Christian Dior Exhibition in Tokyo Comes Alive With Incredible Architectural Backdrops

Dior Exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo
Photography by Daici Ano, Image Courtesy of Dior

Clothing by the fashion house Christian Dior speaks for itself. So when creating a space for an extensive retrospective, the setting must be as exquisite as the garmentswithout overpowering the designs on view. Architect Shohei Shigematsu, a partner at Dutch studio OMA, has done that with the interior design for the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.

The incredible exhibition features clothing, purses, periodicals, and more, all among alluring sets. One of the standouts is a pyramidal staircase that features 35 pieces of Dior haute-couture. The mannequins are set on platforms within the staircase, which itself illuminates with animations.

Each exhibition space references elements that are shared between Japanese tradition and culture as well as Diors history and its contemporary clothing collections. The pyramidal staircase, for instance, is inspired by long, processional stairs leading to traditional Japanese shrines. But overall, the elements are wide-ranging and refer to themes in the fashion house's work, construction techniques, and more.

Shigematsu, it turns out, was just the right person to design the interior. The fashion exhibition is a domain that requires architecture to become a narrative medium. We wanted to expand and diversify potentials for storytelling through a retrospective that not only looks back at history but brings new life and relevance to todays culture. As a Japanese architect tr...

Expressive Women Emerge through a Haze of Oil Paint in Rosso Emerald Crimsons Portraits "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

An oil painted portrait of a Black woman seated wearing a white gown

All images Rosso Emerald Crimson, shared with permission

Against backdrops of streaky paint strokes, scratches, and remnants of patterned wallpaper, Rosso Emerald Crimson (previously) depicts women at ease, their figures emerging from a haze of gauzy gowns and masses of hair. The London-based artist is interested in womens psychology as she visualizes aspects of the feminine that vacillate from the confident and assured to the demure. Dressed in full garments that mask much of their bodies, the subjects facial expressions and comportments are the central focus. Crimson elaborates:

The field of emotions that I represent fluctuates from the plein naf to the melancholic to the bold and fierce, and these are purely based on my very personal state of being while I create. That is why, paradoxically, the more colourful and outspoken the paintings appear, the more introspective they are. I do feel like subconsciously I am funnelling all my experience as a woman, with my failures, and success, my irrationality and wisdom, my fears and dreams.

Crimsons painting Waiting for my Valentine is on view at MEAM in Barcelona through June 25, and she was recently chosen to participate in Artdom, a program matching artists from two different countries, which will open its next exhibition on April 22 in Oslo. Wildlife Photographers Unite in New Book To Highlight Beauty of Endangered Animals

The New Big 5 by Graeme Green

This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase, My Modern Met may earn an affiliate commission. Please read our disclosure for more info.

A decade ago, British photographer Graeme Green was on assignment in Africa when he stumbled upon an idea to promote the conservation of wildlife. Big 5 was a phrase once used by big-game hunters to describe the African wildlife that was the most difficult to track and kill. Green wanted to transform the meaning, and instead of shooting these animals with guns, they'd be shot with cameras in an effort to educate the public.

Over the course of many years, Green spoke with fellow wildlife photographers about his concept and, in 2020, the project was launched. The Big 5 would no longer be associated with the end of life, but with a celebration of the animals that are most at risk on our planet. A public vote was held to decide what The New Big 5 would be, with the elephant, polar bear, lion, gorilla, and tiger coming out on top.

The original project saw leading photographers like Ami Vitale, Cristina Mittermeier, Thomas Vijayan, and many more lending their images to highlight the threats that endangered species are currently facing. Now, Green is releasing a book, The New Big 5, in order to continue his mission of helping the animals that need it the most.

Elegant Animals Commune and Contemplate in Hand-Carved Wooden Sculptures by Nikichi "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A carved wood sculpture of two polar bears embracing.

All images Nikichi

From the long, graceful turn of a rabbits ears to the cozy embrace of polar bears, Nikichi summons the emotional nuances of intimacy, solitude, and contemplation in his delicately carved sculptures. Carefully exposed wood grain shapes knees and cheeks, paws clasp together in repose, and winged visitors perch on delicately-hewn noses.

The Hokkaido-based artist has been sculpting animals for around a decade, interested in the ways that people relate to fluffy, recognizable creatures like bunnies and cats by anthropomorphizing their expressions and actions as a means of understanding and connecting to them. He fuses human and animal characteristics to explore what he describes as the story of human sociality and life by overlapping the wildness and instinctiveness of animals, populating a harmonious, mythical world.

5D Shift: Inflexion Point in Society Anchoring the Emergent Light "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

From openhandweb.org: We're entering a major inflexion point in the Shift that's bound to impact society. The controllers are efforting to chaperone the system with greater financial control. But all the while, the old karmic construct is losing its power. The light of a new Star Being consciousness is breaking through. It's essential evolving souls anchor in this new light for the greatest possible upliftment in our own lives, but also to ripple ever wider afield through the world. Let's double down on our focus.

Manufactured Banking Crisis

It looks like the next card the controllers are dropping in this great game of charades is a manufactured banking crisis. This last year, we've witnessed the fastest interest rate rise in human history which, has fractured the business models of many banks - they're struggling to keep their heads above water. It's clearly been engineered to introduce the new Central Bank Digital Currencies. On the one hand, it can manage the burgeoning global debt mountain more expediently, but also, it's clear they'll try to use it to apply greater control over people's lives. Let's be abundantly clear, no matter what the doomers and gloomers tell you, the controllers will NOT get it all their own way. Genuine cryptocurrency came into being in 2009, after the last credit crunch. It's a "white hat" gift from the Star Being consciousness to break the hegemony of the financial controllers. Right now, over 1 million people in the USA hold some amount of Bitcoin, and despite the obvious suppression of this bright new industry by the shadow, it's still thriving and the industry blossoming with exciting new developments daily.
It reminds me of the story of the little boy seeing a leak in the dyke and putting his finger in to block it - yet sure enough, new leaks began springing up all around him until the dyke broke apart...

