Vincent van Goghs Life Illustrated in His Imaginative Style of Swirling Colors "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Vincent van Goghs Life Illustrated in His Imaginative Style of Swirling Colors

Comic Illustration About Vincent Van Gogh

Few artists have a style that is as instantly recognizable as Vincent van Goghs iconic aesthetic. With his vibrant color palette and expressive, swirling brushstrokes, it's almost impossible to confuse the Dutch painter's art for another's work. Cartoonist and illustrator Alireza Karimi Moghaddam honors Van Gogh's legacy by creating enchanting illustrations inspired by his art and life.

Over the years, this series has gone through many transformations. Some of Moghaddam's illustrations offer a straightforward depiction of the Post-Impressionist's life, such as going on long walks in the countryside with his art supplies or painting yellow sunflowers. Others, however, are much more fantastical, where Van Gogh's paintings are coming to life with flying crows and swirling blue skies.

Following Van Gogh's life to the letter is not Moghaddam's aim. Instead, he wants to explore the artist's personality, interests, and why he painted such moving landscapes. I do believe that Van Gogh was in love with life, Moghaddam says. He loved people and this love is vivid in his artworks. Van Gogh and I have a deep friendship in my imagination. While the real Van illustrations is idealized, where he is happy and content with life.

As a teenager, cartoonist and illustrator Alireza Karimi Moghaddam fell in love with Vincent van Goghs work and was compelled by his story.

Bitcoin Holders Expect Retrace, Will BTC Move Against Crowd Once Again? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Data shows bearish sentiment has spiked among Bitcoin holders, something that could actually work in the favor of the assets price.

Social Media Users Have Turned Bearish On Bitcoin

As explained by the analytics firm Santiment, traders have come into the new week expecting the price of the cryptocurrency to retrace towards the $27,000 to $29,000 range.

The relevant indicator here is the social volume, which measures the total number of social media text documents that are making mentions of a specific term or topic.

Related Reading: Bitcoin Long-Term Holder Supply Stagnates At ATH, What Does This Mean?

The text documents here refer to posts/threads sourced from various popular social media platforms like Reddit, Telegram, and Twitter.

Something to keep in mind is that the metric only measures the unique number of such documents, meaning that regardless of whether a post mentions the term one time or five times, the contribution towards the social volume will still remain one unit.

This indicator helps us gauge the amount of discussion that a topic is receiving across social media right now. It can also be used to measure the market sentiment if some specific terms are applied.

To separate the Bitcoin discussions related to positive and negative sentiments, Santiment has taken the total social volume related to the cryptocurrency market and has then filtered it using terms like buy, bottom, and bullish for the former, and sell, top, and bearish for the latter.

Here is a chart that shows the trend in the social volume of these terms over the past week or so:

Bitcoin Social Volume

As displayed in the above graph, the social volume related to negative sentiment has spiked recently. The positive sentiment, on the other hand, has remained at low values.

This would suggest that the majority of the Bitcoin traders on social media are bearish on the asset and are expecting it to register a drawdown in the near future.

Historically, BTC has tended to show price moves in the direction that the average investor isnt expecting. The more heavily the crowd leans toward any particular side, the more the probability of such a reverse price mo...

Illustrated Map of Medicine Reveals All the Fields Dedicated to Taking Care of Our Health "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Illustrated Map of Medicine Reveals All the Fields Dedicated to Taking Care of Our Health

Domain of Science's illustrated map of medicine

Understanding and learning about the many fields of medicine can be daunting, even for those somewhat familiar with it. Knowing that a good conceptual map can help anyone studying a particular subject, physicist Dominic Walliman of Domain of Science set out to make an illustrated map of medicine that is as welcoming as it is thorough.

A passionate scientist, Walliman has created a series of maps and videos of different areas of human knowledge to help others grasp these subjects as a primer on what exists and what might pique their curiosity for further studying. Medicine has always been interesting to me as I'm not very familiar with it, but it is such an important part of our society, he tells My Modern Met. So I thought it'd be a good one to map out to see everything on one page.

Wallans maps usually take him about one or two months, but his Map of Medicine took four months to complete. He describes it as a mammoth project. Researching, drawing, and then finalizing the graphic design took a long while, but Walliman is really proud of the result. I'm still learning what works well and developing my style, he admits. I think this Map of Medicine is my best work yet.

The layout highlights the connections between fields, as...

A New Book Celebrates the Exquisite Patterns and Glowing Colors of Glass Maestro Lino Tagliapietra "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

An abstract glass sculpture but Lino Tagliapietra.

All images Lino Tagliapietra, courtesy of Phaidon, shared with permission

Recognized for his elegant, detailed sculptures that coax light and color from the interior of glass, Lino Tagliapietra is one of the most sought-after artists in the medium. Renowned for his technical skill and experimental approach, vibrant patterns float in abstract vessels, suggestive of graceful, viscous motion. Lino Tagliapietra: Sculptor in Glass, a new book published by Phaidon, chronicles the story of the artist, from apprentice to maestro to one of the foremost glassblowers in the world, surveying his extensive career with hundreds of photographs of his captivating, luminous compositions.

Hailing originally from Murano, an island in Venice famous for glassblowing traditions that can be traced back to the 13th century, Tagliapietra was distinguished as a Muranese maestro when he was only 21 years old. A highly sought-after accolade assigned to those who lead the piazza, or the workshop, maestros bear the secrets of the precise chemical compositions and are responsible for the final shaping of pieces.

During his seven-decade career, Tagliapietra developed a signature style, incorporating long, elegant necks and vibrant murrineor glass canes that are cut into cross-sections to reveal patterns. In 197...

Robinhood To Lay Off 7% of Full-Time Staff In Latest Restructuring "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Approximately 150 employees of trading firm Robinhood Markets are slated to lose their jobs, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Monday. This decision, which constitutes the third round of job cuts happened within a span of slightly over a year.

This was stated in an internal communication by the firms chief financial officer, Jason Warnick, and it was attributed to the need for adjustments of team structures. The 150 employees from its workforce constitute around 7% of its total staff.

A Robinhood spokesperson stated:

Were ensuring operational excellence in how we work together on an ongoing basis. In some cases, this may mean teams make changes based on volume, workload, org design, and more.

Robinhood has experienced a noticeable decline in trading activity, especially within the crypto sector. In May, the company reported a significant 30% year-on-year decrease in crypto trading revenue.

Related Reading: Chainlink Bulls Must Defend Support Zone To Prepare For Another Rally

Robinhoods decline in performance could be further impacted by its decision to delist various cryptocurrencies, including Solana and Cardano.

The delistings come in the wake of the United States Securities and Exchange Commissions legal actions against prominent exchanges Coinbase and Binance. This layoff report also comes after Robinhoods recent acquisition of credit card firm X1 in a deal worth $95 million.

Third Round Of Workforce Reductions At Robinhood

Last year, Robinhood implemented workforce reductions, reducing its headcount by 9% in April. Subsequently, in August, they conducted another round of layoffs, resulting in a significant 23% reduction of the remaining staff. These measures collectively led to a loss of over 1,000 employees for the company.

