Molly "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

A Sunday afternoon in early spring. Wed spent the morning quiet, in separate roomsme in my office, writing; Molly on the bed in the guest room, working too, so I believed. Id pass by and see her using her laptop or reading from the books piled on the bed where she lay prone, or sometimes staring off out through the window to the yard. It was warm for March already, full of the kind of color through which you can begin to see the blooming world emerge. Molly didnt want to talk really, clearly feeling extremely down again, and still I tried to hug her, leaning over the bed to wrap my arms around her shoulders as best I could. She brushed me off a bit, letting me hold her but not really responding. I let her beitd been a long winter, coming off what felt like the hardest year in both our lives, to the point wed both begun to wonder if, not when, the struggle would ever slow. I wished there could be something I might say to lift her spirits for a minute, but I also knew how much she loathed most any stroke of optimism or blind hope, each more offensive than the woe alone. Later, though, while passing in the hallway in the dark, she slipped her arms around me at the waist and drew me close. She told me that she loved me, almost a whisper, tender, small in my arms. I told her I loved her too, and we held each other standing still, a clutch of limbs. I put my head in her hair and looked beyond on through the bathroom where half-muted light pressed at the window as through a tarp. When we let go, she slipped out neatly, no further words, and back to bed. The house was still, very little sound besides our motion. After another while spent working, I came back and asked if shed come out with me to the yard to see the chickens, one of our favorite ways to pass the time. Outside, it was sodden, lots of rain lately, and the birds were restless, eager to rush out of their run and hunt for bugs. Molly said no, she didnt want to go, asked if Id bring one to the bedroom window so she could seesomething I often did so many days, an easy way to make her smile. I scooped up Woosh, our Polish hen, my favorite, and brought her over to the glass where Molly sat. This time, though, when I approached the window, Molly didnt move toward us, open the window, as she would usually. Even as I smiled and waved, holding Woosh up close against the glass, speaking for her in the hen-voice that Id made up, Mollys mouth held clamped, her eyes like dents obscured against the glare across the dimness of the room. Woosh began to wriggle, wanting down. The other birds were ranging freely, unattendedwhich always made me nervous now, as in recent months a hawk had taken favor to our area, often reappearing in lurking circles overhead, waiting for the righ...

UK Financial Conduct Authority Clamps Down on Crypto Marketing "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The UKs Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) recently proposed some strict new rules for how crypto companies can market their products and services to customers. If passed, the regulations would clamp down on misleading hype and unrealistic promises, requiring more transparency and balanced information.

According to a release by the FCA, the new rules, which will apply to first-time investors in the UK willing to purchase crypto assets, will require companies to introduce a cooling-off period from October 8, 2023. The FCA has also opened consultations regarding the matter until the 10th of August.

New Rules For Firms Promoting Crypto Products Or Services

Essentially, the FCA wants to treat cryptocurrencies as high-risk investments as part of its post-Brexit financial strategy revealed in February. In 2022 alone, the FCA forced firms to rectify 8,582 misleading promotions.

The regulator is concerned that crypto newbies dont fully understand the risks of these volatile, unregulated assets. With the value of major cryptocurrencies fluctuating wildly, those promoting crypto must also put in place clear risk warnings and ensure adverts are clear, fair, and not misleading.

According to the announcement, firms promoting crypto products or services will need to include a clear risk warning such as: Dont invest unless youre prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect to be protected if something goes wrong. Take 2 mins to learn more.

A comprehensive set of guideline consultations will be published, and it will clarify the rules that companies must follow to make sure that advertisements regarding cryptocurrencies are not misleading. In addition, promotions that appear to attract crypto investors, such as refer a friend programs, would no longer be allowed.

US Treasury Secretary Yellen Wants More Regulation

Regulators from big powerful nations are continuing to look for legislation considering that there are no regulations in place to oversee the cryptocurrency industry. Despite this, there has been no significant development so far.

Recently, Janet Yellen, the current Secretary of the United States Treasury and a former Chair of the Federal Reserve has voiced her concern over the lack of regulation in the cryptocurrency market. She contends that the United States Congress should be doing more to pass laws that will protect investors and curb illicit activity.

Month Long Composite Photo of Moon Phases Over Egypt

One dedicated astrophotographer was able to cross an incredible photo project off his checklist when he spent a month creating a lunar analemma, an asymmetrical figure-eight curve in the sky. This type of image often refers to the Sun, but can also be used by other celestial bodies. As they are very time-consuming and difficult to create, very few people have done so. Astrophotographer Wael Omar decided to create what he believes is the first analemma made by an Egyptian.

In layman's terms, an analemma is a diagram or photo that shows the position of a celestial body in the sky from a fixed position on Earth at the same mean solar time over a specific period. For the Sun, an analemma requires images each day for an entire year. For the Moon, the analemma can be completed over one lunar cycle, which lasts a month. In both cases, the resulting pattern is a figure eight, which is owed to the tilted, elliptical orbits of these celestial bodies.

To image the Moon correctly, Omar needed to research the proper position and then return each day, 50 minutes later than the last, to take his photograph. Not only did this require Omar to take off work, but he also had many sleepless nights waiting for the right time to take the photograph.

There were some cloudy nights, and I was a little lucky to see the Moon through [the clouds] when the time of the shoot came, he tells My Modern Met. I used a...

Millions of miles away from the Earth, the NASA Mars Rover Perseverance is collecting essential data that will help astronauts one day visit the Red Planet. For those that want to feel connected to this amazing piece of engineering, there is now a LEGO set that can help you recreate it on a smaller scale.

By assembling 1,132 LEGO bricks you can bring the rover to life in all its glory. The finished piece measures 9 inches tall and has 360-degree steering and a moveable arm. Additionally, like its real-life inspiration, the toy model can traverse uneven terrain with its six wheels and suspension. This allows for all sorts of imaginative play.

Makers can also download the Technic AR app for more information about Perseverance and its expeditions on Mars. It even shows what the weather is like on Earth's neighboring planet. Ive always felt passionate about space, and the design process let me explore my interest as I recreated the incredible engineering developed by the pioneering team at NASA, Luke Cragin, design at LEGO, says. We hope the models features and functions will help introduce young space lovers to the world of engineering and encourage them to reach for the stars in the future.