Stunning English Orchard set to be DESTROYED for bus lane to help with climate change "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

From unitynewsnetwork.co.uk:

Hundreds of trees in an orchard designated as a habitat of principal importance in England should be felled to build a new busway to tackle climate change, councillors in Cambridgeshire voted on Tuesday.

The county council voted by 33 to 26 to approve a new public transport busway, which will use optically guided electric or hybrid buses on its route, to provide links between Cambridge and Cambourne, an expanding new town eight miles outside the city.

Huge public opposition to the felling of trees in Coton Orchard has led to thousands of people signing a petition calling for them to be saved. Coton Orchard contains about 1,000 trees and grows 26 varieties of apples, as well as pears and plums.

The vote came a week after Plymouth city council felled more than 100 mature trees in a scheme to regenerate and transform the city with a new walkway from the sea to the city centre.

Anna Gazeley, whose family owns Coton Orchard and who is part of the Coton Busway Action Group against the threatened destruction of part of the orchard, addressed councillors in Cambridgeshire on Tuesday. She said: Traditional orchards are hotspots of biodiversity in the countryside, supporting a wide range of wildlife as well as an array of nationally rare and nationally scarce species.

They are designated habitats of primary importance and rightly accorded protections There is no question that this route will result in this loss to the environment.

She said the contention by the Greater Cambridgeshire Partnership which is putting forward the bus route that the effects would be mitigated off-site to be non-significant in 15 to 30 years was contested.

Lincoin Technologies Launches Rails Programming Tool For Bitcoin Miners "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Lincoin Technologies introduces Rails programming tool for Bitcoin miners to optimize their operations in real-time.

Lincoin Technologies, a Vancouver-based firm, has launched a new programming tool for the Bitcoin mining industry known as Rails. The software solution aims to enable Bitcoin miners to optimize their operations, source energy more efficiently and maximize profits through the integration of real-time data from over 20,000 grid nodes in nine deregulated electricity markets in Canada and the U.S.

According to the press release sent to Bitcoin Magazin, Rails will allow miners and energy producers to automate tasks for large-scale operations, adjust energy use by algorithmically under and over-clocking ASICs and protect their profit margins based on real-time bitcoin prices and network statistics.

Medi Naseri, the CEO of Lincoin Technologies, expressed excitement at the launch of Rails, saying, "Our team has been working hard and smart to develop a tool that addresses the most pressing challenges facing Bitcoin miners now and in the near term. With Rails, miners can take their operations to the next level by automating and optimizing their energy use, reducing operational costs, and increasing profits. We help miners minimize the challenges of Bitcoin mining and move toward real-time energy trading."

Rails is designed to meet the specific needs of Bitcoin miners and is compatible with all Antminer and Whatsminer mining ASIC models. The software is customizable, and is backed by a team of experienced professionals available to support and guide users, the press release states.

The company believes that the introduction of Rails will enable miners to maximize their profitability while minimizing the challenges of Bitcoin mining. More information about Rails can be found at the Lincoin Technologies website.

Watch the Worlds First Film in Babylonian, The Poor Man of Nippur "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Enable subtitles, says the notification that appears before The Poor Man of Nippur and you will need them, unless, of course, you happen to hail from the cradle of civilization. The short film is adapted from a folktale based on a 2,700-year-old poem about a pauper, says the University of Cambridges alumni news, acted out word-for-word by Assyriology students and other members of the Mesopotamian community at the University. The result qualifies as the worlds very first film in Babylonian, a language that has been silent for 2,000 years.

Found on a clay tablet at the archaeological site of Sultantepe, in south-east Turkey, the story of The Poor Man of Nippur hasnt come down to us in perfectly complete form. The film represents the points of breakage in the tablet with VHS-style glitches, a neat parallel of forms of media degradation across the millennia.

She discussed the legal framework for which this is happening and provides ways to circumvent the WHO/BIS/DOD initiatives that undermine sovereignty. Message from the 17th Special Operation Group We are currently engaged in a critical battle, and time is of the essence. While many may not yet realize it, this battle has been underway for decades. Your participation and action are crucial to the success of our mission. The recent efforts towards Reconstitution, led by President Trump, were aimed at restoring the constitutional principles of the Executive and Judicial branches. However, this is just the beginning. We must continue to fight to address the deep-seated issues within our government. As part of the "We the People" initiative, it is important to understand that this is a real-time political exercise, both top-down and bottom-up. Regardless of who is in the presidency, our mission remains the same: to regain control of our communities from the bottom up. It is imperative that we take action now. Our children are being indoctrinated, our principles and values are under attack. The importance of citizen participation and government accountability cannot be overstated, no matter where you live. Is He Wrong for Saying His Stepdaughter Overreacted? Heres What People Said. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Uh ohits another one of those stories from Reddits Am I the A**hole? page where someone gets really worked up about a food allergyor someone elses food allergy

But lets get all the details before we make up our minds, okay?

Read on to see what happened!

AITA for suggesting my stepdaughter is overreacting over her milk?

My wife and I (both 40) have a kid each from previous relationships, mine is Connor (18M) and hers is Sasha (16F), my son has a girlfriend, Hannah(17F) and both her and Sasha are lactose intolerant.

Sasha spends half the month with us, so we always have normal and lactose-free milk, Ill admit, Sashas milk is quite expensive because she only likes certain kind that she can also drinks alone and not with just coffees or smoothies.

