SEC Files Emergency Action Application To Freeze Binance.US Assets "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The SEC just dropped a bombshell on Binance.US, the American arm of the worlds largest cryptocurrency exchange. The regulator filed an emergency action application against Binance.US to freeze its assets, as part of the regulators recent crackdown on the crypto exchange.

Protecting Customer Funds On Binance

According to the documents filed with the court, the request was brought forward with the intention of ensuring that the assets of Binance.US clients are safeguarded and kept in the United States. At least pending the outcome of the ongoing litigation being conducted by the SEC.

The filing is also looking to activate other emergency relief against Binance Holdings Limited, the arm of the exchange operating globally, and its founder, Changpeng Zhao. This is coming after news broke out on Monday, June 5, that SEC brought 13 charges on Binance.US and its billionaire founder, Changpeng Zhao, saying the company broke US rules by offering securities in the form of cryptocurrencies.

According to the charges, the exchange had no oversight or controls to ensure that the assets are properly secured.

What Does This Mean For The Industry?

Basically, the SEC is arguing Binance.US has been illegally facilitating the trading of securities. As the biggest exchange in the world, this has got many investors feeling a bit rattled and confused about what it all means. However, Binance is not the only target of the SEC. The commission also went after Coinbase, alleging that popular cryptocurrencies offered by the exchange qualify as securities.

A big part of the crypto community seems to be unified on the matter, as many investors see this as an attack on the entire crypto industry. Of course, Binance.US and Coinbase deny all allegations, with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong tweeting that the SEC has taken a regulation by enforcement approach that is harming America.

Stay SAFU

Binance seems to be calm on the matter as in response, the exchange released a statement saying we intend to defend our platform vigorously, although it will continue to cooperate with regulators and policymakers in the U.S. and across the globe.

Changpeng Zhao also took to Twitter to announce that if the order is granted, it would only affect funds under Binance.US, and not the global Binance.com.

Things also seem to be level headed, as faith in crypto platforms remains strong. However,...

What America Can Learn From The Defenders Of Ukraine

In my recent trip to Ukraine I was astonished to see that the primary driver of new innovations in the conflict was entrepreneurs and small business owners. As an entrepreneur, I know pivoting and creative problem solving is the only way to survive. So of course that mindset is helping the Ukrainians combat the Russians. []

Volkswagens Electric Van Gets a Spacious Makeover for American Market "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Volkswagens Electric Van Gets a Spacious Makeover for American Market

North American Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Ever since Volkswagen released its electric van concept in 2017, North American consumers have been wondering when they'll have the opportunity to take one for a spin. While the ID. Buzz has been available in Europe since 2022, VW just announced a launch date for North America. And, along with that, they've also revealed a new, spacious design tailored for their American and Canadian customers.

Volkswagen unveiled a three-row ID. Buzz at an event in California, showing off its longer wheelbase, larger battery, and upgraded horsepower. These changes over the two-row European zero-emission alternative for anyone wanting to live the van life and travel around the continent.

With its 91 kWh battery and a rear motor that produces 282 horsepower, the North American ID. Buzz has all the power necessary to take to the open road. At the same time, it also includes the retro design touches that the beloved VW bus is known for. This includes an oversized VW logo, short overhangs, and the signature two-tone color palette.

At the same time, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is thoroughly modern. The floor-mounted battery not only saves space, but helps give the van better handling due to its weight distribution. Two LED screens keep the driver fully connected at all times and allow for control of climate and many car functions.

Interior of the North American Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Comfort is also a top priority, which is good news for anyone looking to travel far and wide with the ID. Buzz. Heated seats throughout, individual air vents, a heated steering wheel, tinted privacy windows for the back seats, and a removable center console with flexible storage are all designed with drivers and passengers in mind.

The zero-direct emission ID. Buzz is the spiritual reincarna...

LDO Leads Top Coins, Registers 6% Gains In One Day "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Lido DAO (LDO) price gains today suggest the bulls are determined to push it to the $2.5 mark as the broader crypto market cap increased in the last day.

LDO has joined the top-gaining coins today, June 7, with an over 6% price increase over the past 24 hours. The token closely follows PEPE, which has gained over 12% in the last 24 hours.

LDO Price Surge Amid Improved Market Sentiments

While LDO ranked 6th among top daily gainers, it scored second among top weekly gainers with a 13.48% price increase over the past seven days. Having a high of $2.45 and a low of $2.22, LDO is eyeing the $2.5 price level and might conquer it if the bulls continue to dominate the market.

According to CoinMarketCap data, Lido DAO has witnessed impressive price performances over the past 30 days. The token price has increased by over 36% in the last 30 days, 20.2% in 14 days, and 13.48% over the past seven days.

The crypto market seems bullish as investors anticipate the May CPI data, which the US Bureau of Labor Statistics will release on June 13. The inflation rate reduced to 4.95% in April from the 5.0% recorded in March against the 5.0% forecasted by economists. This shows that the Feds hawkish inflation-curbing strategy is taking effect.

Moreover, given the increasing recession and severe macroeconomic conditions, the Federal Reserve said it would pause the interest rates hike. And that has been reflected in crypto prices as Bitcoin prices pushed higher above $28,000. The sentiments appear higher still, even as investors anticipate the upcoming CPI data release.