During its peak in the second quarter of 2021, Robinhood witnessed remarkable success with 21.3 million active users and revenue surpassing $565 million. However, recent times have been challenging for the brokerage firm.

The Q1 2023 results indicate a significant downturn, with a 44% decline in monthly active users and a 30% year-over-year decrease in revenue for Robinhood.

Robinhood is not the only company undergoing the effects of a less active crypto market though. Lower trading volumes across the industry have resulted in reduced profits for companies involved in facilitating crypto trades.

Companies such as Robinhood, whose revenue is heavily dependent on trading volumes are always trying to adapt to the evolving market dynamics. This is to ensure the sustainab...

Why are the Rockefellers and the Jesuits guiding the UFO Disclosure Movement? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Rockefellers, the Jesuits, and the channelers can vouch for us. Were your benevolent space brothers. The Rockefellers: Founders of the Disclosure Movement Last week, I came across a video titled Stephen Bassett E.T. Disclosure Conference 2014, and I couldnt help but notice the reaction counters below it. If they are correct, the information in the video was uncritically accepted by the sites visitors, and I found that quite troubling. No one paused to think of who might be behind the information being presented or of how it might fit in with the globalists transition plan. This being the case, I decided to do a little investigating so I could show everyone whats really going on with Disclosure. To begin, lets look at what Bassett says at the 3:54 mark of the video The Truth Embargo, which I casually refer to, was a massive program in which billions upon billions of dollars were spent not only to keep the research secret, to keep the finances secret, and to keep the media under control, and the philanthropists out of the picture, and the universities pretty much out of the picture To the casual viewer, his mention of the philanthropists might sail by unnoticed, but if youve researched how the disclosure movement got started, you know he is actually referring to one specific philanthropist: the true father of the Disclosure Movement, Laurance Rockefeller rockefeller This is a portion of an article on the Open Minds: UFO News and Investigations website which was written by Antonio Huneeus. Huneeus has a long history in the Disclosure Movement, has worked with Rockefeller, and testified to Rockefellers involvement in the Movement at the Citizen Hearing on UFO Disclosure ...

Ethereum Classic (ETC) Soars 22% In One Week, Is $20 Possible? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum Classic (ETC) bulls have been active over the past week, bullishly pushing the tokens price with significant gains in the last seven days. An over 22% seven-day price increase saw ETC smash the $15.79 resistance level to $18.74 at press time.

Bullish signals point to more rallies for Ethereum Classic as the global market cap rallies, gradually propelling Bitcoin toward the $31,000 mark. The token could be charging up momentum to conquer the $20 mark in the coming days.

Ethereum Classics Price Swings

Ethereum Classic (ETC) launched in July 2016 as a hard fork of Ethereum that supports decentralized applications (DApps). The main aim of Ethereum Classics launch is to preserve the Ethereum blockchains originality. Earlier in June, ETCs price retraced from its key support level of $18.25. It plunged into a bearish swing that caused severe losses for the token.

Related Reading: XRP Traders Show Capitulation, Why This Could Be Bullish

ETCs price rapidly nosedived from over $18 on June 4 to less than $15 in mid-June. The token traded sideways between June 10 and June 20 before shooting up to $19.17 on June 24, with an over 27% price increase.

Fortunately, ETC recovered momentum after several days of bearish movement. And Ethereum Classic was among the coins that benefited from the buzz generated by multiple Bitcoin ETF filings by leading US-based asset managers.

The token shows bullish signs as the market slightly rebounded today after a brief correction in the last 24 hours. As of the time of writing, ETC trades at $18.74, with a 24-hour price increase of 2.52% and a 22.89% seven-day growth in value.

ETCUSD price chart

Can Ethereum Classic Bulls Defend The Ongoing Rally?

Buyers took charge of the market between June 23 and 24. The increasing buying pressure pushed the trading volume from $151.66 million to over $500 million on June 24.

Though there was a pullback, another uptick in trading volume is noticeable, with a 43.29% increase in the last 24 hours. This suggests the bulls are determined to claim the $20 level and could achieve the target if the uptick in trading volume continues.

Ethereum Classics key support level currently stands at $18.42 on its TradingView daily chart. The bulls are working with the $19.44 resistance level in mind. But the ETC price may shoot above $20 once the bulls successfully push the token off the $19.44 resistance.

The cryptocurrency market outlook shows recovery signs as most coins trade in the gre...

Propaganda and Mind Control "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

From Robert Malone: Tony Robbins is the most successful life and results coach in the world. Why? Because he gets results. His system is based primarily on neurolinguistic programing, (NLP) combined with leadership training and immersive seminars (1). There is that word again. Neuro-linguistic programming. What the heck is it and why does it matter? Common NLP techniques include :
  • Anchoring: Associating an external or internal trigger with a healthier response until it becomes automatic
  • Belief changing: Replacing negative thoughts or beliefs that prevent the client from achieving their desires
  • Reframing: Putting a situation in a different context to elicit an adaptive reaction instead of following the same maladaptive behavioral patterns
  • Visualization: Forming a mental image of something the client wants
  • Visual-kinesthetic dissociation: Guiding the client in reliving trauma by evoking an imaginative out-of-body experience
Mirroring, modeling, image training, incantations and repetition are also common techniques. NLP is considered a useful set of tools for behavioral therapies - including drug addiction, over eating, cessation of smoking, etc. Particularly when combined with conversational hypnosis. Conversational Hypnosis is a set of techniques used to make the receiver of information more open to accepting and acting upon suggestions. Although Wiki and others label NLP as a pseudo-science, the public and long a list of peer reviewed publications disagree. For instance, The BMJ has a series of articles specifically citing many successes using this approach as a...

Things Are Brewing In Prague "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Joakim Book, a research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research and contributor to HumanProgress.org and the Mises Institute.

The first thing that met attendees when entering the venue at BTC Pragues inaugural conference was the smell: a strong, new-rubber-type of scent that permeated most of the main stage area. The second was the light or the absence thereof: it was dark, with massive screens at regular intervals and neon lights shining elegantly across the ceiling.

What likely remains etched into participants memories is the dim, purple haze and those comfy, white VIP sofas in the front (paying up for VIP tickets has its perks!). A large BTC logo and slowly bobbing lamps hanging above the panelists on the main stage brought a spooky, somewhat nauseous feel like the whole stage was slowly twirling. As if I werent already lightheaded from my travels, endless conversations and lack of sleep that I wholeheartedly blame on the many pre-, side- and after-events going on in Pragues thriving nightlife.

As I took it all in, I pulled out my notepad and scribbled, The techno raves of my teenage years called and want their ambience back.

For the first few sessions of all three days, it was empty in the main hall. Eerie, even. Where is everybody?

Meandering Paths

The expo hall seemed to be where most of the cool kids hung out; the rest perhaps basking in the morning sun along the river in downtown Prague.

