by a slaveholder for an emerging slave nation.

Slavery had always been a contentious subject among the colonists. And yet the American Revolution was a war waged for the full freedom and enfranchisement of only a very few white men of property. Not only were black people excluded from the nations freedoms, but so too were conquered Native American nations, and in great part, poor white men and women who could not votethough they were not chained in perpetual servitude as human chattel, with little hope of liberty for themselves or their descendants.

Watch a Japanese Artisan Transform a Block of Wood Into a Traditional Japanese Noh Mask "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Watch a Japanese Artisan Transform a Block of Wood Into a Traditional Japanese Noh Mask

Traditional Noh Mask Making

Noh is a traditional Japanese theater art with a legacy that continues today. This form of classical dance-drama has been performed since the 14th century and is still regularly practiced today. It's often based on stories in traditional literature and involves the supernatural, with masks as an integral part of the performance. These wooden masks are artworks in their own right, and artisans work to craft, and ultimately transform, them into characters. Now, a fascinating documentary reveals the involved process that artisan Mitsue Nakamura goes through to carve and paint each mask.

Nakamura begins with a block of Japanese cypress and uses cutting tools to form it into the masks rough shape. She then refines and smooths its surface inch by inch, breaking and chiseling the wood to form a nose, lips, and eyes. Its a meticulous process that involves constant refinement until the mask is smooth and ready to be painted.

With the wood carving complete, Nakamura applies coating and lacquers to the Noh mask, continuing the tradition by mixing a concoction that contains seashell powder and rice glue. Afterward, she hand-blends pigments and takes care to blacken the teeth. This practice is known as ohaguro, a custom that existed since the Heian period in the 8th century.

You don't need to see the process to know that Noh masks are incredible. But watching Nakamuraone of a growing number of female artisanswork with such skill and care is awe-inspiring.

Solar Chimneys for Cooling and Generation of Electricity "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

Solar chimneys harness the power of the sun to generate electricity and provide natural ventilation and are proving to be an effective way to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

The basic principle behind solar chimneys is the greenhouse effect, where solar radiation is trapped and converted into heat and this heat is used to create an updraft, or a flow of air that rises through the chimney. As the warm air rises, it creates a vacuum at the base of the chimney, which draws in cooler air from the surrounding environment. This natural ventilation process helps to regulate the temperature inside the building and reduces the need for air conditioning and heating systems. By incorporating a turbine at the base of the chimney, the updraft created by the heated air can also be harnessed to generate power.

One of the most notable examples of a solar chimney in action is the Manzanares Solar Chimney in Spain, which was built in the 1980s as a prototype for large-scale solar power generation. The 195-meter-tall tower was equipped with a turbine that generated electricity from the updraft created by the heated air.

Solar chimneys are also being integrated in...

Ideal Road Trip Route Thatll Get You 70-Degree Weather Year-Round

Happy Couple drives a convertible on a road trip

Some people prefer the long, warm days of summer; others revel in a crisp fall night. Either way, most people can agree that mild weather is the most comfortableyou're not sweating but you're not shivering either. With all the varied ecosystems that make up the United States, it sounds like a daydream to get good weather year-round without leaving the country. Or is it? Climatologist Brian Brettschneider has conceived of a year-long cross-country road trip where it's always a comfortable 70F.

Brettschneider first designed the road trip map in 2015. The original version only featured a single route starting in Brownsville, Texas, on January 1, before heading northeast to be in Washington, D.C., by May and then winding around from the north to lay low in Colorado for the summer. The triumphant final stop was in San Diego on December 31. I have been contacted numerous times over the years since from people who want to bike or drive the trip. It has resonated with people in a way I never imagined, he wrote on his blog.

The first map was map was based on the 19812010 climate normals produced by the National Center for Environmental Information (NCEI). As the 19912020 normals were released by NCEI in May 2021, Brettschneider set out to update his map. Not only did he have some very interesting findings, but he also added more routes to the map. He created both interior and coastal routes, and even designed a map with a road trip route that includes Alaska and Canada.