Now the issue is, Hannah spends almost 3 to 4 days here and my wife and I dont mind at all, but Sasha has complaint several times that Hannah drinks her milk as fuel during those days and barely leaves anything for her (we go to the supermarket every 2 weeks, Sasha can go to any nearby store and get more, tho, not the one she likes) and has asked us to either buy gallon for her only and one for Hannah or tell her to go buy her own milk.

My wife decided to just buy Sasha a small fridge to keep in her room so she can store her milk and other things there which I find very disrespectful, I mean its just milk, we can always buy more.

This has caused Hannah to ask if she can borrow a bit of milk every time she wants to drink a coffee with us, and Sasha says yes, most times, but when she decides Hannah has had enough milk, she says shes almost running out (which is a lie).

A few days ago, before Sasha was about to come back from h...

Sometimes, Getting Back With Your Ex Is the Right Choice "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

The other day, I was scrolling through my social media, and I saw a reel in which a woman was giving relationship advice to someone who was asking about her ex. What stuck out to me, was that this woman who was giving advice didnt ask any type of probing questions about the situation before shutting the woman down by saying, if hes your ex, then he belongs in your past.

Something about this immediately gave me a gross feeling in my stomach. The vibe this was giving was very close-minded at best. What I wanted to say was, How dare you to assume anything about this persons doubts about breaking it off with their ex. Just because someone is an ex doesnt mean that they should be written off entirely.

We all make mistakes. For example, lets say that Lucy, in the heat of an angry moment, decides to break it off with her ex. She says he doesnt invest enough time in the relationship, so it isnt working, so why even keep trying? Later, she thinks about things and realizes that while he hasnt been attentive lately, he was in the past, and she then begins to realize that he has a lot going on in his life and that maybe she could have been more supportive of him. So, she reaches out, they reconnect, work through the rough patch, and spend their lives together.

This might sound like a fairy tale, but it happens more often than you think.

Now, with that being said, I am NOT saying to cling to someone who is a lost cause. What I am saying, is that we all have difficult moments, and we all make mistakes. So, before you let someone write off your ex entirely, perhaps you should listen to your own gut. Why? Because the choice to break up isnt always the best one, and deep down, you are the only one who knows what is best for you.

6 Bad Kid Behaviors That Should Be Stopped Immediately "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Kids are still developing, so they are not going to act great all the time. However, some behaviors call for swift action, otherwise, they could develop into long-term personality traits that are unsavory, to say the least.

The question is, where do you draw the lines? What behaviors are acceptable, normal, or even just par of the course, and which ones are completely intolerable? Well, I am glad you asked. Below, I am going to go over 6 bad kid behaviors that if you notice, you need to put a stop to immediately, before things get out of hand.

1. Entitlement.

We all want to give our kids what they want, but when you give them everything they want, you are entering into dangerous territory. Why? Because when you give your child everything they want, whenever they want it, they are going to grow a sense of entitlement. Unfortunately, this can develop into a far more serious issue later down the line.

2. Bullying.

Bullying should come with a zero-tolerance policy. If you notice your child knocking kids down on the playground and stealing their ball, you need to step in and correct them swiftly. Otherwise, you may end up with a grown person who goes around pushing others around.

3. Lying.

A white lie is one thing, but when your child begins lying about everything, you need to put it to a stop. Call out the behavior immediately and place consequences for the behavior. Be consistent, and NEVER set them up to lie.

4. Disrespect for authority.

We live in a world where there are governing authorities over your child, over you, and everyone else. This is for a reason because in many cases, we need order in this world. If your child does not respect rules or authority, they are going to struggle in this world.

5. Aggression.

Aggression is never a good thing. Yes, we all have our bad days, but if your child is hitting, smacking, talking hatefully, and otherwise behaving aggressively regularly, then something is amiss. Either you address this behavior now, or it will bloom into a very massive issue.

6. Laziness.

Your child needs to have a work ethic because that is how you survive in this world and succeed. If you notice your child is a tad lazy, make work fun. Create a chore list and make your child stick to it. When they do, reward them with small rewards like an allowance or treats. This will reinforce motivation.

10 Signs Of Autism Most People Wouldnt Recognize "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

When we think of people who fall on the autism spectrum, many of much like Sam from Atypical, or Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. However, because autism does fall on a spectrum, there are likely a lot of signs that you would never know were signs of autism.

Autism spectrum disorder is a disorder that is typically diagnosed by a team of specialists who have vast experience in the field of autism. So, please, do not go over this list and decide that you are autistic or that your child is. Ultimately, you need to be diagnosed by a professional because, in some capacity, many of us have symptoms that are similar, but not to the extent of someone who is autistic.

With that said, autism is a type of neurodivergent that causes a persons brain to function in ways that are not aligned with someone who would be considered neurotypical.

If you are curious about some of the lesser-known signs of autism, youve come to the right place. Here are 10 signs.

1. Gastrointestinal issues.

While the cause is unknown, the majority of those who have ASD also deal with difficult stomach problems more frequently than their neurotypical counterparts. Some symptoms may include nausea, constipation, chronic diarrhea, and more.

2. Behavioral issues.

Many people with ASD have repetitive behaviors, and in the case of behavioral issues, it may be hard to get them to break bad habits. Oftentimes, medication can be used, but not all of those who fall on the spectrum respond to meds.

3. Difficulty understanding sarcasm or jokes.

Autistic individuals have a hard time reading social cues or reading between the lines. When someone says something to them in a sarcastic tone, they are very likely to take it literally, unless it is explained to them.

4. Deficits in social communication and interaction.

Those who fall on the spectrum may struggle in social interactions for several reasons. In some extreme cases, they may not even be able to speak at all.