The Mars Rover Perseverance set will be available for purchase through the LEGO website for $99.99 starting August 1, 2023.

LEGO is releasing a new set based on the NASA Mars Rover Perseverance.

FUD Storm: Top 5 Market Losers In Heightened Uncertainty "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The market is currently experiencing a downturn fueled by an unsettling combination of FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt). Adding to this challenging situation is the recent lawsuit filed against crypto exchange giants Coinbase and Binance by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Both Binance and Coinbase were charged by the SEC of being unregistered exchanges that sold unregistered securities, including Binances own digital assets, BNB and the Binance USD (BUSD) stablecoin.

As a consequence of this disheartening news, Binances netflow on the Ethereum blockchain has plummeted to a staggering negative $776.8 million.

This event led to the crypto market dropping over 3% in the past 24 hours at the time of writing as significant cryptocurrencies slid, pulling the entire market downwards. Meanwhile, Bitcoin, for its part, continues to languish below the $27k region.

Thus, these top five cryptocurrencies are a must-avoid for investors if they want to stay in the green this week.

Top 5 Losing Cryptos Amid FUD Storm

PEPE

Once the bringer of significant gains to investors has now succumbed to the bearish forces of the market, according to Coingecko, the token is now down over 13% in the daily timeframe, following the market slippage that started this week.

The tokens current trajectory puts it on a path for more FUD for investors. At the moment, PEPEs price oscillates above the $0.00000101 support range. With the bearish sentiment in the crypto market right now, it will take some time before bulls can knock a zero out of PEPE.

Australian Bank Takes Stance Against Payments To Select Crypto Exchanges "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Due to concerns over the risk of scams, Australias largest bank, Commonwealth Banks (CBA), has recently announced the temporary delay of certain payments associated with crypto exchanges.

This decision arose after the United States Securities Regulator (SEC) sued two major global exchanges, Coinbase and Binance. This comes just a few weeks after another major Australian bank, Westpac, banned customers from transacting with crypto exchange Binance.

Commonwealth Bank Combat Scams, Prioritizing Customer Protection

On June 8, CBA disclosed its intention to decline or place a 24-hour hold on certain payments to crypto exchanges. Nevertheless, the bank has yet to specify which crypto exchanges or payment types would be impacted by these new measures.

According to a statement, CBA claimed that the measures theyve introduced safeguard their clients from scams associated with making payments to crypto exchanges.

The bank added that customers sending funds to crypto exchanges to purchase cryptocurrencies will have a monthly limit of AUD 10,000 ($6,650).

The general manager of CBAs fraud management services, James Roberts, said;

Consumer interest in cryptocurrencies has been increasing, and unfortunately, scammers globally are capitalizing on this trend and masquerading as legitimate investment opportunities or diverting funds into cryptocurrency exchanges.

James further emphasized that the limits on outbound payments to crypto exchanges and the 24-hour holds will help fight the number of scams and money lost by customers.

CBA said continual evaluation and monitoring would be conducted to assess the impacts of these scam response measures.

This recent security measure marks a significant reversal from its previous plans. Notably, in November 2021, the bank introduced crypto trading services through its CommBank app, holding millions of users.

During that period, the banks CEO, Matt Comyn, acknowledged the associated risks but emphasized the greater risks of not participating.  He stated that The sector and the technology [isnt] going away anytime soon.

XRP Very Important, Top Analyst Predicts Which Tokens Could Profit From The SEC War "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Despite the blow suffered by most of the crypto market, XRP continues to trade in the green on higher timeframes. The token is in a battle between the U.S. Securities And Exchange Commission (SEC) and payment company Ripple.

This legal battle began two years ago but has become more relevant than ever as the regulator crackdown on the nascent sector. The event has attracted speculators and traders looking to profit from its outcome.

With the SEC filing two new lawsuits against crypto exchanges Binance and Coinbase, XRP could benefit from a positive result, and other tokens could record a positive correlation. In other words, if XRP wins in court, other tokens will follow a similar trajectory.

As of this writing, XRP trades at $0.52 with a 2% loss in the last 24 hours. In the previous week, the token recorded a 3% profit as the market collapsed, with Binance Coin (BNB), Cardano (ADA), and Solana (SOL) experiencing sharp corrections.

Trading The SEC War, Why XRP Is Key

The SECs lawsuits put Binance Coin (BNB), Cardano (ADA), and many more coins under the spotlight. These cryptocurrencies could be deemed securities in the United States, thus rendering most crypto exchanges unable to offer them for a while.

Binance.US has begun pausing trading on this and other crypto asset securities, as the regulator calls them. As a result, their prices have been suffering and could continue to see downside pressure in the short term.

According to pseudonym analyst Daan Crypto, some of the tokens targeted by the SEC could rise again to benefit those traders willing to take the risk. Via Twitter, the analyst wrote:

I think there might be some smart people that know whether these coins will come out on top or not and might get some amazing...

If you spend a lot of time around parents or you ARE a parent, then you know the deal.

What did AskReddit users have to say about this?

Take a look and see what you think.

Telling girls to give boys a pass.

Telling girls that they should be patient and understanding because boys are immature. Its so wrong.

Your little brother broke your favorite toy? You should forgive him; boys are immature! The teenage boys next door are making creepy comments about your growing body? Just ignore them; boys are immature! Your big brothers never do chores at home?

Do it for them; boys are immature! No one respects you? Thats because boys are immature! Just shut up and dont complain!

Having expectations that are unrealistic.

My parents are so supportive and encouraging, and I love that about them. But sometimes when parents expect a lot from you and hold you to a high standard, its exhausting and could lead to anxiety problems.

For example: when they expect you to achieve As in your studies, get into a good school, or even working on your masters degree.

Its exhausting to try to meet their expectations and satisfy them in that way.

Not respecting their boundaries.

