Your average art fair experience might look like this: a sparse selection of art on display, out of budget, eerily quiet, and overall a bit underwhelming. The fair encourages visitors to step out of their comfort zones and discover art differentlyan outlandish and unmissable game plan for the weekend.

Two Astrophotographers Join Forces to Create Enormous 140-Megapixel Photo of the Sun

Andrew McCarthy and Jason Guenzel Sun Photography

Two astrophotographers teamed up to produce an incredible 140-megapixel image of the Sun. Andrew McCarthy and Jason Guenzel are each skilled in the art of capturing the cosmos, but what they have been able to produce together is mindblowing. This image of the Sun shows its fiery surface in rich detail, as well as a plasma tornado that is the height of 14 Earths (which is approximately 111,000 miles).

McCarthy and Guenzel have admired each other's work for some time and have been looking for an opportunity to collaborate. When the weather conditions lined up, they were able to take advantage of their individual skill sets to produce something magical. He specializes in extracting incredible detail from the raw data, while my strength is building large mosaic images of the Sun, McCarthy tells My Modern Met. By combining our strengths, we were able to create an incredible piece of work that pushes the boundaries of what's possible with amateur equipment.

To produce the final image, McCarthy took around 200,000 shots of the Sun. He and Guenzel then worked together for five days to process the data and composite the photo. The photo, which is titled Fusion of Helios, uses 90,000 of McCarthy's images, as well as a 2017 eclipse photo taken by Guenzel. This image was used to incorporate structures that would otherwise be invisible. These creative choices require precision and knowledge in order to offer a pleasing result, and it's clear that McCarthy and Guenzel went above and beyond to bring an exceptional piece to the public.

Capturing the Sun requires a bit of artistry due to the very nature of it, explains McCarthy. The extreme range of tones present in the varying layers of the...

My Curtains, My Radiator "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Photograph by Mitchell Johnson.

I moved to Chicago late last summer and spent my first evening alone scrubbing and rescrubbing an old dresser I had found in the basement of my new apartment. It was plastered in dust and cobwebs, and dotted with some small dried-out things that were probably once eggs. Underneath, it was beautifulmaybe a hundred years old, a deep cherry color with intricate metal handles. I cleaned it and stapled fabric to the bottoms of the drawers, which still catch sometimes and deposit small slivers of wood on my T-shirts. Still, it works well enough.

I loved the apartment when I moved in. It has big windows and a back sunroom nestled in tree branches. Lake Michigan is just down the block. In the first couple weeks I lived here I would call my friends in other cities and tell them about my lake house, as I called it. It was a warm September, and I spent my days drifting back and forth down the street in my swimsuit. A neighbor told me that some people call Chicago in the summer Chiami.

In October it got too cold to swim. I spent most of my time alone in my apartment, grad school a thin tether to the world. Steadily, all of my things began to irritate me. The dresser. The lamp on the kitchen table that always fell over. The rug in the living room that slid under my feet. The toilet whose handle needed jiggling. The thin hollow doors through which I could hear my neighbors.

November came and the radiators didnt work. Every few hours they would heat up for a couple minutes and then shut off. In between I would shiver in my living room. I called the management company, and they sent the gas company. Every week, maintenance workers came into my apartment to check and recheck my radiators, unable to find a problem. My downstairs neighbor and I discussed buying a thermometer to document how far below the legal residential temperature we were living.

On one visit,...

Jeanne Vicerials Enigmatic Armors Evoke Timeless Strength in Elegant Sculptures Made of Thread "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A figurative sculpture made of white thread that resembles a cloak. A cavity in the chest area is made from varnished dried roses.

Evocative of medieval suits of armor or monastic traditions, Jeanne Vicerials intricate sculptures exude quiet strength in thousands of draping threads. The French artist layers halyards, a type of cord used to hoist sails or flags, to outline the curves of figures wearing elegant cloaks, hoods, and shield-like accessories with unraveled coils at their feet. In her series Armorsa play on the French words amour and armure, meaning love and armor, respectivelyshe assembles enigmatic garments that await use, as if crystallized over time.

Vicerial was inspired by the Gorgons of Greek mythology, the most famous of which is Medusa, whose hair roiled with snakes and turned anyone who looked at them into stone. The idea was to insert myself into that great mythological story but to suspend its time, making it impossible to define the time or place where they were born, the artist tells Colossal. She leaves the wearers identities open to interpretation, allowing the viewer to imagine the possibilities of...

Stunning Metal Sculptures Recreate the Fluid Forms of Splashing Water "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Stunning Metal Sculptures Recreate the Fluid Forms of Splashing Water

Abstract Silver Sculptures by Zheng Lu

The word sculpture typically evokes a static figure that is suspended in time. Beijing-based artist Zheng Lu, however, finds a way to convey not only movement but also changeability. His series of metal sculptures mimic the splashing of water, taking on the amorphous shapes of liquid as it splatters in different directions.

Ranging from a small scale to human-sized, and sometimes even larger, these pieces are striking to look at. Each one is crafted from stainless steel that has been cast to resemble water that is mid-splash. The process of forming a work is like a complete set of ruminating processes, which is the rumination of humans and machines, Zheng says. The result is like a living body, a marriage of organisms and machines, and the result of the nesting of inorganic and organic substances.

Many of these works feature a shiny, reflective finish that adds to the viscous appearance of these sculptures. Others, however, possess a textured surface, covered with thousands of Chinese characters Zheng picked out from historical texts and poems, which cover philosophies about the natural world. The combination of the hard metallic medium with the freeform shapes it takes makes these sculptures awe-inspiring to behold.

Scroll down to see more sculptures by Zheng and keep up to date with his latest projects and upcoming exhibitions by following the artist on Instagram.

People Share The Ways You Can Tell Someone Did Not Grow Up Emotionally Safe "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Sadly, the internet has made it clear that quite a few people are dealing with fallout (to varying degrees) of childhood trauma. In fact, as parents, I think we have to accept that, no matter how hard we try, our kids will not emerge unscathed.

If youre dealing with your own stuff and are looking to be seen, check out 16 ways people say everyone can tell whats lurking in your past.

16. Ask yourself.

Discovered I have difficulty identifying when Im stressed or upset before the huge emotional outbursts happen.

Ive always had the mindset that if I want something, only I can give it to myself because no one else will be listening if I ask for it.

15. Walking on eggshells.

Noticing every little behavioral change or any change in the pitch of somebodys voice.

I also feel a constant sense of walking on eggshells around everybody

14. Making the connection.

Something very sad will happen in my life and like 2 days later Ill be super depressed and feeling it like I need to cry, and have absolutely no idea why.

One of my childhood best friends died recently. I hadnt seen him in like 10 years, but he was important to me growing up. Any way, he dies and then like 2 days later I feel awful and sad and just want to lay around and I tell my wife I dont know why I feel so sad, what is my problem?? And she says your friend died, remember? And Im like Jesus, you re right.