5. Odd posture.

From the outside looking in, the way someone with ASD moves or holds themselves may seem odd. Many believe this is due to the differences in their inner ear and vestibular system, which can make it difficult for them to orient themselves. Additionally, they may struggle with fears of movement and move strangely because of that.

6. Stimming.

Stimming is self-stimulatory behavior, which is a set of repetitive movements or sounds that people with ASD may engage in to help themselves calm down. Examples of this may be tugging at their hair, rubbing their arm, or murmuring certain words when under duress.

7. Toe walking.

Some individuals with ASD walk on their toes or the balls of their feet, instead of walking on their entire feet. This is likely tied to the above issues associated with odd posture.

8. Spea...

6 Ways To Build A Stronger Mother-Son Relationship "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Research has shown that the closer a mother and son are, the more likely they are to be well-adjusted in life. Not only that, but as mothers, nothing makes us happier than to feel connected with our children.

The relationship your son has with you now will set the stage for how their future relationships will pan out. In many ways, you are teaching your son how to love and how to trust, by loving and trusting in him. The relationship between mother and son may be complex, but not so much that it cannot be hacked and even mastered.

Below, I am going to cover 6 ways to build a stronger relationship with your son.

1. Understand that his preferences will be different than yours.

Males communicate differently than women, and they tend to be more practical, non-verbal, and oriented toward action. With that said, there will be times when you will not see eye to eye and there will be times when you are speaking two different languages. So, seek to understand things from his point of view.

2. Teach him important life skills.

It is extremely important to show your child the skills necessary to be a fully functioning adult. So, teach him how to cook, teach him how to clean, teach him how to care for pets, and teach him how to manage his finances. Do not assume a woman will one day pick up his slack.

3. Spend quality time together doing things he enjoys.

Make sure that you make time for things that he enjoys, not just what you want him to enjoy. For example, you may want him to be a musician or to be an artist, while he may enjoy monster trucks. So, make time for what he enjoys and do it with him!

4. Encourage him to build strong bonds with others.

Help encourage your son to make friends, develop deep bonds with others, and empathize with others. Teach him how to love, by loving him and by connecting with him.

5. Respect him.

The thing about respect is that it is not taught, it is modeled. If you want your son to be a respectable young man, you need to show him respect and treat him like a person.

6. Allow him space and a voice.

Boys need space and independence. Do not crowd him and do not constantly hover over him. When he has an opinion, allow him to say it, and do not trample all over him.

Central Bank Digital Currency Is the Endgame Of Total Control "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The central bank cartel, headed by the Bank for International Settlements, is playing its CBDC card to dominate the world. Welcome to Fintech, the new financial arm of the Great Reset, the ordained financial system for Sustainable Development, aka Technocracy. The rise of central bankers is described in my book, The Evil Twins of Technocracy and Transhumanism. TN Editor

Central bank digital currency (CBDC) will end human freedom. Dont fall for the assurances of safeguards, the promises of anonymity and of data protection. They are all deceptions and diversions to obscure the malevolent intent behind the global rollout of CBDC.

Central Bank Digital Currency is the most comprehensive, far-reaching, authoritarian social control mechanism ever devised. Its interoperability will enable the CBDCs issued by various national central banks to be networked to form one, centralised global CBDC surveillance and control system. Should we allow it to prevail, CBDC will deliver the global governance of humanity into the hands of the bankers. CBDC is unlike any kind of money with which we are familiar. It is programmable and smart contracts can be written into its code to control the terms and conditions of the transaction. Policy decisions and broader pol...

Everyone is afraid to say it even conservative talk show hosts. Each and every day we witness more of it. The senseless crazy talk, the out of control dysphoria, men attempting to be something theyre not. Women who are trying to be something theyre not. The Tranny world of self-imposed insanity has impacted our society in ways we couldnt have imagined! The shooting in a Nashville, Tennessee clearly demonstrates that Transsexuals are not emotionally or psychologically normal! Not only are they undergoing powerful hormone transforming drugs or maturity blockers for the child who thinks he or her need to switch clothing and sexual roles, but for the adult Trannies who get in hissy fits with their warped lover and then go off the rails.

There is a history of this kind of irrational and dangerous behavior! In 2008 a train driver by the name of Sanchez was busy texting when his train load of cars crashed! According to the NTSB it was the worst train wreck in 15 years. Several texts had been received and sent at the moment of the crash! The news failed to include one particular fact left out of the equation of causes. Mr. Sanchez was a gender bender. Under the emotional stress caused by the hormone drugs that these Trannies are treated with, they become emotionally affected and in cases of great responsibility and dire consequences-untrustworthy!

Memories So Fair and Bright "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

SAN FRANCISCO The email announcement for Kimetha Vanderveen at Peter Mendenhall Gallery (February 11April 1, 2023) reminded me of the afternoon I spent in her sunlit studio in San Franciscos Hunters Point Shipyard at the end of October 2022. Until then I had seen her work only digitally, not in person. After an email introduction from a mutual friend, we met in a coffee shop in early February 2022 in New Yorks Koreatown. Even though I had no idea when, or even if, I would travel again at that point, I told Kimetha that I would visit her studio the next time I was in San Francisco. Something about the works modest scale and evocation of light through materiality piqued my curiosity. This is how, six months later, I ended up in her studio.

As Vanderveen began to show me her works, many of them nuanced monochromatic oil paintings on panels that were less than eight by eight inches, I returned to a question asked by Joe Brainard and Thomas Nozkowski: how big does a work of art have to be? Though certainly many abstract artists working monochromatically have made larger pieces, I did not feel that Vanderveens works needed...