It might surprise people that as fast as the glo...

18th-Century Book Invites You To Marvel at 570 Varieties of Marble in Stunning Detail

The Book of Marble

Marble has a long place in history. From sculptures to architecture, it has been seen throughout timeoften as a white material with a subtle swirl throughout. But there's a lot more to marble than that. Marmor Soorten, or The Book of Marble, offers a striking look at the different types that exist throughout the world. First published by Dutch naturalist Jan Christiaan Sepp in 1776, this catalog features 570 varieties as depicted through scientific illustrations and annotations. The tome was a large undertaking to produce; The Book of Marble was released in 11 volumes and required 100 color plates to print.

Now, Taschen is bringing this Enlightenment-era book back to life. The renowned publisher has printed the original text in its entirety, paying homage to a time when the pursuit of learning across 18th-century Europe was growing in popularity.

Taschen is adding one element to the book that wasn't in the original. The reprint features new photography to showcase the intricacies of marble samples. Together with hand-colored plates that are arranged with painstaking precision, there's an artistic bend to the scientific book. The samples look like small vignettes of abstract art alongside an encyclopedic knowledge of marble.

The Book of Marble is now available to order through...

Today I am Death "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

As mentioned, my task for this morning was murdering spiders. Mission accomplished, and now I feel terrible.

It was a simple procedure. I put the vials of happy gamboling spiders into the refrigerator to calm them down and numb them I gave them about 15 minutes of chill. Then I went into each vial with a paintbrush and teased them out, and they descended into a tube of icy, pre-cooled alcohol, where they died within minutes. Now their bodies are packed into a freezer, awaiting delivery to the person who will chop them up.

The worst part was going through the assortment of spiders in the colony and having to choose which ones would die.

You have to understand that this was the very first time Ive had to kill an adult spider. Ive been wiping out embryos right and left, and Ive had adults die of natural causes but actually terminating their existence by my hand? Unpleasant. I like my spiders lively and interesting. Im a biologist, not a necrologist.

Its only just over a minute long long but it makes for gripping, essential viewing.

Had us punching the air by the end of that, absolutely brilliantly done, ruthlessly exposing Sunak for exactly who he is.

And that wasnt all, Bryant comparing and contrasting Sunaks reluctance to basically give a substantial opinion about basically anything with his willingness to comment on the England cricket team.

Abandoned Materials Are Upcycled Into Charming Bug Sculptures

Upcycled Sculptures of Bugs by Mark Oliver

Abandoned materials find new life in Mark Olivers charming sculptures. The UK-based artist upcycles everything from scrap metal to playing cards, carefully assembling different parts together until he creates amazing figurines that resemble fantastical insects.

This ongoing series, titled Litter Bugs, features collage sculptures of various shapes and sizes. Oliver credits his father's collection of electrical and engineering components for inspiring his interest in layering different elements together. Urban entomology is my post-modern bow of respect to the Victorian tradition of insect collecting, where the decaying and disposed ofthe litter of modernityis assembled to create an illusory collage, he tells My Modern Met. I intend the work to fascinate from a distance, and reveal humor and beautiful art upon closer inspection.

While random on their own, these foraged parts work harmoniously together to depict a fictional insect. Not only that but by assembling these scraps into new works of art, Oliver is returning litter to nature. My work creatively employs these inorganic found' items to mimic delicate, organic forms, which (if genuine) might, themselves, employ the instinct of mimicry or disguise, he adds. Litter Bugs have been exhibited internationally and in various galleries across the UK.

You can purchase available art via Oliver's online shop, and keep up to date with his latest work by following him on Instagram.

