Would you like a tour of one of the world's most exclusive venues? It may not be the hottest club in Manhattan or the chicest Instagram backdrop in Paris, but only a select few get to see the inside of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen. The doors only open a few times a year for select people, but now a virtual tour is allowing everyone to peer inside the concrete doomsday collection of seeds from around the world. Start at the entrance and work your way through the snow-shrouded interior of the mountain to learn more about the 1.2 million seeds deposited inside.

Opened in 2008, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is the world's backup reserve of seeds from plants both common and rare. The location was chosen for its relative insulation from warming climates and its remoteness. The building, which looks like a concrete pride rock, was carved into the side of Plateau Mountain. It stands alone against the cold landscape. Some of the vault lies under 400 feet of rock, and five metal doors separate the seeds within from the world outside. Inside, towers of shelves hold thousands of boxes containing seeds in aluminum envelopes. A low temperature of -18 degrees Celcius preserves this precious material.

The aluminum envelopes contain over 1.2 million samples of plant seeds from around the world. Each envelop...

Blaming Victims for Failures of Government "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

By Ramesh Thakur
We are trapped in a topsy-turvy world. On the one hand, many Western governments have prioritised the feelings and sensibilities of protected groups over the rights and safety of the more numerous mainstream groups in laws backed by police and administrative enforcement. On the other hand, they have taken forceful action against those who demand or take action to protect themselves against actual threats and harms to public safety. This is an odd juxtaposition. The question is: Are they two sides of the same coin?

The State Protects Safety of Some Groups against Hurt Feelings

Over the last decade the high priests of the Heavenly Kingdom of Woke have successfully colonised most civic, political, corporate, media, and sporting institutions in the professional-managerial ranks. Their worldview and value system has become the ascendant religion in Western societies and those who would challenge the metaphysical beliefs and rites of the Holy Woke Empire are the minority cultural deviants. You can praise any culture in the world except Western but must blame only Western culture for all the worlds ills. We are creating a society in which no one is responsible for what s/he himself did, but we are all responsible for what somebody else did decades and centuries in the past. The sway of safetyism creates demand for safe spaces and the right not to be hurt and offended. Thus a British-Asian woman berated an immigrant taxi driver for asking where she was from, uploaded her interaction to TikTok thereby putting the poor mans livelihood at risk, and complained about feeling incredibly unsafe. Attributing racist malice to a curiosity-based conversation starter is evidence...

Polygon (MATIC) Witnesses High Volatility Amid Positive Developments "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Polygon (MATIC), one of the prominent Web3 networks, has recently experienced a period of volatility in its price. Currently trading at $0.625112 USD, with a 24-hour trading volume of $547,815,952 USD, MATIC has shown a 9.63% increase in the last 24 hours. Polygon has rebounded from the bearish sentiments earlier in the week. This comes on the back of recent developments within the Polygon ecosystem towards increasing utility and partnerships with key financial institutions.

Polygon Launches The Value Prop

Polygon has made an important announcement, launching The Value Prop, an open database of blockchain use cases. This comprehensive catalog contains over 300 applications and diverse use cases across multiple business sectors, blockchain networks, and geographical locations. The initiative aims to showcase positive applications for blockchain technology, presenting it as a versatile tool beyond asset trading.

Amid the negative sentiment surrounding blockchain technology due to regulatory pressures on major market participants like Binance and Coinbase, Polygons move to highlight real-world applications is significant. It aligns with the belief among Web3 experts and industry players that blockchain should be viewed as a general-purpose technology addressing real-world challenges.

Web3 Development And Positive Trends

Polygons efforts to boost Web3 development and unlock new use cases align with the industrys overall trajectory. Ripple (XRP) recently partnered with Banco de la Repblica, Colombias central bank, to explore blockchain use cases. This indicates a growing recognition of the potential of blockchain technology beyond cryptocurrencies.

Polygons co-founder, Sandeep Nailwal, also launched the Nailwal Fellowship, a grant program providing financial support and resources to early-stage Web3 developers. This initiative offers funding, mentorship, and access to top founders and investors, nurturing the growth of the Web3 ecosystem.

Chilling Video Brings the Sounds of the Centuries-Old Celtic Carnyx Back to Life

Celtic music is revered by many for its relaxing and ethereal qualities. Some list it as a tool for meditation and for finding peace of mind. While some of us may associate its sounds with dreamy medieval fantasies, Celtic music also has a belligerent side. A video that has recently gone viral shows a Celtic carnyx being played live for an audience. This centuries-old instrument was once used to call troops to battle and has a deeply haunting sound.

But what is a carnyx? It's an ancient wind instrument developed by the Iron Age Celts. Its most striking characteristic is the bell, which has the shape of an open-mouthed boar or another intimidating creature. It features a type of bronze trumpet with an elongated S shape. Its player holds the long straight central portion vertically, while the mouthpiece end section and the animal-inspired bell are kept horizontal in opposite directions.

The caption of the video notes that this was the sound Roman soldiers would have heard their Celtic foes make. Used by Celtic warriors marching into battle or for large ceremonies, the height of the instrument allowed it to be heard over the heads of dozens upon hundreds of people. It was commonly used between approximately 200 BCE and 200 CE.

The carnyx was once widespread throughout much of Europe, although only a dozen or so fragments are known to us,...

ZachXBT Slapped With Defamation Lawsuit For MachiBigBrother Expos "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

A throwback article just came back to haunt one of the crypto industrys favorite crypto investigators. ZachXBT, a popular crypto on-chain sleuth recently got slapped with a defamatory lawsuit over an article he published last year.

The Controversial Article That Started It All

Around a year ago, ZachXBT published an article accusing Jeffrey Huang aka MachiBigBrother, of embezzling crypto assets using various methods ranging from failed pump and dump tokens to NFT projects. The article quickly gained widespread attention at the time, but it has been largely forgotten up until this point.

Jeffrey Huang, known online as Machi Big Brother, is a former Taiwanese-American musician and tech entrepreneur.