Less Than 100 XRP Needed To Become A Millionaire? New Research Suggests "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Valhil Capital has published a new research paper assessing the fair value of XRP, and the results are astronomical. The private equity firm explains in the research paper, using six pricing models, that the fair value is somewhere between $3,500 and $21,900 per token.

So, as one community member pointed out, it would only take 77.9 XRP to become a millionaire at the median price of $12,822. Even at the most conservative projection of $3,500, 285.8 XRP would be enough to become a dollar millionaire.

XRP Price To The Moon?

Molly Elmore, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Valhil Capital, shared the whitepaper titled A Comprehensive Approach To Determine The Fair Market Value Of XRP via Twitter. According to her, the document is the result of an extensive two-year research conducted by a larger group of individuals, the confidential committee.

The origin of the effort was the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) lawsuit against Ripple, which raised the question: if the SECs lawsuit harmed retail investors, how could financial damages be calculated? To do this, Valhil Capital argues that it is necessary to examine the extent to which the lawsuit prevented the adoption of the XRP Ledger from realizing its intended use case.

Because of this, the concept of fair market value came into discussion, and how it differs from market value. To assess the fair value, the Confidential Committee formed a smaller Valuation Committee in the fall of 2022, composed of individuals who had experience with quantitative and financial valuations.

As a result, the Committee establishes six pricing models: Pipeline Flow Model, Athey and Mitchnick Model, 99-Year Golden Eagle Model, Discounted Cash Flow Model, Collateral Model, and a Quantum Liquidity Model. All models relate to various factors, including market conditions, supply and demand, and other relevant considerations.

A Kubrick Scholar Discovers an Eerie Detail in The Shining Thats Gone Unnoticed for More Than 40 Years "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Stanley Kubricks The Shining pulls off the uncommon feat of inhabiting a genre without falling victim to its vices. But exactly which genre does it inhabit? Horror? Meta-horror? Supernatural thriller? Psychological drama? Most of the pictures made for these broad fields of cinema share a dispiriting lack of re-watchability, especially those reliant on the device of the twist ending: M. Night Shyamalans The Sixth Sense, for example, which now, 24 years after its release, is enjoyed primarily as an artifact of its cultural era. But over the past four decades The Shining has only become a richer viewing experience, and one that continues to yield heretofore unseen details.

In the new video above (and an associated Twitter thread), Kubrick scholar Filippo Ulivieri exposes one such detail or rather, a whole series of them. Throughout his performance as the Overlook Hotels increasingly troubled caretaker Jack Torrance, Jack Nicholson keeps looking directly at the camera. Im not talking about when he looks at the camera because hes talking to someone else, says Uliveri. US Corporation buys time by extorting Thai gold, conning Chinese royals June 5, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CORPORATION managed to avoid default by extorting gold from the Thai Royal family and conning Chinese royals to hand over some of their gold. However, this stunt is not going to go unpunished and the Corporation is still going to be liquidated, multiple intelligence agency sources say. It is a mathematical certainty. As one commentator notes You cant borrow 7.3% of GDP from now until eternity and get away with it. A member of the dragon family says Chinese royals based in Taiwan were fooled by a fake King Charles who promised to fund massive humanitarian projects and also offered huge kickbacks. However, the Khazarian Mafia reneged on their promises as soon as they got the money. The dragon family now says they did not sanction this deal and promised to take certain counter-measures. The other thing that happened was the King of Thailand, who is being held in hostage in Germany, was forced to trade gold belonging to the people of Thailand for worthless US Treasury bills, according to Thai royal family sources. Presumably, the fact his eldest daughter has been in a medically induced coma since January had something to do with the blackmail. In addition to this, on the day the US debt ceiling deal was announced official Chinese news outlets were bragging about promises they extorted from their American debt slaves. For one thing, Xinhua proclaimed The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement took effect on Fridayfor all 15 mem...

Shiba Inu Hits Crucial Barrier How This May Impact Investor Sentiment "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Shiba Inu (SHIB) has found itself in a challenging position as it grapples with a prolonged downward trend, reaching a critical support level that investors have anxiously awaited. The popular meme coin, known for its adorable dog-themed branding, has struggled to reverse its declining price trajectory in recent months.

Despite the initial hype and enthusiasm surrounding SHIB, the coin has faced an uphill battle in the volatile market of digital currencies. As the price continued to backpedal, the community of SHIB holders and supporters looked to the long-awaited support level as a potential turning point for the beleaguered cryptocurrency.

However, the road to recovery remains uncertain, with SHIB struggling to regain its former glory.

Shiba Inu: Final Destination Support Is Reached

Shiba Inu has finally reached what market observers have dubbed its Final Destination support level, a significant price point of $0.000008 that has long been regarded as a crucial roadblock for a potential trend reversal.

A lot of people were anticipating a big spike in the price of SHIB, seeing it as a turning point for the token. They were expecting a spike that would mark a turning point and take SHIB to greater heights.

But despite periodic outbursts of excitement and temporary rallies that fueled optimism, the token has struggled to make any real headway. SHIB holders are at a crossroads, uncertain about the future direction of the cryptocurrency, due to the absence of persistent upward momentum.

The meme coin is under more scrutiny than ever before, and investors are being prompted to rethink their approaches in light of this crucial juncture.

The $0.000008 level holds particular significance as it is considered a robust support level that has historically acted as a springboard for price recoveries.

The failure of SHIB to gain momentum and break out significantly from this crucial support level has left investors and analysts uncertain about the tokens future trajectory...

Las Vegas family claims to see aliens after several report something falling from sky "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Picture
On the evening of April 30, 2023, several people across eastern California, Nevada, and Utah reported seeing a flash in the sky around 11:50 p.m. what follows is that a man in Las Vegas called 911 to report that he and his family had witnessed something falling from the sky and crashed in their backyard. They also claimed to have seen two moving creatures in their backyard.
911 call:

Caller: There's like an 8 foot person...beside it and another one's inside and it has big eyes and it's looking at us and it's still there

911: Ok, where is this on your property

Caller: In my backyard, I swear to god this is not a joke. This is actually, we...we...we're terrified

911: So there's two people or... two subjects that are in your backyard?