At press time, the crypto market cap is up by 2.86%, while the total market volume has increased by 12.13%, rubbing off on most coins.

The effect of the crypto market volume increase on assets is evident on LDOs trading volume, which has increased by over 37% in the last 24 hours. Thats not all. According to Stelareum data, LDO total value locked (TVL) is up by 4.59%, against the 5.09% decline recorded on June 6. Lido Analytics also shows that LIDO TVL spiked 7.2...

Destiny: Yvonne Smith, Alien Abductions "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Yvonne Smith became concerned with victims of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD] in 1990. Upon graduation from the California Hypnosis Motivation Institute as a certified hypnotherapist, she immediately began to work with PTSD victims. She observed through hypnotherapy what many of her subjects described as a pattern of alien abduction or other close encounter experiences. Since group therapy would assist in their trauma recovery, Yvonne founded CERO [Close Encounter Resource Organization] in 1991, which conducts monthly meetings to this day. In addition to maintaining personal contact with her subjects, she has traveled extensively, lecturing about the recollections of her subjects close encounters described during hypnotherapy at M.I.T. and other American universities and conferences as well as several international conferences from Europe to South America . In the 1990 s, Yvonne traveled extensively with her abduction research colleagues Budd Hopkins, David Jacobs, Ph.D., John Carpenter, and the late John Mack M.D. as a participant in a lecture series. Comfortable in front of cameras, Yvonne s many television appearances have included programs such as the Montel Williams Show, History Channel, MSNBC, The Discovery Channel, Encounters, Sightings, Rosanne Barr, The Joan Rivers Show and The Leeza Show. In addition, well known radio hosts George Noory, Art Bell, Paul Harvey, Dr. David Viscott, Jerry Pippen, Joe Montaldo, and Sweeps/Radio Ireland have all had Yvonne as their special guest. Yvonne has frequently been a consultant to producers, directors and actors for film and television programs. Having her residence turned into a television studio for many hours has been a common occurrence. In CHOSEN , Yvonne has taken the time to reveal explicit and dramatic transcripts of subjects describing, during hypnotherapy, their recollections of alien encounters and abductions.

Fall fashion might seem ages away, but sneakerheads are anticipating a particular piece of footwear set to release in autumn. Though the season is mostly associated with the reds, oranges, yellows, and browns of fallen leaves, Nike has recently announced a new Nike Dunk Low in an Oil Green colorway. The first pictures of this sneaker has caused a wave of excitement, already deeming it a coveted pair shoes.

Though this olive green color scheme has thrilled footwear fanatics, the iconic design (originated by Peter Moore) features four complementing colors within its design: Oil Green, Cargo Khaki, White, and Light Bone. Constructed in a full leather build with mesh tongues and lining, the four hues are distributed in a sleek yet laid-back look. The laces, tongues, tongue labels, insoles, rubber outsoles, and the NIKE embroidery on the heels are all olive green. Meanwhile, the Swoosh, heel tabs, and inner lining are all light bone to contrast with its white midsole and the dark olive green rubber outsole, making for a balanced composition.

The Nike Dunk made its debut in 1985. Since then, dozens upon hundreds of colorways have been released to the market throughout the years. While it's usually the celebrity collaborations and more limited releases that usually catch the publics attention, it seems people simply cant resist the casual elegance of the Nike Dunk Low Oil Green.

If you want to add the Nike Dunk Low Oil Green to your fall sneaker rotation, they'll be coming to select retailers, Yankeekicks, and Nike.com for $110 later this year. To stay updated with a potential release date and learn more about Nike's new releases, you can visit their website and follow them on...

Remarkably Detailed Resin-and-Wire Hairpins by Sakae Mimic Elaborate Wings and Petals "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A hairpin shaped like a luna moth.

All images Sakae

Continuing a millennia-old Japenese tradition of kanzashi, Tokyo-based artist Sakae (previously) constructs intricately detailed hairpins from wire and resin. In their earliest and simplest form, kanzashi were made of a simple stick or rod meant to protect the wearer from evil spirits. Over time, they evolved to include combs and a wide range of materials, becoming widely popular during the Edo period when hairstyles became more elaborate.

Sakaes contemporary iterations connect to her rich cultural heritage, adorning customary hairstyles during special occasions like ceremonies or weddings. She creates the luminous surfaces of insect wings, flower petals, and dew drops by using dip resin, a type of liquid material that can be applied between strands of wire and solidified with heat.

Sakae periodically sells her pieces via auction, which you can find updates about on her website and Facebook.