Huang has now filed a defamation lawsuit against ZachXBT, claiming the year-old article has damaged his reputation. Huang has insisted, at least according to a post that he published on Twitter, that ZachXBTs charges are false and defamatory. As a result, he has decided to sue for defamation of character.

A cursory reading of the article, on the other hand, reveals that it is an investigational piece that goes into considerable detail. In the article, ZachXBT provided on-chain data to back up his claims. The crypto sleuth initially accused Machi Big Brother of embezzling 22,000 ETH from Formosa Financial, a treasury management platform built for blockchain companies in 2018. Furthermore, ZachXBT then provided a list of other projects like Machi X and Wifey Finance.

How ZachXBT Is Fighting Back Against The Lawsuit

ZachXBT is not taking this lawsuit lying down as hes come out swinging against what he calls a baseless lawsuit with an attempt to chill free speech. ZachXBT has asked his followers and subscribers to support him against censorship and cancel culture, ensuring the truth survives.

He termed the whole situation as a classic David & Goliath story, and many have spoken out on social media defending his right to express his opinions. Brown Rudnick, a law firm with its headquarters in Boston famous for defending Johnny Depp in his case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, has agreed to represent ZachXBT in the lawsuit.

Fascinating Video Reveals What It Takes to Ring a 70-Ton Bell at a Japanese Temple "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Fascinating Video Reveals What It Takes to Ring a 70-Ton Bell at a Japanese Temple

The 70-ton Great Bell Tower at the Chion In temple in Kyoto

Photo: Benjamin Hollis via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0)

When you think of a monumental bell, what comes to mind? Is it one shaped like a hollow cup, much like the Liberty Bell? If so, you aren't alone. In Eastern cultures, however, there are bells much larger than it. Located in temples and palaces, ringing these instruments can be a team effort, as they have to be hit from the outside by a large swinging beam for their sounds to come alive.

An insightful video shared by Instagram user hirori030303 shows what it takes to ring the Daishr, or Great Bell Tower, at the Chion-in Buddhist Temple in Kyoto, aka the largest bell in Japan. The footage depicts a group of men moving a large wooden batten back and forth. Once they have enough momentum, the men swing forward, leading one to even slide down the floor. Together, they ring the enormous green-gray bell with one swift blow. In total, it requires a group of 25 men to sound the bell.

As compelling as the sound of the bell is, this is far from the only element that makes the Great Bell Tower of the Chion-in Temple such a fascinating landmark. The bell weighs 70 tons (the Liberty Bell weighs one ton) and has a height of 10.8 feet and a diameter of 8.85 feet. This gigantic instrument is also wrapped in history; it was cast in 1636, while the tower which supports it was built in 1678.

It's uncommon to hear the bell, as it is only rung on certain occasions throughout the year. They include memorial services for Hnen (the Gyoki Daie, held in April) and 108 times New Years Eve. By ringing it at the beginning of the new year, it vanishes the pain attached to worldly desires.

If you'd like to stay up to date with the beautifu...

Binance Coin (BNB) Faces Sideways Movement, Bears Threaten Further Sell-Off "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Binance Coin (BNB), the native token of the Binance exchange, has recently experienced a period of sideways movement. Despite reaching a weekly high of $307 on June 4th, BNBs price has encountered resistance and is currently trading at $246.2. This article provides an analysis of the recent price action, discusses the potential reasons behind BNBs performance, and explores the future prospects for the coin.

The recent decline in BNBs price can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the overall market sentiment has been influenced by a broader correction in the cryptocurrency market. Many altcoins, including BNB, have witnessed a decrease in value as investors take profits and adjust their portfolios. Additionally, concerns over regulatory developments and market uncertainties have added to the selling pressure on BNB.

Bearish Threat And Technical Indicators

Despite attempts by bulls to regain control, bears pose a significant threat to BNBs price stability. The crucial resistance level of $308 has become a battleground for market participants. If the bears manage to break down this level, it could trigger a further sell-off, potentially pushing the price lower.

BNB weekly chart shows sideways movement: source @Tradingview

Technical indicators paint a cautious picture for BNB. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator has exhibited a bearish crossover, signaling a continuation of selling pressure in the near term. Furthermore, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 35.63 levels, suggesting that there could be a further downside if buying pressure does not increase.

Related Reading: PEPE Jumps Nearly 10% In 24 Hours, Sparking Speculation Of A New Rally

Moreover, the 50-Weekly Moving Average positioned below the 200-Weekly MA indicates a bearish trend for BNB. This configuration suggests that the price could continue downward in the coming days unless significant positive developments or market catalysts emerge.

Whats Next For BNB?

Market participants will closely monitor the price action around the critical resistance level of $308. A successful breach above this level could ignite renewed bullish momentum, potentially leading to a recovery in BNBs price. Traders and investors will also pay attention to a...

How I Protect My Bitcoin Privacy And Enjoy True Financial Freedom "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Prasad Prabhakaran, co-founder of self-custody product company BitHyve and one of the organizers of Bitcoin4India.

Ever since I delved into the world of Bitcoin, I've been captivated by its promises of decentralization, security and anonymity. However, my journey has also revealed the true costs of overlooking privacy in bitcoin transactions.

Through firsthand experiences and lessons learned, I've come to appreciate the paramount importance of protecting personal information and maximizing privacy levels. In this article, I will share my insights on the perils of sacrificing privacy in Bitcoin transactions and the steps I've taken to reclaim control over my financial freedom.

The Price Of Transparent Transactions

My initial enthusiasm for Bitcoin's privacy potential was met with a harsh reality: without the appropriate privacy measures, my transactions were anything but anonymous. I felt that this made the risk of theft loom large, as hackers could identify and target wallets holding substantial sums of bitcoin. Witnessing others fall victim to these attacks made me realize the grave financial losses that could result from a lack of privacy.

And beyond my individual concerns, I began to feel that neglecting privacy in bitcoin transactions held broader societal implications. When transactions lack anonymity, they can become tools for profiling and targeting individuals for various purposes. This erosion of privacy could in turn breed a loss of trust in Bitcoin, as users are likely seeking a more secure and permissionless alternative to the fiat monetary system. Bitcoin's true potential can only be realized when privacy is given the importance it deserves.