Littered with hundreds of Bitcoin companies and thousands of participants, the expo hall was dominated by a two-story centerpiece booth occupied by SatoshiLabs, the conferences organizer. It reached out, symbolically, into the four corners of the space with each section dedicated to its four business brands, one of which, Vexl Foundations KYC-free, peer-to-peer bitcoin app, launched during the conference. Around it, lining the edges of the football-field-sized hall were miners, hardware wallet makers, a dozen or so different backup-on-steel products, book publishers and plenty of merch and consumables. There were so many booths hidden behind something else, in fact, that after several walkthroughs I still found new companies or conference booths I hadnt noticed before. I live and breathe the Bitcoin space and yet I didnt know half of these companies or their products: Bitcoiners truly are prolific, new products and companies popping up like mushrooms after the rain (to anglicize a Czech saying).

ETHBTC Just Hit A 300-Day Low. What To Expect Next "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

While crypto traders have been emboldened by Bitcoins impressive rally, especially in light of the SECs recent lawsuits against major crypto exchanges Binance and Coinbase, one key trading pair has nevertheless suffered as a result. Ethereum/Bitcoin (ETHBTC), the widely watched trading pair which combines the crypto markets number two coin with its number one coin by market cap, just closed at a 300-day low. Why is this happening and whats happened in the past after similarly weak periods for ETHBTC? Lets take a closer look at the price history to find out.

Bitcoins Dominance Explodes Higher

Just a few weeks ago, ETHBTC closed at a multi-week high and looked poised to move higher, but the recent surge in Bitcoin Dominance caused ETHBTC to hit a 300-day low, just shy of a new 52-week low.

The popular Dominance metric can be calculated for any crypto market asset and is simply a measure of any coin or tokens share of the total cryptocurrency markets capitalization, expressed as a percentage.

Bitcoin Dominance now sits at just over 51% after climbing from below 42% at the start of the year. Why the surge in Bitcoins Dominance? A variety of factors appear to have contributed to the sudden jump in Bitcoins Dominance chart, with Blackrocks recent filing for a new spot Bitcoin ETF arguably being the key driver.

ETHBTC and Bitcoin Dominance Comparison | SOURCE: TradingView.com

While both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have moved sharply higher in recent sessions, Bitcoins recent relative strength to Ether has pushed ETHBTC to a multi-month low. Lets take a look at what past 300-day lows for ETHBTC have meant for this key crypto market ratio.

As always, because the number of occurrences will vary depending on holding time, well start by listing the number of times that ETHBTC has closed at a 300-day low next to our hypothetical hold times of 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days, and 365 days. Holding time is defined as the amount of time one held an asset before exiting. For example, if one had hypothetically purchased ETHBTC following the...

XRP Traders Show Capitulation, Why This Could Be Bullish "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

On-chain data shows that XRP traders have been selling at a loss recently, unlike investors of the other top assets. Heres why this can be bullish for the coin.

XRP Loss Transactions Have Outweighed Profit Ones Recently

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, XRP has differed from the rest of the top cryptocurrencies in terms of the loss-taking behavior of the investors. The relevant indicator here is the ratio of on-chain transaction volume in profit to loss, which, as its name already hints, tells us about how the profit-taking volume of a specific coin compares with the loss-taking volume.

This metric separates these two volumes by going through the chain history of each coin being transacted to see what price it was previously moved at. If this previous selling price for any coin was less than the current spot value, then that particular coin is now being sold at a profit.

Naturally, all such coins will contribute towards the profit-taking volume. On the other hand, the coins of the opposite case will add to the loss-taking volume.

Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in this ratio for some of the top assets in the sector over the last few months:

XRP Loss-Taking Volume

As displayed in the above graph, the indicator has recently had positive values for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Cardano (ADA). Whenever the metric has such green values, it means that the profit-taking volume is more than the loss-taking volume currently.

This profit-taking spree from the investors of these cryptocurrencies isnt unexpected, as the prices of the various assets have observed a significant uplift during the past week. Following such sharp rallies, at least some holders tend to harvest their gains.

The odd one out here is XRP, however. From the graph, its visible that the metric has turned negative for the asset recently, implying that the investors have been participating in a net amount of loss-taking.

The reason behind these holders selling at a loss would be the poor performance of the coin relative to the other top assets, as XRP has in fact registered a decline of 1% during the past week.

Usually, loss-taking is a sign that the investors of the asset have started to give up, as they likely believe that the coin would only se...

How High Can Bitcoin Price Rise Due To Spot ETFs? Running The Numbers "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The recent Bitcoin rally has led to speculation that the price could rise further with the introduction of spot ETFs. The arrival of ETFs, especially from reputable companies such as BlackRock and Fidelity, could boost institutional investor confidence and lead to a surge in the Bitcoin price. The one million dollar question, however, is: how high? Clues to answering this question can come from various metrics and data.

One such data point was provided yesterday by CoinShares Chief Strategy Officer Meltem Demirors via Twitter. As she writes, the Bitcoin spot ETF news is not the only story. Many of the largest financial institutions in the US are currently actively working to provide access to BTC and more. In total, there are more than $27 trillion in client assets waiting on the sidelines.

Bitcoin AUM of institutions

With BlackRock, the worlds largest asset manager has filed a Bitcoin ETF application. Rumour has it that the worlds number three, Fidelity Investments, is also flirting with a Bitcoin ETF. Bitcoin ETF applications from Invesco and WisdomTree (both top 10 ETFs) are a fact.

How High Can Bitcoin Rise? All-Time High? Quadruple?

If just a fraction of the $27 trillion in client money managed by the largest asset managers were to go into Bitcoin spot ETFs, the impact on price would be gigantic. Just 1% would amount to over $270 billion (rather more because not all Bitcoin ETF applicants are included in the chart). In comparison, the Bitcoin market cap is currently $590 billion.

As NewsBTC reported two weeks ago, the performance of the gold price after the first gold ETF in November 2004 could also be a metric that provides a glimpse into the future. The launch of the first gold ETFs led to a fabulous gold rally. While the price of gold was still at $400 at the time of approval, it reached $600 in 2006 and $800 in 2008. Seven years after approval, in 2011, gold reached its preliminary high of almost $2,000 (+359%).

Is He Wrong for Expecting His Wife to Look After Their Sick Daughter for a Night? Heres What People Said.

Uh ohit sounds like theres trouble in paradise!

And you better believe that the good folks on Reddits Am I the A**hole? page have some feelings about whats going on here.

But we also think YOU should have an opinion on the matter!

So check out this story and see if you think this guy was out of line.

AITA for expecting my wife to look after our sick daughter for one evening?

I (M35) have a near 3 year old daughter with my wife (F35). We generally co-parent ok for the most part (although there are issues from time to time).

My wife definitely socializes with her friends much more often than I do (my friends live further away), which leaves me solely responsible for taking care of little one (she maybe has around 1/2 nights out a month, whereas its even less for me). This is absolutely ok with me, and I dont usually text or call my wife during her nights out to try and let her enjoy herself.

Last night I had plans to go to my friends house for a gaming night. The plan was roughly to leave at 7, be there for 730, then leave at around 12. When I got to my friends, my wife called me to tell me that Little One had been sick. I asked if she was ok, and how they were both feeling. She said ok, and I said that if she gets worse to let me know.