Caller: Correct and they are very large...they're like 8 foot, 9 foot, I don't know, they look like aliens to us. Big eyes...they have big eyes, like, I can't explain it and big um, mouth, they're shiny eyes and, they're not human, they're 100%, they're not human

911: Okay
Around 11:50 p.m., the Las Vegas Metro police arrived at the scene for investigation: See the body camera video (obtained by the 8 News investigators) from both of the officers which shows one officer walking into the backyard to investigate but Metro police blacked out that part of his body camera video citing privacy laws.

The mystery deepens when considering that, even after more than a month of investigation, it remained unclear what exactly had crashed or landed in the family's backyard.

The blacked-out portion of the body camera footage due to privacy laws adds another layer of intrigue and raises questions about the nature of the event. It's unclear why privacy laws would be a concern in this particular case.

A strange story which leaves room for speculation and further investigation. Where is the crashed object, where are the two aliens.

Isn't it a coincidence that within one week, first a whistleblower claimed that US military is hiding UFO retrieval program and now people see aliens in their backyard. I think that the whistleblower case and the Las Vegas case is a set...

Children or Brides? Exposing "Forced Puberty" in Syria "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A new report published by TinyHand, an independent digital news platform for covering stories of children in conflict and crisis zones, reveals the horrifying practice of forced puberty across camps in Northern Syria, an area beset by decades of war and a devastating earthquake last February 2023 that displaced millions and killed thousands.

The media outlet interviewed a number of girls and women, as well as professionals like social workers, a lawyer, and a pharmacist, for this comprehensive investigation. They also used pseudonyms to hide the identity of the people they interviewed.

One of the girls they interviewed included Samar, a 16-year-old girl from northern Syria. Through a secret phone call a midwife arranged, she recalled how her father forced her to take pills in their tent in Salqin in northern Syria when she was 14 to speed up her puberty in hopes that she could get married to someone.

Once I had my period, I was forced into marriage, Samar told TinyHands.

However, the plan to force her into puberty had disastrous results since her husband divorced her after only a year and a half of marriage after Samar became pregnant but lost the baby.

Cases like Samar, where young girls are forced into puberty through hormonal pills or being injected with hormones, were brought to the public in 2020 thanks to Inaam, a humanitarian worker since 2015 who wished to stay anonymous even though she was an influencer in northern Syria.

Inaam accidentally discovered cases of forced puberty among Syrian girls when she joined a technical working group for sexual reproductive health in 2020. There, she initially worked to uncover instances of sexual abuse and violence against women until she heard the story of a 12-year-old girl forced by her father to take pills to fasten her period from a midwife.

From there, Inaam found that parents in camps for refugees and the displaced in northern Syria did not only force their daughters to take hormonal pills or injections but also beat them on their backs, thinking this process would also help speed up their puberty.

The Health Directorates of Idlib and Aleppo banned the sale and use of hormonal injections and drugs without a prescription after the United Nations Population Fund...

Canadian Imam Declares "We Are Commanded By Allah To Hate the Disbelievers" "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A Canadian imam delivered a speech describing disbelievers as living like animals and claimed Allah commands Muslims to hate them.

The imam, Younus Kathrada, made these remarks during a sermon he delivered at the Muslim Youth Victoria Islamic Center on May 26, 2023. The video of him saying these comments was transcribed and shared by the Middle East Media Research Institute or MEMRI.

During the sermon, Kathrada claimed that Allah, which legislated Islam for us, according to the imam, called Muslims to hate, to reject, and to detest the disbelievers. However, he made an analogy connecting the hatred for Muslims and hating other things, like broccoli.

And here, let me just pause for a second. If I hate broccoli, does it mean that I am going to smash it all up and not allow anybody to eat it? the imam reasoned.

He also attempted to clarify his comments on hating disbelievers by saying that hatred, while sometimes leading to violence, isnt necessarily connected or similar to, or even leads to violence.

"When I say I hate something or someone let's say that I hate someone it means I hate them because of something that they stand for, for example. But it does not in any way, shape, or form indicate violence. Hatred is not equivalent to violence. Hatred might lead to violence, but not necessarily. Kathrada insisted.

What does at risk of needing a caesarean actually mean? "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

What does at risk of needing a caesarean actually mean?

I often hear and read comments about women being, at risk of needing a caesarean.

But theres so much to unpack in that statement!

What do we mean by at risk?

What does need actually mean?

And who determines the existence or degree of both of those things?

Risk and need

You may already be aware that the notion of risk is pretty unstable and dependent on who is doing the labelling. I have lots of resources on risk here if youd like to explore it further.

What about need?

Well, if you ask the dictionary, you will find that need means that something is essential to us rather than desirable.

So when I (like so many other people, because we often use this word to express irony or just out of habit) declare that I have a need for chocolate or wine, Im probably not being as accurate as I could be.

I do need to drink fluid to survive.

I dont necessarily need that fluid to be chilled prosecco.

Pedantic, but important

How many of the women who have a caesarean really needed that caesarean in order to enable them to survive?

Theres no way of knowing for sure, but probably very f...

Saudi Female Influencer Faces Unimaginable Penalty for Advocacy Posts "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Authorities in Saudi Arabia arrested and jailed a popular female fitness instructor for her posts on social media, becoming the latest victim of the crackdown against dissent in the Muslim-majority kingdom.

The accused was identified as 29-year-old Manahel al-Otaibi, who posted fitness videos on her Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat accounts. According to court documents seen by the Associated Press, which first reported the case, she was charged with defaming the kingdom at home and abroad, calling for rebellion against public order and societys traditions and customs, and challenging the judiciary and its justice.

She was also accused of wearing indecent clothing and using Arabic hashtags that reportedly said overthrow the government in her posts. Even though al-Otaibi has been in prison since November 2022, her case gained prominence after activists in Saudi Arabia chose to go public.

Her case will be handled by the kingdoms Specialized Criminal Court, which was initially created to hear terrorism-related cases but now also hands verdicts against activists. While it remains unclear how long al-Otaibi will stay in prison for her charges, activists fear she will be given a lengthy sentence.