Reclaiming Privacy And Financial Freedom

Awakening to the costs of negligence, I made a conscious decision to reclaim control over my financial privacy. I took some proactive steps to protect my personal information and enhance my privacy levels. Here are the strategies I adopted:

  1. Embracing privacy-enhancing technologies: I employed a virtual private network (VPN) and Tor to encrypt my internet traffic and shield my identity, making it more challenging for prying eyes to track my online activity.
  2. Harnessing CoinJoin and Whirlpool: CoinJoin technology, particularly through solutions like Whirlpool, allowed me to mix my bitcoin transactions with those of others, significantly bolstering my privacy and making it arduous for outsiders to trace my bitcoin activity.
  3. Labeling and management: By meticulously managing my unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs), I decoupled my transaction history, embraced stealth addresses and exercised coin control, enhancing my overall privacy.
  4. B......

Shiba Inu (SHIB) Positive Social Sentiment Sparks Bullish Speculation "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Shiba Inu (SHIB), a cryptocurrency that has gained immense popularity and attention in recent months, is making waves once again as its price exhibits signs of recovery.

This week, the SHIB price has displayed a promising uptick, maintaining a level above the $0.0000065 range. Moreover, on-chain data analysis reveals a notable surge in positive social sentiment within the vibrant Shiba Inu community.

With these encouraging developments, investors and enthusiasts eagerly ponder whether this could signal a forthcoming bullish reversal for SHIB. Is it time for the Shiba Inu token to regain its momentum and embark on a new upward trajectory?

Growing Optimism Among Shiba Inu Investors

After a volatile start to the month, investors in SHIB are beginning to feel more optimistic about the projects prospects. This renewed optimism can be attributed, in part, to Santiments Weighted Sentiment, which assesses the overall mood of a blockchain community by comparing the number of positive comments to the negative ones.

Adding to the positive sentiment, the Shiba Inu community received intriguing updates from notable figures within the project.

An unusual alliance was formed between Muslims and far-right, conservative Christians in Canada, where they protested against gender ideology and attacked a local school board in Ottawa after providing support for LGBTQIA+ students.

The protests were caused by a directive that the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board released to its staff. The notice advised using they/them pronouns for students until they express their preferred pronouns.

The all-staff directive of the school board inspired demonstrations and coverage from Canadian far-right personalities, particularly Keean Bexte of the far-right news site The Counter Signal and Chris Elston, a notorious far-right provocateur known for his moniker Billboard Chris after a 2020 stunt where he paid for a billboard that said I JK Rowling, then wearing the message on a sandwich board at protests after the billboard was taken down for being a hateful expression.

A video of the Muslim and conservative Christians protest was shared online, where Muslim women and other demonstrators encouraged young children to stomp on the Pride flags strewn on the ground. As the kids danced on the flags, an older white man was seen holding a large Canadian flag, leaning down to shake a kids hand in solidarity and saying, Right on, boys!

Chants like Leave our kids alone! were also heard up and down the street where the protest took place, which was also home to two high schools and an elementary school.

Keean Bexte posted the video of the protest on Twitter, adding that all of these proponents of childhood mastectomies and penectomies are...

Artificial Evangelist: The Church That Turned to AI for Spiritual Guidance "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Artificial intelligence models like ChatGPT are increasingly becoming more popular and helpful in performing tasks like programming, research, and writing. But with all its current limitations, can artificial intelligence deliver a good sermon just like a priest, pastor, or imam would do?

A Lutheran church in the Bavarian town of Fuerth in southern Germany conducted a little experiment to find out. Using the ChatGPT chatbot, Jonas Simmerlein, a theologian and philosopher from the University of Vienna, crafted a 40-minute service for St. Pauls Church that included sermons, music, and prayers.

It would be the first time in history that artificial intelligence helped generate and conduct an entire church service in the history of St. Pauls church.

I conceived this service but actually I rather accompanied it because I would say about 98% comes from the machine, the 29-year-old religious scholar told the Associated Press, who covered the story of AI performing a church service.

More than 300 worshippers showed up for the experimental church service. During the service, the AI was personified by many avatars, including a black-bearded man who appeared on a massive screen above the churchs altar.

Dear friends, it is an honor for me to stand here and preach to you as the first artificial intelligence at this years convention of Protestants in Germany, the avatar said in an expressionless face and monotonous voice.

Aside from the bearded Black man avatar, two young men and women avatars led the entire church service.

Business Jihad: The Plot to Drive Out Religious Minorities in India "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

As Hindu nationalism continues to rise in India, the countrys minorities, particularly Muslims, find it more challenging to keep up with their lives due to increasing sectarian violence and tensions between Hindus and other religious communities.

With the persistent spread of hate crimes against Muslims in India, since the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party assumed power in 2014, a small town in the northern state of Uttarakhand has recently become a new focal point in continuing tensions between Muslims and Hindus in India.

It all started when two men, Ubaid, and Jitender Saini, allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old Hindu girl in the town of Purola in Indias Uttarkashi district on May 26th. The towns residents captured the abductors. They were handed over to the police, where they were charged with violating the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other related laws.

What led to communal rifts between Muslims and Hindus was the fact that one of the suspects was a 24-year-old Muslim man, sparking new tensions between the communities and reviving the conspiracy of love jihad, where Muslim men allegedly marry Hindu women to convert them to Islam, despite little evidence of it happening. Even the BJP denies the existence of such reports.

Nevertheless, allegations of love jihad led to the creation of a new conspiracy involving jihad called vyapar jihad or business jihad. The May 26 incident in Purola also provided an opportunity for right-wing Hindutva groups like Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and its youth wing, the Bajrang Dal, to reinvigorate their movement of kicking Muslims out of the Himalayan state that borders Chinas Tibet and turn it into a devbhoomi or land of the gods.