For the next two hours, my wife puts...

Why Hasnt the Pantheons Dome Collapsed?: How the Romans Engineered the Dome to Last 19 Centuries and Counting "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In Rome, one doesnt have to look terribly hard to find ancient buildings. But even in the Eternal City, not all ancient buildings have come down to us in equally good shape, and practically none of them have held up as well as the Pantheon. Once a Roman temple and now a Catholic church (as well as a formidable tourist attraction), it gives its visitors the clearest and most direct sense possible of the majesty of antiquity. But how has it managed to remain intact for nineteen centuries and counting when so much else in ancient Romes built environment has been lost? Ancient-history Youtuber Garrett Ryan explains that in the video above.

Any answer has to begin with concrete, Ryan says, the Roman variety of which cured incredibly hard, even underwater. Sea water, in fact, made it stronger. Its strength enabled the creation of vaults and domes that revolutionized architecture, not least the still-sublime dome of the Pantheon itself.

Injective (INJ) Continues To Build Momentum, Jumps Nearly 27% In A Single Week "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Injective (INJ) has been positive in 2023, racking up a nearly 500% price increase since the turn of the year. This significant rise ranks the cryptocurrency as one of the years best-performing assets.

Over the past week, the INJ token has been on an upward trend, adding more than 26% to its value.

Injective Price Records Daily 8% Gain Price Action

INJ, the native token of the Injective ecosystem, has maintained its recent bullish momentum, registering an 8.3% increase in the last 24 hours. As of this writing, the token is valued at $7.53, according to data from CoinGecko.

However, a broader look at the market reveals that the Injective price has been range-bound for the past few weeks. Since reaching a yearly peak of $9.32, the INJ price has moved mostly sideways, albeit 19.2% from its 2023 high.

With the choppy market condition, it is quite difficult to determine which overall trend is forming. The on-chain indicators seem quite indecisive at the moment. The token rebounds at the $6 price point, acting as a support zone.

Injective

The INJ token boasts a market capitalization of nearly $600 million, ranking it the 73rd biggest cryptocurrency. Additionally, the coin has a 24-hour trading volume of roughly $75 million, representing an increase of 131.2% in the past day.

According to the price prediction site CoinCodex, the general sentiment surrounding INJ is currently bullish. The team expects this token to maintain its bullish run and gain a further 13.08% in the next five days to trade at $8.59.

In addition, CoinCodex makes a bold prediction of INJ reaching a market price of $16.72 in the next 30 days, indicating a plausible 126.25% price on the tokens current price.

Injective Protocol Continues To Make Positive Waves

The decentralized Injective protocol has been on an ascent since the start of 2023, evolving in innovation and adoption. These developments have been crucial to the positive sentiment surrounding its token (INJ), contributing to its price growth and the enhanced activity on the Injective blockchain.

On June 23, Injective announced that it had reached its networks 240 million transaction mark. This is perhaps the most significant evidence of the decentralized blockchains growing popularity.

Another of Injectives recent developments is the...

  • The price is trading above $0.072 and the 100 simple moving average (4 hours).
  • There was a break above a key bearish trend line with resistance near $0.0735 on the 4-hour chart of the TRX/USD pair (data source from Kraken).
  • The pair is likely to continue higher if it clears the $0.0750 resistance level.

Tron Price Jumps 5%

In the past few days, Trons price saw a decent increase above the $0.0675 level against the US Dollar, similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum. TRX climbed above the $0.070 resistance and the 100 simple moving average (4 hours).

Tezos Releases Nairobi, XTZ Bulls Unmoved As Bears Dominate "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Tezos, the self-amending proof-of-stake blockchain, and an Ethereum competitor, recently implemented its latest upgrade via Nairobi. In a release, the 14th network improvement went live at block #3,760,129, tagging along platform enhancement and the simultaneous unveiling of the Tezos Ecosystem DAO.

Even so, while the upgrade is bullish for network users, there was no significant impact on XTZ prices. As of writing, XTZ, the native currency of the Tezos network, has been lower in the past 24 hours and is yet to reverse June 2023 losses.

The Nairobi Upgrade

The Nairobi upgrade was the networks 14th update and a collaborative effort by numerous teams and has introduced several mainnet enhancements that could improve user experience. Teams include Nomadic Labs, Marigold, TriliTech, Oxhead Alpha, Tarides, DaiLambda, and Functori.

Key improvements tagged by the Nairobi upgrade include enhanced transaction throughput meaning transactions can now be processed faster, and transaction fees will be lower. With this release, the Tezos protocol is faster, as its throughput has increased eight times. This improvement applies to various operations such as transactions, smart contract calls, Smart Rollup maintenance operations, and management operations.

Moreover, the blockchain now also supports Smart Rollup functions. With new functions and internal Layer-2 messages, Tezos can synchronize rollup kernels seamlessly with future Tezos protocol upgrades. Specifically, the blockchain has also improved its terminology for better communication and understanding. For faster consensus, the upgrade enhances the speed of pre-attestation propagation.

Tezos Ecosystem DAO

The Tezos community welcomes the Tezos ecosystem DAO to streamline on-chain funds deployment and treasury management for vital initiatives within the Tezos ecosystem.

With its launch, the decentralized automated organization (DAO) allows community members to submit funding requests for Tezos-related initiatives. These requests undergo curation, voting, and distributing XTZ. The DAO will be transparent, ensuring all activities are publicly visible to enhance trust and accountability within the community.

Initially, the DAO is governed by a three-out-of-five multi-sig setup, with participating organizations like Trilitech, Tezos Foundation, and Tezos India Foundation holding the keys.

Despite all these changes, XTZ prices remain under pressure and trail the performance of Bitcoin and Ethereum. As of writing on June 26, XTZ is changing hands at $0.80, up 13% from June 2023 lows. However,......

  • Ethereum is still facing a major hurdle near the $1,920 resistance.
  • The price is trading near $1,870 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.
  • There was a break below a short-term contracting triangle with support near $1,890 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD (data feed via Kraken).
  • The pair could decline further if it remains below $1,920 and $1,930 for a long time.

Ethereum Price Grinds Lower

Ethereums price remained below the key $1,920 resistance zone. ETH failed to stay above the $1,900 zone and extended its decline, similar to Bitcoin.

There was a break below a short-term contracting triangle with support near $1,890 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD. The pair dipped below the $1,865 support and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. However, losses were limited below $1,850.

A low is formed near $1,838 and the price is now moving higher. It broke the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $1,930 high to the $1,838 low.

Ether is now trading near $1,870 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. Immediate resistance is near the $1,885 level or the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $1,930 high to the $1,838 low. The next major resistance is near the $1,900 level.

Why Dont Employers Have to Give Us Two Weeks Notice When They Fire Us? People Shared Their Thoughts. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

No Bad Questions Employers Firing Why Dont Employers Have to Give Us Two Weeks Notice When They Fire Us? People Shared Their Thoughts.

Thats a good question, dont you think?

And its probably one that you havent thought about much before, right?