I literally couldnt make the connection without someone telling me why I was feeling what I was feeling.

13. Necessary for survival.

Bitcoin Is Perfect For Rural America "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The value and economic opportunities that Bitcoin presents are ideal for the diverse, dynamic, rural regions of the U.S.

This is an opinion editorial by Hongumart, a frontline healthcare worker who resides in rural Midwestern America.

Rural America is not a monolithic entity, but rather a diverse and dynamic region that encompasses different landscapes, climates and cultures. Some rural areas are more prosperous and developed than others, depending on factors such as natural resources, infrastructure and industry. Some rural areas are more conservative and religious than others, depending on factors such as history, ethnicity and immigration. Some rural areas are more connected and integrated with urban areas than others, depending on factors such as distance, transportation and communication.

Growing up in rural America is not better or worse than growing up in urban or suburban areas. It is simply different. Each environment has its own advantages and disadvantages that shape one's life experiences and outcomes. The important thing is to appreciate the diversity and richness of rural America, and if you can do that, you will recognize the potential contributions that Bitcoin can bring to this region in particular.

Bitcoin's appeal lies in its ability to provide financial freedom, privacy and innovation to its users. Bitcoin also embodies some of the values that rural America cherishes, such as independence, self-reliance and entrepreneurship. Many rural Americans have embraced Bitcoin as a way to participate in the global economy, hedge against inflation and diversify their income sources.

Bitcoin is not a get-rich-quick scheme or a magic solution to all problems. It is a revolutionary technology that has the potential to transform the world of money and finance. But it also requires education, innovation and adoption to reach its full potential. Bitcoin will have truly made it when small-town America understands what it really is: a peer-to-peer electronic cash system that empowers people to be their own banks.

Bitcoin Mining Is Ideal For Rural America

In fact, some of the largest and most advanced bitcoin mining facilities are located in rural areas of the U.S., particularly in Texas and the Mountain West region. Bitcoin mining requires a lot of cheap and reliable electricity, which rural areas can provide thanks to their abun...

Her husband Alfred Stieglitz, an influential photographer and gallery owner 24 years her senior, created a sensation when he exhibited these floral images alongside his sensuous nude portraits of her, fomenting an erotic association that has been near impossible to shake.

Discover the Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Les Trs Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, the Worlds Most Beautiful Calendar (1416) "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

We dont hear the phrase very rich hours as much as we used to, back when it was occasionally employed in the headlines of magazine articles or the titles of novels. Today, its much to be doubted whether even one in a hundred thousand of us could begin to identify its referent or at least it was much to be doubted until an elaborate New York Times online feature appeared just last week. Written by art critic Jason Farago, Searching for Lost Time in the Worlds Most Beautiful Calendar takes a close look at the Trs Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, a late-medieval illuminated manuscript created (between 1412 and 1416) for the bibliophilic John, Duke of Berry by a trio of Flemish artists known as the Limbourg brothers.

The word hours in the title refers not to units of time, exactly, but to the prayers that believers must speak at certain hours: this is a book of hours, a hugely popular form of manuscript in the Middle Ages. But compared to most surviving books of hours, Trs Riches Heures du Duc de Berry is, well, very rich indeed.

Dad Asks How Far Is Too Far When Commenting On An Infants Looks? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Have you ever heard the expression that all brides and babies are cute? Well, its very good advice, and Im not sure, but I think after you read this you might believe it should be gospel when it comes to your own baby.

OP just had his second child, first daughter. He admits that his wife is and has been struggling a bit with depression, and tell us that his son is adorable (and calls his wife very attractive).

My daughter, our second child, is three weeks old. Pre pregnancy, my wife was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and depression, and in the days since birthing our baby girl, is most definitely experiencing postpartum depression.

Our first child, our son, looks very much so like her. In fact, if you look at baby photos of my wife, they look almost exactly like our sons baby photos. And my wife is is a looker, so my son is damn cute thank you very much.

The problem? Apparently the little girl looks more like her fatherand her mother definitely doesnt think thats a good thing.

Our daughter got a bit more of my sides gene pool. Her hairline kinda has a widows peak (which Ive had since I was a baby). Her lips are relatively thin (like me). Her nose is a little larger than our sons was (I have a Middle Eastern classic hook nose).

Nearly every day in my daughters 21 days on this earth, my wife has made a comment to baby girl about how shes so sad she got daddys features. Some of the things wife has said to baby girl:

Dont worry, Ill get you a nose job as soon as youre old enough.

I wish you had gotten more of my features. My family is beautiful and all the women are timeless. Your dads family, not so much.

[Son] has the beautiful pouty lips and you got stuck with those pencil lips oooh its really tough being a girl.

How Would You React To Being Expected To Buy Your Own Dinner At A Wedding? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

I cant tell from the comments whether or not this story takes place in the US, and I feel like that could be an important piece of the puzzle because I have never heard of such a thing here.

OP was invited to a wedding and made sure to ask the bride ahead of time whether or not there would be any costs for the invited guests. The bride said no.

Hi, Im F25.

Recently, my colleague (F31) invited me to her wedding, which happened yesterday. I was super excited and happy for her.

Just in case, I asked her if there was any guest fees she said No, you dont need to pay me anything.

The day of the wedding was going fine, until they got to the reception and OP received a menu with (quite expensive) prices listed on it.

On the day itself, everything went well until it the reception (dinner time). To my shock, I was presented with a wedding menu that had prices on it. (For example: Steak - $50) Everything was ridiculously expensive, including the vegetarian options.

At first, I wanted to question her because well, she lied to me that I didnt have to pay for anything. But it was her wedding and I didnt want to spoil her day by embarrassing her in front of everyone.

However, the only other option was to simply not eat, as I didnt bring enough money for both a meal and a ride back. But this was completely unfavourable as I had skipped my lunch to save space for the wedding meal and was pretty hungry.

She decided to go to McDonalds instead, and told the bride she would be right back.

That part was a mistake, because the bride got upset and accused OP of being cheap. Then OP got mad and accused the bride of lying.

Suddenly, I remembered that I saw a McDonalds ab...

The Afterlives of the Soul: Sister Nivedita on Love and Death "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

To the soul, time does not exist. Only her own great purpose exists, shining clear and steady through the mists before her.

Know as we might what actually happens when we die, we spend our lives trembling at the fact of our finitude, trying to wrest from it some greater poetic truth something that slakes the souls thirst for meaning. Even the spiritual materialists among us are haunted by incomprehension at the cessation of consciousness how can this entire carnival of wonder just, one day, melt into nothingness? And what, in the end, does it all mean, will it all have meant?

These questions come alive in the 1908 book An Indian Study of Love and Death (public library | public domain) by the Irish teacher and activist Margaret Elizabeth Noble (October 18, 1867October 13, 1911), christened Sister Nivedita by Swami Vivekananda after she emigrated to Calcutta when she was twenty-one to begin devoting her life to India and the sacred search for meaning.