The Fiery Debate Over Islams Identity: Pakistans Intellectual Battle "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Two Pakistani columnists sparked a fierce debate about Islam's role in society as defined by Islamists and the perception of Islam by the West and liberal activists. The two writers presented their views on Islam, society, and the West in their respective Urdu-language newspapers.

The first to present his arguments was Khurshid Nadeem, a liberal columnist writing for the Roznama Dunya. In his column titled "Everybody Has Their Own Islam, Nadeem subtly criticized Islamists in the Pakistani-administered Azad Kashmir for praising a new policy in the region where female students and teachers in educational institutions are required to wear the hijab.

Nadeem also wrote about how the conception of Islam by Muslim countries like Pakistan are influenced by their geographical and cultural sensibilities, adding that different Muslim countries like Morocco and Afghanistan have different societal attitudes and interpretations of Islam. He also pointed out how Muslim countries have become patriarchal and express the view of women being a threat to Islam, which justifies actions that would keep women far from men to protect the latters honor.

Finally, he urged Pakistan and its rulers to set their priorities straight, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. He even boldly claimed that Prophet Muhammad only allowed usury and slavery because economic stability was his priority while saying that the Prophet raised societal standards so high that these practices eventually became unacceptable.

The next to present his views was Shahnawaz Farooqui, a columnist for the Roznama Jasarat, a newspaper aligned with the Islamist Jamaat-e-Islami. He wrote a column titled "The Islam Of The Agents Of The West, outlining his counterarguments against Nadeems column and claiming how the West tried to subvert and malign Islam for over 1,000 years.

Farooqui started his column by claiming that the West does not see the Prophet Muhammad as a holy prophet but rather a great personality, adding that Islam is considered an invention o...

PEPE Jumps Nearly 10% In 24 Hours, Sparking Speculation Of A New Rally "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Pepe (PEPE) may seize the opportunity to rally in the face of an ongoing volatility and price swings in the crypto market. With Bitcoin (BTC) recently dipping below $25,000 before swiftly rebounding to $26,000, the market has been in a state of flux. Such fluctuations often create an environment ripe for alternative cryptocurrencies to make their mark, and PEPE could be poised to do just that.

PEPEs rally comes at a time when investors are seeking alternative options beyond the dominant cryptocurrencies. While Bitcoin continues to dominate the market, its price movements can have a cascading effect on other digital assets.

That being said, can PEPE capitalize on Bitcoins volatility and secure its own rally to attract investors seeking new opportunities in the crypto space?

PEPE Price Recovery Potential

In recent market developments, PEPE has witnessed a notable rally, as reflected in its current price of $0.0000009779 on CoinMarketCap. This surge represents an impressive 8.5% increase within a 24-hour period.

However, its important to note that this upward momentum follows a preceding seven-day slump of 7.96%, underscoring the inherent volatility that characterizes the cryptocurrency market.

The price of PEPE has undergone substantial fluctuations since early May, resulting in a significant decline of over 50% in its overall value. This decline has caused a shift in the market structure, signaling a bearish trend as sellers capitalized on shorting opportunities when the support levels at $0.00000162 and $0.00000115 were breached.

AITA for calling my friend disgusting during a time I was supposed to be supporting him?

My friend James 24 is struggling with his girlfriend. Theyve been together for almost 3 years but he has gotten increasingly unhappy. He asked me to get coffee yesterday so he can do some venting. Its okay I vent to him too. Its a cool perk of our friendship.

We were drinking our coffee and I was letting him talk and he brought up her weight pretty quickly. I admit she has gained significant weight since they began dating. I believe James said shes gone up 3 or so pants sizes.

James was saying how he does love her, he finds her plenty attractive still, and enjoys bedroom time very much. But then he started saying the problem is how it makes him look.

He said he doesnt want to be the guy with the heavy girlfriend and he h**es when he goes out with groups of people and girlfriend is the biggest girl there all the time. He says hes not really sure theres a good way for him to bring any of this up too.

Why Some People Report A Tingle In Their Mouths When Eating Pineapple "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Pineapples and humans have a very interesting history together, from the moral issues of colonization and the tricks of shipping it across the ocean, to the odd relationship between the pineapples and the art of inviting (or shooing away) guests.

And it turns out if you look very close at the fruit itself, youll see that it really never intended to be eaten in the first place.

@sf_microscopy

One of my favorite fruits is pineapple, but every time I eat them, my mouth tingles. I read that the fruit contains raphides! Kiwis, grapes, taro, and yams also have large amounts of these crystals. These needles serve as a defensive function against insect herbivors to deter them from eating the plants fruits and protect the seeds. The needles work with other chemcial substances, like bromelain in the pineapple, to amplify the effects. #microscope #microbiology...

XRP Allegedly Attacked By SECs Hinman For Ethereums Benefit "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The legal battle between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken a new twist as top lawyers accuse former SEC Director William Hinman of being paid to attack XRP in favor of Ethereum (ETH).

Following the release of Hinmans emails and drafts of his June 2018 speech, pro-XRP attorney John Deaton expressed his frustration with the intent of the released documents on a recent live CryptoLaw podcast.

Payments To Disparage XRP In Favor Of Ethereum?

Jeremy Hogan, lawyer and cryptocurrency expert, also weighed in on the matter alleging that former SEC Director of Corporate Finance, Bill Hinman, was paid to give a speech in which he declared that Ethereum was not a security.

According to Hogan, Ripple, a leading cryptocurrency company, has suggested that Hinman was paid by the Ethereum Foundation or someone related to Ethereum to give the speech and give Ethereum a free pass.

Hogans claims are based on email exchanges between Hinman and his colleagues, which reportedly show that Hinman had already named his first email the Ether speech before he began crafting the speech.

This, according to Hogan, suggests that right from the get-go, Hinman is saying that ETH is not a security, and that was the point of him making the speech.

Hinmans speech, which was delivered in 2018, was seen by many in the cryptocurrency industry as a landmark moment in which the SEC effectively declared that Ethereum was not a security.

This was seen as a significant victory for Ethereum and the wider cryptocurrency industry, as it provided clarity on how the SEC would regulate cryptocurrencies.