Well, today were definitely gonna get into it so we can see what AskReddit users think about this topic.

Take a look!

They only care about themselves.

The difference is that your employer has their own interests in mind, not yours. Their priority is to their business, so giving you two weeks notice to be nice usually isnt on their radar.

Its also a big risk for the employer to give you advance notice of your firing. Employees often pretty much stop working after that conversation, do a poor job, or flat-out sabotage their work. They get angry and blow up at their supervisor or coworkers. They may try to get other employees to quit or act out in protest. In short, they become a wildcard, and that is usually too big of a potential problem for an employer to risk it.

They dont appreciate you.

I worked at a company about 10 years ago where I was one of the few who knew how to run and transpose certain reports. I liked the company and was leaving for school and wanted to go back so I actually gave a month notice. I knew theyd have to hir...

Capturing the Elusive Magic of Californias Golden Light "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In California, warm, golden light slithers through palm fronds, squeezes through iron-wrought gates, and bounces off the chrome of freshly waxed sedans. It makes purple Jacaranda trees glow in the spring and nourishes orange groves in the winter. Though California light is all-encompassing, it feels elusive. The magical light that is synonymous with California is the primary subject for many Southern California-based artists, who chase it down and pin it to canvases, photographs, and sculptures, hoping to thwart its escape from collective memory.

Many artists have been drawn to Californias sun-soaked landscapes. Light and Space Movement artists like James Turrell and Robert Irwin, who got their start in Southern California, are some of the most famous practitioners who found ways of isolating the phenomenon by carving a portal into a ceiling or filtering it through a scrim. Others, like David Hockney, mastered the craft of capturing sunbeams reflected in rippling swimming pools.

As art evolves, so do the methods of capturing this illustrious light. Contemporary artists like Sarah Cain, Hayley Barker, and Gay Summer Rick feature the ways in which its colors bend and move throug...

European researchers are embarking on an underwater mission next month to resurface the oldest known hand-sewn shipwreck in the Mediterranean.

Located off the coast of the Istria peninsula in Croatia, the Zambratija boat has stood the test of time, with nearly 30 feet of its 39-foot structure still relatively intact, according to a news release from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). The ancient vessel was initially documented in 2008, according to a 2019 report, and found empty. However, there is still much to be studied in the structures elm planks and slanted stitching made of vegetal fibers a prime example of pre-Roman traditional shipbuilding in the Adriatic coastal regions of Istria and Dalmatia.

Myrlande Constant Composes the Tapestries of Life "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

LOS ANGELES The work of Myrlande Constant, a kaleidoscope of dazzling sequins, swirling designs, and intricate beadwork, is inseparable from her Haitian heritage and spiritual beliefs. Like many citizens of colonized countries, Constants spiritual practice is hybridized. Hers is a syncretic blend of Voudou (an African diasporic religion specific to Haiti) and Catholicism, which was established as Haitis official religion by the French in 1697 and remained so up until 1987. So important is this aspect of her life to her art that the introductory wall of Myrlande Constant: The Work of Radiance at the Fowler Museum includes this quote from the artist: After God and the Lwa (ancestral spirits), its my mother. If you dont get that, you dont get me.

The work in the retrospective is gorgeous and emanates a sense of lived experience. Looking at Constants tapestries can feel like directly witnessing the way in which she processes and creates meaning from that experience. Her tapestries are grounded in the historically male-dominated practice of drapo Vodou. While traditionally drapo flags depict individual figures and motifs, Constant creates entire scenes and stories through her beadwork; the resulting artworks read as a mixture of drapo and Catholic Renaissance painting, reflecting her hybridized spirituality.

Honeycomb Swells Across Ava Roths Embroidered Works Made in Collaboration with Bees "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Honeycomb overflows across a beaded embroidery on blue with dozens of bees on top

Detail of Blue and Gold, Ithra, encaustic, Japanese paper, gold leaf, embroidery floss, glass beads, natural honeycomb, local Ontario maple frame, 17.5 x 17.5 inches. All images Ava Roth, shared with permission

Artist Ava Roth (previously) continues her lavish honeycomb-laden works made through ongoing interspecies collaboration. Working with bee colonies for the last several years, the Toronto-based artist creates delicate encaustic pieces that emphasize natural processes and the allure of organic aesthetics. Set inside wooden frames augmented by rounded forms evocative of embroidery hoops, the mixed-media compositions begin with Roths carefully stitched motifs and beaded embellishments. Once shes finished her portion, she inserts the works into the hives of her six-legged collaborators to build their waxy forms.

Many of Roths most recent pieces involve bridge combs, which are segments of the prismatic cells that flow beyond the areas the artist designates. As shown in Beaded Circles, Indigo, these constructions add more dimension and visual intrigue to the compositions as they swell and surge above the base. The completed works convey a tension between control and wildness that Roth sees as a metaphorical blueprint for the future. She explains:

Emphasizing this tension feels critical because the project is fundamentally about exploring the boundaries of humans relationship to the natural environmentI hope these pieces are a visual representation of what that balance could look like, a...

AI Portraits Imagine Different Actors as the Potential Next James Bond

AI Portrait of Potential Next James Bond

Henry Cavill

Ever since Daniel Craig hung up his hat on his role as James Bond, people have asked the same question: who will be the next 007? While there is no official word on which actor will continue the world-famous franchise, it hasn't stopped people online from submitting their top choices. To help shed light on what some of these men would look like as the suave British secret agent, photographer Alper Yesiltas used AI to create cinematic portraits of each actor.

This series of images features many big-name actors who have graced films and TV alike, such as Henry Cavill (who starred as the titular roles in Superman and The Witcher) and Idris Elba (from Luther). And although the faces of these men are recognizable to us as dapper stars, Yesiltas uses AI technology to place them in settings fit for 007 himself. Seeing Cavill and Elba, dressed in crisp dark suits and standing before moody backgrounds with a sleek car parked nearby instantly gives the feeling of seeing them in a potential movie still.

Yesiltas also brings in other actors that are commonly mentioned, including Tom Hiddleston (best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Henry Golding (who caught worldwide attention in Crazy Rich Asians), and Reg-Jean Page (famous for the Bridgerton TV series). While very different in appearance and expression, all of these actors seem to embody the traits associated with James Bond, including sophistication and charm. Just as each new revamp of the series reimagines the timeless character, these portraits offer a possible preview of what kind of secret agent these men would bring to the next films.

Makeup Artist Transforms Her Face into Unreal Illusions

3D Makeup Art by Mimi Choi

While some artists rely on canvases to create art, Mimi Choi uses her own face. The Vancouver-based makeup artist is famous online for her masterful ability to completely transform her own visage into mind-boggling illusions. From decorating her skin with extra eyes to rendering a black hole of negative space, these paintings inspire awe as well as curiosity.

There seems to be a neverending supply of imaginative ideas for Choi's 3D makeup looks. Even the types of looks that she tackles vary from surrealist faces to larger-than-life food and beyond. She brings each idea to life by painting her face with layers, creating light and shadow where needed to enhance the illusion. For instance, in one look, she contours the side of her face into the shape of a woman, even going so far as to style her hair so that it blends in with the head of the painted version.