Final Message from Dr Rashid Buttar "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

TRANSCRIPT Of course theres going to be a second wave but its not going to be from the virus, its going to be from the vaxxine-induced injury, which will compounded by the fear that theyve created, which will be further compounded by the introduction of new technology, i.e., the 5G, which some people are saying is going to cause COVID of course, its not going cause COVID but the science is clear that it causes a disruption in the voltage-gated calcium channels, causing a permeability to many different pathogens, especially enveloped viruses, of which coronavirus is one of those types but for any type of pathogen. So, this is what the concern was back then and of course, weve seen that that happened and the multiple waves that came out. Well now, theres something thats going to be taking place and Ive had multiple confirmations of this and actually, heard a video and talked to one of the parties that had put that video out and to say that at least, its disturbing. But Im going to go ahead and just read this to you and some of you may have already heard about this. So essentially, what appears to be coming down the pipeline is that, what has been introduced, as far as the vaxxines, as we know them, the COVID vaxxines, regardless of the type. They have introduced into individuals through these vaxxines and through these subsequent boosters, other components. We have all heard of some of these components. Weve heard about the nanotechnology and of course, theres the spike protein, there are all these different things that have been found. Theres been the graphene oxide, graphene hydroxide. Theres been all sorts of different things that have been found within these vaxxines a...

Bitcoin Contrarians Win As Rebound Occurs Against Crowd Expectations: Santiment "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Data from Santiment suggests that the latest Bitcoin rebound took place after most investors had given up on the idea of it happening.

Bitcoin Observes Rebound After Buy The Dip Crowd Goes Silent

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, calls for buying the dip had mostly disappeared right before the actual rebound. The indicator of interest here is the social volume, which measures the total number of social media text documents that mention a given topic or term.

The text documents here refer to a collection of posts/threads derived from various social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter, Telegram, and 4chan. Note that the metric only cares about whether such posts make at least one mention of the given term, and not exactly how many times they do it.

This means that even if a thread mentions the topic several times, its contribution to the social volume still remains one unit. The benefit of this restriction is that it provides a better picture about the trend being followed in the whole sector, as only a few posts with a lot of discussion cant skew the total in their favor this way.

Now, in the context of the current discussion, cryptocurrency-related talks where users call out to buy the dip are of relevance. So, Santiment has taken the social volume of the entire digital asset sector and has then filtered it specifically using terms related to buy and dip.

Here is a chart that shows the social volume related to this topic broken down for each of the major social media platforms:

Bitcoin Social Volume

As displayed in the above graph, right after Bitcoin and the rest of the market had crashed due to the news of SEC suing Binance breaking out, the social volume for discussions related to these terms had observed a large spike on Reddit and Twitter.

This would imply that users had become hyped and had started calling for buying the dip as soon as the price plunge had occurred. As it turned out, however, there wasnt any price rebound just yet, and BTC rather continued to go down after the market had become excited.

As the coin continued to move mostly sideways over the next day, though, the discussions related to buying the dip started to die out. Thats when the...

How My Bitcoin Mining Firm Is Surviving Crypto Winter, Again "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Sergii Gerasymovych, CEO and Co-Founder of EZ Blockchain, a bitcoin mining company focused on using wasted and underutilized energy.

Weve been here before. This is the second crypto winter for my company, which produces Bitcoin mining containers.

In this article, I will share the story of how our Bitcoin mining company survived its first crypto winter, and is now surviving its second (as well as the worlds ongoing energy crisis), and what we think will happen with the energy and crypto mining industries in the future.

Our First Crypto Winter

Our company was launched in the first quarter of 2017 as a data center hosting solution with a mission to bring the best technology to Bitcoin miners.

We suffered a knock-on effect and initiated widespread redundancies as we struggled amid the looming cryptocurrency crash of the time. But we were still young, so our company had little to lose. We had only five employees and we had to learn to survive, mainly by managing cost and operating in a lean and mean way.

Surviving Our Second Crypto Winter

We arrived at the second crypto winter as one of the world's largest Bitcoin mining container producers (producing 10 containers every week). We have been one of the pioneers in utilizing wasted flared gas energy for Bitcoin mining and had built 10 cryptocurrency mining facilities across eight states and Canada, operating with more than 200 megawatts (MWs) of power.

But 2022 was among the most challenging years for us and the entire Bitcoin mining industry. It was characterized by declining bitcoin prices and rising energy costs, influenced by the energy crisis provoked by the war in Ukraine. Many mining companies declared bankruptcy, and those that survived had to reconsider their operations.

Some companies managed to survive in a year-long crypto winter, one that is arguably not over yet, record mining difficulty and completely-frozen funding. From my six years of experience running a Bitcoin infrastructure company, there are a few solutions I can share that I hope will help others or offer insight into how resilient Bitcoin mining can be. This should not be considered a panacea for market downturns or managerial advice, but simply what I have learned for myself.

First, We Called Our Power Providers

The bull run over the last few years has shown that Bitcoin miners prioritize acquiring miners over securing relationships with utilities.

But we believe that prioritizing the securing of p...

Chainlink Bulls Must Uphold This Critical Support Line For Potential 8% Rally "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

At present, Chainlink (LINK) continues to witness further losses, with the altcoin experiencing a decline of nearly 7% in the past 24 hours. This depreciation has led LINK to touch its lowest point in several months, primarily driven by the overall weakness observed in the broader market.

On the weekly chart, LINK has lost approximately 4% of its value. Although there has been a slight recovery from the nearest support, the technical analysis of LINK still suggests a bearish outlook. Demand and accumulation indicators have also declined on the chart.

As Bitcoin begins to recover, moving back into the $26,000 range after a drop into the $25,000 zone, altcoins have also initiated their respective recovery processes. However, the sustainability of this recovery relies on the return of demand and buying confidence in the market.