Sister Nivedita

To be clear, Sister Niveditas intimation that the soul is immortal is a fundamentally unprovable fact a claim counter to everything we know about the universe, beyond the reach of our empiricism and...

Nikkis Weekly Tarot Reading: April 17-23, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The cards pictured are from Uusis Pagan Otherworlds deck.

Six of Cups and King of Cups

This week we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse in the sign of Aries, the start of Mercury in Retrograde, and the transition into Taurus Season on April 20. We feel big shifts in the air. We open ourselves to fresh energy and allow the cards to share their nurturing guidance.

Our first card this week is the Six of Cups and it is all about enjoying the here and now. This card wants us to know that pleasure is our birthright and that we deserve to feel good. It is also the perfect representation of Taurus energy.

The cups depicted here are full of beautiful flowers floating above a peaceful pastoral scene. There are warm and powerful vibrations radiating from this card.

This card speaks to being in touch with our sensuality. It asks us to first be aware of what brings us pleasure so we can then share that knowledge with others.

Spend time this week listening to your body and to your desires. If you have a romantic partner, share your personal desires with them. If you are single, open yourself up and connect to what feels good and is life-giving to you.

If you have blocks around feeling pleasure, examine those beliefs this week. Ask yourself why you dont make room for pleasure in your life and see if you can change that. Because remember, pleasure is your birthright. And as long as we are not causing harm to others, we should go after what brings us joy.

Our next card is the King of Cups. He is a calm and loving card that shares his ancient wisdom with us. He sits on a throne surrounded by water. He closes his eyes to listen to his intuition, his dreams, and the sounds of the earth. He is a blend of watery sensitivity and earthly groundedness.

When he closes his eyes, the sound of his breath is like the ocean, moving in and out on the sand. This card reminds us that our breath is always there for us as a comforting and transporting presence.

When we journey to the depth of the ocean, and of ourselves, we will find both treasures and darkness. This happens anytime we tune in with what we are really feeling.

The King of Cups teaches us not to hold on to any specific feeling for too long. We should let them flow through us like water through rocks, knowing that everything is impermanent.

This card is also a model of generosity when sharing our love and energy. The King gives love without expecting anything in return. He does not hold on too tightly, demand constant reassurance, or try to control those around him.

Instead, he gives away his love freely and trusts that what is meant for him will always come to him. He has faith in himself and the Universe.

Five US Marines Harassed by Sasquatch? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for Bigfoot attacking soldiers

How likely is it that 5 seasoned US Marine Corps veterans all of which served two tours in Vietnam were frightened by several Bigfoot creatures? It happened at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina in the back of the base where a narrow river great for fishing became a scene of daytime terror.  Several times the Brothers in Arms had chosen the secluded spot to enjoy nature and get some fishing done. The area neared a railroad crossing over the river that they used to get to the other side and begin their adventure.

Deafening silence

Nothing strange had happened there before. Each man had been in the thick of it in the midst of battle in Vietnam and to say that there wasnt much that could scare them would have been an understatement. They would park then walk a mile to the Railroad Bridge to cross over and set up to fish. The walk along the railroad track led them to their special fishing site. As usual the fish were biting and they were enjoying their weekend getaway. Late in the afternoon almost close to sunset it was when they noticed the woods had grown completely silent. No birds, squirrels, or insects buzzing. Nothing. To most this is the sign of something super natural emerging.

Image result for Bigfoot attacking soldiers

The assault begins

Then it began. First, a huge tree limb was thrown into the river toward them. Eight inches in diameter, it was too big for any man to throw. It didnt just fall out of one of the trees either and there was no wind. Someone had to have intentionally throw it, and whoever it was had to be big and powerful. Just then, they heard what sounded like a huge beast walking on two feet thrashing through dense briars and saplings no man could have walked through. They could see by the tops of the trees that were being broken that whoever it was had to have been close to eight feet tall. It this wasnt bad enough there seemed to be more noise coming from a different direction. Then began the screams and growls louder than any animal could have made that vibrated their chests.

Bigfoot Attack in Utah - YouTube

The long frightening walk back

The foliage was so thick all they could see was the huge dark silhouette of something tall a few feet in from the shore of the river crashing through the woods! They were preparing for a fight, but al...

FBI Raids Art Foundation in Puerto Rico "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The FBI has seized over 100 works from the Michle Vasarely Foundation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which houses pieces by the late artist Victor Vasarely and his son Jean-Pierre, also known as Yvaral. The center was founded by Yvarals second wife, Michle Taburno-Vasarely, whose ownership of the two artists work has been bitterly contested by Pierre Vasarely Victors grandson and Yvarals son from his first marriage.

Victor Vasarely (19061997) was a Hungarian-born painter best known for his abstract paintings and sculptures associated with the Op Art movement. He spent most of his life in France, where his grandson Pierre has headed the Vasarely Foundation since 2009. The organization was established in 1976 and Vasarely served as honorary president. His son Yvaral created similar kinetic works and became a successful artist in his own right.

An FBI spokesperson confirmed to Hyperallergic that the order to raid the San Juan space originated from the District Court of...

Organist Adds a Thrilling Layer to the Star Wars Score in a Live Performance With a Symphony

Organist Performs With a Symphony Orchestra to Add a Thrilling Layer to the Star Wars Finale

Photo: Screenshot from YouTube

The Star Wars score is one of the most epic soundtracks of all time. Throughout the years, orchestras around the world have given fans the chance to listen to it live, building on the thrill of an already powerful work. However, one musician has added an extra layer by incorporating an instrument that wasn't part of the original recordings. Organist Anna Lapwood joined the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO), under the baton of Ukrainian conductor Kirill Karabits, to perform The Throne Room and End Title at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The result is marvelous.

Composer John Williams, who wrote the scores for most of the Star Wars franchise, didn't create an organ part for the original score, which was first recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra in 1977. That's why Lapwood had to write her own to join the 100 players needed to bring to life these iconic melodies. The sounds of this massive instrument enhanced the performance of the BSO's brass section. The concert was hosted by Classic FM, who described Lapwood's presentation as an extra jolt of jubilation to this starry-eyed performance.

Lapwood was able to enjoy the firework show at the end of the concert as well as the ovation she got through a mirror located atop the keyboard. The musician is a Royal Albert Hall Associate Artist and has gained traction on TikTok for sharing her early morning rehearsals and compelling organ insight. According to Classic FM, she even taught the Italian composer...

Building with Bamboo in Australia "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

Mari Miranda has been investigating the ecological benefits of bamboo since enrolling in University of Southern Queenslands Master of Engineering in 2017. An engineering officer by trade, Mari said green building material could be the solution to skyrocketing construction costs and play a key role in Australias efforts to reduce carbon emission by 2030.