And while Choi is perfectly capable of mimicking reality with color, she sometimes adds accessories to enhance the three-dimensionality. For example, when she covered her face with dozens of eyes, each one was given a set of false lashes, making Choi's real eyes blend into the collage. Likewise, when she transformed her face into a giant mouth, Choi explained that she cut out a piece of paper and glued it to her skin to create a large tongue.

Scroll down to see more incredible illusions, and follow the artist on Instagram for even more insight into her process.

Watch a Calf Get Rescued From a Canal by an Excavator in One Swift Motion

Screenshots of video showing a calf being rescued from a canal by an excavator

Photo: Screenshot from Reddit

Excavators can usually be found around construction sites, but it turns out there's much more to them than moving sand around. As a viral animal rescue video shows, they can also be pretty handful tools to help a creature in distress. The dramatic clip shows a calf being swept away by the current until the claw of an excavator swiftly scoops it up and brings it to safety.

The video, posted to Reddit by user kzoxp, presents a hectic scene. A young cow is dragged down a muddy water canal in Idr, Turkey. The animal tries to keep its head above water, but can't fight the strength of the current. Then, in one swift motion, an excavator stationed beside the canal catches the calf and lifts it out of harm's way with incredible ease. The machine operator even lays the claw down gently, doing their best to give the cow a smooth landing. In the last seconds of the clip, the calf fortunately seems to stand up on its own.

As easy as the video makes it seem, the operator only had one chance to grab the calf. On top of that, even the tiniest mistake when handling the claw could have hurt the animal or endangered its chances of survival. Luckily, the excavator's driver nailed the operation and saved the day.

Redditors have reacted with immense praise for the machine operator. That was unquestionably, completely badass. Nice, bro, one person wrote. To that, another user...

Down Home Celebrates Joy and Togetherness at a Summer Camp for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A few miles east of Austin, Texas, just outside of the small city of Elgin, a trailblazing initiative has provided an educational experience for adults with intellectual disabilities since 1989. Founded by parents of a daughter with Downs Syndrome who noticed a lack of resources available to adults with disabilities, Down Home Ranch provides vocational opportunities and a summertime sleep-away camp. Over time, it has become a place of refuge that encourages personal expression and a home away from home for many of its attendees.

Austin-based director and cinematographer Riley Engemoen and photographer Liz Moskowitz captured magical moments and intimate insights into camp residents activities, relationships, and emotions in a short documentary, Down Home. Through poignant narration and stunning imagery, the filmmakers evoke a distinctly American nostalgia and celebrate how a safe space and togetherness gives adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to escape societal barriers and have a good ol time dancing, loving, and feeling free.

Hong Kongs HSBC Allows Customers To Trade Bitcoin ETFs, Signaling A Shift In Traditional Banks' Stance "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Hong Kong's leading financial institution, HSBC, has made a significant move by allowing its customers to trade Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This development marks a notable shift in the stance of traditional banks towards bitcoin, as HSBC has previously been cautious in embracing it.

Reporting by CoinDesk highlighted that HSBC's decision to enable bitcoin ETF trading for its customers comes after several prior developments that saw other banks also allow such activity. Notably, Samsung Asset Management launched the Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Prior to that, the CSOP Bitcoin Futures ETF launched on the same platform, receiving approximately $53 million in initial investments.

The decision by HSBC to allow its customers to trade bitcoin ETFs comes amidst a surge of institutional interest in bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., potentially igniting a race between countries to attract capital with these products.

The developments are also indicative of the evolving attitudes towards bitcoin among financial institutions. As traditional banks begin to embrace bitcoin, it signals a potential shift towards wider adoption and integration of bitcoin into the mainstream financial system. The merits of this are debatable, but on the surface, that appears to be what these moves signify.

ETFs are popular investment vehicles, and the introduction of Bitcoin ETFs would open up new opportunities for institutional investors to participate in the bitcoin market within a regulated framework. While this comes at the cost of many of the inherent properties that make bitcoin valuable, institutions prefer the rails of regulation and are more likely to be trusting of firms like BlackRock. There are, of course, exceptions to this such as MicroStrategy, a company that holds its own bitcoin.

Kelly Clarkson Surprises Cafe Customers With Impromptu A Capella Performance "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Kelly Clarkson Surprises Cafe Customers With Impromptu A Capella Performance

Photo: Jean_Nelson/Depositphotos

Imagine yourself enjoying a latte at your favorite coffee shop. How would you react if, instead of the regular chill playlist, a superstar showed up to serenade you? This happened to the customers at a Los Angeles cafe, where earlier this month singer Kelly Clarkson gave an impromptu a capella performance.

Clarkson just released her new album, Chemistry, and has been on an active promotion cycle since the the new record was announced in March. Known for her powerhouse vocals, the American Idol winner took a stripped-down approach for sharing her new songs one afternoon in June.

As the videos posted to her Instagram show, the 41-year-old star took part in a couple of a capella flash mobs. Clad in a green gown and joined by a group of singers, Clarkson showed up at the courtyard outside of a Sweetgreen location and a Blue Bottle coffee shop.

Clarkson sang Favorite Kind of High and Me, two of the album singles, as the shocked customers found themselves surrounded by an increasingly large chorus. On top of being a nice surprise, the a capella flash mobs are a testament to the singer's moving vocals. Not only does her voice shine in the most bare-bones setting, but she can also turn an everyday scenesuch as a restaurant at lunch timeinto a goosebump-inducing experience.

The singer, who has stretched beyond music and thrived as the host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, also has a heartfelt sense of humor. The flash mob is a good example of this, as Clarkson jokingly follows her powerhouse performance by immediately telling the barista, I would like a vanilla latte.

As exceptional as these performances were, there are plenty more opportunities to hear Clarkson live on much larger stages. The singer will celebrate the release of Chemistry wit...

Nikkis Weekly Tarot Reading: June 26-July 2, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

We are making our way through Cancer Season, and the cards show us how to honor our accomplishments and emotions. We are called to celebrate and release through these two vibrant cards.

Our first card this week is the powerhouse card of The Universe. This card speaks to the elevation of our consciousness and the culmination of a life cycle. We have been working hard, and this card wants us to feel proud and recognize our growth.

The figure on the Universe card is naked and dancing, surrounded by the four elements. She is in a place of celebration and mastery. She has gone through all the trials and tribulations of the Fools Journey and is in her power.

To invite the Universe card into your life, offer her the gift of dancing. Turning on some music and allowing yourself to let go can be very healing. Being in your body instead of your head is a great way to uplift this energy.

Under the influence of the Universe, take a moment to acknowledge your work instead of thinking about where you need to go next. The work will always be there. But this week, you deserve a moment of reflection and release.

Our second card this week is the Prince of Cups. This card is here to help us navigate our heavier emotions and shows us how to work with grief and sadness. Though The Universe card brings joyful celebration we are called to process what lies beneath to make way for deeper growth.