SANTA FE Liberty without responsibility is not real liberty, reads a quote from revered Buddhist monk and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. How Did Early Modern European Craftspeople Pass On Their Knowledge? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Skill, kunst (art), and practical knowledge. These essential components formed the core of making objects and knowing about their material and utilitarian properties in 16th-century European workshops. In these spaces of bustling and collective creativity, artisans manually captured the likeness of living organisms using metals to make life molds and casts (processes that utilize a living model to make a form out of a respective medium, like metal, wax, or ceramic) of lizards, worms, frogs, and plants. Here I wonder, who was served by this vernacular knowledge and has it somehow been preserved through writing?

Did Van Goghs Disdain for the Eiffel Tower Inspire Starry Night? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Pinning down the many influences layered in Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night (1889) has been the task of many art historians over the years. Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusais The Great Wave (18301832) and American poet Walt Whitmans works, such as From Noon to Starry Night or Song of Myself, have been cited as possible references. Now, one scholar is proposing that the celebrations for the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower in Paris could have inspired the painting.

Photo of Pope Francis Wearing a Stylish Puffer Jacket Is Actually an AI-Generated Image

AI Generated Art of the Pope

Photo: AI-generated image of Pope Francis created with Midjourney

If youve been online over the past several days, you mightve seen a photo of Pope Francis sporting a stylish white puffer jacket. Its hard to ignore; the image of the 86-year-old sitting pontiff went viral. The whole vibe of the photo made him look hip and like he was walking off the fashion runway. But theres one big caveat with this image. Its not real. Its an AI-generated photo made using the art tool Midjourney.

The image is incredibly convincing and had many people fooled. One of the biggest clues that the photo is fakeand its subtleis the way in which the faux Pope is holding the cup in his right hand. AI is notoriously bad at rendering human hands, and this photo is no exception. But that small detail went unnoticed by many who didnt realize it was fake until they learned otherwise.

AI-generated art has given anyone the opportunity to create their own images. If they can communicate it through text prompts, it can be produced. This photo is no different. The person who generated it is named Pablo Xavier. Hes a 31-year-old construction worker from the Chicago area. I try to do funny stuff or trippy artpsychedelic stuff, he explained of the image. It just dawned on me: I should do the Pope. Then it was just coming like water: The Pope in Balenciaga puffy coat, Moncler, walking the streets of Rome, Paris, stuff like that.

Pablo generated the image on Friday, March 24, and then posted it to a Facebook group called AI Art Universe and later to Reddit. By Saturday, it was gaining momentum online; he was shocked at how quickly the image went viral. I was just blown away, he expressed. I didnt want it to blow up like that. To him, it was definitely scary that people believed the image to be real without questioning its veracity.

Building Warm Homes and Community at Pine Ridge Reservation "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

A home is so much more than its physical manifestation in the world. It is a place of togetherness, of gathering, of sharing, and of connecting. The mission of inourhands.love is to leverage their building technique to support those in need by providing warmth, stability, economic opportunity, and hope.

The act of building a home can be an enriching educational experience. In building a home people gain vocational skills, create art, forge friendships, and find meaning. Watch as they take their first steps toward fulfilling their mission on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

The homes they build are constructed from cellular concrete, a substance which is simultaneously insulating and structurally sound. This eliminates most if not all of the requirement for heating and cooling. In cold climates, the simple act of having the heat from five human bodies within one of their homes can be the difference between life and death.

Jeremy Renner Shares Video Update of Him Walking Again After Snowplow Accident

Actor Jeremy Renner, who suffered a harrowing snowplow accident a few months ago, is fortunately on the road to recovery. The star, best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was trying to help a family member free his vehicle from the snow on New Year's Day when disaster struck. The event left him critically injuredhe broke 30 bones and suffered blunt chest trauma, having to undergo two surgeries for his wounds. Now, showcasing some warrior energy his character is known for, he has shared a very positive health update.

Just a few days short of the three-month mark since the incident, Renner took to Twitter to post a video of himself walking on an anti-gravity treadmill. He captioned the video, I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will. On Instagram he wrote, I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will.

This is a massive improvement since the selfie he posted from a hospital bed just two days after the accident. Back then, he thanked fans and fellow celebrities for their kind words. A few weeks later, he shared a picture yet again lying on what looks like a hospital bed, but undergoing some kind of physical therapy. According to The Guardian, a report from the Nevada sheriff's office stated that Renner tried to protect his nephew after the snow slid...

Federal Prosecutors Charge Sam Bankman-Fried With Attempt To Bribe Chinese Officials With $40 Million "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In a new indictment unsealed on Tuesday, officials charged Sam-Bankman Fried with bribing Chinese officials to release frozen assets.

Federal prosecutors have accused Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), former CEO of failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, of attempting to bribe one or more Chinese government officials with $40 million, the goal being to release $1 billion worth of frozen digital assets belonging to his hedge fund, Alameda Research.

Bankman-Fried is already facing eight criminal counts of fraud and conspiracy and has not yet been arraigned on five others. He could face more than 155 years in prison if convicted on all counts the trial has been scheduled for October.

The new indictment against Bankman-Fried, unsealed by the Southern District Court of New York on Tuesday, alleges that Bankman-Fried devised fraudulent schemes to steal deposits from FTX with the aim of financing risky bets at Alameda Research. In addition, SBF contributed to American politicians without proper documentation, all while living in the Bahamas. FTXs collapse and subsequent bankruptcy left the industry reeling, as it was once one of the largest and most trusted exchanges.

SBF remains under house arrest at his parents home in Palo Alto, California, with restricted movements. Three of his former business partners, including FTX co-founder Gary Wang and Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison, have already pleaded guilty to their respective charges.

On Tuesday, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan approved a modification to Bankman-Frieds bail terms to limit his access to the internet. This move followed concerns about his use of a virtual private network, which masks the location of an internet connection. Bankman-Fried will be allowed to use a VPN only to access a database to help prepare his defense, via a laptop provided by his lawyers according to the modification.