Related Reading: Ethereum Price Regains Strength But Key Downtrend Resistance Intact

For LINK to experience significant price growth, it needs to surpass its overhead resistance level. Since encountering strong resistance at the critical level of $8.70, bears have dominated the market, resulting in intensified selling pressure and the breaking of significant support levels. Currently, the market capitalization of LINK remains low, indicating a lack of buyers in the market at the time of writing.

Chainlink Price Analysis: One-Day Chart

Chainlink

At the time of writing, Chainlink (LINK) was trading at $6.17. As Bitcoin rebounded to the $26,000 level, LINK also experienced a bounce from its support level of $6. The immediate overhead resistance for the altcoin was $6.36.

If this resistance level is surpassed, Chainlink could potentially reach $6.70, leading to a significant rally of 8%. However, its worth noting that prevailing market weakness could still cause LINK to depreciate further at the time of writing.

In such a scenario, a drop from the cu...

Funny Portraits of Pets With Disgusted Expressions Beg the Question, Who Cut the Cheese?

Dog Photos by Belinda Richards

Photographer Belinda Richards captures the unique personalities of cats and dogs through her soulfuland often funnypet portrait photography. One of her latest series highlights the inherent humor of animals and her expertise in showcasing their personalities on camera. The collection of images titled Who Cut the Cheese? (it means exactly what you think) features 19 dogs and one guilty-looking cat. Each creature has an expression of disgust on its face, whether its an upturned nose or squinting eyes to indicate that it smelled something bad.

This project was inspired by my love for capturing the unique personalities of my canine clients and my desire to bring humor and delight to the viewer, Richards explains. I carefully chose each shot to build a narrative and as you view these images, I hope you will experience a sense of amusement and delight as each dog's look of disgust is revealed, culminating in the cat's guilty expression when we find out who really did cut the cheese.

Pet parents know that their furry friend has a personality all its own, and Who Cut the Cheese? proves that. The variety of expressions is striking, as is Richards curation. Shes managed to showcase something new with each photo. From breed to breed, no two dogs are alike, and the kitty is in a league all its own.

So, did she act like a jerk?

Check out what she had and see what you think.

AITA for not cleaning a helping a child wipe ?

My friend (M30) was visiting me (F30) with his son ets call him Jacob. We were hanging out and decided to play some Mario Kart in the living room, while his son was playing a game on his Ipad.

His son then wanted to use the bathroom. Hes been here before and knows where to go. I dont have hildren, but I feel like children, around 5 or 6, should be able to wipe themselves, however my friend and his wife still clean him up and wipe him.

We have since stopped playing and were talking when we hear Jacob call out that hes done (meaning that hes waiting for someone to help him wipe). My friend groaned and didnt get up. He asked me if I could go clean up Jacob.

I looked at him with a blank stare which pi**ed him off. He scoffed and got up to go see Jacob. After a 10 minutes they both emerged from the bathroom. My friend looks livid and says that he has s**t on his shirt because of me. (I dont even want to know HOW he ended up with s**t on his shirt) and that I should have done it for him.

5 Ways to Improve as a Screenwriter "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Screenwriting is an art.  Some will say, no, it is a skill; others will say it is neither.  It is true that with prose fiction writing the writer has almost unlimited range in how they can present their story.  The ability to get inside a character's head and reveal all kinds of facets to the aspects of that character. The skill and art of screenwriting is the ability to express your story with emotion and drama while still conforming to the limiting structure of the screenplay itself.  Some screenwriters get stuck and feel so confined by the significant limitation of screenplay structure that they never evolve as a writer and ultimately give up.

Polygon (MATIC) Large Transactions Explode 742% Amid Latest SEC Attack "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Polygon (MATIC) recently experienced a sudden surge in large transactions. These sizable movements of funds on the network have caught the attention of market observers, prompting speculation about the motives and actions of cryptocurrency whales.

The catalyst behind this flurry of activity appears to be the recent lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Binance and Coinbase.

As regulatory uncertainties loom over the industry, the surge in large transactions on Polygon has become a key indicator of the strategies employed by these investors.

Surge In Large Transactions On Polygon Network Raises Speculation

Large transactions within the cryptocurrency market are often viewed as indicative of whales actions, serving as a glimpse into the strategies they are formulating.

According to IntoTheBlock, an on-chain analytics firm, large transactions are defined as those exceeding $100,000. The firm reports a notable surge in the volume of large transactions on the Polygon network, reaching $64.44 million, which represents a staggering 742% increase within the last 24 hours.

The surge in large transactions on Polygon occurs against the backdrop of a broader cryptocurrency market downturn. Following the SECs actions against the major crypto exchanges, most cryptocurrencies have experienced declines.

As regulatory uncertainties loom over the industry, market sentiment has been dampened, leading to widespread selling pressure and a decline in prices across various digital assets.

As of the time of writing, Polygons native token, MATIC, is trading at $0.804240, based on CoinGecko data. Over the past 24 hours, MATIC has witnessed a 2.8% decline, while the past seven days have seen a notable slump of 9.6%.