The Prince of Cups is an intuitive, sensitive, and creative soul that feels things deeply. He is the watery quality of air, bringing the mind and the heart together.

He will support us as we drop down below our outer world this week. Through spending intentional time in a quiet space, we can hear his guidance.

The Prince of Cups is about awareness of our inner dialog. He wants us to notice how we talk to ourselves and what messages we are sending.

We may set goals we really want, but in our minds, we dont think we are deserving and dont believe things will work out. We desire for our lives to progress and change but our inner monologue says differently.

The Prince of Cups wants us to see if we can match our thoughts with our desires. He asks us to hold self-fulfilling beliefs about ourselves, to think we are good enough, and visualize our success.

The Prince of Cups supports awareness of the stories we tell ourselves. These stories are sending a powerful message. If we want our stories to change, we have to first hear them.

When we become the observer of our thoughts, we can ride the waves instead of having them crash over us. The Prince shows us that acceptance of our feelings makes us skilled surfers on the emotional seas.

With acceptance and compassion, grief and sadness have their space. We can feel our emotions without having them pull us under or be stuffed inside. And when they feel heard, we are able to become lighter and mo...

Making of a Poem: Leopoldine Core on Ex-Stewardess "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Leopoldine Cores aura photo, courtesy of the author.

For our series Making of a Poem, were asking poets to dissect the poems theyve published in our pages. Leopoldine Cores Ex-Stewardess appears in our new Summer issue, no. 244.

How did this poem start for you? Was it with an image, an idea, a phrase, or something else?

Often a poem begins wordlessly. Its as if the text is a reply to some cryptic spot in the back of my brain that I have become attracted to. Im alerted to the presence of something that isnt solid. It has more to do with feeling, tempo, scale, and temperature. Im so focused on that emanating region that, even though Im using words, my experiencethe start of itis wordless and meditative.

How did writing the first draft feel to you? Did it come easily, or was it difficult to write? (Are there hard and easy poems?)

Some poems come quick and others take a while. But maybe the one that took years was easier in the endI dont know. Certain poems require many rounds of rewording. When this happens I will rewrite one line forty or more times, then narrow it down to thirty, then fifteen, then five, then choose.

But this poem was realized fairly quickly and required zero rewording. That happens sometimes. I tried rewording certain parts at different points but always wound up reverting to the original. The editing I did consisted of deleting maybe seventy percent of what was there, changing the order, capitalizing certain letters, and adding line breaks. I might have added a comma but I dont think so.

Were you thinking of any other poems or works of art while you wrote it?

Occasionally my friend Jane Corrigan will send me pictures of her paintings and drawings. There are two she showed me around that timeone is a pen drawing...

Breaking: The FDA Creates a Path for Psychedelic Drug Trials "IndyWatch Feed Health"

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently released first-ever draft guidance, making way for psychedelic drug trials. This ground-breaking move may facilitate the mainstream acceptance of substances such as magic mushrooms and LSD as potential treatments for behavioral health conditions.

The Significance of the FDAs New Move

The ramifications of this development are far-reaching. Psychedelics are now on the cusp of becoming a multi-billion-dollar industry and gaining widespread acceptance after years of apprehension due to recreational use of these substances, coupled with their high risk of misuse.

Yet, the bulk of research conducted to date has been primarily backed by private sponsors. This scenario may change with the FDAs novel initiative, bringing the promising potential of these substances into the limelight.

The FDAs Decision in Detail

The FDAs decision, outlined in a 14-page document, proposes guidelines on conducting trials, collecting data, and ensuring subject safety for researchers exploring psychedelic treatments for various conditions. These range from PTSD, depression, and anxiety, to a variety of other mental health disorders.

This guidance came hot on the heels of the introduction of new legislation by a bipartisan coalition in Congress, led by Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), which directed the issuance of clinical trial guidelines. The legislation, House Bill 4242, represents an important step in establishing regulatory frameworks for psychedelic research.

Photographer Captures Hunting Prowess of Bald Eagles Catching Fish and Eating It in Mid-Air

Bald Eagle by Mark Smith Photography

Bald eagles are impressive animals. As one of the largest raptors in the world, they can have a wingspan of up to 8 feet. Expert hunters, they live near water to have a constant supply of fish, turtles, ducks, and snakes. And when they spot a tasty snack, they can swoop down at up to 100 miles per hour and pluck their prey from the water. It sounds incredible on paper, but the visual is even better.

Thankfully, Mark Smith is an expert at capturing video of the precise moment when bald eagles strike. His recordings, which he posts to his popular Instagram, pay homage to the power and glory of this bird, which has been a symbol of America since the 18th century. In one clip, the bald eagle flies down with determination and, after it's gotten the fish in its talons, swallows it whole while in mid-air.

As Smith frequents an area where a large bald eagle population is present, he notes that they are often competing for food. This most likely accounts for why the eagle wasn't taking any chances with its catch. They often have to eat on the wing in order to avoid theft or confrontation, he tells My Modern Met.

In another video, the eagle leisurely glides sideways to the surface of the water. The large fish it ultimately grabs is helpless as the eagle flies off into the sky with it tightly clutched between its talons. And while their dives into the water are impressive, this isn't the only way that eagles hunt.

Smith was able to capture a video of a bald eagle slowly making its way across a bed of oysters to snatch a fish with its beak. As it stalked its prey, the bird's gaze intensified. Only once the fish was in its mouth did the raptor take in its surrounding, even looking right at the camera.

For Smith, the opportunity to see these moments is priceless. Thankfully, he's happy to share his work so that everyone can appreciate the power and grace of these raptors.

Binance Rescinds Decision To Remove Privacy Coins From European Market "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Binance has made a decision to reverse its initial plan of delisting certain privacy coins in Europe. This change in course comes after the exchange revised its operations to align with the local regulatory requirements.

According to the developers of Verge (XVG) and Secret (SCRT) cryptocurrencies, a significant outcome was achieved. Seven privacy-focused tokens were stopped from being de-listed. These tokens, which were at risk of being removed from the listings, have been successfully retained.

A comment received from the cryptocurrency exchange on June 26 states:

After carefully considering feedback from our community and several projects, we have revised how we classify privacy coins on our platform to comply with EU-wide regulatory requirements.

The crypto exchange also mentioned that due to its status as a registered exchange in multiple European Union jurisdictions, it is obligated to comply with local regulations.

These regulations mandate that exchanges have the capability to monitor transactions involving the coins listed on their platform.

In May, Binance communicated via email to its customers in France, Italy, Spain, and Poland regarding changes to its services. The message outlined the discontinuation of trading services for 12 cryptocurrencies known for enabling anonymous transactions.

Prominent privacy coins such as Monero, Dash, and Zcash were among those affected. Additionally, lesser-known tokens like XVG and SCRT were also scheduled for delisting from the exchanges offerings.

Following the retraction of the decision to delist privacy-focused tokens, several projects have utilized Twitter as a platform to provide reassurance to their community members.

Binance Complies As EU Sets Standards For Digital Assets

The decision to delist privacy-focused tokens came as a response to the European Unions implementation of the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation.