Al-Otaibis case is a testament to the strict limits in the ultra-conservative kingdom when it comes to freedom of expression and speech, even for al-Otaibi, who supported Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salmans (MBS) decisions to introduce more liberal reforms in the country. Her social media posts included support for liberal dress codes for women, LGBTQIA+ rights, and the abolition of male guardianship laws in Saudi Arabia....

Bitcoin Is Reportedly Trading At a $2k Premium on Binance.US "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

According to sources on June 6, Bitcoin is trading at a $2,000 premium on Binance US, an exchange the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims is controlled by Changpeng Zhao and Binance Global.

According to screenshots widely circulated on Twitter, BTC, at one point, was reportedly trading at $28,505, a price level that was roughly $2,000 higher than the global BTC average of around $26,500 at the time.

Bitcoin Trading At A $2,000 Premium on Binance US

From price charts, Bitcoin remains volatile even at spot rates. Less than 24 hours after slumping to as low as $25,900 on June 5, the coin reversed losses on June 6.

Bitcoin Price on June 7| Source: BTCUSDT On Binance, TradingView

Yesterday, the price of BTC surged, reaching levels as high as $27,000. This upward movement contradicted the bearish forecasts that analysts had previously made for June 5. Additionally, this positive price movement helped alleviate concerns that the SEC lawsuit against Binance would hurt the value of BTC.

Tumbling Bitcoin and crypto prices on June 5 coincided with accusations from the US regulator. The SEC listed 13 charges against Binance, including that together with the Binance US, the exchange allegedly enabled US citizens to illegally trade a wide range of cryptocurrencies.

Moreover, the SEC pressed that Binance and Binance US were unregistered trading platforms that continue to offer multiple unregistered offers and investment schemes aimed at defrauding equity, retail, and institutional investors about purported surveillance and controls over manipulative trading.

In response to the SECs lawsuit, on-chain data from Nansen shows that investors have continued to pull billions worth of crypto assets from Binance Global and Binance US.

The analytics platform observes that over $3 billion of assets from multiple chains have been withdrawn from Binance. Out of this, over $1.3 billion was from Ethereum.

Meanwhile, Binance.US has suspended its over-the-counter (OTC) trading platform and reduced the number of supported trading pairs.

Ethereum Price Consolidates Below $1,900: What Could Trigger A Sharp Decline? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum price is moving lower from the $1,900 resistance against the US Dollar. ETH could decline heavily if there is a clear move below the $1,800 support.

  • Ethereum is still struggling to clear the $1,900 and $1,920 resistance levels.
  • The price is trading below $1,880 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.
  • There is a major bearish trend line forming with resistance near $1,855 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD (data feed via Kraken).
  • The pair could still struggle to clear the $1,900 resistance zone.

Ethereum Price Dips Again

Ethereums price started a fresh increase from the $1,775 zone. ETH climbed above the $1,850 resistance but the bears were again active near the $1,900 zone, similar to Bitcoin.

A high is formed near $1,898 and the price is now moving lower. There was a break below the $1,850 support zone. The bears pushed the price below the 50% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $1,777 swing low to the $1,898 high.

Ether is now trading below $1,880 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. There is also a major bearish trend line forming with resistance near $1,855 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD.

It is now holding the $1,820 support and the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $1,777 swing low to the $1,898 high. Immediate resistance is near the $1,855 zone and the trend line. The next major resistance is near the $1,900 level or the recent high.

Ethereum Price

Source: ETHUSD on TradingView.com

A proper move above the $1,895 and $1,900 resistance levels might send Ether toward $1,920. The next resistance sits near $1,950, above which Ethereum could rise toward $2,000. Any more gains above the $2,000 resistance zone might send the price toward the $2,040 resistance.

Celebrated French Artist Franoise Gilot Dies at 101 "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Prolific French artist Franoise Gilot died at age 101 last Tuesday, June 6, her daughter Aurelia Engel confirmed. Gilot was reportedly suffering from heart and lung problems when she passed at Mount Sinai West Hospital in Manhattan. In addition to her widely celebrated art practice, Gilot is well-known for her decade-long relationship with Pablo Picasso and is even more revered for leaving him.

Gilot was born in Paris in 1921 to businessman and agronomist Emile Gilot and watercolorist Madeleine Renault-Gilot. She grew up in Neuilly-sur-Seine with her family, and against her fathers wishes, she decided at age five that she would become an artist, beginning art lessons with her mother two years later. Gilot became alienated from her father during her university years, switching out her international law course with art classes behind his back during the late 1930s ahead of World War II. By 1941, she had left the law track entirely to devote her time to her art practice and was introduced to Picasso through a friend in 1943, when she was 22. Gilot gave birth to the...

A Walk in Frdrique Luciens Winter Garden "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

PARIS Frdrique Luciens exhibition Jardin dhiver at Galerie Jean Fournier speaks to her continuing engagement with both the sculptural representation of the body (most often her own) and the malleable forms of the botanical world. Lucien typically operates at the intersection of painting, drawing, and sculpture, and this installation offers examples of them all. A jardin dhiver is a winter garden an orangerie,  greenhouse, or conservatory a place that allows plants to grow out of season and out of their normal context. In this exhibition, Lucien draws the outlines of delicate, complicated natural forms intertwined flowers, seed pods, stems, and leaves.

These forms are then cut out of sheets of aluminum, brass, or copper their dimensionality is flattened and overlapping parts are merged. The use of metal transforms the abstracted immateriality of a drawing into something with a different sort of presence and physicality a flat, rigid form that can be either attached to the wall individually or in groupings, set on the floor and leaned against it, or suspended in a line from a bar. The negative space of the cutout can also be used, the leftover metal rectangle framing an image of the plant form on a white wall. (The rectangle is often raised a bit off the wall so that a fine dark shadow line of the plant becomes another depictive element.) Pushing up against the delicacy of the cut metal works are big, brash collaged paintings of these same flat forms, scaled up and executed in black, white, and metallic pain...