Behold the Microscopically Tiny Handwriting of Novelist Robert Walser, Which Took Four Decades to Decipher "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Robert Walsers last novel, Der Ruber or The Robber, came out in 1972. Walser himself had died fifteen years earlier, having spent nearly three solid decades in a sanatorium. Hed been a fairly successful figure in the Berlin literary scene of the early twentieth century, but during his long  institutionalization in his homeland of Switzerland from which he refused to return to normal life, despite his outward appearance of mental health he claimed to have put letters behind him. As J. M. Coetzee writes in the New York Review of Books, Walsers so-called madness, his lonely death, and the posthumously discovered cache of his secret writings were the pillars on which a legend of Walser as a scandalously neglected genius was erected.

This cache consisted of some five hundred sheets of paper covered in a microscopic pencil script so difficult to read that his executor at first took them to be a diary in secret code. In fact Walser had kept no diary. Nor is the script a code: it is simply handwriting with so many idiosyncratic abbreviations that, even for editors familiar with it, unambiguous decipherment is not always possible.

You gotta be careful out there with text messages, my friends

And this woman wants to know if she was out of line for showing her roommate the texts that his girlfriend sent her.

Was she a jerk?

Read on and see what you think.

AITA for showing texts to my roommate that his girlfriend sent me?

I rent a room in a house with my boyfriend and his best friend, Eric. We are all in our 30s and have lived in this home since college. Eric has a girlfriend, around six months, who stays over named Amanda. (Amanda doesnt live with us)

Last night we were all Star Wars fans, so we decided to binge-watch some episodes and get pizza. Amanda wanted to use her Disney+ account, but mine is already logged into the tv in the living room. We get our pizza, snacks, wine and beer. I left my phone in my bedroom because I like to unplug after work.

After movie night, I go see my phone before bed, and there are pages of text about how Amanda wants me to stop doing things for her man, including start using her Disney+ account on our tv. Im not allowed to cook or grab him things. The list goes on to where she accuses me of flirting with her man.

The thing is a ridiculous wall of text, and Im showing this...

Ethereum Price Regains Strength But Key Downtrend Resistance Intact "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum price recovered losses and traded above $1,860 against the US Dollar. ETH must clear $1,920 to start a strong increase in the near term.

  • Ethereum is showing positive signs above the $1,860 level.
  • The price is trading above $1,850 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.
  • There was a break above a key bearish trend line with resistance near $1,865 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD (data feed via Kraken).
  • The pair could still struggle to clear the $1,920 resistance zone.

Ethereum Price Trims Losses

There was a clear move above the $1,840 and $1,850 resistance levels. Besides, there was a break above a key bearish trend line with resistance near $1,865 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD. A high is formed near $1,898 and the price is now consolidating gains.

New Birthgap film shows how explosion in childlessness is driving population collapse "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Its a situation unprecedented in human history: most of the worlds people live in a country that has dipped below replacement rate, its population now spiraling downward. No place on earth is exempt from declining birth rates, including Africa, which is just a few steps behind the rest of the world.
The scenario is perhaps without exaggeration quietly apocalyptic. No society in history has been known to come out of that spiral, filmmaker Stephen Shaw explained in his documentary Birthgap, which explores the thoughts on childbearing of young women all around the world, and attempts to find the cause behind todays record-low fertility. The dip into the trend of population collapse seems to have crept up on us, with much of academia seemingly unaware of the phenomenon. And for most, the trend doesnt have a readily apparent reason. In Shaws interviews, which take place across the span of several continents, he is hard pressed to find someone who can explain, or even guess, how the world has arrived to this uncharted territory. Shaw, a data analyst, crunches numbers in search of an explanation, and uncovers a surprising finding: from about 1973 to 1978, a worldwide population decline has been driven not by changes in family size, but by an explosion of childlessness. Ripple CEO Blasts SEC Chair For Anti-Innovation Stance, XRP Bulls Remain Optimistic "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In a scathing critique of the Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) recent actions against the cryptocurrency industry, Ripple Chair Executive Officer (CEO) Brad Garlinghouse has accused the SEC Chair Gary Gensler of hypocrisy and desperation.

In a statement released on Twitter, Garlinghouse called Genslers claims to be pro-innovation laughable, arguing that the agencys recent lawsuits against Ripple and other companies are simply a distraction from their internal struggles.

Ripple CEO Claps Back At SEC Chair

Garlinghouse went on to criticize Gensler as an unelected bureaucrat who is flailing to mask the fact that he and his agency lack the power they so desperately crave. He suggested that the SECs crackdown on the crypto industry is misguided and ultimately harmful to innovation.

Furthermore, Ripple CEO Garlinghouse criticizes Gensler for trying to exert power that he doesnt possess and suggests that the agencys actions are ultimately futile.

On the same note, according to Yassin Mobarak, founder of venture capital firm Dizer Capital, the SECs aggressive approach may be an attempt to prevent a precedent-setting ruling against them in the Ripple case.

Mobarak suggests that the SEC may be expediting their attack plans to isolate any potential losses in the Ripple case and claim that they are specific to the facts and circumstances of that case, rather than applicable to the entire cryptocurrency industry. This would enable the SEC to avoid setting a precedent that could have negative implications for the industry as a whole.