Bamboo is a durable, affordable and highly renewable building material and poles apart from timber when it comes to its sustainable and eco-friendly credentials, Mari said. Bamboo forests can help mitigate climate change due to its fast sequestration of carbon and converting its poles to bamboo products such as a construction material will further lock the carbon it stored. It also has significant mechanical properties suitable for structural applications that make it more attractive than other go-to building materials its cheap, its light and its strong.

Stronger than the widely used timber in Australia, bamboo takes just three to five years to grow and unlike timber, doesnt have to be uprooted and replanted as it grows back after its harvested.

In recent years, bamboo products and goods have become increasingly popular in Australian homes, but a lack of building regulations for bamboo makes it difficult to build major buildings or structures in the country. Mari was born and raised in the Philippines where bamboo plays a significant role in Filipino culture and daily lives. Some of her fondest memories as a child were the days she spent at her grandparents bamboo-made house. Her wish now is to see bamboo recognized as a mainstream construction material.

Bamboo is the fastest growing and most versatile plant in the world, but Australia has yet to realize the enormous potential of bamboo culms (poles) which could help solve the nations housing and climate crises, Mari said. There are lots of bamboo structures in Colombia, Indonesia and China, so if they can build bamboo structures there, why cant we build them here?

For her resear...

Walmart Has Plans To Ditch Its EMPLOYEES! From what I have found out, and a few different articles I found, it looks like Walmart has plans on ditching its employees, through the use of Robotics and AI, but they say, they will keep all Employees. Survival preparedness refers to the actions taken to ensure that one can survive and cope in the event of a natural disaster, pandemic, or other emergency situation. It involves assembling a kit of essential supplies, learning survival skills, and having a plan in place for communication and evacuation. This includes having non-perishable food and water, a first aid kit, a means of communication such as a radio, and tools to start a fire or signal for help. It also involves being informed about potential emergencies in ones area and understanding how to stay safe in various scenarios. The goal of survival preparedness is to increase the chances of survival and reduce the impact of a disaster on oneself and loved ones.

People Share Why Their First Day On The Job Would Be Their Last "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Once you pass a certain age and experience level you must realize that some jobs are just jobs, not a passion or something thats going to fulfill you as a long term career.

That said, we still expect to not despise our every day, and we also prefer to be treated well while were toiling away the hours, right?

These 17 people walked in to a new job with certain expectations, but saw things on day one that had them walking right back out with no plans to return.

17. The smart ones left.

Answered an ad in the paper (this was the mid 90s) what seemed to be an office job making sales calls when I was in college. Did a phone interview and was called back for an in person interview.

When I go to the interview Im led into a room with about 50 other people and a small stage at the front of the room. Were all somewhat confused as to what is going on.

Finally a guy gets on the stage and informs us that weve been selected for the opportunity to sell Cutco.

Me and 2/3rds of the rest stood up and walked out.

16. Two shifts, technically.

Not technically first day but second day.

When I was 20 or so I got hired to be a temporary floor member for Forever21 during the holiday season.

My training started a week before Black Friday so the store was already kind of in chaos. On my first day of training I walked in and the floor manager gave all the new hires a tour showing us the facility and layout of the store. After this I was assigned to a veteran floor member to shadow and get an idea of what my job was and what my duties would be. As soon as I was assigned the manager dipped never to be seen again.

An hour and a half into my shift my...

An inspiring Story "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

I've seen several of these kinds of stories, where someone attempts to disprove God and ends up being converted. And it is usually the highly intelligent, the academic minded, but always those who are not closed minded. Listen to 385,000 Vintage 78 RPM Records for Free on The Internet Archive

Listen to 385,000 Vintage 78 RPM Records in Online Archive for Free

Photo: CLAUDIODIVIZIA/Depositphotos

One way to understand the past is to listen to the music of the time. The Internet Archive is making that easier than ever with over 395,000 digitized records in the 78 RPM style, which dominated from 1900 to about 1950. The files are free to access, stream, and download. The collection is more than just entertaining, it is an important effort to digitize the sounds of history which have been preserved on brittle disks for almost a century.

The 78 RPM disc format became available in 1898. Made of shellac resin, they came in several sizes but were known for their 78 rotations per minute. They were recorded through a horn (later a microphone), with sound causing vibrations that engraved a pattern in the disc. The shellac material has not aged well, and some records can break from even being picked up. As such, digitizing these recordings is crucial.

The Great 78 Project, through the Internet Archive, is working towards this goal. George Blood, head of the audio-visual digitization company George Blood Audio, is a major contributor. Were currently delivering 5-6,000 sides per month, said Blood to The Vinyl Factory, and well be working to get to 20,000. The archive will be a reference collection of sound recordings from the period of approximately 1880 to 1960. This process is not easy; a record must be cleaned, conserved, and digitized. Files digitized by others can also be added.

If we didnt do this, 48,000 78s in a little library in Batavia III, Illinois, may have been lost. Same for a trove of more than 78,000 discs from a...

Archeologists Find Preserved Food at an Ancient Iraqi Tavern Site

Archeologists Find Preserved Food at Ancient Iraqi Tavern Site

After a hard day's work, ancient people liked to unwind at the pub just like modern folks. At least, that is what new findings on the important archeological site of Lagash in Iraq indicate. As recently announced by the University of Pennsylvania, archeologists digging at the site uncovered a tavern dating to around 2700 B.C.E. The find is complete with an oven, benches, a clay refrigerator known as a zeer, and bowls with food remnants. These findings can tell historians and archeologists a lot about daily life in a busy, ancient industrial center.

Lagash is one of the largest archeological sites in southern Mesopotamia. The city dates to the Early Dynastic period from 2900 to 2300 B.C.E. The urban center was part of a trio of cities that formed a powerful polity. Lagash was situated near fertile lands, but archeologists also believe it was an important center of craftsmen and industry. Excavations have uncovered ceramic kilns and trenches where wet clay was stored. Tables and benches nearby suggested a workroom. These workers may have lived in the domestic quarters also discovered on the site, which contained a kitchen, bowls with food, a grinding stone, and a toilet.

A surprising feature of the neighborhood was the tavern. Benches for guests, a zeer, an oven, and remnants of storage vessels containing food all suggest a thriving working-class watering hole. Its a public eating space dating to somewhere around 2700 BCE, says Professor Holly Pittman, curator of the Penn Museums Near East Section and the Lagash project director. Its partially open air, partially kitchen area.

To uncover the tavern, the team employed modern technologies. Using drone i...

Vintage Textile Patterns Are Reimagined as Intricate Laser-Cut Paper Sculptures "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Vintage Textile Patterns Are Reimagined as Intricate Laser-Cut Paper Sculptures

Paper Cutouts by Julia Ibbini

Vintage textiles are reimagined in paper form through stunning creations by Ibbini Studio. Based in Abu Dhabi, artist Julia Ibbini and computer scientist Stphane Noyer have merged their expertise into a unique practice that combines contemporary digital design with traditional craftsmanship. Their series of sculptural works feature ornamental motifs from an array of sources, stretching from antique Persian carpets to Japanese cloisonn vases.