NYC Art Institutions Close Amid Air Pollution Concerns "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Several art museums and cultural institutions in New York have closed their doors and barred off outdoor sections as record-breaking air quality alerts hit the northeast. A cloud of thick yellow smoke has blanketed New England and the tri-state area as a result of the uncontrolled wildfires ripping through the Canadian forests from coast-to-coast this week. Yesterday evening, NYC reported among the worst air quality of any major city in the world; residents are urged to wear masks and limit outdoor activities.

The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, Queens, will be closed today, June 7, for the remainder of the afternoon. The outdoor Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens has also closed as of 3:30pm, citing air quality concerns. BRIC issued a...

Stunning Images of Artists Creating Their Masterpieces Are Visualized With AI

Digital Paintings by Anthony Maggio

By using the AI art generator Midjourney, artist Anthony Maggio creates images of sculptors at work that look remarkably realistic. These images depict men and women focused on the task of bringing their art to life. Each sculpture emerges from the stone as a three-dimensional figure.

One of the traits that stand out in Maggio's work is the intensity between the artists and their creations. Each person seems completely attuned to their sculpture, resulting in a concentrated expression and focused atmosphere. I love showing the interplay of creators being affected by their creations, Maggio tells My Modern Met. I like to focus on the themes of interconnectedness and passion.

The works of art within these AI-generated pieces resemble sculptures and reliefs from science-fiction or fantasy. They possess a high level of detail and wear imaginative costumes reminiscent of a magical world. I've been really inspired by artists like Fabrizio Galli and other such sculptors that can take the fantastical and make it real, Maggio adds.

You can purchase prints and merch of Maggio's work via Redbubble and find out how you can commission the artist by messaging him on Instagram.

What Mindset the Government Wants You to Have "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for Jimmy cater's failed presidency

We saw it happening as far back as the Jimmy Carter presidency when the peanut farmer scolded Americans as being lazy and deserving the suffering of the rest of the world. When he began to impose the centralized economic control and fuel shortages that caused a nation to nearly come to a halt. It was Carter who would be responsible for the future shock of the 2008 Real Estate Bubble when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac both went bankrupt and had to be bailed out. The federal governments mortgage guarantee giants that Barack Obama proclaimed were too big to fail did. All of it could be traced back to the CRA (Communist reinvestment Act) which awarded unqualified home buyers to get mortgages who never should have been awarded these loans simply because of the color of their skin. In the years to come the mounting defaults caused a major failure in the banking system. Under the aegis racial equality government intervention proved fatal.

You are required!

In each ensuing Democrat administration more and more we have seen how government does more damage than good, but for the public to submit to this kind of economic debauchery there is a required mindset by the general public or the illusion wont work. That requires a certain set of mentally deficient intellectual traits required by our masters. In order for you to accept the madness you must be conditioned. That conditioning comes with an indoctrination process that started when you were in public school. The omission of American history and exceptionalism, the non-requirement for civics, the de-emphasis on critical thinking, all played a role in your lobotomy. You were being prepared to be a good obedient citizen.

The next phase was either further brainwashing on college campus or if you didnt get that college loan you expected would be forgiven so that the taxpayers could suffer the burden, then you went into the workforce. Since your federal government needs you to be compliant, to never question their Machiavellian schemes or false narratives, you must be easily distracted, watch the mainstream media news which is in bed with Washington DC and never giving you the real details, and you must have faith in the corrupt government that you would only put in God because big government has now become your God! Heroic Sherpa Rescues a Hiker From a Crevasse on Mt. Everest

Photo: Screenshot from Instagram

Many hikers dream of conquering Mt. Everest. Although multiple people have made it to the top, the trek is extremely dangerous, and things can go sideways pretty quickly. That's why it is virtually impossible to climb Mt. Everest without a Sherpa. Not only do they break a trail ahead of mountaineers and carry vital supplies such as O2 and fuel tanks, but they also risk their lives to keep everyone safe. A video that has gone viral shows the dramatic rescue calmly carried out by Tashi Lakpa Sherpa after a hiker fell through a crevasse.

The footage, shared by Sherpa himself, shows him with a shovel in hand after freeing a man and securing him to a rope that will get him pulled out of the crevasse. The space is of claustrophobic proportions. The experienced mountaineer barely fits in, even with his arms glued to his body. Despite the conditions, Sherpa smiles and happily assists the hiker, who seems to have taken a fall several feet deep.

Safe one more life on [Mt. Everest]. Sherpa wrote on Instagram. As the CEO and founder of 14 Peaks Expedition, Sherpa provides expedition services to those wishing to climb Mt. Everest. A lover of mountaineering himself, he has conquered several peaks in the Himalayans and other regions, like Mount Vinson, the highest mountain in Antarctica. He often shares his adventures and celebrates the victories of thrilling expeditions on Instagram.

Emerging into a New World, Small Figures Explore Seonna Hongs Dreamlike Landscapes "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Two very small women walk along a landscape at the bottom left of the painting, with voluptuous orange and blue in the backdrop

Atmospheric River (2023), mixed media on canvas, 30 x 24 inches. All images Seonna Hong, courtesy of Hashimoto Contemporary, shared with permission

Connection and interaction are at the heart of Seonna Hongs latest body of work, which positions minimally rendered figures amid abstract landscapes. Through patchy brushstrokes of acrylic and oil pastel, the Los Angeles-based artist contrasts the opaque colors of the subjects limbs or garments with the rough, mottled environments they occupy. Generally diminutive in comparison to their surroundings, the figures remain anonymous and adventurous, exploring ethereal expanses. Voluptuous fields of orange, large stones in pinks and reds, and mountains of haphazard markings appear like distant figments of a dream.

The works shown here are on view this week as part of Murmurations, Hongs latest solo show at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York. Comprised of vibrant paintings and drawings in grainy colored pencil, the exhibition reflects the experience of re-emerging into public space following the pandemic. Firmly in discovery mode, the figures traverse the unearthly landscapes and tempestuous weather events and convene with each other as they form new bonds between humanity and nature.

Murmurations is on view through July 1. Find more from Hong on her site and Ins...