XRP, Cardano Among Altcoins To Keep An Eye On: Santiment "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

<p>Data from Santiment shows XRP and Cardano, among other altcoins, may be the ones worth keeping an eye on in the coming days.</p> <h2>Social Dominance Of Altcoins Like XRP & Cardano Has Remained Low Recently

According to data from the analytics firm Santiment, Bitcoin is seeing the greatest attention in the market right now, while some of the alts arent being talked about that much. The indicator of interest here is <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/altcoin/internet-computer-icp-social-dominance-hits-top-in/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">social dominance</a>, to understand which the social volume needs to be looked at first.</p> <p>The <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/altcoin/xrp-ethereum-increased-social-talk-bitcoin-loses-interest/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">social volume</a> is a metric that measures the total amount of unique social media posts/threads that are making mentions of a given asset or term. By unique, whats meant here is that the indicator only counts these posts once regardless of how many times they mention the term (obviously, as long as they make at least one mention).</p> <p>If the metric counted the pure number of mentions instead, then a thread with a large number of mentions could raise the count by itself, even if mentions may be low everywhere else on social media. Thus, to obtain a more accurate representation of the trend in the wider market, the social volume only considers unique posts.</p> <p>Now, social dominance is an indicator that compares the social volume of a given cryptocurrency with the combined social volume of the top 100 assets (by market cap) in the sector.</p> <p>Here is a chart that shows the trend in the social dominance of the five largest coins in the market: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB (BNB), XRP (XRP), and Cardano (ADA):<img alt= "XRP, Cardano Social Dominance" class="alignnone aligncenter" height="1802" src= "https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F0ItSimaMAYJnBt?format=jpg&name=4096x4096" width="2836"></p> <p>As displayed in the above graph, the social dominance of Bitcoin has been high since the rally started around the start of the year. The asset has been leading the price surge in these last few months, so its not particularly surprising that the interest in the cryptocurrency has been elevated during this period.</p> <p>Discussions around BTC on social media had been dropping slightly last month when FUD had been going around in the market, but with the <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/bitcoin-news/bitcoin-sharks-whales-strong-buying-rally-continue-july/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">latest leg in the rally</a> above the $30,000 level, interest has once again spiked in the coin.</p> <p>While this has happe...

Give Your Phone a Seat With One of These Quirky Phone Holders

Unique Phone Stands

Most of us are used to carrying our phones in our hands or in our pockets at most hours of the day, but sometimes it's nice to give your device a place to sit. At My Modern Met Store, we carry a selection of unique smartphone holders that are as helpful as they are decorative. This way you can watch videos, scroll, and read while being hands-free.

The Bird Beechwood Phone Stand, for instance, is a minimalistic helper that has been cleverly carved so that the swoop of the bird's tail will hold any phone or tablet at a slight angle. Simply prop your device on the back of the birdy and enjoy browsing or streaming without worrying about your tech falling over.

If you want your phone stand to have a more humorous touch, Artori Design has you covered. Their playful phone holders feature silhouettes of people who are just as attached to their devices as we are. For example, Chatty Patty, features a black silhouette of a female figure who is sitting down and talking on the phone. She kicks her feet up to make sure your phone stays standing up. This way, you can continue using your device with greater ease.

Scroll down to see more phone stands, and head over to My Modern Met Store when you're ready to check out.

Go hands-free with one of these nifty phone stands.

Navigating Emotional Manipulation: Understanding and Combating Gaslighting in Relationships "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Creating and maintaining a strong, healthy romantic relationship requires a tremendous amount of work, patience, and mutual understanding. It involves continuously building trust and ensuring both partners are respected. Nevertheless, there are instances when these relationships can transform into toxic environments, often due to manipulative tactics such as gaslighting.

Gaslighting, a troubling psychological phenomenon, typically involves one or both partners using deceptive phrases during everyday conversations or disagreements, gradually turning the relationship toxic. As gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse, awareness is paramount.

Understanding the Many Facets of Abuse

Abuse is not only physical harm. It can take several forms, including emotional, verbal, mental, and financial. Recognizing the different forms of abuse is crucial, especially since gaslighting falls under the umbrella of emotional abuse. Gaslighting can deeply affect an individuals mental health, self-esteem, and overall well-being, leading to long-lasting negative impacts. Its therefore crucial to understand the signs of gaslighting in order to protect your mental well-being.