These comments reflect the growing tension between the SEC and the cryptocurrency industry, with many companies feeling unfairly targeted by the agencys regulatory actions. The recent lawsuits against Ripple, Coinbase, and Binance have raised questions about the legitimacy of the SECs claims and the impact of their actions on the wider industry.

XRP Price Shows Resilience Amid Regulatory Uncertainty

XRP has had a tumultuous few weeks as increased regulatory scrutiny has put pressure on the entire crypto industry. After reaching a key level of $0.500 on May 30, XRP lost some of its momentum amid uncertainty about the future of the industry. However, the market has shown resilience, and XRP has managed to breach the $0.500 level once again.

As of the time of writing, XRP is trading at $0.5285, up 3% in the last 24 hours. This suggests that investors remain optimistic about the long-term prospects of the cryptocurrency, despite the challenges posed by regulatory uncertainty.

We now know that the policeman who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt in cold blood on camera was hidden at a military base for months! According to Julie Kelly the footage of what happened in Ashli Babbitt after she was shot is very disturbing, but so far with only a fraction of the footage reviewed, actions by the police were no where near the lies they used in testimony. Their actions were not of noble law enforcement doing their job but of operatives involved in entrapment!

Finally, a Movie That Understands the Lives of Artists "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Did you see that film about an art heist? The art market? That super famous genius? Not that one, the other one.

Movies about art promise insight into the elite, unwieldy world of creativity and commodity. Typically, the artist is presented in a romantic light, detached from reality either as a Annie who dreams of being plucked from the doldrums of side-gigs and obscure venues. The film Showing Up (2023), directed by Kelly Reichardt, uniquely tells a story of an artist working far from any monetary goals or God complex. It is a meditation on observing as a skill, making as habit, and the goal to simply sustain both.

Lizzy (Michelle Williams) is an artist who works as a receptionist at an art college in Portland, Oregon. In fact, all the characters in the story are artists, from Lizzys dad to her landlord, rendering the label creative a little less extraordinary than usual in film. Boy Cries Tears of Joy After Getting a Bat From His Father and Then Hits a Home Run

On the left, boy cries tears of joy after getting a green bat; on the right, he is seen at bat from afar, before scoring a home run

Photo: Screenshot from Twitter

The smallest things can make the biggest difference in a childs life. In a heartwarming video, a kid named Braheim Fowler received a seemingly simple gift from his father that absolutely moved him to tears. The young boy received a green baseball bat and couldnt contain his joy. In a full circle moment, not only did the child get to use it in a key moment of a baseball game, but his dad, Devon, caught the home run he hit with it.

The video introduces us to little Braheim in his baseball uniform. The boy thought his dad had forgotten about his 12th birthday, but it all quickly changes when he is presented with a rectangular cardboard box. As he opens it and discovers what's inside, his wide smile quickly turns to tears of joy. Happy birthday! his loving father says, asking him to not cry or else he'll cry too. After telling his kid to pull the gift out to let the world see, the proud father exclaims, I want to see some home runs. I love you.

And see home runs he did. About a year after he gave the green bat to his son, a magical occurrence took place. The dad was sitting on center field during one of Braheim's games. As if written for a movie, the boy hit a home run and the ball made its way right to where Devon was sitting. Sprinting with camera in hand, the proud father managed to catch the ball his son had just sent to the other side of the park, putting his team closer to victory.

As if the serendipity of the moment wasn't enough, the dad's thrilled reaction matches that of his son when he first got his baseball bat. I got it! Yeah! I caught it, Boo! Devon screams with prideful excitement. I caught it, baby! Thank you! Th...

Cosplayers often reimagine beloved characters from TV, film, and literature. Though cosplay is a very visual form of artistic expression, all characters originate from text, whether they're from a novel, a comic book, or a script. This includes characters from The Lord of the Rings books by J. R. R Tolkien, George Lucas' screenplays for the Star Wars films, and even Old Westerns on TV. The written word is what first breathed life into these beloved figures, and one designer found a way to pay homage to books. Kirsten of My Funky Camelot came up with a brilliant design that allows you to add books to any outfita thigh book holster. Made of leather, this clever accessory lets you bring your favorite paperback on an adventure, whether it's part of an elaborate outfit or just a clever way to carry a book on any given day.

Despite how practical they are, holsters have mostly been associated with guns since the mid-19th century. My Funky Camelot completely repurposes their functionality, though. Each design takes the ingenious concept of strapping a holster to one's body for the purpose of holding something far less lethal. My Funky Camelot's leather thigh book holster lets you strap your book to the side of your leg, keeping it within hand's reach whenever you feel like reading. Did we mention it will make you look like you're a literary hero?

The leather thigh holster was designed with small paperback books in mind, about 4 inches wide by 7 inch tall. However, the store assures that it can also accommodate trade paperbacks and is adjustable for thick to thin books....

Sinister Sites: Felicity, the Creepy Desertic Town at the Center of the World "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Located near the California-Arizona state line and the Mexican border, the town of Felicity was built on 8,000 acres of desertic land, in a place some would define as in the middle of nowhere. However, to other people, this exact location is extremely significant. In fact, Felicity was officially designated the center of the world by both Californias Imperial County and Frances Institut Geographique National.