Ibbini and Noyer have collaborated since 2017, resulting in a diverse portfolio of highly intricate pieces cut from thin sheet materials. Some of their most recent works are made from layers of individually cut paper. Each sheet is cut with a laser and then layered together with a complex collaging method.

Even though we use machines extensively during the production process, the pieces always start from hand-drawn elements, and the end result is always assembled by hand, which can take hundreds of hours and as much skill as the rest of the process, Ibbini explains to My Modern Met. I want the work to have that element of being craftedthat someone's hand was there. There is something quite beautiful in that.

Some of the designs feature perforations so fine and delicate that they resemble lace. Others possess a high-relief quality due to the dense layering, creating mesmerizing textures and curves that attract the eye. Our work combines contemporary digital design and traditional craftsmanship with extreme intricacy, exploring themes such as historical ornament and pattern using algorithms and new technologies, Ibbini says. A specific focus is the creation of visual complexity, either through repetition of simple motifs, elaborate geometric construction, or accumulation of ornamental detail in order to create highly intricate pieces.

Gold Bugs Still Dont Get It: Bitcoins Ledger Makes It The Better Store Of Value "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Many of gold bugs values overlap with Bitcoin, but they dismiss BTC without understanding the superiority of its digital ledger.

This is an opinion editorial by Luke Groom, a civil engineer, JD-MBA student and part-time strategy associate with Marathon Digital Holdings.

In the last couple of years, Jordan Peterson has been diving down the sound money rabbit hole, and for me its been a pleasure to watch from a distance. So many of the values he espouses align with the values that Bitcoin encourages, such as personal responsibility and a search for truth, so it was only a matter of time before he became interested in Bitcoin.

He has spoken with Saefidean Ammous and Robert Breedlove in recent years and, even as a non-Bitcoiner per se, captivated the audience at the Bitcoin conference in Miami in 2022. A more recent conversation with Roy Sebag was also enjoyable to listen to, though it illustrated for me the need to discuss the differences between gold and bitcoin, not just their properties as monetary units, but also the properties of their ledgers.

To be sure, gold bugs such as Sebag and Peter Schiff share many beliefs with Bitcoiners. I respect them and their work. There is a lot of overlap in the problems and solutions that both gold bugs and Bitcoiners address. But the arguments for bitcoin as a superior unit of account have been discussed at length.

The Fact That Gold Has Other Tangible Uses Isnt Relevant For Global Money

Sebag and Schiff argue that gold is valuable, in part, because it has other uses such as in cell phone parts and dentistry, whereas bitcoin has no other uses. This is true; however, I am not sure how this is relevant.

Why do we need our money to have other features besides just being money? Where is that written? If the monetary premium for gold disappeared, and it was only used for its other tangible purposes, golds price would utterly collapse. Furthermore, if gold became the global unit of account as gold bugs want it to, gold would be used even less for nonmonetary purposes due to cost limitations. Its monetary premium would increase, thereby weakening their own argument about having other valuable uses.

A monetary unit need only have good monetary propertie...

I'm writing this as Kim Rossi, autism Mom, born at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston almost more decades ago than I have fingers on my hand. Age of Autism can not and will not endorse any candidate. But we can share  report on how the candidates will perhaps treat our community and the issues that matter to us. We've seen Presidents make promises that aren't worth their weight in feathers. We've been lied to. Marginalized. Disenfranchised. The Covid lockdown and vaccine mandates were catastrophic for us.

When Robert's uncle John was President in 1960, the autism rate was 1 in 10,000. It was unheard of. Psychiatrists went a full career never seeing a patient. Pediatricians had waiting rooms full of chatty two year olds who sat in Mother's lap waiting their turn. Today? The rate is 1 in 36 and childhood as we once knew it is utterly destroyed by far more than autism.

In 2023, labels have little meaning.  What's a Republican today? What's a Democrat? What is pro-life. What is is pro-choice? By whose definition, your parents? Your grandparents?

I hope to see you there.  KIM

Worrying Report Claims 400K Involved in Blasphemy Cases In Pakistan "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A non-profit organization in Pakistan claimed that more than 400,000 people were allegedly involved in blasphemous activities in the Muslim-majority country, citing a report submitted to the Lahore High Court by the Cybercrime Wing of the countrys Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In a press conference at the National Press Club in Pakistans capital, Islamabad, Rao Abdul Rahim, a lawyer and the chairman of the Legal Commission on Blasphemy, claimed that Pakistans national and religious symbols were being desecrated systematically on social media.

During the press conference, the commissions most senior members, such as Shiraz Ahmed Farooqui and Allama Shabir Shah Geelani, accompanied him.

Rahim also shared his astonishment upon learning that the so-called blasphemous activities were happening not in other countries but in Pakistan. He also cited an incident where FIA agents arrested four people in 2022 for blasphemy charges.

The FIAs investigation during this incident revealed that the four suspects organized a blasphemy group in 2019, which quickly grew to 32,000 members upon their arrest.

Describing the rise of blasphemy in Pakistan as a burgeoning social and religious menace, Rahim called on the Pakistani government, which had long intensified its crackdown against non-religious Pakistanis and anyone accused of blasphemy, to fulfill their constitutional duties and look on the matter.

Acoustic 100 gecs Show Somehow Leaves Dozens With Permanent Hearing Loss "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

ST. LOUIS Hyperpop icons 100 gecs shook local coffee shop The Brewstory to its foundations with an intimate acoustic show that seemed to defy all known laws of sound, newly-deafened sources confirmed.

I thought seeing an unplugged gecs show would be a low-stress way to make me seem cool, but now I guess my hearing is trashed forever? whimpered local 38 year-old Mark Disley, wiping a trickle of blood from his ear. They came out with acoustic guitars, no mics, and some Rube Goldberg-looking assortment of weird objects that I guess was their effects rack, and within seconds I was pinned to the back of the room with the sheer volume. Half the crowd staggered out after two songs, and the other half, who were all, like, 17 year-olds, rolled their eyes at us and called us little piss-babies.

Laura Les, one half of the paradigm-shifting duo, explained their approach for the show at The Brewstory.

Yeah, we thought itd be nice to take it down a notch from our usual shows, create more of a chill vibe, said Les while hitting a cotton-candy flavored vape. But we still wanted it to slap, so we just put together a pretty basic acoustic signal chain. We aim the guitars into the horn of a haunted gramophone, then run the sound through the plumbing of the coffee shop, do parallel compression through 16 on-fire bassoons, and resonate it in the carcass of a sperm whale. Comes out at about 120 decibels, which is barely louder than a small jumbo jet. Pretty mellow, really.

Audiologist Dr. Joyce Amoako offered her scientific opinion on the show.