However, Hogan has suggested that the speech was not only a free pass for Ethereum but also an attack on XRP, which was at the time Ethereums biggest competition. Hogans claims are based on Ripples ongoing legal battle with the SEC, in which Ripple has argued that XRP is not a security and should not be regulated as such.

Hogans allegations are likely to fuel speculation about the relationship between the SEC and the cryptocurrency industry, and the extent to which the SECs decisions are influenced by external factors. However, it is important to note that Hogans claims are based on speculation and have not been proven.

Percentage Of ETH Addresses In Profit Reaches 5-Month Low "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The brutal bear market in crypto over the past few months has taken a serious toll on ETHs price and profitability. The price of Ethereum has been stuck in a sideways range recently, and many ETH holders have been unlucky for it. According to data from Glassnode, the percentage of Ethereum addresses in profit has now dropped to a 5-month low.

Percentage Of Addresses In The Green Drops To 55.414%

Back in 2021, when the price of ETH was at its highest, the majority of addresses held a comfortable position. Now, two years later, for new investors who bought at higher prices, the wait for their positions to go green again has been a long one.

Glassnode, a crypto analytics platform, reports that the percentage of Ethereum addresses in green while measuring over a 7-day moving average is now at a 5-month low of 55.414%.

ETH profitability

This indicates that more than 44 percent of the people who own ETH are currently at a loss. In the same vein, the number of profitable addresses has dropped to its lowest point since March of this year, standing at 56,311,171.899 at the moment.

Moving ETH Off Exchanges

The amount of ETH held on cryptocurrency exchanges has also dropped to its lowest level in over 5 years. This means less ETH is available for trading on exchanges, which can impact the price and liquidity. Traders are withdrawing their ETH from exchanges and holding it in private digital wallets.

The drop can also be linked to an all-time high level of staking in the ETH 2.0 deposit contract. Data shows that the majority of ETH held by large investors are now moving ETH into the contract, showing that interest in ETH staking is growing. This declining supply, coupled with increasing mainstream interest in ETH, could drive the price higher i...

Roman Mausoleum With Mosaics Excavated in London "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Roman Mausoleum With Mosaics Excavated in London

Roman London was a thriving metropolis and outpost of empire. Known as Londinium, it was founded around 43 CE when Roman troops invaded England. They built the earliest London bridge, as well as temples, bathhouses, palaces, and more. The remains of this ancient cosmopolitan network still lie below the modern city, and are often discovered during building projects and archeological digs. Recently, a rare mausoleum was unearthed in London's Southwark neighborhood in the Liberty of Southwark site. This incredible find includes mosaics, stairs, and other fascinating relics.

The excavation site has previously yielded impressive mosaics. The Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) on behalf of Landsec and Transport for London (TfL) conducted this most recent dig which encountered the mausoleum. The building consists of a mosaic floor, raised platforms, walls, and even stairs leading up to another mosaic. It appears the ancients may have built a second, raised floor above the original lower mosaic. Over 100 coins, pottery shards, roofing tiles, and metal fragments were uncovered, too.

The site was likely a burial ground for wealthy Roman Londoners. However, coffins have not yet been uncovered. This relatively small site in Southwark is a microcosm for the changing fortunes of Roman Londonfrom the early phase of the site where London expands and the area has lavishly decorated Roman buildings, all the way through to the later Roman period when the settlement shrinks and it becomes a more quiet space where people remember their dead, says Antonietta Lerz, senior archaeologist at MOLA. While The Liberty of Southwark will be a commercial complex, there are...

Border Collie Missing After Car Crash Is Found on a Farm Herding Sheep

While some pups are lapdogs, others love to perform their job. Sheepdogs, for instance, have such strong herding instincts that it's not uncommon to hear about dogs trying to group children together. Tilly is a border collie and heeler mix not raised on a farm. But after a car accident separated him from his family, he was found starting a new life among sheep.

The car crash happened on the state highway near Rathdrum, Idaho. Although no people were harmed, Tilly was ejected from the truck's rear window and ran away into the grass after being spooked by the commotion. His owner Linda Oswald was worried about his safety and quickly shared the incident on social media to spread the word. Mike and I were in a car accident, Oswald wrote. We are good but my dog Tilly is missing. He was thrown out and was seen running north.

Two days later, Tilly was finally found in a much different environment. Travis and Zane Potter were attending to their farm when they noticed an extra sheepdog in the field. It wasnt like, Oh, where did this dog come from, how did it get here?' Travis Potter said. I think that dog was trying to herd.

After finishing his stint as a working sheepdog, Tilly was safely returned to his family. Hell herd anything, Oswald commented. When I go to the dog park, he tries to herd the people into one group. We're happy to hear that Tilly is safe and sound.

Bitcoin Bullish Momentum Building: Expert Predicts Rise To $27,200 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Bitcoin has been on a rollercoaster ride recently, with sudden price drops and spikes keeping investors on their toes. Last week, the cryptocurrency failed to break through its $27,500 resistance level and dropped to a low of $24,700.

However, Bitcoin has again shown signs of regaining its bullish momentum, with a 5% increase in the last 24 hours and trading at $26,400 at the time of writing.

Many analysts have predicted a continuation of the uptrend in Bitcoins price, which has been ongoing since January 2023.

Bearish Momentum Fades As Bitcoin Retests $26,500

According to Glassnode co-founder Yan Allemann, the current stage in this trend is the retesting of the $26,200 level as bearish momentum fades.

Allemann believes that this is an important stage, as it will determine whether Bitcoin can break through its previous resistance and move toward the next target of $27,200

However, while Bitcoin is showing signs of regaining its bullish momentum, its important to recognize that it is still fragile at this level. Therefore, building confidence among investors is crucial to sustaining Bitcoins upward trend.

On a positive note, BlackRocks recent application with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its new exchange-traded fund (ETF) has given Bitcoin holders and bulls hope.