Gaslighting: The Insidious Art of Psychological Manipulation

Gaslighting is an emotional abuse tactic where the abuser deliberately causes the victim to question their own sanity or perception of events. The manipulator often accomplishes this through denial, shifting blame, or making the victim feel responsible for the manipulators actions. This systematic dismantling of a victims self-confidence can result in significant emotional and psychological damage.

Methods of Gaslighting

Gaslighting can wreak havoc in a relationship, causing severe emotional turmoil. The manipulator uses gaslighting phrases to alter the narrative, casting themselves as harmless or blameless. These phrases are often wielded as tools to exert control, with the abuser using various manipulation techniques, such as countering, stonewalling, diverting/blocking, denial/intentional forgetting, and trivializing.

Solana (SOL) Price Targets 40% Rally Amid Strong Fundamentals "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Solana (SOL) price is currently at a crucial turning point, which will be of decisive importance for the coming weeks. If the SOL bulls manage to leap above the currently most important resistance, a rally of up to 40% could be on the cards. If the bulls lose the upper hand, another plunge of up to 21% could be imminent.

Crucial Moment For The SOL Price

An analysis of the 1-day chart using Fibonacci retracements shows that the SOL price is at a pivotal point for the coming weeks. At the time of writing, SOL was trading at $19.19, just below the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level. So far, SOL bulls have failed to break above this level at $19.72.

If successful, the price level above $21, at which SOL was trading before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) classification of the Solana token was announced, would again be within reach. A bit further up, the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) awaits the SOL price at $22.05 an indicator often described as a bull line that SOL investors have been unable to break above since April 2022.

In this bullish scenario, the 200-day EMA can be considered as the second most important challenge for SOL bulls. An upside break could allow the price to rise to the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at $27.00, which also marked the year-to-date high, potentially marking a 40% rally. At this level at the latest, a preliminary pause in the rally is to be expected.

In a bearish case, SOL fails to capture the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level. In this case, a drop towards $15.30 is conceivable, which would represent a price loss of around 21%.

Data shows 63,060% increase in CHILD DEATHS since rollout of Pfizers COVID-19 jab for children in Europe "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A recent analysis by EuroMOMO, an organization entrusted with official statistical data from European countries, revealed that there was a direct correlation between the approval of Pfizers Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine for kids and a surge in excess deaths among children. It showed a staggering 63,060 percent surge in excess deaths among children aged zero to 14 by the 22nd week of 2023 from when the vaccine had been given emergency use authorization (EUA) by drug regulator European Medicines Agency (EMA). The data covers 26 out of the 44 countries in Europe. A report by independent news outlet Expose provided a chart that covered the period from January 3 to March 27, 2022, and concluded a total number of SARS-CoV-2 cases categorized by vaccination status and age group in England. The data, extracted from the U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Week 5, (page 43), Week 9 (page 41) and Week 13 (page 41) COVID-19 Vaccine Surveillance report painted a vivid picture of the disconcerting reality, reported Expose. Another revealing chart indicated the case rates per 100,000 people, also segregated by vaccination status and age group in the country. The chart showed an alarming disparity, with case rates skyrocketing among the triple-vaccinated population in every age group. During week 21 of 2021, EMA extended the EUA of Pfizers COVID-19 vaccine, first to children aged 12 to 15 and later to the five to 11 age group. From then on, a shocking rise in excess deaths among children was observed. Between weeks 22...

Thats right, the Berlin State Prosecutors office is pursuing its criminal investigation of me for allegedly disseminating propaganda, the content of which is intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization, which according to Germanys Grundgesetz could send me to prison for up to three years. My attorney wrote to them and politely explained how ridiculous their investigation is and why they should summarily drop the charges, but New Normal Germany has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to Thoughtcrime, especially Thoughtcrime involving any kind of Covid-denying propaganda. How Should We Regulate the Sun (Since Our Government Regulates Nearly Everything Else)? "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

This article was originally published by Connor Mortell at The Mises Institute.