Libra Full Moon Ritual April 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Libra Full Moon on April 5th invites us to reflect on how we choose to show up in our relationships.

It guides us to think about our interactions and how we can heal blocks, wounds, and traumas that prevent us from making deeper and more authentic relationships with others, ourselves, and the world around us.

Chiron, the asteroid known as the wounded healer, is very active under this Full Moon, and it invites us to find this healing not through fixing, but through acceptance. How can we accept all that we are? How can we accept the things that have happened? How can we see our wounds as portals to wisdom, strength, and greater love?

Chiron reminds us that wounding is part of our human experience, and rather than viewing our wounds as something that blocks, inhibits, or prevents us from doing things, our wounds can instead become fuel for a better and more purposeful life.

While the energies of the Full Moon will help guide us to this place, here is a ritual you can also try

Libra Heart Healing Full Moon Ritual

You will need:

Directions:

1.) Start by setting an intention for this ritual. State out loud or in your mind that you would like to use this Full Moon ritual to help heal any wounds related to your relationships and open up your heart to love and connection. Feel free to adjust the intention to suit whatever you need. As you state your intention, light your candle.

2.) Cleanse your aura using your aura cleansing tool of choice. As you cleanse, feel free to recite the following

My aura is cleansed; my light shines bright. May any and all that is heavy leave my heart space tonight. My heart is light. My heart is pure. My heart is aligned with my authentic self. My physical body radiates health; my emotional body radiates joy; my spirit body radiates peace. Thank you.

3.) Next, cleanse your surroundings and your ritual ingredients. As you do this, repeat

My space is cleansed. My space is protected. Only love and light radiate from this space.

4.) Get nice and comfortable and begin your...

When I Am Empty Please Dispose of Me Properly "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

BRICs spring Gallery exhibition, When I Am Empty Please Dispose of Me Properly, showcases seven artists whose work delves into the intertwined nature of desire and sadness. Through their pieces, Ayanna Dozier, Ilana Harris-Babou, Meena Hasan, Lucia Hierro, Catherine Opie, Chuck Ramirez, and Pacifico Silano explore the myths of the American Dream that shape and govern our personal narratives.

The artworks on display at BRIC House, Brooklyn, serve as a commentary on the cultural and societal expectations that have shaped our desires and aspirations. Drawing on Pop art and advertising aesthetics, When I Am Empty examines consumption through both its allure and contradiction, playing with ideas of mimicry, duplication, and violence. The works in the exhibition reveal that while the desire manufactured by advertising is pervasive and false, there is a desire and need for untangling and reimagining Americas obsession with the dream of upward mobility and economic freed...

Casey Currans Gilded Skeletal Sculptures and Kinetic Blooms Explore Bodily Degeneration "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

How does the connection between our bodies and memories change as we age? Artist Casey Curran (previously) attends to this question in a new series of kinetic sculptures. Titled Carrion Blooms, the works reference degeneration and decay and how the bodys stamina wanes. We can all recall those days when our energy seemed endless, twenty-four-hour benders where we somehow managed to cram everything in; work, school, hobbies, friends, and family. The time felt limitless with possibilities, Curran says.

Hand-cranks animate laser-cut insects and flowers made of mylar, which flutter, blossom, and retreat to their static positions. Emphasizing inevitable transformation and the fleeting nature of life, the artist likens the gilded skeletal structures to scaffolding, a prized foundation to place the future onCarrion Blooms is about how we change over time, how we use our days differently with age, and what it means to let go of the past, he says. What will be left when we are gone, and who will remember the arrangement we made?

Carrion Blooms is on view from April 1 to May 6 at Heron Arts in San Francisco, and you can find more from Curran on his site and Instagram.

Coleridge on the Paradox of Friendship and Romantic Love

All relationships are asymmetrical. But there are some asymmetries that fray the fabric of the relationship and maim both people involved none more so than those of a deep friendship where one person feels the tug of romantic love and the other does not, cannot. The challenge, then, is how to preserve the sanctity of friendship from being crushed beneath the weight of unequal expectations.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (October 21, 1772July 25, 1834) addressed this haunting paradox of friendship and romance in his marginalia while anguishing over a decade-deep chaste infatuation with his friend William Wordsworths sister-in-law, Sarah Hutchinson, all the while editing his literary journal, The Friend, which he dedicated to Sara.

Florida Principal Fired for Showing Michelangelos David in Class Is Invited to Italy

Michelangelo's David Sculpture

Photo: SvetlanaSF/Depositphotos

Michelangelo's David is one of the most famous sculptures in history and an iconic representation of the Renaissance. But recently, it's become the center of controversy at a Florida charter school. An image of the marble statue was shown to sixth-grade students during a required lesson on Renaissance art at the Classical School in Tallahassee. Subsequently, several parents complained that they hadn't been made aware that the image would be shown in class. One parent even stated that the famous piece of art was pornographic. Now the school's principal, Hope Carrasquilla, has been forced to resign.

The news has made headlines across the United States and in Italy. The David sculpture is on display at Florence's Galleria dell'Accademia and the city's mayor Dario Nardella has extended an invitation for the school's former principal to the city to view the artwork. He also made his views on the parents' complaints clear: To confuse art with pornography is simply ridiculous.

Cecilie Hollberg, director of the Galleria dellAccademia, wholeheartedly agrees. To think that David could be pornographic means truly not understanding the contents of the Bible, not understanding Western culture and not understanding Renaissance art, she told Fortune

According to the school, the image of David, as well as Botticelli's ...

The Nostr Privacy Paradox "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

While Nostr is by no means a privacy protocol, it could bring potential improvements to Bitcoin privacy.