Ive studied sound and hearing for 40 years, and Im completely stumped, said Amoako. Hearing damage on this scale should not be possible from an entirely unamplified performance in such a small, intimate setting. A survivor of this incident told me he saw one of the so-called musicians pluck a 40 Hz sine wave out of the air, perform a manual linear fold on it, then thread it through the ears of a man in the front row like floss. These are sick, dangerous individuals.

At press time, the band were seen diligently sweeping up the smashed panes of glass that they had used for all their snare hits.

Every Tool Album Ranked "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

We desperately needed to raise our IQ by a few points, so we decided to re-listen to Tools five full-length albums and deliver a comprehensive ranking of them. If you are intimidated by this musical monolith and are looking to get started, or are just hoping to have your smug sense of superiority that stems from listening to a band that uses the letter validated a little, our ranking of every Tool album is here for your convenience.

5. Undertow (1993)

Coming hot off the heels of their edgy, middle-finger-to-the-priest debut EP Opiate, Undertow sounds more like a pissed-off Soundgarden than the holier-than-thou musical mathematicians we know today. Check those sick drop-d riffs and slightly esoteric lyrical themes, though they hit the ground running. Still, if youre looking to spiral out, as the kids say, this isnt the best place to start.

Play it again: Flood, the only track on here that vaguely resembles the epics Tool would go on to craft that last almost an entire high school geometry period.
Skip it: Disgustipated, unless youre on shrooms with a friend youre looking to piss off.

4. Fear Inoculum (2019)

This is what people who dont like Tool think Tool sounds like. The six main tracks all run over ten minutes. You get the sense that the shortest of these, the 10:05 Culling Voices, was carefully dragged out just to get it over 9:59. The interludes are just ridiculous they cant even let their strongest asset, drummer Danny Carey, rip without including an incredibly irritating synthesizer on Chocolate Chip Trip. We havent even gotten to the level of pretension required to name a song Pneuma. This thing wasnt worth waiting for thirteen months let...

Review: boygenius the record "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

Supergroups are often far less than the sum of their parts, but it would be a mistake to write off boygenius debut full-length as a whimsical side project for the trios illustrious members. the record contains some of the most brutal technical death metal and blackened crust tracks this side of Scandinavia.

Opening track Without You Without Them provides a quick, haunting prelude before the album hurtles into the crushing brutality of $20. Drummer Phoebe Bridgers (Goregrifters, Decrapitated) frantic, chaotic rhythms lay the jagged foundation that allow her fellow musicians to discover new depths of sonic bile. Bridgers unleashes double-kick blast beats so tight, youd be forgiven for thinking she has four legs. The drumming in Emily Im Sorry simulates gunfire and artillery perhaps a little too well I was so scared while listening in my car that I accidentally drove into a froyo shop and hit three people and destroyed two frozen yogurt machines.

If guitarist Lucy Dacus (Botched Vasectomy, Mausoleum Hemsworth) dizzying sweep picking doesnt leave your shoes covered in vomit, her revolting 8-string guitar tone will. The grinding, clanging chugs carry Cool About It to its epic, dissonant conclusion. Eat your fucking heart out, Meshuggah. Normally Id complain about a 6-minute guitar solo like in Anti-Curse, but Lucys fretboard gymnastics never lull for a second.

Vocalist Julien Baker (30,000 Megatons of Shit, Casketweaver) summons sounds out of her voice that few humans have ever produced. Vicious pig squeals, guttural growls, and ghoulish black metal shrieks all make the record a horrifying, hypnotic experience. Her screams on Satanist make Behemoths The Satanist sound like Gordon Lightfoot. boygenius lyrics traffic in blasphemy in ways that would make Anton LeVey blush.

boygenius have just laid waste to the ideas of what a metal supergroup can be. Bloodbath, Dead Cross, and The Haunted all better take notes, lest they be left in the trail of brain chunks and spinal fluid left behind by the record.

We Looked Back at Those Demos We Gave Out Sophomore Year and They Are Even More Embarrassing Than We Remember "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

It was the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year. I demoed 3 new songs and gave them out to anyone that would take one on the last day of school. And now that Im listening again? Oof. Way more embarrassing than I remembered. Like, WAY more.

I knew they werent perfect. I was a bratty little emo kid at the time and it showed on those songs. I figured it would be listenable at least. But I was wrong. So wrong.

Whenever we played live we were tight but for some reason in the recordings, the drums are just a little off from the guitar and bass. Wait, were we out of sync live too but just never noticed? Oh God, I wonder how many of my bands actually sucked this whole time.

This sounds awful. How is there so much tinny reverb? Where did that even come from?

Then the real source of shame: The vocals. These were some of the cringiest, pseudo-poetic Conor Oberst knock-off lyrics, dripping with Melodyne artifacts on every word. The harmonies sound like a robot!

Every song was about this girl Julie from my bio class, despite my assuring everyone they definitely were in no way about her. Its totally a coincidence her name is in the lyrics and that the girl Im singing about is described as looking exactly like her wearing that green hoodie she wears literally every day. Everyone had to have known, right? How could they not?!

Wow, Im embarrassed for younger me just thinking about this now. Brutal. Its crazy to think how dumb and weird and not-self-aware I was back then. Anyway, check out my latest record which I assure you is not about the barista at the Starbucks next to my apartment and is totally meant to be microtonal.

Punk Savant Can Tell If You Have an Extra Cigarette From Two Hundred Yards Away "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

NEW YORK Punk savant Jacob Alvarez was reportedly born with an uncanny ability to spot a person with an extra cigarette from over two hundred yards away, confirmed sources who considered quitting smoking entirely to avoid him.

The science nerds are really going to want to know about this natural talent, and Marvel might even want to create a new superhero based on my superpower, said Alvarez before experiencing a tingly sensation that notified him of an extra American Spirit a mere four blocks away. I think having a certificate or something that says my gift is real will go a long way towards getting me to a point where I could theoretically afford to buy a few of my own cigarettes. I mean, I still intend to bum them, mostly. Gotta keep the muscle sharp. Theres no way Superman buys his own cigarettes.

Alvarezs acquaintance Anne Towers confirmed that he had bummed cigarettes from her no less than three hundred times in the last eight years.

Its ridiculous, said Towers. Hell come out of nowhere, like, all the time. One time I was hiking in the Adirondacks with my dog, miles away from any other people, and this fucking guy comes running through the trees, insisting that I have an extra Marlboro he could bum. I thought I had him, finally, because I was absolutely certain I didnt have any left. He was right though. I had two buried in my pack. Bastard.

Dr. Steven Green of New York Universitys Cognitive Imaging Group will conduct a five-week study into Alvarezs alleged psychic powers.

This young man could very well be the eighth wonder of the world, said Dr. Green. Mr. Alvaarezs natural talent for spotting a bummable item from a stranger nearly two football fields away makes him a fascinating subject unique to the animal kingdom. While some birds and primates can be trained to spot and obtain small objects for their handlers, Jacobs preternatural mooching-at-distance is both notably selfish and scientifically unexplainable. Not to mention a real burden for smokers in his vicinity.