When we think of solar power, we picture a field or a roof full of glass panels churning out electricity. However, this is just a more recent development in channeling the suns energy. Most histories of solar power will begin with stories regarding the use of magnifying glasses and mirrors to make fire. From the first to fourth centuries, the Romans began including large south-facing windows in their famous bathhouses, optimizing the heat energy the sun provided to heat the buildings.

Now They Are Actually Working On A Plan To Block Out The Sun

However, this led to an interesting development. In the sixth century, not only bathhouses but also many Roman houses and public buildings trended toward having a sunroom. As such, the Justinian Code actually enshrined sun rights so that each individual would be guaranteed access to the sun. Once the government enshrines access to the sun as a right, it is easy to compare sun rights to Murray Rothbards hypothetical governments right to shoes:

The libertarian who wants to replace government by private enterprises in the above areas is thus treated in the same way as he would be if the government had, for various reasons, been supplying shoes as a tax-financed monopoly from time immemorial. If the government and only the government had a monopoly of the shoe manufacturing and retailing business, how would most of the public treat the libertarian who now came along to advocate that the government get out of the shoe business and throw it open to private enterprise? He would undoubtedly be treated as follows: people would cry, How could you? You are opposed to the public, and to poor people, wearing shoes! And who would supply shoes to the public if the government got out of the business? Tell us that! Be constructive! Its easy to be negative and smart-alecky about government; but tell us who would supply shoes? Which people? How many shoe stores would be available in each city and town? How would the shoe firms be capitalized? How many brands would there be? What material would they use? What lasts? What would be the pricing arrangements for shoes? Wouldnt regulation of the shoe industry be needed to see to it that the product is sound? And who would supply the poor with shoes? Suppose a poor person didnt have the money to buy...

Coinbase Stock Soars Nearly 12% As BlackRock Reveals Surveillance Partnership "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Coinbase, a prominent United States cryptocurrency exchange, has recently witnessed an upswing in its COIN share prices. This surge comes on the heels of the worlds largest asset manager, BlackRock, choosing Coinbase as a surveillance partner for its re-filed Bitcoin ETF application.

In the limelight of this crypto-mainstream finance crossover, Coinbases shares have soared by a nearly 12% over the past day.

Renewed BlackRock Application Spurs Coinbase Growth

Nasdaq disclosed on July 3 that BlackRock, the eminent entity in worldwide asset management, had updated its proposal for a spot Bitcoin ETF, incorporating new specifics about a surveillance-sharing agreement with Coinbase.

This news triggered a bullish response in the market, and Coinbase shares skyrocketed, marking a significant day in the crypto market landscape. The details in the application outline an agreement between Nasdaq and Coinbase forged last month.

The pact, intended to supplement the exchanges market surveillance program, provides Nasdaq access to spot BTC trade data. The report revealed that should BlackRocks Bitcoin ETF gain approval, Nasdaq expects to leverage the data obtained from Coinbase in surveilling the trading.

Notably, the regulatory landscape around cryptocurrencies in the US remains a hotbed of speculation and anticipation. While the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has granted approval to a number of futures-based ETFs, a spot-based one, physically backed by the asset as opposed to CME contracts, has not yet been given the green light.

Refiled applications for multiple companies looking to launch spot BTC funds emerged last week, facilitated by Cboe. This includes Fidelity, WisdomTree, VanEck, and Invesco, all of which have listed Coinbase as a surveillance-sharing partner, further amplifying Coinbases critical role in the process.

How Ordinal Inscriptions Will Drive Adoption Of Bitcoins Lightning Network "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Jesse Shrader, the co-founder and CEO of Amboss, a Lightning Network explorer and analytics tool.