Nostr, short for Notes and other stuff transmitted through relays, is a new communication protocol developed in 2021 by Lightning Network developer fiatjaf, which evolved out of LNBits developer Ben Arcs attempt at a fully-decentralized marketplace called Diagon Alley. As opposed to other communication solutions, which mostly function via dumb clients and smart servers, Nostr offers smart clients and dumb servers, which heightens censorship resistance for users.

In Nostr, all data is stored locally with users and merely distributed via relays, rather than stored on central servers, such as via Twitter. In the case of social media, Nostr increases censorship resistance, as users are enabled to fully own their own content and profiles. In light of recent controversies around Twitters censorship policies, users began migrating toward the federated communications solution Mastodon. However, in Mastodon, ownership over content and profiles lies with those running the Mastodon servers users signed up with. While federations such as Mastodon offer more censorship resistance than centralized servers as users are able to simply sign up to another server when censored criticism has arisen around potential censorship on Mastodon through server owners.

In December 2022, the Nostr community received a 14 BTC grant from Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey, which brought unprecedented attention to the protocol. As applications built on Nostr evolved, the mobile client Damus jumped to number one in social networking on the iOS app store in China, resulting in its ban. In an apparent effort to contain the #MarchOffTwitter, Twitter CEO Elon Musk shortly banned the publication of Nostr-related content, along with bans on other...

Abandoned High School Bought for $100K Is Transformed Into Stunning Apartment Building

High School in Pennsylvania

With the right vision, an abandoned building can have a second life. In 2019, Jesse Wig saw the opportunity to turn an empty high school in Homestead, Pennsylvania, into a completely new type of space. The sellers were asking $100,000 for the 50,000-square-foot building. The 34-year-old real estate agent bought it, unsure of what hed do with it. Three years later, its now known as Bowtie High, a 31-unit luxury apartment building.

While Wig didn't know what hed make of the space when he first bought it, he knew that the price was right and bet on the fact hed come up with a good idea in the future. He connected with Adam Colucci, a 35-year-old real estate investor, and the men went back and forth for two years trying to decide what to do with the old school. They considered a co-working space, wedding venue, and beer garden before deciding to take the residential route.

Once they decided to transform the building into apartments, the men brought on Dan Spanovich as another partner. As a full-time developer and multifamily property manager, he helped them navigate

The resulting transformation turned the classrooms into contemporary, open-concept apartments complete with in-unit washers and dryers. The auditorium was made into a community space, and the gym has a half-basketball court lined with Peloton bikes.

Beyond making it a comfortable living space, it was important for the trio to ensure that the building kept some elements of its former life. We worked closely with the National Park Services to ensure it kept its historical significance, Colucci said. We went out of our way to ensure the school kept its historical look.

Bowtie High began leasing in October 2021 and reached 100% occupancy after six months. After a successful renovation, the three are back at it and purchased more schools to renovate and bring back into the community in a new way.

Jesse Wig bought an abandoned high school for $100,000 and with two other partners converted it into stunning apartments...

Central Bank Digital Currencies Are About Control They Should Be Stopped "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

I participated in an online forum called US CBDCA Disaster in the making? We had a very productive discussion about the policy aspect of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). I believe that the Fed should not launch a CBDC. Ever. And I think that Congress should amend the Federal Reserve Act, just to be on the safe side. I want to distinguish between a wholesale CBDC and retail CBDC. With a wholesale CBDC, banks can electronically transact with each other using a liability of the central bank. That is essentially what banks do now. But retail CBDCs are another animal altogether. Retail CBDCs allow members of the general public to make electronic payments of all kinds with a liability of the central bank. This featuremaking electronic transactions using a liability of the Federal Reserveis central to why Congress should make sure that the Fed never issues a retail CBDC. The problem is that the federal government, not privately owned commercial banks, would be responsible for issuing deposits. And while this fact might seem like a feature instead of bug, it's a major problem for anything that resembles a free society. The problem is that there is no limit to the level of control that the government could exert over people if money is purely electronic and provided directly by the government. A CBDC would give federal officials full control over the money going intoand coming out ofevery person's account. This level of government control is not compatible with economic or political freedom.

119K people hurt by riot-control weapons since 2015 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

More than 119,000 people have been injured by tear gas and other chemical irritants around the world since 2015 and some 2,000 suffered injuries from "less lethal" impact projectiles, according to a report released Wednesday. Physicians for Human Rights and the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations, which produced the report, called it "the most comprehensive study on crowd-control weapons to date." The report on casualties from a largely unregulated industry cites an alarming evolution of crowd-control devices into more powerful and indiscriminate designs and deployment, including dropping tear gas from drones. Some of the injuries were fatal but it was impossible from the data to estimate the total number of deaths, said the report's lead author, Rohini Haar. The vast majority of the data comes from cases in which a person came to an emergency room with injuries from crowd-control weapons and the attending doctor or hospital staff made the effort to document it, Haar said. Protesters have been blinded and suffered brain damage from beanbag rounds. In November, the city of Portland reached a $250,000 settlement with five demonstrators in a federal lawsuit over police use of tear gas and other crowd-control devices during racial justice protests. But last month, a federal judge threw out an excessive force claim against an unnamed federal agent who fired an impact munition at the forehead of protester Donavan La Bella, fracturing his skull.