How can one even determine the center of a spherical globe, might you ask? Well, we cant. Like everything else relating to Felicity, one must look beyond the literal and understand the occult symbolism behind it all. For instance, the official center of the world is located inside a 21-foot-tall pyramid.

Ugandan Art Center Made from Excavated Materials "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

London-based New Makers Bureau has built a new Kampala art center in Uganda from materials excavated from the site itself earth, wood and reclaimed brick. We took cues from the idea of archaeology and excavation, literally mining the site for material, says founding director James Hampton.

New Makers Bureau collaborated with Localworks on the project, digging holes in the site to excavate the clay-heavy soil. They mixed it with lime and sand to create low-carbon, rammed earth walls for the first phase of the development, comprising a caf, interim gallery, art library and four studios, arranged around a courtyard.

A small portion of cement (6%) was used as a stabilizer for the walls, which were shaped in formwork made from wood salvaged from a dilapidated building on site and later reused for the roofs. Old brick was used as fill and aggregate.

The warm climate meant no insulation was required, so the rammed earth walls could be left exposed internally, and the building features almost no glazing, save for some slim polycarbonate skylights in the art studios. To prevent erosion in the rainy seasons, the earth building sits on a base of local sandstone and features large roof overhangs, which also provide generous shading.

A mlange of architectural structures, cosmic mappings, South American textiles, hieroglyphics, and Indigenous symbols emerge in vivid, balanced color in Eamon Ore-Girons paintings. Often rendered in flashe and mineral paint on large-scale linen canvases, the works are enveloping and visionary, transporting the viewer into Ore-Girons flat, geometric vistas.

Currently based in Los Angeles, the artist is deeply influenced by his surroundings. He was raised in Tucson by a Peruvian father and mother of Irish descent, embedding him within a distinct medley of global cultures from Latino and Indigenous to Andean and European. The visual language of this mixed heritage is evident in his paintings, particularly his more recent Talking Shit and Infinite Regress series.

On view now as part of Competing with Lightning / Rivalizando con el relmpago at The Contemporary Austin, the works make a stark departure from Ore-Girons earlier figurative pieces and instead favor symmetries, geometric shapes, and ancient motifs. The more vibrant of the series is Talking Shit, which was born out of the artists time in Guadalajara, and engages with the gods of Mexican and Peruvian cultures. In the massive, 204-inch-wide Talking Shit with Amaru, O...

Four weeks sharing a room in San Francisco, four weeks since I decided not to go back to England. Gabe wasnt sleeping. A quarter tab of acid for his breakfast. Spliffs throughout the day, booze and blue raspberry C4 preworkout all through the night. He was recording an album, working on his set, making a website, building a 24-7 open-source radio live-stream at a free hackers space, and not finishing anything.

I was trying to write but spending a lot of time crying on the hot roof of the apartment building when he wasnt around. He found me up there one afternoon at the end of one of his twelve-hour stints at the hackers space. Two straw hats, a beer, two cups. I know you like to drink out of little cups! He smiled and the inside of his mouth was blue from the raspberry preworkout. How do you hate someone as much as you love them? He said hed been looking for me because he had a great plan. A childhood friend in the city was driving down to their hometown and we could get a ride. I could meet Gabes parents; go to the beach; see the fields, wildflowers, and back roads. So beautiful this time of year. I wondered if it might save us. Its Gods country, he said.

We arrived at his parents the following morning, after a four-hour drive south. A low ranch-style house on a wide road of low ranch-style houses. Gabe said it was too nice a day to be stuck inside, so he took me around the side and we climbed straight up onto the roof: I know you like roofs in California! I did like roofs in California. Stolen Baby Donkey Is Found and Reunited With Mother in Tearful Reunion

Moon the Donkey Was Returned to Its Farm After Being Stolen

After a two-week search, a baby donkey named Moon was finally returned to her mother. She was reported missing from her home at Miller's Ark Animals in the UK on May 15. Since then, the Hampshire community had been working hard to collect any information about possible sightings of the foal. Fortunately, the police were able to find the culprits responsible for her capture and return Moon to the farm.

The tearful reunion of Moon being hugged by one of her owners was caught on video, and it's clear how emotional the separation was for both the foal and the farm. We are beyond thrilled and Mum and foal are finally back together, Miller's Ark writes. Moon appears to be in good health, thank heaven, and we will make sure that Moon and her mum Astra get lots of love and care as they re-discover each other.

Pamela Jessopp of Miller's Ark Animals credits the public for helping spread the word and share Moon's picture. It is because of all of you, amazing people, who have supported Moon, Astra, and the team at Millers Ark, sharing this story far and wideand now you have brought her home, the post continues. A huge thank you to all streams of the media who spread the story further, Thames Valley Police for their quick response, and Surrey and Hampshire Police for their work behind the scenes.

We are relieved to see Moon happily reunited with her mother and wish them all the best!

Coinbase, Americas Largest Cryptocurrency Exchange, Sued By The SEC For Securities Violations "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Coinbase, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has been charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for operating as an unregistered national securities exchange, broker and clearing agency. The SEC also accused Coinbase of failing to register its crypto asset staking-as-a-service program. The complaint alleges that since 2019, Coinbase has facilitated the buying and selling of billions of dollars' worth of crypto asset securities without proper registration, combining the functions of an exchange, broker, and clearing agency.