For years, you could basically only do two things on the Bitcoin network: You could save BTC or you could spend it. Then, a late 2021 privacy upgrade had the unintended consequence of allowing data storage on the Bitcoin blockchain, resulting in NFT-like inscriptions and BRC-20 tokens, both applying Ordinal Theory for asset tracking.

The popularity of NFT-like Ordinal inscriptions and the experimental BRC-20 token standard has driven up transaction costs across the Bitcoin network. The frothy demand for stamping limited block space with new data pushed transaction costs so high that in May 2023, Binance twice had to pause BTC withdrawals, a risky and undesirable step for a global exchange. To help manage the transaction costs, Binance announced it would start using the Lightning Network a decentralized, Layer 2 network designed for fast transactions bypassing the underlying Bitcoin blockchain to process BTC withdrawals.

While some argue that Bitcoin should stick to being digital gold, I dont see it that way.

As a store of value, bitcoin will continue to provide a trustless alternative to central banking; other uses of its immutable blockchain dont diminish this function. On the contrary, emergent uses of the Bitcoin blockchain will drive more efficient use of the limited block space, leading to broad adoption of Lightning Network as a scaling solution for bitcoin as a global currency. The Lightning Networks growth will provide a trustless alternative to centralized payment processors, expanding Bitcoins utility.

Challenges Faced By BRC-20 Tokens

The BRC-20 token standard is extremely new created in March 2023. If its name sounds familiar, thats because its somewhat akin to ERC-20 tokens such as Shiba Inu and MakerDAO that run atop the Ethereum network. Whereas Bitcoin has traditionally been about storing and transmitting value, BRC-20s allow for other assets to be minted in an Ordinal inscription. Now, a slew of BRC-20s have popped up for trading and speculation, many in the form of meme tokens, from...

USDC Circulating Supply Down 38% Since Jan. 1 Will It Affect Price? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

USDC experienced a notable decrease in its circulating supply during the weekend, causing ripples of concern within the cryptocurrency market. According to data from CoinGecko, the stablecoins circulating supply dwindled by over 2%, falling from $27.9 billion on June 30 to $27.3 billion in less than 48 hours.

This sudden drop has intensified existing worries regarding the stability and long-term viability of stablecoins in the volatile world of cryptocurrencies. Since the beginning of the year, the total supply of USDC has exhibited a downward trajectory, plunging by a staggering 38%.

This continuous decline raises questions about the underlying factors contributing to the diminishing supply of USDC and its potential impact on the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Declining Circulating Supply And Its Impact On USDCs Price

The decrease in USDCs circulating supply can have significant implications for its price and overall value. As the supply of a stablecoin decreases, its scarcity may result in increased demand from investors and traders. If the demand for USDC remains steady or rises, the reduced supply could potentially push its price higher, following the basic principles of supply and demand economics.

However, this effect may not be linear, as other factors such as market sentiment, regulatory developments, and the overall performance of the broader cryptocurrency market can also influence USDCs price movements.

Market Perception And Trust Concerns

The declining circulating supply of USDC might also trigger questions regarding the underlying reasons behind the reduction. Investors and users may question the transparency and credibility of the stablecoins issuer or the overall health of its backing reserves.

Any perceived lack of clarity or uncertainty could lead to reduced trust in USDC, causing some participants to seek alternative stablecoin options or ev...

Rough-Hewn Deities Rise from the Streets of Vietnam in Kumkum Fernandos Growing World of Futuristic Figures "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Three figurative sculptures made of geometric shapes that appear worn and robotic

Koha, Manike the Maniac, and Lomba. All images Kumkum Fernando, shared with permission

At once totemic and automaton-like, the deities built in Studio REBORN in Saigon are bound by mystique. The characters are scions of the Vietnamese city, emerging from doors, windows, tabletops, and abandoned architecture that Kumkum Fernando collects, cleans, and repurposes as figurative sculptures. While the found materials may have lost their original paint or patterns, the artist faithfully honors this history, often recreating motifs and color palettes reflected on the final forms.