Note: For an idea of how common the deployment of nonlethal weapons against protesters has become, see a list of incidents of police violence that took place in the US in 2020. The FBI Just Admitted It Bought US Location Data "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has acknowledged for the first time that it purchased US location data rather than obtaining a warrant. The disclosure came today during a US Senate hearing. Senator Ron Wyden ... put the question of the bureau's use of commercial data to its director, Christopher Wray: "Does the FBI purchase US phone-geolocation information?" Wray said his agency was not currently doing so. "To my knowledge, we do not currently purchase commercial database information that includes location data derived from internet advertising," Wray said. "I understand that we previouslyas in the pastpurchased some such information for a specific national security pilot project. But that's not been active for some time." In its landmark Carpenter v. United States decision, the Supreme Court held that government agencies accessing historical location data without a warrant were violating the Fourth Amendment's guarantee against unreasonable searches. The decision left open a glaring loophole that allows the government to simply purchase whatever it cannot otherwise legally obtain. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Defense Intelligence Agency are among the list of federal agencies known to have taken advantage of this loophole. The Department of Homeland Security ... purchased the geolocations of millions of Americans from private marketing firms. The data were derived from ... benign sources, such as mobile games and weather apps.

Mapping Project Reveals Locations of U.S. Border Surveillance Towers "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The precise locations of the U.S. government's high-tech surveillance towers along the U.S-Mexico border are being made public for the first time as part of a mapping project by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. While the Department of Homeland Security's investment of more than a billion dollars into a so-called virtual wall between the U.S. and Mexico is a matter of public record, the government does not disclose where these towers are located, despite privacy concerns of residents of both countries and the fact that individual towers are plainly visible to observers. The surveillance tower map is the result of a year's work steered by EFF Director of Investigations Dave Maass. As border surveillance towers have multiplied across the southern border, so too have they become increasingly sophisticated, packing a panoply of powerful cameras, microphones, lasers, radar antennae, and other sensors. Companies like Anduril and Google have reaped major government paydays by promising to automate the border-watching process with migrant-detecting artificial intelligence. Opponents of these modern towers, bristling with always-watching sensors, argue the increasing computerization of border security will lead inevitably to the dehumanization of an already thoroughly dehumanizing undertaking. Nobody can say for certain how many people have died attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in the recent age of militarization and surveillance. Researchers estimate that the minimum is at least 10,000 dead.

Note: As the article states, the Department of Homeland Security was "the largest reorganization of the federal government since the creation of the CIA and the Defense Department," and has resulted in U.S. taxpayers funding corrupt agendas that have led to massive human rights abuses. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on government corruption and the disappearance of privacy from reliable major media sources.

Investment fund links to Atlanta police and 'Cop City' project revealed "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A new investigation has uncovered connections between private equity firms and the contentious development of a sprawling police and fire service training complex in Atlanta known as "Cop City" and the police force which fatally shot an environmental activist. Private equity refers to an opaque form of financing away from public markets in which funds and investors manage money for wealthy individuals and institutional investors. Research shared exclusively with the Guardian details links between Roark Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm ... and a corporate backer of the Atlanta police foundation (APF). APF ... is raising $60m from corporate funders to build Cop City in the Atlanta forest previously earmarked for a public park. The APF has helped Atlanta become the most surveilled city in the US in large part thanks to a program called Operation Shield. Operation Shield currently boasts more than 12,800 private and public interconnected cameras monitored by the police. The private equity industry manages about $11tn globally. Yet unlike banks and other publicly listed companies, private equity firms are exempt from most financial disclosure rules, making it extremely difficult to track their assets or risks. It means people such as firefighters, nurses and teachers whose pensions are invested in private equity funds have little way of knowing if their retirement nest egg is financing police surveillance equipment, defence contractors, hospitals or coal plants.

'Here it is better not to be born': Cobalt mining for Big Tech is driving child labor, deaths in the Congo "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

During one of his many visits to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Siddharth Kara ... met a young woman sifting dirt for traces of cobalt. Priscille told him she had suffered two miscarriages and that her husband, a fellow "artisanal" miner, died of a respiratory disease. It is just one of many devastating personal accounts in Cobalt Red, a detailed expos into the hidden world of small-scale cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The "quaint" moniker of artisanal mining, Mr. Kara points out, belies a brutal industry where hundreds of thousands of men, women and children dig with bare hands and basic tools in toxic, perilous pits, eking out an existence on the bottom rung of the global supply chain. The miners are the first step in the race for precious metals and minerals by some of the world's most powerful companies. If you own a smartphone, tablet, laptop, e-scooter, [or] electric vehicle ... then it is a system in which you are unwittingly complicit. Around 75 per cent of the world's cobalt is mined in the DRC. The rare, silvery metal is an essential component to every lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Congolese miners ... have experienced life-changing injuries, sexual assault, physical violence, corruption, displacement and abject poverty. Major tech and EV companies extol commitments to human rights, zero-tolerance for child labor, and clean supply chains. Mr. Kara described these statements as "utterly inconsistent" with what's happening on the ground.

W.H.O. Do You Trust? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Trust in public health has been shatteredhalf of America has lost faith in the scientific community altogether. Our current government is doubling down on World Health Organization (WHO) decrees that directly circumvent public oversight. The WHO has drafted a new global Pandemic Accord. The U.S. ambassador to the WHO, Pamela Hamamoto, on February 27 imprudently promised "The United States is committed to the Pandemic Accord." This comes immediately after the exposure of yet another disgrace undermining trust in public health institutions. It turned out the February 2020 Lancet article calling the lab origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus a "conspiracy theory" was itself the true conspiracy, contrived behind closed doors contemporaneously with a March 2020 publication in Nature. If that coordinated media campaign was designed to conceal malfeasance by Drs. Francis Collins and Anthony Fauciwho, as leaders of America's National Institutes of Health, reportedly sent American tax dollars to fund China's dangerous gain-of-function research and circumvent Obama administration-introduced restrictionswe may be witnessing the deadliest cover-up scandal in history. News media are also beginning to acknowledge facts that refute the original reasons behind lockdowns. Despite protestations to the contrary, all signers of the Pandemic Accord clearly relinquish critical autonomy to the WHO. Most ominous is that WHO defines "public health emergency" on its own terms.