Firefighter Rescues 2-Year-Old From Burning House, Gets to Meet the Boys Son 23 Years Later "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Firefighter Rescues 2-Year-Old From Burning House, Gets to Meet the Boys Son 23 Years Later

We hear many hero stories about saving lives but that's usually where the narrative ends. We may take some time to praise those who took action, but we rarely get to see the lasting effects of the hero's deeds. That's why it's been enthralling to hear the story of Xavier Dimples. When he was 2 years old, his house caught fire, trapping him inside. The toddler nearly died during the conflagration; however, a brave firefighter named Jeff Ohs rescued him from the flames and resuscitated him after getting him out of the wreckage. Now, 23 years after this dramatic incident, they had a moving meetup, and the fireman got to see the happy repercussions of having saved a life that day.

Dimples shared his story on Twitter, posting side by side pictures of him as a toddler in Ohs' arms after being saved, alongside a present-day image. I ended up dying that day & this firefighter, Jeff Ohs, saved me from that building & brought my back to life, the man writes, thanking the fireman profusely. Yet, the highest praise came in the form of being introduced to a little someone. The fireman got to meet Dimple's 2-year-old sonthe same age the new dad was when he was saved from the fire. Now 23 years later he is holding my 2 year old son. I literally wouldnt be here without him.

The young man also added that being rescued from the fire didn't mean peril was over for him. After I was resuscitated I was in a coma for a month after that, he shares. Dimples also posted a couple of pictures of the dramatic moments in which Ohs brought him back to life on the yard of his hom...

Freddie Mercury Photo at a Queen Concert Has Him Surrounded by Smoke Shaped Like the Queen

Theres an element of luck with every photo snapped. After all, you never entirely know what your picture will look like when you press the camera shutter, especially when youre shooting on film. It's a gamble that can result in an amazing image that makes you feel like you won the jackpot. This idea is highlighted in a photo shared by Sarah Simkins, who posted a picture that her mom took in 1978. (Simkins originally said 1979, but later found the original Queen ticket stub that said 1978.)

The incredible image is of a Queen performance, in which Freddie Mercury is singing as smoke rises behind him. It's got a mystical, almost otherworldly feel that's made even more sublime by the shape of the plume. The smoke, Simkins notes, looks just like like a profile view of Queen Elizabethand it does! It creates a resulting photo that captures Mercury's energy while also reminding us how the external elements of the show can add to its overall experience, both in person and on film.

According to Simkins, her mom took a chance when snapping the photo. She snuck her 35mm camera into the show when she was just 16 years old, and she was able to capture three photos on the sly. The other two photos also feature Mercury in his element, with one image using colored lights as a unique graphic element.

Sharing the viral photo gave Simkins the opportunity to tell the internet more about her mom. She was not a photographer, Simkins explains, she actually joined the conservation corp after [high school] and worked building trails/fighting forest fires in kings canyon! Then became a triathlete and did the Ironman on her honeymoon. She was one of a kind.

Sadly, her mom suddenly passed away at the end of 2021. Simkins cant ask her any more questions about the photos, but shes left with the memories. music was one of our greatest...

Yes, tattoos are expensive.

The woman lives in Canada and started off her first video with a clip from another customer who also clearly had a terrible experience at this particular tattoo shop.

The woman said that the artist went back on her word about the initial price for covering up some old tattoos, delayed appointments, and then changed her entire pricing structure.

And this was after an initial appointment just to talk to the artist that cost her $180.

The Action of Love: A Conversation between Charif Shanahan and Morgan Parker "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Charif Shanahan and Morgan Parker. Photographs by Rachel Eliza Griffiths.

I read Charif Shanahans Trace Evidence two ways: first as a new work by a friend, written through and about what I know to have been some of his most harrowing years, during which he recovered from a near-fatal bus accident in Morocco, and also as the second collection of a phenomenal early-career poet with a dangerously skilled command of craft. I read it as an intimate reader, and as a distant one, and both times, I experienced a sense of introduction. When we talked on Zoom, Charif told me the book feels like a birth, and that feeling of birth, or rebirth, permeates Trace Evidence, as a deepening and an extension of the questions in Shanahans first collection, and as an announcement of self and purpose that feels brand new.

Morgan Parker

PARKER

I love the last line of Trace Evidence, the books titular poem: For us here now I will be the first of our line. Its such an exhilarating sentence. Can you tell me about that idea of deciding to be a beginning?

SHANAHAN

It is only we who get to tell others who we are, even whenand perhaps especially whenwe are inside a system that empowers those around us to tell us who we are. Put another way, choice and agency are questions Im thinking about in this book. I think the agency here, inside that pronouncement, is in moving deeply into what had already been waiting for me. One could call it an acceptance, but it required first a clearing of the fog such that I could see this reality and not exactly choose it, but choose to name it and step into it and inhabit it. One of the things you and I have talked about a lot is how layered my family story is as regards race. It wasnt just white parent, Black parent; it wasnt just light-skinned, dark-skinned; it wasnt just American Blackness, non-American Blackness; it was all these things at once. That was part of what was so challengi...

A Taste of How It Feels to Be Free: Pioneering Psychoanalyst Karen Horney on Our Inner Conflicts, the Psychology of Hopelessness, and the Path to Wholeness "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The most comprehensive formulation of therapeutic goals is the striving for wholeheartedness: to be without pretense, to be emotionally sincere, to be able to put the whole of oneself into ones feelings, ones work, ones beliefs. It can be approximated only to the extent that conflicts are resolved.

A Taste of How It Feels to Be Free: Pioneering Psychoanalyst Karen Horney on Our Inner Conflicts, the Psychology of Hopelessness, and the Path to Wholeness

To be human is to be divided yet indivisible a totality of personhood constantly sundered by conflicting impulses and desires, violently pulling us in opposite directions, paralyzing us with the inability to move ahead toward happiness and wholeness. When we are in conflict we tend to make such sharp oppositions between ideas and attitudes and get caught and entangled in what seems to be a hopeless choice, Anas Nin wrote in her diary as she contemplated inner conflict and the measure of maturity, but when the neurotic ambivalence is resolved one tends to move beyond sharp differences, sharply defined boundaries and begins to see the interaction between everything, the relation between everything.