The SEC claims that Coinbase's failure to register has deprived investors of essential protections such as SEC inspection, recordkeeping requirements, and safeguards against conflicts of interest. The charges also extend to Coinbase's holding company, Coinbase Global Inc., as it is considered a control person and thus liable for some of Coinbase's violations.

Additionally, the SEC alleges that Coinbase conducted an unregistered securities offering through its staking-as-a-service program. This program allows customers to earn profits through blockchain transaction validation services. Coinbase allegedly pooled customers' stakeable crypto assets, performed the necessary validations, and rewarded customers with a portion of the generated rewards. The SEC states that Coinbase failed to register these offers and sales as required by law.

Just yesterday, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Binance and its CEO CZ, alleging that the exchange violated securities laws, brazenly dodged regulation by the SEC and did not properly inform their consumers. The combination of lawsuits within two days indicate a major effort by U.S. regulators to set a new tone for regulation and application of securities law to digital assets.

SEC Chair Gary Gensler criticized Coinbase's alleged deprivation of critical protections for investors. Gurbir S. Grewal, Director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement, accused Coinbase of deliberately refusing to follow the federal securities laws, noting that the consequences for the investing public are significant.

Like the SEC's complaint against Binance, the regulator seeks injunctive relief, disgorgement of ill-gotten gains, penalties and other equitable relief. The investigation was conducted by the SEC's Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit, with the assistance of the San Francisco Regional Office and the multi-state task force of ten state securities regulators.

Coinbase has not yet responded publicly to the charges. The outcome of this case will have significant implications for the regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges in the United States and could be a major shift for t...

Amboss Unveils LINER Index, Bolstering Enterprise Adoption Of Lightning Network "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Amboss, a data analytics provider for the Bitcoin Lightning Network (LN), has introduced LINER (Lightning Network Rate), an innovative index designed to measure bitcoin returns on the Lightning Network and showcase its potential for low-risk enterprise yield. According to a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine, LINER serves as a benchmark interest rate for bitcoin without credit risk, similar to the traditional finance's LIBOR (London Interbank Offered Rate). The index aims to provide an alternative to enterprises seeking exposure to bitcoin while avoiding the credit risk associated with CeFi yield platforms.

"By communicating real yield rates from bitcoin held on the LN, enterprises will recognize the strategic error in trusting CeFi yield platforms while capturing the benefits of payment network disruption that is decades overdue, said Jesse Shrader, co-founder and CEO of Amboss. Nik Bhatia, creator of The Bitcoin Layer, praised LINER as a first-of-its-kind reference rate derived from the Lightning Network, contributing to the establishment of unmanipulated money markets independent of a central authority.

Allen Farrington, a Bitcoin writer and investor, acknowledged the value of a reference rate like LINER for assessing the true cost of capital, highlighting the Lightning Network's growth as a self-sustaining financial ecosystem for both retail and enterprise needs.

Amboss also operates Magma, a marketplace facilitating the buying and selling of Lightning channels, enabling bitcoin holders to earn BTC from opening Lightning channels to various destinations. Since Lightning channels are self-custodial ways to hold bitcoin, Magma enables novel bitcoin yield without custodial risk, avoiding the pitfalls of failed CeFi yield platforms like Celsius and BlockFi, the press release stated.

LINER comprises two insightful metrics: LINER Cost and LINER Yield, which provide enterprises with valuable insights into the lightning market. These metrics allow for comparisons between LINER Cost and traditional payment card fees, empowering large bitcoin holders to make informed decisions regarding their bitcoin holdings.

Jonathan Bier, an author and investor, noted the potential future significance of the LINER index as a reference rate for Bitcoin-based investment decisions. The introduction of LINER opens up possibilities for portfolio managers, investors and businesses to leverage the index in their decision-making processes.

With LINER, Amboss aims to encourage enterprise adoption of the Lightning Network by demonstrating the cost savings and low-risk yield potential offered by Lightning-enabled payment infrastructure. The index provides a clear incentive for large bitcoin holders to utilize self-custodial strategies and earn higher returns while minimiz...

Catalina Swinburn Meticulously Excavates the History and Ceremony of Textiles in Her Woven Paper Investitures "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A sculpture made of woven paper from books.

The cloak is a talisman from harm, keeping one safe and secure throughout transitions, says Chilean artist Catalina Swinburn, whose elaborate sculptures use thousands of pieces of folded paper to explore world history. Living and working between Buenos Aires and London, she is drawn to ideas around migration and displacement, turning material derived from books, documents, and maps into large-scale wall pieces and intricate, robe-like compositions.

Swinburn is interested in liminality, the process of transitioning across borders or boundaries in space or time that often requires formal procedures. She focuses on investitures, a term that applies to both an honorary ceremony and a type of garment that covers, protects, or adorns the wearer. My works are what I called Ritual Investitures that extend power and resistance by the way they are constructed, she says, also in the fictional idea of how this can be used as an armour to protect, or wings to fly, or become something you wish.