As of press time, Alvarez discovered that he could also spot an open bar event from nearly three hundred feet away.

Scientists Think Theyve Figured Out Why Clowns Are Actually Terrifying "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Its always kind of stunned me that kids dont find clowns completely terrifying. The makeup, the clothes, the antics, the forced proximity and, you know, the fact that theyre not funny at all adds up to them being deeply sus.

At least to adults.

Ive wondered what it is that turns these fun-loving actors into nightmare fuel for awhile, and if you have too, good news science says they think they have answers.

Study Shows Mothers Who Earn More Than Dads Do More of the Housework "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

A recent study has found that mothers who earn more than their male counterparts tend to take on a majority of the chores. The study, conducted by the University of Connecticut and published in the journal of Sociology of Education, sheds light on an often-overlooked aspect of gender dynamics in relationships.

The study surveyed over 1,000 married or cohabitating couples with children under the age of 13. Researchers found that when mothers earned more than their partners, they tended to do more of the housework as well as the child care. This was particularly true when the couple help traditional gender beliefs when the mother believed that it was her responsibility to take care of the household and children.

The study also found that when mothers earned more, they were more likely to report feelings of guilt about not being able to do more for their families. This guilt was compounded when the mother believed that her partner was not doing enough to help around the house.

These findings challenge the notion that higher-earning women are more likely to have partners who take on a greater share of domestic work. In reality, the opposite seems to be true: when women earn more, they take on more domestic responsibilities, often due to societal expectations and gender norms.

This study highlights the need for greater recognition and support for working mothers. Women who earn more than their partners should not be expected to shoulder the majority of domestic responsibilities, and men should be encouraged to take on a more equal share of the housework and child care. This is not only fair, but it also benefits the entire family, as research has shown that fathers who are involved in their childrens lives have better outcomes in terms of academic achievement and mental health.

To address this issue, employers can offer more flexible work arrangements, such as telecommuting or flexible hours, to allow parents to better balance their work and family responsibilities. Policymakers can also implement policies that support working families, such as paid family leave and affordable child care.

In conclusion, the study shows that gender dynamics in relationships can be complex, particularly when it comes to household responsibilities. Mothers who earn more than their partners are more likely to take on a greater share of the housework and child care, even when they hold traditional gender beliefs. To support working mothers, we need to challenge societal expectations and promote more equal sharing of domestic responsibilities between partners.

5 Common Ways Men Turn Women Off In Relationships "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Building a successful relationship requires effort, time and patience from both sides. However, sometimes men unintentionally turn women off in relationships, as do women causing strain and possibly leading to the end of a relationship, causing strain and possibly leading to the end of the relationship.

In order to save their relationship and your time, it is essential for men to be aware of the things that turn women off, so that they can make a conscious effort to avoid them.

1. Lack of Communication

Communication is key in any relationship, but to women, communication is everything. When men do not communicate openly with their partners, it can cause tension in a relationship and misunderstanding. Women want their partners to be open and honest with them, and to work through problems, rather than just dancing around them and forcing the woman in the relationship to keep it all down.

2. The Burden of Unshared Chores

Typically, the woman in the relationship carries the load of household responsibilities on herself. When the man pitches in, the act is usually labeled as help or support, when in reality it is just carrying their own weight.

This unfair division of household chores can cause severe relationship problems. For instance, a recent study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found women who did the larger proportion of the household labor relative to their partners felt lower sexual desire for their partners, as they felt it to be unfair.

Another study from the University of Bath found that women who earn more than men do more of the household work than their male partners.

3. Boring Physical Activity

The most common way that we see sex paints the female orgasm as secondary and the male orgasm as key. Putting more effort into female satisfaction will get you so much further.

3. Lack of Emotional Connection

Emotional connection is crucial in a relationship. Women want to feel emotionally connected to their partners, and when they dont, it can be a turn-off. Men need to show interest in their partners thoughts, feelings, and experiences to create emotional connection. When men are emotionally unavailable, it can cause their partners to feel neglected and unimportant.

4. Lack of Respect

Respect is a fundamental aspect of any relationship. Women want to be treated with respect, and when men dont show it, it can be a major turn-off. This includes being respectful of their partners time, opinions, and boundaries. When men dont respect their partners boundaries, it can lead to feelings of mistrust and discomfort in the relationship.

5. Lack of Effort

Relationships require effort from both partners. When men dont put in the effort to maintain the relationship, it can be a major turn-off for women. This includes taking the time to plan dates, showing affection, and making...

The Dorito Effect A Surprising Truth about Food and Flavor "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Editors Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published June 3, 2018.

In his book "The Dorito Effect: The Surprising New Truth About Food and Flavor," award-winning journalist and author, Mark Schatzker, investigates the introduction of flavor into the industrialized food supply. An investigative journalist by profession, Schatzker's curiosity about flavor led him to eventually write two books addressing this issue. The first, "Steak: One Man's Search for the World's Tastiest Piece of Beef" was, as the title implies, about steak.

"I got deep into the science of flavor [and] the science of how we perceive flavor. But I also [asked a] question that we rarely ask, which is 'Why does food have flavor?' We think it's all very simple. We take for granted of the fact that apples taste like apples and steak tastes like steak. But then when you start to get inside it, it becomes very interesting," he says.

"I would visit a ranch and there would be a field of pregnant cows and a field of steers. The rancher would say, 'Oh, the pregnant cows are in a field of clover because they need a lot of protein [when] they're pregnant.' Cows don't even know what protein is, so how does a cow know what to eat?

The answer is flavor feedback. They seek out the flavors that bring their bodies what they need. It's something we are certainly very alienated from ... We tend to think there's an inverse relationship between health and deliciousness. I set out to do that steak book thinking, 'It might be that the best steak I find is awful for the cow [and] horrible for the planet; it's like a heart attack on a plate.'

What I found, oddly, was that the most delicious steak was the best for the planet, nicest for the cow and the best for me. I thought, 'This is not what I expected. This is not what we were taught to expect. Is there something going on here?' ... [I]n nature ... delicious flavors guide animals to the foods they need. So, I asked what is a simple question with a very complex answer, which is, 'Does it work that way for humans?'"

The History of the Dorito

The story of the Dorito starts with the late Archibald Clark West, a marketing executive who, in the 1950s, worked on the Jell-O Pudding account. In 1960, the Frito company offered him the position of vice president of sales and marketing. (Shortly thereafter, Frito merged with the Lay's chip company to become Frito-Lay....

How Jimmy Dore Broke Out of the Propaganda Matrix "IndyWatch Feed Health"

In this interview, one of my favorite comedians, Jimmy Dore, and I discuss the propaganda machine surrounding all things COVID. Ive posted many of his videos on this site, as I enjoy his direct and incisive commentary. Like me, Dore grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He packed up his belongings and drove to Los Angeles, California, in 1995, and never looked back.