The supreme challenge of human life is that we are much more opaque to ourselves than we like to admit mighty subterranean rivers of emotion and motive course beneath the reasoned surface of our conscious beliefs, values, and desires. Neurosis might be an old-fashioned word, but it is useful shorthand for the tension that arises from these conflicting facets of our experience that leave us unsure of what we want, what to want. For all his groundbreaking contribution to the understanding of those subterranean currents, Freuds great error was his pessimism about the mutability and treatment of our neuroses to him, the cards were dealt in early childhood and the game of life played out deterministically. His tragedy was his lack of faith in human growth and human goodness Freud was the supreme cynic of the psyche.

Kayla Mahaffey Envisions the Self-Discovery of Adolescence Through Vibrantly Energetic Paintings in Acrylic "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A young girl with pink braids holds a hummingbird on her finger with a black snake grasping her wrist

Pure Intentions, acrylic and aerosol on linen, 24 x 24 inches. All images Kayla Mahaffey, shared with permission

Childhood naivete and nostalgia have always grounded Kayla Mahaffeys imaginative paintings, but today, the Chicago-based artist considers what happens in the next stage of adolescence. My previous work centered around more innocent times and how those outside influences (good or bad) interacted with us and how sometimes we remained in a state of bliss and oblivion, she tells Colossal. As I get older and as the children in my work grow, I want to move into a direction of awareness and ask the question, When was the turning point in our lives when we started to notice the bad things, and how did this affect us?'

This act of self-discovery and growing awareness of the broader world are shaping Mahaffeys new works. Continuing her use of vivid color and energetic movement, the artist has toned down the cartoon details that once created daydream-like commotion for her young subjects, and shes instead gravitating toward weightier and more ominous themes, including the tension between life and death. Dead birds and sinister snakes appear, while one figure grasps sharp clippers and another cries large, heavy tears.

SEC Files Emergency Action Application To Freeze Binance.US Assets "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The SEC just dropped a bombshell on Binance.US, the American arm of the worlds largest cryptocurrency exchange. The regulator filed an emergency action application against Binance.US to freeze its assets, as part of the regulators recent crackdown on the crypto exchange.

Protecting Customer Funds On Binance

According to the documents filed with the court, the request was brought forward with the intention of ensuring that the assets of Binance.US clients are safeguarded and kept in the United States. At least pending the outcome of the ongoing litigation being conducted by the SEC.

The filing is also looking to activate other emergency relief against Binance Holdings Limited, the arm of the exchange operating globally, and its founder, Changpeng Zhao. This is coming after news broke out on Monday, June 5, that SEC brought 13 charges on Binance.US and its billionaire founder, Changpeng Zhao, saying the company broke US rules by offering securities in the form of cryptocurrencies.

According to the charges, the exchange had no oversight or controls to ensure that the assets are properly secured.

What Does This Mean For The Industry?

Basically, the SEC is arguing Binance.US has been illegally facilitating the trading of securities. As the biggest exchange in the world, this has got many investors feeling a bit rattled and confused about what it all means. However, Binance is not the only target of the SEC. The commission also went after Coinbase, alleging that popular cryptocurrencies offered by the exchange qualify as securities.

A big part of the crypto community seems to be unified on the matter, as many investors see this as an attack on the entire crypto industry. Of course, Binance.US and Coinbase deny all allegations, with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong tweeting that the SEC has taken a regulation by enforcement approach that is harming America.

Stay SAFU

Binance seems to be calm on the matter as in response, the exchange released a statement saying we intend to defend our platform vigorously, although it will continue to cooperate with regulators and policymakers in the U.S. and across the globe.

Changpeng Zhao also took to Twitter to announce that if the order is granted, it would only affect funds under Binance.US, and not the global Binance.com.

Things also seem to be level headed, as faith in crypto platforms remains strong. However,...

Moscow Says Ukraine Blew Up The Kakhovka Dam As Revenge "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Russia is accusing Ukraine of blowing up the Kakhovka dam as revenge for a failed offensive. The act of sabotage may lead to very serious consequences, Kremlin spokesman Peskov has warned.

The dam was partially destroyed early on Tuesday morning, sending a surge of water downstream and flooding towns and villages along the path of the Dnieper River.  Over 1300 people were evacuated after the dam failed.

Ukrainian forces have sabotaged the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam in Russias Kherson Region in a bid to deprive Crimea of drinking water and distract from Kyivs faltering counteroffensive, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed on Tuesday according to a report by RT.

We are talking about a deliberate sabotage by the Ukrainian side, Peskov told reporters according to The New York Times. This sabotage could potentially lead to very serious consequences for several tens of thousands of inhabitants of the region, environmental consequences, and consequences of a different nature, which have yet to be established.

Experts said a deliberate explosion inside the dam, which has been under Russian control since early in the war, most likely caused the massive structure of steel-reinforced concrete to crumble. Moscow blamed Ukraine, calling the blast an act of sabotage, but did not elaborate on how it might have been done. Mr. Zelensky said Russian forces had blown up the dam to use the flood as a weapon.

This sabotage is also connected with the fact that, having launched large-scale offensive operations two days ago, the Ukrainian armed forces are not achieving their goals, Peskov continued. Russias Defense Ministry has said it repelled several large-scale attacks in the southern sector of the front in recent days. These offensive actions are choking, Peskov stated. RT

Ukrainian officials have also said that in addition to the humanitarian crisis, the flooding would cause a widespread ecological disaster. Mr. Zelensky said an oil slick of at least 150 tons was being washed out to the Black Sea and that untold chemicals, fertilizers, and oil products in the flood regions would end up in the rivers and the sea.

What America Can Learn From The Defenders Of Ukraine

In my recent trip to Ukraine I was astonished to see that the primary driver of new innovations in the conflict was entrepreneurs and small business owners. As an entrepreneur, I know pivoting and creative problem solving is the only way to survive. So of course that mindset is helping the Ukrainians combat the Russians. []