Born in Sri Lanka to an antique collector, Fernando incorporates this background into his pieces, both through the act of scouring construction sites, resale shops, and streetside trash bins for wood and other items used in his practice and through adornment. Many of his sculptures include elements of folkloric tales and temple paintings that infuse the pieces with a spiritual, mythical quality and reference Sri Lankan culture.

Fernandos latest body of work abandons the sleek, boldly vibrant forms of recent years to instead focus on a gritty, post-apocalyptic narrative. I started out by making notebooks and toy cars using old Vietnamese building parts before transitioning to glossy figurative pieces, he tells Colossal of his evolution. I began to miss the textures and colors I used to work with. Thats when I decided to go back and incorporate aspects I loved from the beginning into this series.

On view now at Jonathan Levine Projects, the characters of Post Colonial Rainbow Punks are intergalactic swashbucklerspart gangsters, part mythical beings.&#8221...

Is it just me, or has customer service gotten significantly worse over the past few years since we all went through the horrors of Covid?

You know Im right about this one!

And with Covid came a lot of changes in how we shop at stores, some good and some bad. And it seems like some people arent too crazy about self-checkout.

The guy who posted the video youre about to see on TikTok seemed to be pretty miffed about the lack of open registers at a Walmart store and he decided to talk to an employee about it.

Pharma CEO, Others Attempt Contradictory Critiques of Serotonin-Debunking Study "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Last summer, a thorough analysis struck what Psychology Today called a decisive blow to the chemical imbalance myth of depression. That outdated theorythat a lack of serotonin causes depressionhas been debunked many times over the past few decades, but it clings to the public consciousness, perhaps largely due to pharmaceutical industry propaganda and media oversimplification. Indeed, prominent psychiatrists have even claimed that the serotonin theory is promoted by an anti-psychiatry conspiracy.

Given that position, one might think that psychiatry would welcome a large review of the evidence on the topicthe largest and most comprehensive ever conductedputting the supposed anti-psychiatry propaganda to rest. Instead, the reaction from psychiatry has been vitriolic against the authors.

Now, researchers who have staked their financial future on the serotonin theory have joined together to attempt a debunking of that study. The only problem? Their concerns are extremely technical, contradictory, and in some cases, outright false, according to the original study authors. None of them provide solid or consistent evidence for serotonins role in depression.

Indeed, the minor, paradoxical gripes by various critics, including a pharma CEO, illuminate a picture of industry-funded researchers clinging to a poorly supported, controversial, and outdated theory that is nevertheless likely to help their marketing of new drugs.

Responding to the criticism, the authors of the original study write of the serotonin theory, No one believes it, but no one wants to let it go, either.

The critics, and a response by the original authors of the serotonin-debunking study, were published in Molecular Psychiatry.

The authors of the original paper were Joanna Moncrieff, Ruth E. Cooper, Tom Stockmann, Simone Amendola, Michael P. Hengartner, Martin Plderl, and Mark A. Horowitz.

Stravinskys Illegal Arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner (1944) "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In 1939, Igor Stravinsky emigrated to the United States, first arriving in New York City, before settling in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he delivered the Charles Eliot Norton lectures at Harvard during the 1939-40 academic year. While living in Boston, the composer conducted the Boston Symphony and, on one famous occasion, he decided to conduct his own arrangement of the The Star-Spangled Banner, which he made out a desire to do my bit in these grievous times toward fostering and preserving the spirit of patriotism in this country. The date was January, 1944. And he was, of course, referring to Americas role in World War II.

As you might expect, Stravinskys version on The Star-Spangled Banner wasnt entirely conventional, seeing that it added a dominant seventh chord to the arrangement. And the Boston police, not exactly an organization with avant-garde sensibilities, issued Stravinsky a warning, claiming there was a law against tampering with the national anthem. (They were misreading the statute.) Grudgingly, Stravinsky pulled it from the bill.