Everything worked out in Los Angeles for me when I got to town, he says. It was a real refuge being around all the other comedians and actors and artists. I got lucky, I got an agent right away and I was able to get on television right away. So everything worked out.

Exiting the Matrix

I'm impressed with Dores critical thinking skills because, like most people, he got caught up in the propaganda and believed the COVID jab would be a good strategy. He took the shot, suffered side effects from it, and had to find a holistic physician who was able to guide him back to health.

Unlike most people, however, Dore was able to put two and two together after that, and realized hed been duped. The shot was nowhere near as safe (or effective) as they claimed. After that realization, he started seeing through other propaganda narratives as well.

I was completely propagandized, he says. I have a bone condition that I have to treat every day, so I was afraid. They made it sound like if you got COVID, it's going to go find the most vulnerable part of your body, it's going to infect it and kill you. So, I was convinced that if I got it, it was going to go right to my bones and kill me.

I was scared to death. So, I knew I was going to take the vaccine and I was afraid to look into it. This is true, right? Because I knew I was going to take it anyway, and because both of my doctors had told me to take it, because they didn't know any better. None of us knew at the time that they were suppressing accurate information. I didn't know that. Neither did my doctors.

At that time, we didn't know there were other doctors out there with another narrative. I didn't know about the Great Barrington Declaration. I didn't know there were leading scientists and doctors who had a different idea. I didn't know what a criminal Dr. Fauci was. I didn't know that he did the same thing in the AIDS crisis.

So, I took the vaccine, I got sick, and never got better. It was just horrible side effects. I had 180/120 blood pressure. I could have had a stroke at any moment. I had nerve pain, nerve damage. I was diagnosed with occipital neuralgia, which if you know what that is, it's the most wicked stiff neck you've ever had in your life....

COVID Doctor Who Lost Hospital Job Has a Vision for Health Care "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Before the COVID pandemic, Dr. Paul Marik became well-known for his development of a highly effective sepsis protocol using intravenous vitamin C, which resulted in a dramatic reduction in mortality rates. Then, in 2020, he cofounded the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) and subsequently published one of the most comprehensive and effective protocols for treating COVID-19.

Despite a stellar career up to that point, the sin of insisting on early treatment for COVID-19, and sharing that information with the public, resulted in him being vilified, discredited and ultimately forced to resign. I'm a veteran of this too, so much so that the first two times I attempted to interview Marik, he turned down the invitation, in part because of how I was being portrayed by the media.

"I was still digesting what was happening and I was unsure," Marik says. "I didn't realize how important you are in telling the truth and standing up for the truth. I was a little bit protective. We have subsequently met and, obviously, you're one of my heroes because you stand up for the truth and you've known about the dishonesty, the deceit, the deception for much longer than I have.

I had swallowed the Kool-Aid. I was a tenured professor of medicine. I was the only one tenured in my department, in fact. I believed the medical literature, I believed the narrative. I believed what I taught, and you can understand how disturbing it is to one's very core when you discover that what you've been teaching and promoting is based on lies, falsehood and deception."

Indeed, it's a hard pill to swallow for anyone, and I applaud Marik for having the courage and moral fortitude to follow the real evidence and not back down from the truth once it dawned on him. Some can't handle it and simply stick their head in the sand and pretend they don't know what they know.

COVID Revealed What the Medical System Is All About

As noted by Marik, COVID changed not only the world but medicine as well. Before COVID, intensive care specialists were relatively insulated against the evils of Big Pharma and they had therapeutic freedom. Their job was to save the patient using whatever means available, and they did so.

That changed when COVID came around. Suddenly, doctors were told to send patients home, without treatment, until or unless they were unable to breathe, at which point they were to put them on mechanical ventilation and follow a strict drug protocol. Together, these treatments proved deadly for most patients.

Marik was among those who refused to accept this and set...

Who are the Children of Abraham? "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Abramo ripudia Agar e Ismaele by Guercino in 1657. Source. More info on artist.

by Brian Shilhavy

The answer to the question, Who are the children of Abraham?, is one that has been largely misunderstood and corrupted by religious dogma for thousands of years now.

And yet, the answer to this question is very clearly, and very exhaustively, explained in the New Testament portion of the Bible, primarily in the writings of the apostle (ambassador, or emissary) Paul.

One of the best explanations of who are the children of Abraham is in Pauls letter to the believers in Galatia in the First Century. Galatia was a province in the Roman Empire at the time, in what is today central Turkey.

Paul and his companions traveled through the region bringing the Good News (gospel) about Jesus Christ to the people, and as a result, congregations of believers in Christ were formed in some of the cities.

From the Jewish perspective, these people would be considered Greeks or Gentiles, because they were not ethnic Jews, and they had no physical genealogy back to Abraham.

The setting for Pauls letter to the believers congregating in Galatia, was a controversy that had arisen in the First Century between the ethnic and religious Jews and the non-Jews (Gentiles) who had become disciples of Jesus Christ.

The controversy had started in Antioch, just north of Damascus, and apparently spread to Galatia as well.

This controversy started with the Jews who had accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah, but believed that Gentile believers had to basically become part of Judaism, the Jewish religion based on the teachings of Moses, often referred to as The Law, because it encompassed the Ten Commandments and all the other laws delivered to Moses, which are recorded in the first 5 books of the Old Testament section of the Bible.

These Jewish believers insisted that the Gentile believers had to obey all the laws of Moses, including becoming circumcised.

Cats Annual Playlist "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Where words fail music speaksBy Cathy Jameson

For years, Ive loved a quote by Lao Tzu, The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  The first time I read that quote I pictured myself running those thousand miles.  Can you imagine what youd get to see on that long of a journey!

A former long-distance runner, I loved running through the Texas hill country back in high school.  I was state ranked and enjoyed being outside, being on the road, just running.  Id pass ranches, horses, cows, quiet neighborhoods, and also the wilderness.

With youth on my side, I bet I thought I could easily run up to one thousand miles during cross country and track seasons.  These days, with youth not on my side, I sometimes need to psych myself up to go just one step.

Take one step toward the file cabinet to file that important paperwork.

Go one step toward the kitchen to start dinner.

Stand up and take one step with Ronan to assist him in the bathroom.

As I prepped this post, my annual playlist I like to share each April, I could only think of one song that I wanted to share.  That song came on the radio soon after Ronans big sister and I talked about that favorite quote of mine.  Its a love song I heard, but after watching Ronan last week while we were away on a family vacation, the lyrics could be part of his story, my story our story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk3XycambgI

So many times, and not just when were away, he needs to be brave.  So many times, things are hard for him.  They can be for us, too.  Too many times, Ive caught myself thinkingit didnt have to be like this.  But it is like this!  For all of us, including Ronan, this is hard.  Its sometimes scary.  And it is exhausting.  I cant dwell on the should-have-beens for too long, though.

We may stumble. ...