As reported by NewsBTC, the recent announcement of BlackRocks Bitcoin exchange-traded fund has the potential to impact BTCs price significantly. If approved, this ETF would enable a wider range of investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin, which could drive up demand and ultimately increase its price.

ETFs provide a convenient way for institutional investors to access Bitcoin, creating a new demand avenue for the cryptocurrency. This could increase buying pressure and a potential surge in Bitcoins price.

Potential BTC Reversal From Support

Bitcoin has recently bounced from its bullish trend and the top of its range, indicating that it still has some work to do before establishing a sustainable upward trend.

According to market analyst Crypto Con, one of the most accurate indicators of Bitcoins bullish or bearish momentum is the 140-day moving average (MA), which shows that BTCs price is below this crucial level.

The 140DMA is a widely followed indicator in the cryptocurrency market, as it clearly signals whether Bitcoin is in a bullish or bearish phase.

When BTCs price is above the 140DMA, its a bullish signal, indicating that the cr...

Visions of a Nuclear Apocalypse? Why Are so Many people Having Them? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Seeing the Bomb, Imagining the Future: Allegorical Vision in the Post ...

Today I was checking out some YouTube short videos and noticed the number of those who have had disturbing dreams of a coming nuclear war. Several people claiming that Biblical predictions have been increasingly coming true in recent years are now saying that we are headed to an insurmountable rendezvous with destiny, and its not going to be good. This is not like the cold war where we had grown accustomed to vague threats and predictable confrontations that would soon de-escalate. We are fast arriving at increasing tensions, huge numbers of warships and military aircraft in close proximity, and heated rhetoric by the Chinese government readying their forces for a major conflict.

Our enemys perceptions of our present situation

What hot spots are we seeing today that differ from the cold war? To say that we have a Biden Administration that has emboldened enemies of the US would be a major understatement. How much can we actually believe Joe Biden when he claims that America has a commitment to Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion? Will it turn out like Afghanistan where we left hundreds of Americans behind enemy lines not to mention loyal Afghans who would surely be executed by the Taliban as well as 85 billion in US weapons and hardware?

Lately, China has been conducting live fire exercises along international coastal regions of Taiwan. These maneuvers include forming a naval blockade closing access to Taiwan via the high seas. The renewal of military incursions into the ADIZ (Air Defense Identification Zone) of the Formosa Island nation has increased tensions. The US Navy 7th Fleet has maintained a formidable presence in the South China Sea and has conducted patrols through the Taiwan Straits and this appears to enrage the Chinese even more though these are international waters. The USS Milius, a missile destroyer on routine patrol through the Paracel Islands caused quite a stir with the Southern Theater Command of the PLA.

Spiritual U-Turn: Are Youth in the Middle East Embracing Religion Again? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

While countries such as the United States are seeing a decline in religiosity and certainty about belief in God, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is seeing a significant resurgence in religiosity, particularly among the countrys youth.

Thats according to the new results of the Arab Barometers seventh wave of surveys, conducted between 2021 and 2022. These surveys by the nonprofit research network aimed to get a view of rates of religious observance among those living in the Arab world.

The vast majority of the citizens in the countries surveyed by the Arab Barometer described themselves as religious or somewhat religious. However, significant portions of people identified as not religious. Tunisians (27%) and Libyans (24%) were the most likely to say they were not religious, followed by Lebanese (19%). In all the other countries, only one out of ten people or fewer said they were not religious.

The rate of Libyans and Tunisians who said they were not religious in 2021 and 2022 differed from the fifth wave of surveys the Arab Barometer conducted between 2018 and 2019. During those times, 31% of Tunisians and 25% of Libyans said they were not religious.

This trend of increasing personal piety among citizens of countries in the MENA region was also seen in other countries like Algeria, Egypt, and Morocco. Only Lebanon consistently increased the number of people who said they were not religious, rising from 14% in 2018-2019 to 19% in 2021-2022.

Everything Is Already There: Javier Maras on the Courage to Heed Your Intuitions "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

This has nothing to do with premonitions, there is nothing supernatural or mysterious about it, whats mysterious is that we pay no heed to it.

Everything Is Already There: Javier Maras on the Courage to Heed Your Intuitions

It starts with a tremble in the stomach, a palpitation in the chest. You may call it intuition, premonition, foreboding. You may press it down with the firm fist of rationalism. And yet it persists, this flutter of feeling this haunting sense that the future is not about to happen to you, but is already happening in you.

For all the marvels and flaws of our intuition, we expend immense cerebral and emotional energy on repressing these emissaries of our secret knowledge these deep truths we perceive about ourselves and others, which we would rather not see and not heed in order to keep the surface of our lives unruffled. It is only in hindsight that we recognize their sharp validity, so blunted in the moment by our compulsive rationalizations, our comforting denials, and our willful blindness.

That is what Javier Maras (September 20, 1951September 11, 2022) explores in some stunning passages from his 2002 novel Your Face Tomorrow (public library).

American Belief Crisis: Why More People Are Ditching God Than Ever Before! "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A new survey discovered that only half of all Americans are sure of the existence of God, revealing the dynamic and changing religious landscape in the United States.

This was only one of the significant findings gathered by the General Social Survey, released last May 17th by NORC, the research organization for the University of Chicago. The results of the 2022 survey were in contrast to the trends from previous decades, where 60% of Americans were sure that God existed as recently as 2008.

NORC also found that 34% of Americans never attended church, the highest figure recorded in five decades of surveying. Its findings align with those of other research organizations, such as the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), where a new study concluded that the percentage of non-religious Americans increased to 27% in 2022, compared to just 19% in 2012 and 16% in 2006.

Although the number of religious Americans saw a sharp decrease, data from NORC showed that three-quarters of Americans believed in an afterlife, a number that remained stable over the years, which also showed that many Americans remained spiritual.

NORC, widely considered a gold standard of surveys of faith and religion among religious scholars, also showed that since 2000, the number of Americans who were certain of a God's existence decreased from 61.85 in 2000 to just 49.63 in 2022.