This regulation includes the travel rule for crypto transactions, which requires enhanced transparency and information sharing. Consequently, there is a potential risk for firms facilitating the trading of privacy coins to be non-compliant with EU law.

Brilliant Sculptural Stories Unfold From Carefully Crafted Pages of Books

Book Sculptures by Emma Taylor

Usually, when we read, the story comes alive in our heads. UK-based artist Emma Taylor takes this experience to a new level in her incredible book sculptures. Using discarded texts, she crafts three-dimensional animals and objects from the pages. From ships that sprout from antique atlases to insects flying from animal guides, these carefully-modeled sculptures playfully interact with their original source.

Taylor spends countless hours finding materials for her art. In particular, upcycling old or abandoned books (typically from the early 20th century) is an integral part of her practice. In my work, I give new life to old books by creating intricate sculptures which appear to emerge directly from the paper pages, Taylor explains to My Modern Met. The often minute details I create draw the viewer into each sculpture, as fine strips of text are transformed into rigging on a seafaring galleon, printed words become individual feathers shaping a birds wing or singular letters form the bricks of grand buildings.

For Taylor, choosing the right book comes down to instinct. She says that certain texts inspire her immediately, while in other cases, she sometimes has to seek out a specific book for an idea she already has in mind. Nature is an endless source of inspiration for me with trees in particular being a recurrent theme, she adds. Each tree I make references the origin of the paper itself as I transform the paper pages back into trunks and branches; also connecting the wisdom of ancient trees to the wisdom contained within many books.

Scroll down to see some of Taylors fantastic book sculptures and check out more from her growing portfolio on her website.

Major Breakthrough: How Botox enters brain cells, a discovery that could save lives "IndyWatch Feed Health"

A groundbreaking study led by distinguished researchers from the University of Queensland has unveiled new insights about the complex mechanism through which Botox infiltrates brain cells. The profound findings, published in The EMBO Journal, are set to have a substantial impact on the medical and cosmetic industries and potentially pioneer new treatments for botulism.

Botox: A Multifaceted Tool from Bacterial Origins to Beauty Regimes

The team spearheaded by Professor Frederic Meunier and Dr. Merja Joensuu from the Queensland Brain Institute at the University of Queensland, successfully pinpointed the specific molecular pathway through which the botulinum neurotoxin type-A, popularly known as Botox, infiltrates neurons.

A compound released by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, Botox has a long and intriguing history. Its initial medical application was in the treatment of strabismus, a condition characterized by misalignment of the eyes. Over time, its therapeutic applications expanded to include treatments for spasms, migraines, and even excessive sweating as documented by the Mayo Clinic and Hopkins Medicine.

Interestingly, Botoxs most widely recognized use today is in the cosmetic industry, where its employed to smooth wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin. However, the benefits of Botox go beyond the aesthetic realm. When deployed medically, Botox injections can provide various health benefits, such as:

  • Alleviating chronic migraines: Regular Botox treatments can decrease the frequency of migraine attacks.
  • Reducing hyperhidrosis: Botox can be used to manage excessive sweating.
  • Treating muscle spasticity: Botox injections can relax muscles and improve mobility.
  • Managing eye conditions: Early use of Botox was to address strabismus and blepharospasm (abnormal contraction of the eyelid muscles).
  • Reducing overactive bladder symptoms: Botox has shown positive results in controlling urinary incontinence.

However, despite its numerous benefits, its critical to note that when botulinum toxin is released in large quantities by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, it can cause the potentially lethal disease botulism.

MicroBT Brings ASIC Manufacturing To America In Partnership With Riot Platforms "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Riot Platforms, the largest public U.S. Bitcoin mining company in terms of developed capacity, has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding a partnership with Bitcoin ASIC manufacturer, MicroBT. The two major bitcoin companies will bring the production of MicroBTs ASICs to America. The collaboration aims to secure miners for Riot's Corsicana facility, significantly boosting the company's mining capabilities. According to a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine, this development comes as Riot's Corsicana facility is set to increase the company's developed capacity to 1.6 GW.

This agreement directly repudiates every major criticism of our industry, the press release stated. For those concerned about our energy consumption, these machines will be more efficient than ever For those who say Bitcoin mining data centers do not actually create jobs, we are helping to create hundreds of jobs, between the MicroBT manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania, and our state of the art data center coming to Corsicana, Texas.

One of the key highlights of this partnership is the expected increase in Riot's self-mining hash rate capacity. The press release states that by mid-2024, upon the full installation of the machines from this order, Riot's self-mining hash rate capacity is projected to surge by approximately 61% to over 20 EH/s. This significant boost in capacity further establishes Riot's position as a leading player in the Bitcoin mining industry.

Moreover, this partnership between Riot and MicroBT also marks a pivotal moment for the industry. Bitcoin miner manufacturing has traditionally been concentrated in Asia, but this new partnership with Riot strengthens the domestic supply chain in the United States. It expands the options available to Bitcoin miners, offering them a robust selection of machines.

Importantly, the collaboration between Riot and MicroBT will not only have a positive impact on the industry but also on local job creation. The machines will be manufactured by MicroBT at a new facility in the United States, generating employment opportunities in the local area.

Riot's partnership with MicroBT signifies a major milestone within the Bitcoin mining industry. With the increased hash rate, domestic manufacturing and job creation, this collaboration is set to shape the future of Bitcoin mining in the United States and contribute to the growth of the industry as a whole.

Help stop a bad vaccine bill in the California Legislature! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

AB 659 was initially introduced with the requirement of administering the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to California public and private school 8-12th graders, as well as all public higher education students.  However, with the help of your advocacy, subsequent amendments to the bill led to the removal of these mandates.

What remains in the bill is a policy stating that all individuals under the age of 26 are expected to receive the HPV vaccine prior to entering 8th grade in Californias public or private schools, as well as all public higher education establishments.

Despite the improvements in the bill, it still carries certain flaws that may result in unintended consequences.  The Weston A. Price Foundation maintains its opposition to the bill in its current form due to concerns about the confusing language stating that the HPV vaccine is expected.  This wording does not effectively communicate that the vaccine is not mandatory for 8th grade or college/university entry, thus leading to potential misunderstandings.

Also, HPV vaccines have far too many problems with side effects, so the state should not have a public policy expecting the vaccination of students.

HPV vaccination can carry life-threatening side effects.  There have been more than 73,000 adverse reactions, including many deaths, reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) related to the HPV vaccine and it is estimated by the government that only 1% of all reactions are ever reported!

Did you know that the HPV vaccine, called Gardasil 9:

  • may actually increase precancerous lesions
  • only targets a few of the over 100 known human papillomaviruses
  • has not been shown to last longer than 5 years

And it has never been properly studied, despite the tens of thousands of adverse reactions that have been reported to the government in connection with the HPV vaccine.

Students should not be expected to get this high-risk vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease!

AB 659 passed the Full Assembly on 5-31-23 and was referred to the Senate Education and Health Committees.  It will be heard in the Senate Health Committee on June 28, 2023.

Please help us get this bill amended once again!