PEPE Breaches Local Highs With 20% Leap In Surprise Comeback "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

PEPE has recently made a stunning comeback by surpassing its local highs with a remarkable 20% weekly surge. This unexpected turn of events have provided some relief to investors who thought the frog-themed coin will never be able to get back on its feet again.

What has propelled this sudden comeback, and what does it signify for the future of this meme coin?

PEPE Maintains Bullish Pace As Open Interest Rises

PEPE, currently priced at $0.00000185 according to CoinGecko, has recently experienced a remarkable surge in its value. Over the course of 24 hours, the asset witnessed a notable rally of 16%, and within the span of just seven days, it soared by an impressive 20%.

Upon analyzing the OI (Open Interest) chart from Coinglass, it becomes evident that the surge in PEPE prices was accompanied by a simultaneous increase in Open Interest. This indicates that speculators in the Futures market were not only convinced of a bullish move but were also willing to bid on the asset, expressing their confidence in its potential.

Furthermore, a PEPE price report revealed that the Relative Strength Index (RSI) displayed bullish momentum. Prior to the rally, PEPE came close to testing the 50% retracement level at $0.00000135.

This observation suggests that the asset is likely to approach and potentially...

Bullish On Bitcoin And Crypto: Why A Major Recession Crash Is Not Coming "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In the world of financial markets, Bitcoin and crypto, fear and uncertainty often dominate the headlines. Over the past few months, there has been growing speculation about an impending recession and the possibility of a major crash in risk assets. Theses such as Bitcoin will rise to $40,000 and then crash are currently in abundance.

While the majority of analysts expect a recessionary crash, with the timing being hotly disputed, macro analyst Alex Krueger presents a compelling case for why such fears may be unfounded. In his research report, Krger debunks prevalent bearish theses and sheds light on why he remains bullish on risk assets, including Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Debunking Bearish Theses For Risk Assets Like Bitcoin

According to Krger, the upcoming recession, if any, has been one of the most widely anticipated in history. This anticipation has led to market participants and economic actors preparing themselves, thereby reducing the probability and potential magnitude of the recession. As Krger astutely points out, What truly matters is not if data comes in positive or negative, but if data comes in better or worse than what is priced in.

One flawed notion often associated with recessions is the belief that risk assets must bottom out when a recession occurs. Krger highlights the limited sample size of US recessions and provides a counterexample from Germany, where the DAX has reached all-time highs despite the country being in a recession. This serves as a reminder that the relationship between recessions and risk assets is not as straightforward as some might assume.

Valuations, another key aspect of market analysis, can be subjective and dependent on various factors. The analyst emphasizes that biases in data and timeframe selection can significantly impact valuations. While some metrics might suggest overvaluation, Krger suggests looking closer at fair pricing indicators, such as the forward price-to-earnings ratio for the S&P 500 ex FAANG. By taking a nuanced approach, investors can gain a more accurate understanding of the market landscape.

Furthermore, the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) presents a revolutionary opportunity. Krger highlights...

When Doctors Have Different Standards of Evidence for the Virus and the Vaccine "IndyWatch Feed Health"

817,000 thousand Americans had already died of COVID by December 23, 2021, and 244,000 more would die the next year. Millions more survived, but were injured. These numbers could have been lower if doctors not become defense attorneys for SARSCoV2 and prosecutors against the vaccine, and instead applied similar standards of evidence to both.

Truck Driver Cameras Privacy A Female Truck Driver Said Her Workplace Installed Cameras in Her Truck That Stay on When She Changes Clothes

Being a trucker is not one of those jobs that I would think could be micromanaged on some levels, but this story has me thinking a little bit differently.

A female truck driver shared a video on TikTok where she talked about how her employers installed surveillance measures that no employee should have to endure.

As she puts it

I used to love this company because I knew that they have my best interest at heart. However, that completely changed and went out the window when they installed cameras into our trucks.

Now she seems to be pretty p**sed off about it, because the cameras are only supposed to be on for a short period of time after the truck shuts down.