The decreasing trend of organized worship goes back generations, even if church attendance, membership, and belief in God experienced a decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. The General Social Survey found that 29% of Americans were not affiliated with any religion in 2021, up from 23% in 2018 and 5% in 1972.

United by Love: Taiwan's Step Toward Equality With LGBT Adoption Rights "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

After making history as the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, the self-ruling island of Taiwan made another milestone in LGBTQIA+ rights when it allowed LGBTQIA+ couples to jointly adopt a child neither of them are related to, marking another first in a region where gay rights are largely repressed or ignored.

Taiwan passed a bill last May 16th giving same-sex couples the right to adopt, effectively clearing a hurdle to marriage equality in the East Asian country. It was passed after the country banned making it the most progressive country for gay rights in Asia-Pacific.

Fan Yun, a lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) who was among those that initiated the legal change, celebrated the passage of the bill and said she was very excited that we granted joint adoption rights to same-sex couples today.

Legally, we have finally returned same-sex couples to their children, Fan Yun added. Parental love is the same, and only through joint adoption can we protect the rights and interests of each other by law.

The Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights, a group that advocates for LGBTQIA+ rights in the country, also celebrated the legal change and described it as a significant change towards achieving full marriage equality.

Todays success shows that the consensus in Taiwan is to protect the human rights of LGBTI peoples and promote gender equality, the group said in a statement.

Birthplace of Martyrs: The Afghan Valley that Idolizes Its Suicide Bombers "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The transition from insurgency to governance was never easy for the Taliban when it seized power in Afghanistan after a coalition of foreign forces led by the United States fled in 2021.

Some of the Talibans fighters were so used to jihad and fighting they reportedly felt bored when they had to switch their weapons to paperwork. In an Afghan valley that raised some of the organizations best and most ardent fighters, some regret that they havent fulfilled their duties as suicide bombers for the Taliban.

One of these former fighters is 25-year-old Ismail Ashuqullah, who hailed from the lush green Tangi Valley in the eastern part of Afghanistan. The newlywed former Taliban fighter, like many young men from this region, had been fighting with the Taliban for years and missed the chance to perform his duty as a suicide bomber.

"When I was informed by my superiors that I had to join the battalion, I was delighted that God had chosen me. I felt a lot of joy," Ashuqullah told the AFP, reminiscing the news that he would be joining the Talibans special unit consisting of suicide bombers after eight years of fighting with them.

"I was doing jihad, but it didn't satisfy me. So I thought I had to carry out an operation that could satisfy the hearts of Muslims around the world, and mine too." Ashuqullah added.

Gift Cards for Terrorists: How an 18-Year-Old Tried to Fund ISIS! "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A teen from the United States was arrested for allegedly providing financial support to someone he thought was a supporter of the Islamic State through gift cards, which were intended to fund a supposed war on nonbelievers.

18-year-old Mateo Ventura from Wakefield, Massachusetts, was charged with intentionally concealing the source of material support or resources to a terrorist group. He appeared initially during a hearing held at a district court in Worcester on June 8th, where his request for bail remained pending. He can face a 10-year prison sentence and a hefty $250,000 fine if found guilty.

According to an FBI affidavit included in the court documents, Ventura sent about 25 gift cards with a face value worth $965 from August 2020 to August 2021 to someone he thought was a sympathizer for the terrorist group, who turned out to be an undercover agent for the FBI. Documents noted that Ventura was still a minor at that time.

However, authorities said Ventura continued to provide additional gift cards worth $705 between January and May after he turned 18. Prosecutors believed Ventura sent the gift cards so they could be sold on the dark web for slightly less than their face value to support the Islamic State group financially.

The gift cards Ventura provided ranged from $10 to $100 in value. While most of these cards were from Google Play Store, some were from other retailers, like GameStop, Amazon, and even Dicks Sporting Goods.

Using an encrypted online messaging app, Ventura expressed his desire to travel outside the United States and join the Islamic State terrorist group. He even purchased an airplane ticket to Cairo last April, but the affidavit by the FBI said he never departed, rescheduled, or canceled his flight.

The FBI affidavit also said the encrypted messaging platform...

Five Planets Will Parade the Night Sky This Weekend in a Rare Planetary Alignment

Telescope under a starry night sky

Photo: Olegkalina/Depositphotos

A marvelous astronomical event is taking place this weekend. Around sunrise on Saturday, June 17, a planetary parade featuring five planets will decorate the skies. Known by astronomers as planetary alignment, this phenomenon occurs when planets are located on one side of the Sun at the same time. This time, the planets stargazers will get to see are Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Three of the planetsMercury, Jupiter, and Saturnwill be visible to the naked eye. On the other hand, Uranus and Neptune can be tougher to spot, so you may need binoculars or a telescope to see them clearly. According to Star Walk, the alignment will take place within a 93-degree sky sector. This means that the five planets will appear closer together in a small area of the sky.

The best time to see the planetary alignment is about an hour before sunrise. Since summer is coming in a few days in the northern hemisphere, you may need to be out of bed shortly after 4 a.m., according to where you live. For example, on June 17, the Sun rises at 5:11 a.m. in Seattle, 5:24 a.m. in New York, and 5:41 a.m. in Los Angeles. While the phenomenon will be visible for a few more days, Saturday offers the best viewing opportunity before the New Moon arrives on June 18.

To spot the planets when you're out stargazing, a few bits of knowledge can come in handy. It may be easy to distinguish Jupiter because it will be the brightest celestial object in the morning sky until the Sun rises, Star Walk...

Time-consuming to create, expensive to buy, and precious to pass on, these books hold a certain fascination today. A new find suggests they may even provide insight into the history of comedy. Before there was Monty Python, there was Richard Heege. His manuscript is a rare record of a real-life performer's stand up comedy in the 15th century, and it includes the first recorded use of the phrase red herring in its modern meaning.

Cormac McCarthys work means a lot to me, though when I try to explain exactly what, I find myself unusually stymied; my affinity for him doesnt make all that much sense to me. What connection do I have with the landscapes he conjures? What knowledge do I have of the kind of violence that is the subject and the fabric of many of his books? She paused midway to look back. Standing there trembling in the water and not from the cold for there was none. Do not speak to her. Do not call. When she reached him he held out his hand and she took it. She was so pale in the lake she seemed to be burning. Like foxfire in a darkened wood. That burned cold. Like the moon that burned cold. Banning Tomato Sauce House She Banned Her Sister In Law From Her House Over Tomato Sauce? What Was She Thinking??

I know that there are some families that take their cooking and recipes especially those for sauce very seriously.

In this case, though, its the opposite of a recipe thats caused the issue, because OP has had to repeatedly ask her sister-in-law to stop trying to season food that shes not cooking.

The last tomato to fall off the cart was when OP had a whole bushel of tomatoes she was turning into sauce for different occasions. She hadnt seasoned any of the simmering pots because they would be used for different recipes in the future and would need to be tailored then.

I(28F) have an older brother(32M), he is married to SIL(33F). I get along with her well, except for this one point: if you dont keep an eye on her, she will get into the kitchen, and add seasonings to whatever is cooking. She thinks she is fixing stuff, but not all foods need turmeric in it.

This saturday, I received 40 lbs of tomatoes, it took me the whole weekend to turn it into a sauce that I was planning to can. I can it plain, then add whatever seasonings and herbs it needs, depending on the recipe.

Her brother and sister-in-law showed up to pick up some hand-me-down clothes, and while OP was out of the kitchen her SIL seasoned all of the pots with Italian seasoning.

They came to take a bag of spare clothes for one of their ki...

Curve (CRV) Observes 7% Bounce As Short Squeeze Occurs "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Curve DAO token (CRV) has observed a 7% bounce during the last 24 hours as mass liquidations of short traders have occurred in the market.

Curve Funding Rates Turned Extremely Negative Following Price Decline

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, an extreme amount of shorts had accumulated on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance recently. The relevant indicator here is the funding rate, which keeps track of the periodic fee that Curve perpetual contract traders on a specific exchange are paying each other right now.

When the value of this metric is positive, it means that the long contract holders are willing to pay a premium to the short contract holders in order to keep their position currently. Such a trend implies that bullish sentiment is held by the majority of investors.

On the other hand, negative values suggest that a bearish mentality is the dominant force in the market at the moment as the shorts are paying a fee to the longs.

Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Curve funding rates on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance over the past month or so:

Curve Funding Rates

As displayed in the above graph, the Curve Binance funding rate had assumed negative values recently as the cryptocurrencys price had continued to head downwards.

The decline in the assets price came in part because of all the FUD in the wider cryptocurrency sector, like the SEC charges against Binance and Coinbase, or the Fed interest rates decision, while the other factor was CRV-specific uncertainty.

The root cause of this FUD is the fact that the Curve Finance founder has taken up a large loan against a wallet that currently holds around 30% of the entire circulating supply of the token. As the price of the asset has taken a hit recently, concerns about this position getting liquidated have grown in the market.

Since the wallet holds such a significant part of the cryptocurrencys supply (288.7 million tokens to be precise), a potential liquidation could have wide-reaching consequences for the project.

From the graph, its visible that the Binance funding rate had become extremely red as this FUD spread around. This means that the sentiment on...

Service Therapy Dog Is Given Dogtorate by University of Maryland Baltimore "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Service Therapy Dog Is Given Dogtorate by University of Maryland Baltimore

Graduation is a big day for anybody, but it's especially exciting for a 5-year-old Rottweiler named Loki. The clever pup has been training as a service therapy dog while her owner, Dr. Caroline Benzel, was working through medical school. This Tuesday, she was awarded an honorary Dogtorate of Medicine by the University of Maryland Baltimore as recognition for her contributions to patients at the hospital.

Loki and Benzel both attended the special ceremony where the Rottie was named an official dogtor. It was a meaningful day for both dog and human after training so hard together. The week I got her was the same week that I was accepted to medical school, Benzel explains. So I started putting her through service-dog level training but I knew I was going to try to make her a therapy dog for the hospital.

So, while Benzel was studying medicine, her dog was also putting in the hours by treating hospital patients with her kind and calm demeanor. Her exceptional personality allowed her to work in many different environments, even areas with loud machinery. She could come into basically any part of the hospital that needed a therapy dog to come in, Benzel explains, and we would make sure that we're able to accommodate for everyone and everything.

Loki's performance at the hospital was also praised by Dr. Bruce Jarrel, president of the University of Maryland Baltimore. In fact, she was so impactful that the University of Maryland Medical Center is aiming to expand its therapy dog program so there will be more service dogs like her. I think just the idea of having a therapy dog come in especially when you're at a really trying time in your life truly makes such a difference for people, Benzel says.

The pawfect pair is now heading to West Virginia University where Benzel begins her residency. Loki will also cont...

Head Studies: A Conversation with Jameson Green "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

In Jameson Greens studio. Photograph by Na Kim.

Earlier this year, the Review commissioned the artist Jameson Green to paint a series of writers portraits for our new Summer issuean idea Green came up with after looking through our archives and being particularly intrigued by a portfolio of Picassos drawings published in 1987. What he gave us is a delightful collection of what he calls head studies, renderings of famous writers from our archivesome recognizable, some less sothat capture, loosely, something of each subjects essence. And, like much of Greens other work, Writers borrows from various art historical stylesyoull find, for instance, a Picasso-esque Percival Everett (or is it Edgar Allan Poe?) and Shirley Hazzard in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. Over the phone, we talked about his childhood obsession with cartoons and about the special attention portraits require, and I tried to guess who was who.

INTERVIEWER

Do you consider yourself a portraitist?

GREEN

I dont paint portraits regularly. But when I was learning to paint, I studied artists like Alice Neel and John Singer Sargent closely. Theyre very different stylistically, but theres a relationship in terms of their sensitivity to the humanity of the sitter. Those are people I call genuine portrait painterspeople like them and Diego Velzquez. The overall essence of the people he paints feels real. You need to have a special kind of attention to that essence to be a great portrait painter. I can get it on some occasions, but not always....
